The whole world thought I was dead. Or at least, the whole world minus my stepbrother and the men he sold me to in order to pay the bills. There were four, including him. Each with their own honorific and pension for pain... but all four of them expected me to be their good girl. To be open and ready for them at all times and without argument. So I was. I just didn't expect to enjoy it. This is a reverse harem, dark, taboo romance. Reader discretion is advised.
This book was…not for me. It was difficult to understand what was happening because it started in the middle of something and never explained what that something is. For example, where is Raya? What is this house? Why can’t she leave? Has she never been used as a prostitute before? I don’t understand. Additionally, Marco was unnecessary. I don’t think he added anything to the book and he wasn’t my type of kink, so I really didn’t enjoy him. I had high hopes, but was disappointed. If you’re looking for 3 different types of kink (daddy, bondage, step bro) and someone who wants to cause pain and only pain, I guess maybe read this. However, I’d still not recommend because Doms are supposed to make their subs feel safe and Raya didn’t even tell her Doms what was going on.
I'm not sure that I liked this book. Based on the recommendation, it was a dark, RH, stepbrother book. They got the dark and stepbrother right. But the RH is what I had a problem with. It was almost 65% into it before it started feeling like a relationship, and not just a brother pimping out his sister to his friends. Then when it did start feeling lovey, it was like it came out of nowhere, and BAM, they were all in love.
Now, this is a novella, so I didn't expect too much depth or development, but it sure did get my emotions going. There was one point where I considered not continuing because it was a bit too much for me. I got through that, and then it was like that bit never happened, everyone went on about their merry way, and then the book was over. I would have loved to see that scene that as cut off at the end, I feel like it would have been the best scene of the book. I'm not sure if I'll continue to the other books (which seem to be unrelated) since I wasn't all that impressed with this one, but then again, the sexy bits were pretty damn hot, so I just might.
There was a lot more "action" than there was storyline, which is ok but it left me wanting more information. Possible spoiler below: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What is the age gap? If she was 5 when their parents died and he was old enough not to be in foster care himself but not old enough to be her guardian then he must have been 18 at least right (though I'm pretty sure legally he could have been her guardian but possibly didn't have the means to take care of her?)? And he sold her to Gage before but thought she might not remember him so when did that happen? It sounds like she's at least 21 and probably not much older. When did the current relationship start?
I am not sure what I just read and why I liked it. It has a storyline, but most of this short story is smut. But check TW because Marco is an ass, and it does go dark.
Tabitha Rain is another first author for me . I enjoyed this dark stepbrother and his best friends reverse harem quick read and I’m looking forward to book 2 .
This really was a WTF kind of book. And yet I couldn't stop reading it. 🤪
~ I don't know what was with all of them saying breed/bred her, breed/bred me. Because by definition to breed is mating to produce offspring. Hello she's on birth control and they all know it. And how do you breed someone's mouth & a$$? ~ there really wasn't a plot ~ lot of degrading and not in a sexy kind of way ~ I would have like to read about Marco meeting his maker
