Yes, I have a flair for the dramatic, but that’s not the case this time around.
Dracula has been lying to me, and now, we’re both going to pay the price.
Kidnapped by Mason’s mom, the infamous Medusa, I discover even more secrets concerning my lineage and future. And these secrets?
They could completely annihilate the world
To make matters worse, our group has been fractured.
Jack and Hux are acting suspicious.
Dimitri Gray’s behaving like a raging asshole.
Barret’s being cagy.
Mason’s struggling with his inner demons.
And Cal? He’s MIA.
With Vin and Frankie by my side, we must work together to uncover the truth about my birthright and complete the final round of the Roaring.
If we win, we live.
If we lose…
Well…
A god-blessed dagger to the chest might be less painful than what the future has in store for us. It’s a good thing that this badass monster has some venom of her own.
This is a dark comedy reverse harem romance that features strong language, violence, and sexual situations. This will also contain minor MM themes.
To be honest I couldn’t remember all that much from the prior books - Monsters which I read in December 2019 and Roaring which I read in October 2020. I remembered the characters but not the plot so that recap really saved the book for me or this would have likely slid into a low 3 star range. I am kind of confused because I thought this was a trilogy but the series is going on. That aside let’s talk characters because to me that is the basis of any novel.
Violet the not so daughter of Dracula. She turned out to be the biological child of Just as insane as before. She either makes you laugh or cringe. At times she reads like a sex obsessed middle school boy so that is why I couldn’t give this a 4 or 5 stars.
The dudes… How did she end with 8 guys? (I count Hux and Jack separately as they are definitely separate people). I think harems that are too large lose the emotional connection and this is just way too many guys in my opinion. (This may have to do with how I format my reviews as this is gonna be a monstrously long review per her beaus). I had the same issue with Katie May’s Supernaturalette series.
Jack the son of Dr. Jekyll. He is kind and level headed. Doesn’t like violence. He is the alter ego of Hux. Those two are caught up in something as at the end of Roaring they try to blow up their mate and Cal with a grenade.
Hux is one of my faves. Just his lack of knowledge about women but his overall sweetness to his “treasure” stole my heart. Son of Mr. Hyde. He is the psychotic alter ego of Jack. He’s just so funny. Here’s an example that plays on this from early books at 4%, “Hux, your precious treasure is experiencing her Great Period. She needs chocolate, stat!”
Frankie one of Frankinstein’s monsters. He is the brainy smart one who can be quite cold. He didn’t play much of a role in this one and honestly I would cut him as a love interest but whatever.
Mason son of Medusa. He has an addictive personality whether with drugs or his love for Violet. He befriended Vi almost immediately when she joined the academy so he holds that place in her heart. . His role in the story basically serves a means for Vi to come in contact with her Olympian side.
Vin Van Helsing. Honestly he’s a mediocre boyfriend who is just there to give the narrative connection to his shitty father, Stefan and his sister, Vanessa who becomes Violet’s bestie.
Dimitri Gray because would this be a true academy story without a romance between a student and school official? I had serious issues with that aspect of what will evolve into a relationship as they are mates. This pisses me off to no end because he is the son of Dorian Gray the main character in one of my top 2 classics of all time, the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I love his character and how they explain Dimitri’s background. The mirror thing was great. He also knows who her bio parents are. He’s an assassin and overall badass who somehow becomes headmaster.
Cal and Barrett I’m gonna talk about them together because they are the greatest couple. I’m all for bi and polyamorous relationship rep but honestly I feel like Katie May wanted away to have m/m/f threesome eventually without skewing to far away from Violet’s plot. That being said I LOVE these two. Cal aka Cupid is half fairy, half incubus. He was sent to DETENTION, aka basically purgatory after he was forced by the monster council to help supernaturals find their fated mates. In the last book we saw him go murderous after thinking Barret had been killed. Barrett aka Boogeyman, was NOT dead but faked his death with the help of the son of the dude Cal killed to avenge him. Sorry, Alex! He did this to protect Violet who was his fated mate.
