Victor Morgan’s entire life has been in the limelight. Groomed by his fierce mother as a piano prodigy, intent on using him to build a legacy for the Morgan name.
But legacies require the utmost in care. Any little disaster can cause a mountain of problems.
After a 17th birthday party ends in catastrophe, a fight with his parents sends Victor out into the world for the first time on his own. With his Academy team and Sang by his side, it’s everything he’s wanted for years. It’s his time to get out from under his parents’ oppressive control and finally be himself.
But Victor is a local celebrity in the Charleston community. His name and face have been everywhere. His every move is noticed. When his actions lead to the risk of a very public exposure of himself and his team, including thwarting Sang’s chances at remaining a Ghost Bird, Victor realizes the life his mother built may jeopardize everything. The Morgan name may just be his downfall.
There may be no escape. The only way to save Sang and his team might be to give up what he really wants more than anything: to finally be the real Victor Morgan.
Is awful to wait so long to read the continuation. I hate it.
The plot is moving, but it's going at such a ssssllloooww pace. And honestly, who wants to think about waiting another 7 or 8 years to find out if this worked out or not?
I know there are a bunch of other RH stories but the fact is the ones I've tried are either lousy copies of The Academy, have insta-love/insta-lust, characters are boring or exagerated and...no, just no.
So... See you next year I guess.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Seriously, though. I must have checked out this page about a hundred times already. When is this book going to come out? Even an actual ballpark would be great.
It feels like I've been waiting for this book for forever. I've checked out this pages so many times and it would be so sad if another book wouldn't appear as I am very hung up on this story line since I was just 14 years old. And I'm 20 now. I'm begging you CL Stone! Much Love and I hope you're well.
At this point, any love I had for the complex story has pretty much dissipated because the author has basically dismissed us (her fans, her CUSTOMERS). If her own body of work isn't worth sharing, then I'm good with finding a new series. It was too slow and lazy, anyway. Too much "should I kiss him or not?" crapola. Also, at least 3 of the guys could be eliminated without causing any damage to the story. They're basically duplicates of the other guys. Also, I've just spent more time writing about the story just now than CL Stone has in the last few years. I'm done.
10/21 EDIT: Well, the new story's finally out, and from reading most of the reviews, it sounds like C.L. Stone lost her passion for the story. Which happens all the time for creative people. Something that you were once excited about just doesn't hold that same anticipation to jump into anymore. So C.L. Stone is just checking off boxes now. At this point, I think the group should basically split apart for a few years, get girlfriends/boyfriends/life experience, and come back together when they're a little older. THEN, C.L. Stone's obsession with the characters will reignite with a more focused narrative, and it'll be worth the Audible credit.
The amount of times that I have checked this page...I do not even remember anymore! I am so excited since this is releasing this year (hopefully) And there are more books to come after this. After knowing these facts I think I can die peacefully now (god forbid) This is Victors book and I really wonder whats going to happen here. This is very slow paced so I hole C.l stone picks up the pace. I mean do not get me wrong. I love this series but i just need more..ya feel me?
Yep I’m over it, 13 books and we still don’t know who volto is, the characters are all running around clueless still and just let things happen to them, I just can’t anymore. And it sucks because I hate leaving series unfinished but it will probably take another two years for the next one to come out so at this point I’m not worried about it anymore.
I removed my last post since I finally read this book, after it sat in my library for months. Honestly I know I am judging this book after what the author did by waiting so long to come out with this, which means rereading this series until now, and realizing that this series isn't all that good as I originally thought. The story line is dragging. each book is about a different boy from the group, instead of focusing on the story, the mystery or action.. it's just another book about how they love sang. Heck it's not often you even read anything exciting. I know they are young but come on put more action into this story. Not another silly oh he left marks on my skin and the boys are sooooo totally jealous. The whole I love her and got to share, but I'm mad at seeing her hold hands with some else is killing these books faster than the author actually coming out with the next book two to three years later than expected.
I have reread the whole series and the meeting sang.. Honestly can we get an update on the possible release date or if the next book will still be released.
