I was born in Bromley, England, in 1979. As a child I was a daydreamer, always away in my own world. I always read books I could get lost in - fantasy, sci-fi, adventure - anything that would transport me to another world, time or place. I loved the escape; being transported to another place, another world, that was magical.
I didn’t want to write another take on the classic fantasy tropes. Don’t get me wrong, dragons are awesome and I love a well-written story with a dragon but its been done a thousand times before. I wanted to write about something new, with creatures equally exciting and awe inspiring. I hope I’ve done that in Legends Awake, the First Book of Legends but there’s plenty more to come. I can’t wait to share this new world. I love it, and I think you will too.
I enjoyed reading this dystopian story where the main character flaws is actually evident and even if it’s believed in its superpower ability, he’s still considered human after all. But What really WOWed me about this book is the author’s take on the AUTISM SPECTRUM. One of the characters (Miles) in the story exhibit a type one autism which is called ASPERGER’S SYNDROME. The author is on point in showing all the characteristics of what this syndrome inhibits to a child. In the story, it doesn’t explain why Miles reacts the way he reacts to people and situation which often leads to him being bullied because most people judged him harshly without knowing or understanding. But also in the story, it shows how Miles coped with his environment. In his own understanding, he accepted his fate as being bullied and unaccepted because he knows what he is without explaining to people what he is. And that’s what made him a champion in the story, although a not so minor character, but I’m really glad that the author gave Miles a light and focus. Ignorance and intolerance lead to bullying.
Legends Collide was excellent! I can't wait for book 3. I heartily recommend this book, as well as the first, to anyone who likes fantasy and unlikely heroes. Legends Collide is the second book but is very readable on its own.
This is a good book with a lot of conversations which slows down the flow of the story. Also when you read from only one angle then its hard to figure out what is happening. Maybe write from a few angles or broaden the perspective
Much to like, as other reviewers have said. Some distractions: following the trail and expecting it to be relevant to them was a stretch. And the major advantage they’ll have in book 3 (I assume) they’ve blithely ignored but it’s blatantly obvious. Unlike them to miss it.
