Everything Violet knew was a lie.
Maybe not everything but pretty important things.
Like her father not being her biological father and her not being a vampire.
Those are pretty difficult things to digest. And she drinks blood!
Also witnessing her dad, because Dracula will always be her dad, being stabbed.
Getting kidnapped and threatened by her boyfriend's mother, Medusa, while learning about two prophecies that concern her, maybe, sort of, at least one of them, was not how she envisioned meeting the in-law.
And if that was not enough:
Cal has disappeared,
Barret is avoiding her,
Jack and Hux are acting strange the few times they are around
and
Dimitri Gray is behaving like a controlling butt face, a very attractive..., no no, just a butt face, no attractive, ugly.
Vin needs to keep his distance in public to appease his hunter, vampire hating family.
But together they might all survive the final round of the Roaring.
And they need to win if they want Cal and Barret to earn their freedom.

Notes:
🔸 Interesting take on mythology, legends and monsters
All sort of beings interact with each other here.
🔸Funny scenes
A bit of dark humour, where being a monster is the norm and stabbing or eating people is normal.
Meshed that with a deranged, cute girl with a propensity to blabber and saying awkward things but it is okay because the guys always think she is adorable.
🔸Special one
The FMC is a special girl, everything goes effortlessly well even through all the chaos surrounding her. People love or hate her. Obviously the guys love her or are obsessed with her right from the start.
🔸 Incoherent and strange plot twists/lines and Inconsistencies
There are plenty of scenes and lines that change in ways that do not make much sense. Almost as if the author changed their mind in the middle and didn't bother to check if it made sense or was consistent or had the proper foundations to support the change.
For example:
- the games
It continues to be a confusing mess, no logic.
Cal and Violet getting it on during one of the most dangerous times of their lives but okay, no biggie it's not like their survival is at stake and at any moment they can suffer an attack and be killed. Oh...they can?!
- Zeus: not the brightest for the king of Olympus
- Medusa getting to all the trouble of kidnapping Violet in the middle of the games, under some of the most powerful monsters protection, only to let her go...?
- BFF Vanessa
The had a couple of cold interactions before where Violet claimed Vanessa was her bff but in a sweet delusional way these type of crazy characters often do. But then in this book, out of nowhere, Vanessa starts acting like she is Violet's bff and for a long time. Huh?!
- Murder and punishment
There are plenty of murders throughout the series.
Sometimes it is as if murder is illegal and completely forbidden other times it is okay and normal. So which is it? Acceptable or forbidden? This shouldn't change just to better fit the current plot line.
And why is the staff at the academy the ones that sentence someone? Shouldn't that be someone else's job? Is the academy an academy and a jail?? Is it like a civil arrest? It simply doesn't make sense, nor is it consistent.
And plenty of stupid decisions and unbelievable, unsupported and ill-timed scenes and behaviour.
***
As always my complete respect for the author and their work.
No hate nor hurt intended with this review.
