When your father is the pack Alpha, there is one rule to live by: rebel while you still can.

Fate is a funny thing. I’ve always known mine—a mate chosen for political gain to create an alliance for the Gemini Wolf Pack. Of course, I never expected he might be a fae prince. Hold my beer while I swoon. With the potential suitor on his way for a royal visit, my days of sneaking off for trysts and illegal fight clubs are numbered.

Then I meet him. Enzo.

One night of harmless fun leaves me as the only witness to the death of the Virgo Pack's heir. I should hate the wolf who killed him, but there’s an inexplicable bond that draws me to Enzo. When we’re together, I feel alive for the first time. And I’m not ready to give that up.

Dark and deadly, Enzo is like no one I’ve ever met. But I’m playing a dangerous game with rules I don’t understand. My choices are about to catch up with me...unless fate finds me first.

This is a full-length (85k) Fated Mates shifter romance for readers who love Jaymin Eve, Leia Stone, and Caroline Peckham.

Well, well, well...This was a pleasant surprise.

World is distinctive with very interesting takes on the paranormal. Several factions/species are found and the writing duo does a fab job making it clear to the reader where they fall in the hierarchy of this series.

Storyline for the most part is interesting. At times I did feel a lull in the story. There were also some points I found a bit repetitious. We are dealing with a past lives aspect, which for me started evolving a bit late in the storyline.

Zara makes some pretty selfish and for the lack of a better word dumb decisions. She is a weak point for me in the series at this time. Now, her potential to be dominant FMC is high and I hope we get there in book 2.

Enzo I am assuming is the MC....there is also, Hayden which I am pretty sure is an asshat but that has not been 100% determined. I wish there had been more of a back story for Enzo. He is intriguing but kinda blank to me.

Borderline hated the ending....you will have to read it to understand.

Even with the issues I found I still rank this rather high. There is so much possibility here I am very much looking forward to book 2.

Happy reading,
DD

Zara is the daughter of the Alpha of the Gemini Pack, which means it’s her duty to make a marriage alliance to benefit them all. Zara is less than thrilled when her prospective betrothed turns out to be a Fae prince named Hayden. Desperate to feel free for once, Zara ventures outside of her pack’s boundaries.

Unfortunately for her, she’s the sole witness to the murder of another alpha’s heir, which makes her the prime suspect. Zara knows she should loathe the hybrid who killed Nate, but something about him keeps drawing her in. If her father ever found out the truth about her and Enzo, it would be catastrophic. But Zara can’t make herself stay away.

Oh. My. Gosh. This was my first time reading something by Sophie Davis, and I was hooked from the start!!! This world that she’s created is absolutely epic, and I can’t help but crave more of it! The writing was fast paced and addicting, and I absolutely loved it. Zara is a spitfire, someone who definitely doesn’t play by the rules. I’m excited to see what happens with her next.

Hayden. I don’t want to give too much away, but your opinion of him will definitely change by the time you finish this book! Enzo. He’s someone you hate at first, but then as you understand the reasoning behind what he does, you slowly start to feel sorry for him. I think there’s more to him than we know of! I can’t wait for book two!!!

Not really sure what Hayden’s involvement in this story was at all…. Especially as a main side character and supposed “love interest”. Sadly, I was rooting for him too. ~ Instead I got to watch the MC just totally ignore their engagement despite saying “Im going to do it for my pack,” when she really isn’t trying. To summarize, it’s not a great novel but here’s to hoping it was their first shot and the rest get better.

Honestly disappointed by what I just read. There were incoherences (Zara is the second wife but in fact there is no first wife?), I had a hard time knowing if the story takes place in the real world or not because apart from modern facilities like hot tubs and cars, you don't really know where you are in the real world. Zara was unbearable, she is immature and selfish and keeps going from one man to another in the blink of an eye.

The story is very confusing, the pace is slow, almost nothing happens throughout this first book EXCEPT at the end where we are bombarded with a lot of information.

In short, I would not read the next book.

I don't think I've read something this messy before in a print form. This was a hot mess that I couldn't put down despite how many grammatical errors and typos this book had. Don't get me wrong, I had fun reading it but that "ending" was so sloppy, I'm just infuriated. It's not leaving me wanting to read more, it's leaving me fully aware I won't read the other books in this series.

I understand this book was supposed to have True Blood & Daughter of Smoke & Bone vibes, both series I loved as a teen. I still love them. This book wishes it had that energy. The characters were sloppy and it read more like the Fallen books by Lauren Kate smashed with Vampire Academy or The Vampire Diaries and not in the ways I would've loved.

This was a gift, I'm very happy for said gift but oof.

That was fantastic!
Zara's journey in this story was so good...she is far from perfect and she embraces those flaws. She is loyal to her pack while seeking ways to feel like something is in her control. The fighting rings allow for that independence and they showcase not only her physical strength, but just how observant she is and how she is a quick thinker.