Usually I can inhale the ghost bird books. This one was so hard to read. It took everything I had not to DNF From the cringy wanna be m/m moment to all the boys acting completely out of character to the drugs. I just don’t get it. And nothing substantial happens in this book to even make it worth reading through all of it. Minor formatting issue but that’s no big deal and no stars were taken away from that
Is this for real? Is this a joke? I don't even know for how long have I been waiting for this book! What is this? Did she gave up on the series? Hey, C.L. Stone: Complete lack of E V E R Y T H I N G for people who's following The Ghostbird series since the beginning!
Okaaaaaayyyy…did I wait forever to read this book? Yes, yes I did. Did I read half of it when it came out then got bored because it was lagging so I stopped reading? Yes, yes I did. Did I pick this book up again yesterday and actually finish it? Yes, yes I did. I’m not gonna lie. It still lagged the second time around lol. BUT it s moving sooooo slow. For us. Not the characters. It’s going fast and the furious for them. Do I wish she got more quality time with the boys figuring stuff out? Yes. Do I wish the story line would actually move on? Yes. Do I wish I got more from OWEN???????? YES! The worst part is that I’m sooo invested. Since middle school people! Middle school. I will still be reading these books when I’m old and decrepit. I will find a way to read them in my stinkin grave if I have to!
If I don't see Sang embracing her inner slag in the next few books, I will be writing a letter of complaint...I hope to fuck she continues this series, because its been a while-
So much happens in this book!! I'm still on the fence about Mr. Buble. Having Mr. Blackborne speak highly means something, but I'm still gonna side eye hard.
Giving this three stars instead of two, because I'm not sure if some of my disconnect is because of the pandemic and book slump, or the fact that it has been so long since the last book.
I felt disconnected from the Ghost Bird series reading this book, like it wasn't the same series that I'd been reading in the 12 books prior, there were a couple of times during the book like I felt like the book, or at least parts of it, had been written by a different person.
Did I like it better than Love's Cruel Redemption? Slightly. I haven't re-read LCR lately.
Minor typos in this book, not nearly as bad as the last one. Although, if you are going to place such an emphasis on the library and characters that work in the library....maybe don't refer to it as the "Dewey decibel" system.
What was with Sang suddenly showering? Just like it was nothing, after book upon book talking about her trauma and PTSD where she can't shower or be out in the rain. And Victor is looking at a house with the biggest bedroom that has a shower....
I felt like people acted out of character in this book. Gabriel and Victor smoking pot in the bathroom while out with Sang at the concert? Victor driving Sang while stoned? (And they got awfully stoned in a short amount of time). If this was supposed to show the state of confusion and angst that Victor was experiencing, I didn't feel it.
Surprisingly, I did like Mr. Buble. Why? Because these are children who are acting like they are capable of making very adult decisions but clearly proving that they are not. They cannot seem to feed themselves, the DWI moments, smoking dope to "fit in and get information". So, Mr. Buble helping them set their priorities and achieve them? Not such a bad thing.
The book provided minimal insight into Victor, I didn't feel there were any great reveals about his history, and I didn't feel that his character was really brought forward all that much, despite the focus of the book being on him.
Where were Danielle and Marie in this book, after the emphasis placed on them in the last book?
I can understand a writer having to make a decision about whether to reference COVID in their work....but to refer to it as "that virus", and really just give it lip service and brush it off? Why bring it up at all then?
Move the series along. The whole Volto thing is getting old, as are all of us waiting for some conclusions here. Is Volto really going to drag out for the whole 20 books of the YA series?
I regret buying this book. I'm blaming pandemic lockdown.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Is it just me, or did the story feel a bit off for about half the book? Weird but the writing style was different and made me wonder if it was actually written by Stone.
The story was good but I'm beginning to get burnt out with the wait for these books. The slow progress of the story doesn't help with the frustration either. I don't mean the relationships, those are progressing at a believable rate, the Volto situation however is getting old. It feels like that plot has jumped the rails. Needs finished so we can get to other Academy jobs.