This review took me eons. It feels like typing this up and it is very long, so congrats if you made it here! Overall it was decent, not my favoritite Katie May and by no means the worst. If you haven’t read any of them, I’d wait until the series is complete because the gap between my reading the books made me forget alot.
Well hell. What the fuck is up with the ending? God damn it all with the fucking ending and the third one. Now I'm going to ind something to read that will make me laugh.
I thought this was going to be the end, how can it not be the end, where did my mind wander when I was convinced this was going to be the last book in this series. I have to say the book makes more sense now... as I was nearing the end I was like you can never be done with this story or else it's going to be sloppy... so I'm happy in a way but darn it no happy ending for Violet and her gang just yet, and poor .... nope not going there now.
Great read, I find Violet to be hilarious and she gave me a lot of lol moments, where my household looked at me as if I lost my marbles. Great Great Great, sucky cliffhanger tho. Onwards to book 4 !!
This book had so much potential in the plot, and I kept reading (through 3 books even though I wanted to DNF) hoping it would get better, but it just got worse. The main character is whiny and useless, yet all these guys are obsessed with her? It doesn’t make much sense. She also talks and behaves like a 12 year old boy. Maybe the author can rewrite the entire book with a more mature and capable (bada**) main character. That’s the only way this book could live up to the potential the plot has.
This series is so good!! Fast paced with more monsters in the harem than I thought possible. When I think I’m getting the feel of what’s going to happen boom 🤯
3.5 stars. Holy shit. What the hell was that ending??? Like what’s up with these cliffhangers. And I just know the next one is going to be a bad cliffhanger too😭😭.
Not too much happened in this book. Violet takes a visit to a special place. We finally met the third entity with Jack and Hux. A cute date with Frankie. The Roaring competition continues. We learn about Cal and Barrets feelings towards Violet. Unexpected deaths (I was so shocked 😭😭, like I didn’t even see it coming, poor person😭😭). An infamous visitor in the end. The anti vampire hate continues. New powers emerge. And then boom, the crazy cliffhanger.
Favorite quotes/scenes: “I want the world to burn, because without Violet, it feels like my own is imploding.” (Frankie)
“That girl owned me from the minute she handed me a chocolate bar, not knowing how precious a gift like that was to a monster like me.” (Hux)
“Four score and seven years ago… I shit my pants in this cafeteria.” (Violet) “Remind me again why I find you attractive?” (Vin)
“I’ve never felt this way about another living soul before, but I can’t deny that my body burns for Violet in a way that it hasn’t for anyone else.” (Mason)
“I’ll follow her to the afterlife if need be, and if there’s a life after that, I’ll follow her there too.” (Mason)
“I’ll have you know, asshole, that I had a salad last week.” (Violet) “You had a green-colored peppermint chocolate.” (Frankie) “And the whole time, you kept screaming, ‘Get that unholy vegetable away from me! Be gone, Devil! Be gone!’” (Mason) “It was traumatizing. I thought I accidentally ate a piece of lettuce.” (Violet)
“How good are you at fighting?” (Alex) “Um…I once punched myself in the face. Does that count?” (Violet) “We’re so fucked.” (Alex)
“I need her like a human needs oxygen and a banshee needs liver. I need her sass, her sultry grin, her babbling nonsense. I need her.” (Cal)
“I know I’m not her only—I’ll never be her only—but for just a brief second… I’m someone. And that’s more than I could ever ask for.” (Cal)
First things first. I've decided to always give a thumbs up when authors include a recap, especially when there's a wait between books. So 👍.
I'm trying to remember if Violet was always this insane or if distance in time toned it down in my memory. And some of her men are just as crazy as she is. I have to admit I spent this book either laughing or cringing.
Let's be honest though. The story didn't actually progress that much in this book, it's like 70% Violet and her mates thinking or doing something inappropriate, with a little story progression mixed in.
It appears by the end of this that Violet has 8 mates, counting Jack and Hux as 2, and 2 that she's not aware are her mates. As usual, she also has lots of enemies, and some enemies potentially becoming allies.
