Aside from its catchy title, I found this book to be a helpful guide to finding and navigating questions throughout one’s career. The author includes practical exercises to determine and reiterate what, why, how you want to do what you do. I’d revisit this book again in the future to brush up as I progress through changes throughout my career.
Very practical book. Well written, interesting, but what stands up most are various exercises that you can do while reading. I would, however, mainly recommend it for those who consider changing a job or setting their own business. For readers who are happy with their current position and work as such, it will not be very beneficial at the moment of reading. I rated it 4/5 :)
This is a great book of you have a job that you don't really like it you find it hard to get on with colleagues. It has plenty of tips on how to be who you want to be and how to get to where you want to go.
How to get along with colleagues and learn to love the job you have it leave your current job and set out to find a job your going to be happy in.
There is one paragraph that I thought was really important
"Reflective thinking can be uncomfortable. However, if you don't carve out time for reflection and that space to step back and see the wider picture, you won't mature or pick up any juicy knowledge that can help your success"
I am currently a self employed blogger and I work from home, by myself, so I don't have any other colleagues to worry about. Also, I really love the job I do and I am not looking for a change, so most of this book wasn't really aimed at me. But if you are looking for a change this book is great to help you take them first few steps.
I enjoyed this book. It was a lot like Emma Gannon’s The Multi-Hyphen Method, giving practical ideas and guidance on finding satisfaction in your current role or building a career elsewhere by understanding what it is that makes you happy.
I listened to the Audiobook which did make it a little more difficult to follow because of the exercises throughout the book, so if you want to get stuck into those, it’s probably better to read it rather than listen.
I found this book very interesting and practical. I really enjoyed the exercises that went along with the readings, they truly helped me gain some insight into myself.
I would recommend this to anyone that is not satisfied with their career and/or is interested in owning a business. As others have mentioned, it is not helpful if you currently have a job you love.
This book has been a great help in identifying exactly what I need from a career. I had felt this for some time and knew I wasn't thriving. It's written as a practical guide with lots of hints and tips. It has helped me find my 'why'.
I really enjoyed this book, I thought there was a lot of information here to take on board. Which was both helpful and made you discover what it is you want.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Definitely helps with choosing between staying or leaving your current work or career path. The exercises help decipher if it’s your role or the company that’s the problem. There’s a third option, not in the title, which is to stay at the company and pursue a different position. Overall helpful.