One thing that warmed my heart was her connection with Zach...it made things complicated at times for them, but gave them a closeness that worked really well for their dynamic. For siblings who can push each others buttons, they still clearly care deeply for one another and they give each other space to live their owns lives.

The characters are all interesting and three-dimensional...every character has something endearing and flaws making the story even more interesting.

Without any spoilers...that ending. Wow. Really, the final few chapters were so amazing and surprising! And I mean that in a good way - I didn't see that coming, but it didn't feel like something way out from left field. It totally fit and I can't wait for Mate Rising!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was sooo good! Great characters, interesting storyline, romance, and even some fight club .... what more could you want?!. The end revealed a lot quickly but also left me needing to know what happens to the characters from there. Hopefully the next book comes soon.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for review purposes. But all opinions are my own.

I got to about 65% and just didn't care anymore.... had potential story wise, but the heroine was just too spoiled and irritating for me.

🐺✨Paranormal prophecy, intrigue, and tons of adventure!!!

What's not to love in a book led by a self assured, sarcastic, strong, independent, female wolf shifter? The problems arise when her father the alpha tries to force her into doing certain things for the good of the pack. Secrets have been kept by many on all sides. We learn along the way bits and pieces of a mysterious prophecy. Is it truth, or just a children's fairytale? There's tons of adventure action, intrigue, rebellion, deception, betrayal, romance, politics, family and all kinds of good stuff within these pages. Book one does an excellent job laying the groundwork of the story....the world building and character development are steady, and I look forward to diving deeper in future books!! This book was exciting from the moment I cracked it open 😉! There were multiple twists and turns along the way which only amped up the excitement level. I cannot wait to see what happens next!!!! Bravo!

Another awesome read by the Sophie Davis duo! I received Wolf Rising as a free download when I received some goodies with Cursed Fae, so naturally it was my next read while waiting for the release of Iron Flame. Heads up, though! This ends on a cliffhanger for the following book, and mannnn it's making me want to put off Iron Flame even more. 🤣

Zara is a wolf-shifter heir of an Alpha, whose father has arranged for her a marriage to strengthen an alliance. The only problem is - her arranged husband is fae prince.

Wolf Rising has twists and turns, a wolfy fight club, past lives, and another pack whose alpha wants Zara's head on a spike.

As I noted earlier, the book ends quickly and with a cliffhanger, making you want to rip into the following book(and do trust, I'm gonna have to!) - which was very similar to how Cursed Fae felt to me as well, thanks ladies! 😜

3.5 ⭐️ look I enjoyed it and the story has potential but something was missing for me, to give that wow factor. The MC at times just seemed a bit selfish and annoying to be honest but I do like how she thinks some things through, it can be chuckle worthy…I’m really hoping to see some major growth in her character, so she sees more around her than the world revolving around just her.

The story does have a unique plot and the twist at the end was intriguing! I wanted to like Some of the characters more (can’t say who, I’m leaving that a mystery lol) but something was missing for me with the MC and love interest.

I am curious to see where the story goes though and how it unravels in the other books.

Happy reading

There's a lot going on in this book. Zara continually rebels against what she should be doing as the Alpha's daughter and skates by without having any severe punishments when she does get caught. I found her to be quite immature and inconsistent. Yes, you're getting an arranged mating so once you find someone you do want, quit telling yourself you're all about the pack since you've spent a good chunk of the book bitching about having an arranged mating. Didn't see the past lives aspect of the plot coming and it felt like it came out of left field. There were also a lot of questions raised about bonds and the previous lives and it made me think that this is maybe a spin off of some other series.

A gripping fantasy.

I am a fan of Sophie Davis. The stories are always interesting and capture my imagination. In this story, a wolf/human is being forced to marry a Fae prince to establish a bond between the Fae and her alpha father’s pack. This alliance is important to fight off the enemy pack of wolves and the vampires closing in. However, Zara finds herself ending a relationship with a wolf from the enemy tribe after a tragedy and falling for the vampire responsible. There are many twists and turns with an unexpected ending. Of course, it is a cliffhanger - so now I need to read the next book in the series!

My only complaint were the many editing/proofreading errors that were distracting as I read. Otherwise, this is a great start to a series.