And of course the prerequisite cliffhanger. Don't want to give too much away, but surely there are injuries which provide some defence ... I know that sounds weird out of context.
I do like the book and series. In fact I've searched every now and then to see if the next book was out, but I'd say it's more a bit of fun than high quality fiction.
A lot of people refuse to read series when they're not complete yet. I've been reading incomplete and unfinished series for such a long time that I'm used to having to wait, to needing some time to remember a plot. So, even though the next book in this series is not yet available I really wanted to read to third book. Especially because I really love this academy, all the characters and where the plot is going.
In a way this book felt a little like a filler book. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy reading the book, on the contrary, but it doesn't feel like much has happened in this book. We've mostly been finishing the Roaring and we've seen how our characters strengthened their bonds, especially through sex. Loads of sex. I have to admit that at some moments Violet felt a little too over the top in this book, but it could be that I was simply not in the exact right mood.
However, there were a few nice reveals in this book, reveals that will certainly impact the rest of the story. Although, thanks to the prophecy it's quite clear how this story is gonna end. And I personally can't wait to read the next book and to see how our characters will get there, because there is still a lot of work to do. I wonder if everything will even fit into one book, especially since the pacing of the plot isn't that fast in this series.
Where I had some issues with Violet in this book, I really really really enjoyed everything Jack and Hux were going through. It was painful, but it was therefore also very emotional. It felt like they were confronted with who they are, who they wanted to be and what they really deem important in life. Their storyline is far from finished and I'm really excited to find out how everything is gonna be solved eventually!
ps. Katie May's writing is still amazing and perfect pps. I love Dimitri Gray!
🧛♀️Violet Dracula-Dracula’s clumsy, eccentric daughter. She is revealed to be the mate of Frankie, Mason, Vin, Hux, and Jack.
🔥Now for our Harem🔥
☠️Vin-a Van Helsing, sworn to protect humanity from monsters (particularly vampires) at all costs. He’s originally rude and an asshole to Violet before he repents. His twin sister is Vanessa. He’s one of Violet’s mates.
🐍Mason-the son of Medusa and a Fairy Blossom addict. He becomes Violet’s first friend at the academy. He’s one of Violet’s mates. He has a slight drug problem and is high a lot as a coping mechanism.
🧠Frankie-a cold man who is only passionate about his work… until he meets Violet. He is one of Frankenstein’s experiments and also one of Violet’s mates.
👬🏻Hux-the alter-ego of Jack. He’s slightly psychotic and already desperately in love with Violet.
👬🏻Jack-the kinder alter-ego of Hux. He is more level-headed than his brother and refuses to use swear words or resort to violence.
👀 Dimitri Gray-once a professor but now the headmaster of Prodigium Academy. He’s a stone-cold assassin who has been looking after Violet since she first arrived at the academy. He knows the truth about her lineage. MAY Or MAY NOT be a future Harem member.
🧚🏻♀️Cal-otherwise known as Cupid. He’s half-fairy and half-incubus. After helping supernaturals find their fated mates, the monster council forced him into detention, where he developed a relationship with Barret. MAY Or MAY NOT be a future Harem member.
🧌Barret-otherwise known as the Boogeyman. He’s forced to remain in the upper levels of the school for a crime he committed. He’s currently in a relationship with Cal and is close friends with Violet. MAY Or MAY NOT be a future Harem member.
☠️Alex-a transfer to the school and a necromancer. He hates vampires with a passion and seeks to make Violet’s life a living hell. However, he sacrifices himself to save her life in book three. When we last saw him, he was broken and bleeding but still alive.
😈Balor-a Formorian who has taken up residence in Hux and Jack’s head. Violet can’t figure out his intentions, but it’s hinted that he’s trying to free his people from their prison in Hell.
