"Protecting her life is my job, but I made a grave error. I fell madly in love with her best friend."
Auden In a quest to forget my ex left me to marry a man, I turned to a few flings. Okay, more than a few, but I dare anyone to judge me after the life I’ve endured. Then, a one night stand gets a little blurry in the emotions department. He’s muscular, smooth talking, and the chemistry is so hot that thinking about him makes me buzz. The catch is he can only commit to a one month fling. It’s so good, I agree, but it’s obvious there’s something between us that can’t be ignored. His secrets are deep, and I don’t want to get burned again yet, walking away is impossible.
Beck I spend one month on duty guarding my Principal, and one month off letting loose. That’s my schedule, and I’m okay with it until I meet her. The night we meet is a little fuzzy, but our connection is not. When I wake up in the morning and discover my life-altering one night stand is my Principal’s best friend, I know I’m doomed, but I make excuses to keep Auden for as long as I can. That is until both their lives are in danger and I can only save one. My duty and honor, or the woman who I’ve fallen mercilessly for?
Rachel grew up in a small, quiet town full of loud talkers. Her words were always only loud on paper. She has been writing stories and creating characters for as long as she can remember. After living on the west coast for many years she now resides in Colorado with her husband, two children, her hairless cat, and her dog, Polly.
Honestly i didn't really like this. First time reading from this author the smut was very hot i will say that and that's really the only place I enjoyed the MC's other than that every conversation they had annoyed me it was always about "their potential relationship" the whole plot twist that was supposed to be a shocker to me just felt kinda corny and flopped. I wish I was coming with better news but lately I've been so hard to please.

I cannot remember a first chapter of a book that had me holding my breath more than this one it really is intense and had me excited for what was to come.
Auden is working through a painful breakup and although she has shut herself off from the possibility of a relationship that doesn't mean no sex. Auden has one night stands shock horror I know who would have thought. On a night out she meets Beck and they make an agreement to have a no strings fling for the month he is in town. It did take me a while to understand his job it is dangerous and shrouded in mystery. This is a story of twists that keep you guessing trying to work out what would happen next. There were parts of the story that dragged a little however I was intrigued and didn't put it down. Bearing in mind the high octane start when it came to that part in the present it was a letdown as we only see the aftermath. We are told what happened but I had been waiting for that chapter to be extended it was the hook that got me into the story so yeah I just wanted more.
Auden is a girl after my own heart since she's unapologetically herself. She's been through a painful breakup so she's closing her heart off while just partaking in random hookups. One of her hookups turns out to be Beck, and there's just something about him that has her agreeing to a one month fling, and boy are they insanely HOT HOT HOT together. Beck has secrets though, so little by little we're learning some of them making for twists coming in hot. Of course feelings are getting caught during this month, but once she learns what his job truly entails, will that finally close her heart off for good?! There were a couple of things that kept me from the 5 star rating, but I'm not going to go into those since it's a me thing as my headspace isn't at its best at the moment. So yeah, just hit those one click buttons to experience it for yourselves as I HGIHLY RECOMMEND!
Let me just start by saying, the beginning of this book? The very first chapter?....has to be one of the best starts I have ever read! No Lie! I was actually tempted to skip to near the end, to see what happened!!! I refrained but it was hard going!!
Now onto the rest of the book.... We have Auden who is trying to get over her ex and the fact that after 6years together - he's gay! Needless to say, her confidence has taken a knock as well as loosing faith in a happily ever after so she makes do with one night stands. And I liked that to be honest, we read about men playing the field so often, sleeping around and no-one bats an eye so I liked that this time, it was her 🤷🏻♀️
Then we have Beck who is very handsome, a stallion in the sack, and a workaholic with a strange work schedule! (One full month on, one off) which means although he can offer Auden more than one night, it will only be for one month!
Now bearing in mind what happened in the first chapter, I'm chomping to find out more! And the more I read - the more twists appear!!
I'll admit it did drag a tad at times, and Auden straight up peeved me off at one stage, But still I'm intrigued and I'm still flying through it and still we're getting wee twists and extras etc, I'm loving it! And just when it comes to the part that would be chapter one and I'm think yes! Here we go... it skips over to the aftermath! We find that it what happens next. And obviously we want that but I wanted a repeat and extension on chapter one! So yeah I wasn't too amused with that (just being honest!)
It's still a good read, still had me intrigued, I'm glad I read it and I would recommend. 3.5/4
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.
I’ve a new found respect for my kindle app on my mobile , for some strange unknown reason I could access the book on my kindle so I I could only read it on my mobile and it’s small so I was a little put out BUT that little device delivered a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me so I honour you my little mobile device ❣️📕😂
So I read the prologue and I’m on the edge of my rocker , both literal and figurative! What a way to start !!!! I just had to get to how we ended up where we did, in the situation we did , I needed the ALL the details ……
So after the thrilling and frightful prologue the author was kind enough to calm my nerves but run up my blood pressure 😂 Beck and Auden and HOT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So Auden is more of a love and leave them kind of girl thanks to her ex , I can’t say to much about that because it could be a spoiler but what I can say it left all sorts of emotional insecurities but all wounds can be healed with the right remedy !?