Annoying heroine

The heroine of the story, Zara is very selfish, spoiled & entitled. She does whatever she wants regardless of the consequences & then whines or throws temper tantrums when she’s caught breaking a rule. Strangely, she never receives any punishment from her father, who is the Alpha of the Pack. Yet, throughout the book we are told about strict pack rules & laws, but Zara seems to be exempt from them. Zara’s character needed more development. The book needed better editing because some sentences made no sense. Several times, the wrong word was used, so the sentence didn’t make any sense Because of all of these issues, I won’t be reading anymore books in the series. Even though, I thought the storyline was intriguing.

good but confusing at times and oh my typos

Overall I enjoyed this book. It is a unique world and plot. I did have issues with some of the details. They kept calling Zara the “second wife” but Hayden wasn’t actually married yet. There were other contradictions as well. Also, there were quite a few typos. Many of which did impact meaning/readability. I like where it ended and I will read the next but I am hoping that the storyline comes together better in the next book. There are lists of confusing pieces and characters here and I just can’t tell how they all fit together yet.

Not sure what to think about this book actually.

It was a light read, nothing much happened. Zara was a little immature and impulsive. She was an ok character most of the time, but sometimes she got annoying. Just make your mind about one guy! She was all gooey about Hayden while dreaming of Enzo. And she made impulsive decisions like a teenager.

Action scenes were very short, I wasn’t satisfied. We read a lot about Zara’s daily rutines at the palace and her dialouges with the stylist. Why?

While I was seriously thinking about dnf’ing it at %80s, things got interesting. Now I have to read the second book! 😂

Unwilling engagement to a Fae prince has Zara living her last days of freedom in pure rebellion. Unauthorised fighting rings, illicit affair, disobedience to the Alpha are just part of her daily routine.
Then she meets Enzo...a vampire werewolf shifter. An Eternal whose rising predicts the beginning of a world ending prophecy.
Add to the mix her forbidden feelings for him and you have a page turning fantasy romance involving the fate of star crossed lovers and all supernatural beings.
Can't wait to read the next book.

I was super impressed with "Wolf Rising" as it is not like every other shifter series out there but extremely original. Which is quite a compliment to Sophie Davis as this is their first shifter series that they've written. Zara is a wolf shifter that you can't help but love. Enzo is the ultimate mystery. But she's bound to Prince Hayden through an arranged marriage. If you're looking for an original fated mates, wolf shifter story with strong characters look no further than "Wolf Rising". You won't regret reading this book!

I love the stories imagined and well written by Sophie Davis. The characters come to life and the stories draw you into their worlds. Zara and Enzo are my favorite characters in this fantasy. There are so many great moments which bring up several questions that keep the story moving forward. Wanting to know the answers keep you turning the pages. This is the first book of this series and it will keep you asking for more. I highly recommend this book.

Great new series by Sophie Davis

Don’t you love those stories where all is not what it appears to be?

The layers in this story make for engaging reading. The large cast of characters assist with solid world building, and tension. There’s a lot of characters, who are not what they seem. When the threads of the story are all pulled together in the end we get a 😮 moment.

A well paced entertaining story-I’m looking forward to the next instalment of the series.

I guess if I'm annoyed by the cliff hanger it must have been good. I'd probably rate it higher but there was quite a few moments when I was confused about what was going on. And not always in that it's a mystery to discovered way. The pros: I actually was a bit shocked about who the bad guy was and I really liked the main character. A few cons in hindsight a few decision by Enzo don't make sense.

I am so sad this story is over, and I hope we get another installment sometime soon! That ending is killing me! This was my first Vella read, and I’ll miss catching up on episodes every weekend. Anyway, the story is awesome, and I highly recommend this PNR! I can’t wait to read it over again in one go. Zara and Enzo are so hot together!!

I purchased and read this early on Kindle Vella.

I really loved this book. The world is super unique. The world is super cool. I loved Zara. Zara is super fun. She is spunky and fun. She also is super strong. What I loved about her is that she doesn't take crap. Also Ebon is super good. He is a awesome book boyfriend. The romance was really good. It was sweet and nice. The book ended on a huge cliffy, but can't wait for the next one.

Great story, lots of mystery that was really good, awesome characters, good and bad. But...who would name a fae Queen MARSHA??? Did someone win a contest and author gave her name to a magical queen? Seriously. Took me right out of the story every time I read it. Lost a star. Names are important. Marsha...I can't even....

Wolf Rising annoyed me to no end. The main character Zara, I just couldn’t get past her attitude and selfishness. I loved the other characters, but Zara just couldn’t make up her mine what man she wanted. As Tamlin said to her “grow-up”. I haven’t decided if I will continue to read the series, however, I’m a bit curious where the story goes.

Unfortunately, I DNF’d at 61%.

I’m somewhat interested in the story, but Zara was quite grating. She was spoiled, impulsive, and combative. Hayden was a good person to Zara and she treated him like crap, unless she needed something. I decided to jump over to reviews to see if it would get better and it seems like it won’t, so I’ve decided to stop.

Wow! Well worth reading and has many intriguing unexpected twists in the story. The only sad thing is the fact that the next book is not out until February! Can’t wait to be able to read the second book.

Thank you for an excellent read.