⚠️Spoilers ahead⚠️
🥳We start out with Violet men Zin, Frankie and Mason freaking out at Violets disappearance and DESPERATE to find her. Their feeling are OTT and I’m loving it. Finally seeing how intensely these guys feeling run💕
🐍Violets been kidnapped by Medusa and taken to Zeus to talk about the 2 prophecy revolving around her. Of course Medusa only about the one involving her son!
🏥Dimitri wakes up in the hospital to find Dracula in surgery and Violet missing and goes to his dad for help in finding her.
🥺Mason is having withdraws and has to be you in a coma till he’s better.
⛈This book in the series has the harem a bit more scattered. Everyone is fighting their own issues and ultimately it seems that they are fractured. But not in terms of thier love for Violet just in terms of dealing with their own Demons.
🤬 Alex- If this is going where I think it’s going with Alex he better have an extreme redemption arc first cause this douche is the worst! AND if Alex had been fucking Cheryl this whole time I’m gonna be PISSED! Mean he had a make out session with Cheryl and her tit out during the bone golf scene and if he is Violets mate then that’s cheating to me😡 AND NOONE should treat others the way he does for ANY reason. I don’t see how he’s gonna be redeemed. I honestly would prefer him not be apart of the Harem. He has done some stuff to protect Violet but it’s not good enough for how he treats her. Calling her a whore and demeaning her constantly.
🌈Violet gets saved! Dimitri takes her to his place where he goes down on her again but when she try’s to touch him he stops her. This leads to a fight and he tells her he only wants sex. She tries to seduce him and he rejects her says pretty mean things. I’m over his hit and cold 3 books in🤬.
🫣Violet reunites with Frankie and Vin were she acts like an idiot. I was so annoyed. But after she tells them what happened they have a 3 some. Frankie losses hi V❤️🔥with his vibrating D.
😅The Roaring takes place where Alex saves her. Again he still has other reasons to save her. Cause she’s helpless and can’t fight. He can’t win unless they both make it out.
❤️🔥Violet and Cal have sex during the Roaring and it’s spicy as all hell. He also tells her he’s her mate.
😢Barret has feelings for Violet but doesn’t tell her cause he thinks he is friend zoned.
😡Jack and Hux are not is any scene with Violet cause of Barlo. This made me mad! We find out Barlo is killing anyone with Vampire blood 🩸 in the school. When he gets caught Barlo, jack and Hux are taken away to detention.
😈Lucifer shows up at the school to meet the winners of the Roaring. Dimitri tries to hide them but it doesn’t work and during the meeting Violet is agin kidnapped by Vin dad.
☠️Vins dada and a group of other monsters torture Violet. Cheryl is there and tries to stop it and gets killed. Violet turns psycho and blacks out only to wake up and find she killed them all brutally.
😢Violet has to serve 1000yrs is detention or possible death for her actions.
💥Side notes💥 🤨Not every single situation that happens to Violet has to lead to sex in her mind or actions. It would be nice if she actually had a smart thought or maybe pulled a badass move for once. The girl Is helpless and dumb and and 3 books in it’s not cute anymore. Not when she can’t help herself or her mates. It got a bit annoying it’s stared getting to the point where she was acting like the whore everyone called her. I wish she held a bit more self respect. Like just tweaking your nipples every other scene especially serious scenes was pushing it.
😳It’s crazy that anyone would take the prophecy seriously with how dumb she is. And hey, I like this fun sexy witty banter of this series but there are times when it’s annoying and just pushed to far. There’s nothing wrong with being a bit serious at times.
🤬Another thing that was getting annoying was that Jack and Hux had no scenes with Violet. The whole fighting internally with Balor was Annoying after a while especially since he popped up whenever Jack and Hux could finally have a moment with Violet.
⚠️No Cheating or OW sex ⚠️the torture scene wasn’t really bad at all but check your triggers ⚠️some MM between Cal and Barret
Violet has a fantastic body, and she's beautiful. She's also a clumsy dork who tends to say stupid things.
That's her whole personality as described in the books.
Why do seven men love her? Why does one man struggle so much to hate the woman who killed his brother?