Poor Beck is stuck between a rock and a hard place , his job and his heart and his job is more than a job , his motivation to do what he does is an emotional one but very honourable , I just love him more for it ❣️
A brilliant read that delivered all I needed ….from thrills to chills in a good way and a fearful way , I cried , I laughed , I was scared , I was angry and yes I had the best time between these pages !
The way this book kicked off had me intrigued. Once we moved out of the prologue, the book slowed down a bit. I'll admit that I struggled through the next few chapters, and did put the book aside for a few days. The story did pick up speed again, especially once Auden and Beck met. From there it was a whirlwind romance, filled with the mystery about who Beck is, and what his job entails. Then there was the little side story regarding his sister, and I found that pretty interesting, even if I did call it pretty early on.
The situation with Ramsey held my attention. I wanted to know what was going on there, and I did not have that figured out until it was closer to the end of the book. I'd still love more of a backstory on Ramsey, but obviously she wasn't the main character of this book, so that isn't going to happen.
The only thing that held me back from rating this book higher is the connection between what happened in the prologue and what happened toward the end of chapter 17. I want to know how that situation (prologue) was carried out. How did they get into that position?
The Lies You Love was a pretty good story. It just didn't give me everything that I had hoped for. (like the details of chapter 17 & the prologue)
Rachel Robinson is a new to me author, and let me say I’m impressed. The Lies You Love had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. From the very first chapter to the epilogue, there are plenty of steamy scenes, a wide range of emotions, intrigue, and secrets that will rock Beck and Auden to their core. Starting from a one-night stand. Beck and Auden have an unbelievable chemistry, that has both wanting and knowing more is probably out of the realm of possibility. Auden starts off by being insecure about herself due to her past. Beck has a work schedule that keeps him unavailable for a month at a time in conjunction with the fact he’s a workaholic. He knows he’s not relationship material but he can’t seem to let Auden go. (Not in a creepy way). The thought of her consumes him. I highly recommend The Lies You Love and look forward to reading more from Rachel Robinson. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and were not influenced by the author or her promotional team.

I love when a book opens on an intense scene and then goes back in time to tell the story. This opening had me hooked and ready to dive in! I was completely sucked into this story and I couldn't read it fast enough. Gray and Beck watch Ramsey like a hawk, but soon things got twisted and took a turn Beck didn't see coming. I loved the chemistry between Beck and Auden. I wanted things to work out between them. They slipped past each other's guard and real feelings emerged. I loved the push/pull of this story and I didn't want it to be over! There were so many questions I had reading this book and I loved how the reader is given little tidbits throughout the story. This was a fantastic book and I simply loved it!
This is Beck and Auden’s story. Beck is a workaholic who works to a scheduled, with one month on and one month off from protecting a client. Auden is struggling to get over her ex, and after revelations come to light, her confidence has taken a knock. When these two have a one-night stand, Beck is taken aback to recognize Auden as his client’s best friend, and he only has a month to commit to, which she agrees. This is a well written story which has secrets, twists, surprises, intrigue, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
After learning that her fiancé was not the man Auden thought he was and that they would not be having the life they planned she is determined to protect her heart and that means one night with a man and moving on. This decision was working well for her until Beck came into her life and one night was not enough but one month was all they could have.
Beck has a demanding job that allows him to only make plans one month at a time. When he meets Auden the sparks fly but their lives are tied in a way that is not only complicated but dangerous as well.
Compelling characters and surprises you don’t see coming as Auden and Beck take us on quite the adventure.
This is the second book in the Charge Men series, a Romantic Suspense. Auden and Beck's story is suspenseful, action packed, and captivating! They share an instant attraction, and their chemistry is hot! The opening scene is breathtaking! The storyline is an emotional rollercoaster, filled with mystery, secrets, and intrigue. I liked the twists and turns. Impossible to put it down. I enjoyed it.
Auden and Beck's story is an unpredictable, captivating story full of suspense and action. Right from the start, it sets the tone for the whole book and kept your attention throughout. It was filled with lots of twists and turns and the hot chemistry and attraction between them helped too.
Auden and Beck we’re suppose to be temporary and literally had a expiration date but things never go as planned lol. Beck is the confidence booster that Auden needs after her ex but the twists and turns of the story made it hard to not see what would happen next
The Lies You Love was a captivating novel. I really enjoyed learning about the life and duties of a Charge Man and how things aren't always as they seem. Auden and Beck had a beautiful story of fate that I loved!
Oooo this is difficult to review. I’m not sure if I really enjoyed it or if I hated it because of one thing missing… The action scene! And the expansion of that scene other then just the first chapter. Who the hell is he and why did he do it? And what happened after! Gah! I think it was a 3.5/4 star for me because the missing parts are still irking me.
But if that chapter was included it would have been a 5 star for me. Loved the twists and the drama. The scenes were hot and varied. The chemistry was a bit dry at the start but it got great quickly. I wonder if anyone else noticed that Auden nearly did what Walker did to her, she obviously didn’t.
This was book 2 in the series, I didn’t read the first one and don’t feel like my reading or connection to the story was hindered by it, so it’s great connected standalone.
This is a great book for those who want a quick turn around on drama and perfect wrap up, it was a satisfying HEA :)