I wanted to give it 5 stars except....Character deviation
I laughed out loud several times during the car incident with Sang driving. It was a pretty good story except sometimes in later series a character does things that you know they just wouldn't do. I won't give spoilers but North ( who is one of my favorite characters) does two things he would never do in regards to Sang. It just didn't work for me. Victor and Gabriel also near the end do something that would leave Sang vulnerable. Although this story is good its disjointed. I hope this series is better than others who by the end you don't even recognize the original characters.
I am so sucked into this world that I will keep reading it forever, but the speed it moves really is glacial. This one focuses around Victor, and while they didn't take giant leaps backwards, it did still stagnant in places. There's a bit more detail and working examples of the academy at play, lots of the usual running around doing odd jobs and trying to track down Volto, and Sang gets a little bit braver. Bits of this one seemed really out of character for Victor... I know this is meant to be his spotlight with burdens to carry, but the drug use was really out of left field for one of the academy guys. And North's instructions at the end didn't seem to be something he'd ask either. But there was slight progress with the group situation, which should pay out a little more in the next instalment.
Great book but I think it’s for sure the worst in the series. Definitely was bored in first few chapters when everyone was separated from one another but it got a lot better once that whole scene was over. Had a different writing style too where it wasn’t as enjoyable to read about once in awhile. I wanted a lot more romance. This is the first book that had WAY more action than romance. Little things didn’t make sense such as the whole drugs thing. They would never do that. Also Sang taking a shower? All of a sudden she can take a shower now? I guess CL Stone forgot about that because it’s been a huge deal in the past books. Please more romance and more dr green and mr blackbourne in next book!!!
I have been waiting for this new book for what feels like forever, I wanted to love it, but it just felt off. I feel as if I need to back and read the other books again as things didn't quite match up. Little things like Sang taking a shower. When did she get over her fear? I am hoping the next book is out sooner and that these amazing, loveable characters start to move forward as this book was a little stale and repetitive.
am i the only one who is getting vibes that victor and north might get together? in the first book north is wearing a Japanese necklace and in the 12 book i rhino there was an extended scene with just the two of them, but i don’t really remember what happened. idk i could be reading too much into things
This was definitely more of plot than romance book although it's interspersed here and there. Victor kind of became an idiot here lol but still the same sweet self. I wished there was more scenes though. Where was the reunion of Victor and Sang after the accident? I just wanted a little bit more after waiting more than 2 years? Overall, still good.
I'm putting this down to 3 stars. There are a lot of scenes I really like in this book but overall it feels idk slow? disconnected? it just doesn't keep me engaged as a whole even though I enjoy a lot of the individual scenes. Not my fav of the series. Hope the next one is better :)

4.5 stars Oh my heart. My fragile little heart. It's okay Victor. I love you.
Oh and that little teaser for the next book? I am mad. You can't dangle something like that and then disappear again for another like three years! And if we think rationally it's not going to happen like they worry, but I don't want to sit here and doubt because I love

OMG guys there's finally a release date!!! I have already preordered this book despite not owning the rest of them, just because I want my hands on it as soon as possible.
Reread the first 12 books to get ready for this release and IM SO SAD ITS OVER ALREADY 😭😭 Couldn't stop reading it and now I'm left with NOTHING but hope that the next book comes out soon 🥺
I love this series so freaking much, I dread the day it ends ☹
One chapter seemed to be in the wrong place in the kindle version which tripped me up a bit, it didn't worry me too much though.
My only complaint is that it ended too soon >:( and that's on me because I binge read 🙄
I love the pacing of these books, I'm so darn attached to the characters and love the progression of their relationships
It's 2:30am and I'm just laying bed processing everything. I don't usually write reviews but since I see some people have lef5 negative reviews without having read the book, I felt it was necessary.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I have read all of the other stories in this series and have always wondered if we would be able to get inside Victor’s head to find out how he felt about the team and his place in it. This story really delved deep into Victor and how he was feeling especially about Sang. It was a real journey for him and discovering who he really wanted to be, it was especially great knowing that the Academy was right there behind him helping him in his journey.