The characters are all so... bleh. The premise of her heritage was interesting at first, but now it's turned into more bleh.
It's supposed to be a supernatural book, but... Violet is a demigoddess/demi, posing as a vampire (bleh, bleh, bleh) who drinks blood, but trips and falls when she tries to run or do anything else vampire-like. She can compel people, but that's about it as far as powers go. Violet is, more than anything, stupid.
The humorous parts are not at all humorous. The author tries too hard to be funny. Maybe it's just me, because I don't find moments that make me cringe inwardly to be funny.
I have read other Katie May books that I really like, so I know she has talent. It just wasn't evident in this book.
I’m so addicted to this series! I can’t put it down! Violet is everything. I’m constantly laughing hysterically or face palming at the ridiculous things that come from her mouth. I’m so happy with more than a few outcomes! Ekkk! Surprise surprise! I never saw that coming. And what the heck I definitely didn’t see that coming. Ahhh I have to know what is next!
Loved every minute of this book. Spicy, hilarious, so different than any book I have read. Top 10 books of this year for me and I read around 200 books a year! I can't recommend enough!!! Katie May was so creative, I was jealous! Lol!! Great Author!! Will be reading more from her now!
But it's so hard to. It's mostly a bunch of nonsense and definitely more cringey instead of funny. So much going on that I really don't know what's going on most of the time. How do a few of the guys know she's their mate but the others take so long? It's sort of annoying. And how everyone is against her when she's not even what they think she is... wouldn't they... be able to tell?? And Balor can literally scent the monsters, so can the Van Helsings, yet they just... blah.
Another great read from a great author!.. love this series.. cant wait for the next book.. the ending has me on the edge of my seat dying to know what happens next!.
This series keeps getting better and better! I love everything about Violet and her guys. I could just read their everyday lives and it would keep me a happy monster. But this is more than that! The plot moves forward from the cliff of book 2 where Violet learns of her parentage.
Loads of character development happens within the harem as well! Everyone gets a little bit of time in the sun so to speak. I must know what's happening with Hux/Jack/Balor!? That's the plot point that I cannot let go of! Plus Mason and his growth to being sober is a great storyline that you just don't see that often, so props to Katie!
There's unrequited love as the harem grows-ish with Dimitri, Alex and Barret. Alex has some work to do, Dimitri needs to learn love and Barret needs to be let out of the friendzone ASAP.
The harem in here is a big one, but each guy brings something to the table and I cannot wait for the next book! Plus the newest cliff has got me in it's hooks.
Books 1 and 2 were fantastic! But in this one Violet is just a creepy, crude, moronic sex doll. Seriously... I am 100% pro ladies embracing their sexuality openly but she f*cks herself with a mixer (like for baking) simply because she is mad at Dimitri, she pulls out her boob in the cafeteria "just because" and several other random scenarios. It's just weird. And her clever intelligent wit is replaced with stupid banter that honestly makes me agree with a reviewer when they said the male leads would probably never in reality wanna associate with her. It's embarrassing.

Everything Violet knew was a lie.
Maybe not everything but pretty important things.
Like her father not being her biological father and her not being a vampire.
Those are pretty difficult things to digest. And she drinks blood!
Also witnessing her dad, because Dracula will always be her dad, being stabbed.
Getting kidnapped and threatened by her boyfriend's mother, Medusa, while learning about two prophecies that concern her, maybe, sort of, at least one of them, was not how she envisioned meeting the in-law.
And if that was not enough:
Cal has disappeared, Barret is avoiding her, Jack and Hux are acting strange the few times they are around and Dimitri Gray is behaving like a controlling butt face, a very attractive..., no no, just a butt face, no attractive, ugly.
Vin needs to keep his distance in public to appease his hunter, vampire hating family.
But together they might all survive the final round of the Roaring.
And they need to win if they want Cal and Barret to earn their freedom.

Notes:
🔸 Interesting take on mythology, legends and monsters
All sort of beings interact with each other here.
🔸Funny scenes
A bit of dark humour, where being a monster is the norm and stabbing or eating people is normal. Meshed that with a deranged, cute girl with a propensity to blabber and saying awkward things but it is okay because the guys always think she is adorable.
🔸Special one
The FMC is a special girl, everything goes effortlessly well even through all the chaos surrounding her. People love or hate her. Obviously the guys love her or are obsessed with her right from the start.
🔸 Incoherent and strange plot twists/lines and Inconsistencies
There are plenty of scenes and lines that change in ways that do not make much sense. Almost as if the author changed their mind in the middle and didn't bother to check if it made sense or was consistent or had the proper foundations to support the change.
For example:
- the games It continues to be a confusing mess, no logic. Cal and Violet getting it on during one of the most dangerous times of their lives but okay, no biggie it's not like their survival is at stake and at any moment they can suffer an attack and be killed. Oh...they can?!
- Zeus: not the brightest for the king of Olympus
- Medusa getting to all the trouble of kidnapping Violet in the middle of the games, under some of the most powerful monsters protection, only to let her go...?
- BFF Vanessa The had a couple of cold interactions before where Violet claimed Vanessa was her bff but in a sweet delusional way these type of crazy characters often do. But then in this book, out of nowhere, Vanessa starts acting like she is Violet's bff and for a long time. Huh?!
- Murder and punishment There are plenty of murders throughout the series. Sometimes it is as if murder is illegal and completely forbidden other times it is okay and normal. So which is it? Acceptable or forbidden? This shouldn't change just to better fit the current plot line. And why is the staff at the academy the ones that sentence someone? Shouldn't that be someone else's job? Is the academy an academy and a jail?? Is it like a civil arrest? It simply doesn't make sense, nor is it consistent.
And plenty of stupid decisions and unbelievable, unsupported and ill-timed scenes and behaviour.

As always my complete respect for the author and their work. No hate nor hurt intended with this review.

I have one thing to say, okay that’s a lie I have a lot of things to say. This one thing tho will likely make you stop reading this and run to grab Venom. Maybe I should wait to tell you, nah that’s cruel… although not as cruel as that fucking cliffhanger was. *Glares at Katie May*
So what is that one thing you ask? Well it’s a vibrating dick of course! I know what you’re thinking “Kara vibrators are not a big deal” and I totally agree… but this wasn’t a vibrator. Yup, you read that right. This vibrating dick is attached to a man. Katie May just casually made Frankie God’s fucking gift to women! He can change his dick to whatever the fuck he wants and NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT. There you go, that’s the thing, now run along and grab the book. I completely understand you not wanting to wait and finish my review, I sure as hell wouldn’t wait.
If you’re still here I question your sanity but also want to thank you for not leaving me in favor of a vibrating cock. Now I shall share with you my list of demands for Katie. *Unrolls scroll* Demand number one, Alex must be added to the harem, I will not take no for an answer. Demand número dos, TAKE BACK WHAT YOU DID TO POOR BARRET YOU BIG MEANIE! You broke his fucking heart, he’s like a puppy and you BROKE HIS HEART and turned him into a fucking simp! Do you also enjoy kicking actual puppies in your free time!?!
Finally, and possibly most importantly, I demand that you put a warning on this book. I nearly peed myself from laughing so hard! THE HORROR! You need to warn a girl before you go making her laugh that hard. I’m getting old, my bladder can’t handle that shit… and yes 24 IS getting old, it’s half way to 50 after all.
Seriously y’all why are you still reading this review and not the book itself? Venom was a billion star read and you’re wasting time reading a review about it… GO BUY THE DAMN BOOK.
Okay so I'm going against my usual review style here again because I've come to the realization that when reading a series, if one book sucks (especially the last book) then I don't want to get into the series. So I feel it's more important to review a book based on the series in its entirety instead. So here goes ...
Prodigium Academy (as a series) is very cute and well written. The storyline and plot are well thought out and also organized very well. Each book and chapter have a direct focus and the plot twists are very intriguing and entertaining. I was pleased when the ending offered three epilogues to show various stages of the future, which also made for a well rounded ending.
I liked the world that was created for the main character and her mates, and i think each character developed nicely throughout the series. Yeah some side quests within the story were a bit excessive and felt unnatural but I still have to admit i BALLED my eyes out during the final book. Full on ugly cries too.
Regarding every single character, the author did a great job following through on their own storylines and tied everything up nicely in the end. While i skimmed a lot throughout this entire series, i did enjoy it very much. If you're a smut-only reader this may not be the series for you... despite its decent amount of spice, i didn't think those scenes were well conducted and felt quite forced most of the time.
I’m not understanding the great reviews here. The only way to the end was plot convenience and inconsistency. It was hard to keep my eyes under control. Especially the ending.
No one thought to tell Barrett about the evil Balor? Especially being paired with him for the game?
They didn’t think to restrain Balor before jumping through the portal? Or make sure he was restrained immediately after? They just expected him to hang around? Come on.
They didn’t lock the office door when running away to get violet through a portal? They could have just shoved two through quickly and made up excuses.
The very end it was clear Violet was being held and tortured when accused of murder. Room, chair, drain. Dimitri not defending her. Her not defending herself. What kind of plot is that? It’s not one.
SO much repetition. A good quarter of the book was repeating facts we already knew. The smut was…not good. Fucking yourself with a mixer? Playing with your boob in the cafeteria for no reason? The h got turned into a complete moron. She won’t allow Dimitri sex like he wants it, but it’s ok for her to Dom Vin? Which btw was just cringe. It doesn’t work.
I won’t be reading anything else by this author.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I can understand how other reviewers feel when they say this one is not as good. I get that Violet is supposed to be snarky and free spirited, but the way she behaves in this book goes straight into To Dumb To Live category. She seriously makes incredibly poor decisions that not only result in her being put in danger but also those around her. Her behavior irked me as well, and while I enjoy a little goofy, slapstick that’s done well, this book has turned me off of this series. I’m just no longer interested in what happens to Violet, because at this point, I kinda want her to die. Which really disappoints me, because the over arching storyline is really good, and I am interested in seeing how that plays out, but I don’t want to do it through the perspective of Violet. I honestly believe that if it wasn’t for the mate bonds there is no way Vin, Frankie, or Jack would be any bit interested in her. They are the kind of men that don’t want to be embarrassed by their girlfriend and she is nothing but embarrassing. I’m not waiting for the next one.
We do a whole lot of regular things, coupled with the rest of the Roaring but once the story does actually get going into some semblance of a direction we get a cliffhanger and I’m tbh sick of these cliffhangers. Tie up your books with the book plot and then keep the series plot running. We don’t need all these cliffhangers to keep us interested, we are interested already especially if we are reading book 3 onward.
Anywho this book is spent with Violet and her men continuing with The Roaring. Violet collecting more mates, finding out her parentage and what happened after the cliffhanger from the last book. But mostly it’s spent on sex scenes all over with her mates. Which is great but I personally would like more of a balance. I found it weird that they would bang in the middle of a game comp in the maze. And I expected the final game to have lots of baddies or things to have to deal with but it doesn’t really. Most of The Roaring competitions save for the first one doesn’t really have anything major for Violet to do. I still enjoy the series and I want to see where this goes.
This book starts right where the last (Roaring) ended. The guys are desperately searching for Violet, while she is being dragged away by Medusa and unsure if her father and Dimitri are still alive. When she learns of a couple prophecies that may revolve around her, the whole world changes for her. So many revelations are brought to light about who Violet is and isn’t and it’s amazing that she’s able to keep such a brave face with all that is happening to her and her mates. Each of her mates are dealing with their own hardships from withdrawals, to fighting their destiny, to changing in ways they never expected. I can’t believe the craziness that ensues while the last game of the roaring is played and all the revelations that are brought to life. My main complaint with this book is that Violet seemed overly ditsy and almost too stupid for me to continue reading. I don’t remember her being this annoying in the first two. I pushed through because I love these characters, I just wasn’t a fan of this particular book.
I don’t normally leave review but omg!!! I have loved this series so far and I’m so upset that I have to wait for the next one to come out!!! What a cliffhanger dammit!!! Ugh!!! Violet is seriously my spirit animal I love her as a FMC!! And these boys!!! I want all of them!!! I love aspects about each of them and their protectiveness and love for Violet!!! This cliffhanger is recking me!!! Im soo curious about what is going to happen to everyone like what does this all mean!!??? How does it all connect!!??? The story building is amazing and I can envision everything so well! I freakin screamed when the book ended and my dog basically thought I was under attack and I was… my heart is not functioning correctly right now smh!!! I need book number 4 ASAP!!!! Seriously I was on the fence about reading this series at first, it was on my TBR list for a while but im soo glad I gave it a chance!! If you’re on the fence just read it! You won’t be disappointed… well except for when you get to the cliffhanger in book 3 and want to murder someone!! Lol
I have been dying to get my hands on this book, and it’s finally here! And it’s everything I could’ve hoped for and more….minus the cliffhanger. But Katie May is the master of cliffhangers so no surprise there. This book picks up right where book 2 left off, with Medusa stealing Violet away in the rigged competition. Jack and Hux are MIA with suspicion all around them. Vin is still a butt nugget, but a lovable butt nugget. Mason is on the cusp of withdrawals, dimitri cant decide if he’s in the harem or not. We’ve got one who has decided to join the harem, but he comes with baggage, then you’ve got Alex who I can’t quiet figure out. It’s all a beautiful, amazing, wish it didn’t end crap shoot. If you’re a fan of Katie’s prior work, this one is no different. Violet still cracks me up, even when facing death multiple times. And the no-no-cha-cha scenes are to die for. Stop reading the reviews and start reading the book.
I know I have said it before, but I need to say it again, Violet is hilarious. Her chapters are hilarious to listen to and the narrator does such an epic job on it. And don’t get me started in the male narration. So well done! And this is duet narration, this such a great listen.
We continue to follow Violet and the finishing of the Roaring. There is so much we still don’t understand about Violet’s past, but we do get a few more clues in this book.
We also get a few more potential additions to Violet’s men, she is really accumulating a nice large group, so if big harems is your thing? Then this is absolutely the book for you.
Yet again, this book ends on a cliffy, so get ready to hop right into the next book!
So many mates. SO many plot twists. So many characters I want to see kebabed. This story was wild, especially towards the end. I can't WAIT to see where that whole Lucifer plot goes. Second father, perhaps?
And so far, here's who we know Violet's mates are.
Vin Mason Frankie Jack Hux Cal Barret Dmitri (not explicitly stated but u can tell) Alex (probs)
And I THINK that's it for now. This book was great and kept me interested - I love Violet and her attitude towards everything. I was also really happy with her kind of breaking out of her cage at the end however I'm antsy about what she's gonna do about her punishment. Def will be reading the next book. The only reason this isn't a 5 is because the smut throughout this series just isn't my favorite - in fact, I usually just skim those scenes. Overall I love where this is heading esp with the whole powerful family tree plotline.
This book started with her in Olympus. Medusa took her to see Zeus. Apparently there are 2 prophecies about Violet. That Mason will die by one of Draculas kids. Then the prophecy about her rising from the ashes and taking over her dads kingdom. Which is really Hell because Lucifer is her bio dad. Then the book was a little slow after she got back. Turns out there is a third brother named Balor who is a killer and vampire hater. He was the one who gave venom to Deirdre Stevens. Alex saved her life and then she helped save his. I haven’t decided if he is a possible mate or not? Cal is her mate, who knew. And Barrett probably is to. They win the roaring. Only for Stefan Van Hielsing to kidnap her and torture her. Then against all odds Cheryl Ness saved her life and died in the process. Leaving her to be sentenced to detention for 1,000 years. This book was a crazy wild ride.
