OK so... maybe I expected a bit more, but hey, it's book number 21!!

Wow, I never would have expected any series in this world to be good enough (or fun enough) to keep me hooked for 21 books

21!

I am still in awe of this author and how he managed to do this

So yes, if you wanna challenge yourself, see if you can find a series that can keep you with it for months, then this one is definitely worth a try. It is so unexpected, so fun, so, well... out of this world (**pun intended**)!

Yes, give it a try.

Michael Anderle, you, sir, are AWESOME!

The end is just the beginning....

This book brings the original series to an end. Life Goes On ties up plot lines, shows connections to other books in the universe and opens new paths for future stories. MA has not only created an enjoyable story universe but also an amazing family of authors and readers...Go indie authors!

This book is a bit like reading a comic book without the pictures, actually it’s like reading several different comic books that have been cut up and then randomly put back together again. Coupled with the some of the ridiculous banter, it’s hard work trying to follow this story. What keeps me going, are the great characters and every now and then there is an interesting storyline.

This was not one of those books with a great plot. After a short action packed beginning the story then began to drag, the only highlight of the first half of the story seemed to be how many bottles of beer they should drink. The return to Earth and BA’s reunion with Michael, should have been more interesting, but I’m afraid I didn’t find it particularly exciting and although there were a couple of promising incidents, the story just faded away.

Well... the title really says it all. This is the last book in the Kurtherian Gambit series, but not the end of the story. This is no grand finale, but a confusing mix of epilogue, set up for new story arcs and/or bridge to what ever spin-off you might want to jump to next. It left me feeling kind of satisfied and kind of not... And I have to say that I found the reunion between BA and Michael as "explosive" as it was, a bit of a let down on an emotional level. But maybe that's just me...

It had a few chuckle out loud moments but overall I thought the reunion scene, which is also shown in the series about Michael, was a bit anticlimactic and... immature.

Overall kinda fun, but certainly not the end of the series.

What a finish!!!!

What a way to end a wild and fantastic ride. I really loved how Michael tied up all the loose ends with the main series. I can't wait to see what is in store of for BA and crew.

Very disappointing. WOW, what an anti-climatic re-union and a resultant preganancy (YAWN , boring), getting very desparate to introduce that part so quickly.
It is time to put the whole Kurtherian Universe to bed.
BA books have gone downhill since #15. I still give them a high rating because of the original books.
All the latest novels including the spinoffs have evolved into SOS (same old shite) with no
new story-lines just a repitition of the previous plots with new characters, planets, EIs and AIs. With the exception being the Rise Of Magic series. I have bought all the other Age/Rise Of Magic series's and will get to those shortly.

A benefit of the extended series was been the introduction of the spin-off authors and their own works of which the Oriceran Universe/Federal Witch/Athena Lee series have been very entertaining.
Unfortuantely Federal witch and Athena Lee are devolving into a broader universe and becoming irrelevant.

Disjointed, formless, unfocused, rehashed story lines with a lot of loose ends and pointless scenes. if you're a fan of the KG universe, you'll probably like the book, but I think the series has taken an immense nosedive over the last few books. This book read like one giant epilogue.

Bittersweet

It has been very much anticipated and MA never let us down... The Zon might have but that is another story.
Wow! What a ride. I didn't think it was possible to write at MA's prolific pace, let alone the gut wrenching, pulse pounding, amazing storylines. I'm shedding quite a lot of tears that the series is over, but I am VERY eagerly awaiting the continuation of BA, Michael and gang.
MA has become quite the inspirational person in the writing world as far as I'm concerned. I wish I had even a lick of talent to write, but alas, I will keep reading my 6 to 7 books a week and dream.
Congratulations MA! Well done!

Another cracking book in the series..

A great ending to the story of leaving Earth to protect it and take the fight to the aliens endangering it.

What an anticlimax after all the hype!

Disappointed in this one. After all the hype this felt like a major let down. Not only was not enough attention paid to how Michael survived but the actual return to Earth was downplayed to the extent that it felt flat and sizzles like a damp squid on Bonfire Night.
Really disappointed in this - waited through all the books for this?!
The Empire is now a Federation and she has managed to hide the Gate and ships plus the goodbyes have been said and the return to Earth is imminent. Will Earth be ready for her? Will any more Kurtherian surprises pop up?

Good finale!

First of all this was a good book. Michael Anderle’s writing style is captivating and engaging.
That being said I have some problems with this book.
1- The Gott Verdammt expression that drives me mad. In this book it showed up four times once used by Lance Reynolds and the other three by BA.
2- There are some scenes that are so cheesy it made me cringe but that doesn’t mean they weren’t good. Who says cheesy can’t be good? It can and sometimes it IS.
There is a big chunk of the story missing! From chapter 25 to chapter 26 there is a black hole in the middle. Bethany Ann and Michael are getting ready for a date in Japan and on chapter 26 they’re in San Francisco meeting up with the characters from the spin off series. And some mention of some rescue of the Elite guard. WTF?
I went back to read chapter 25 thinking that I had skipped something. But, no. It just didn’t make any sense. I soldiered on reading but not happy with the development of the story. Because they were on Earth and then suddenly they were back in Devon/High Tortuga.
That’s why it was a 3 stars for me.

Just finished the last one in the first series. I binge read all 21 back to back and immersed myself in the Kurtherian Gambit. (Thank you kindle unlimited) I really like space agey books and the mix of vampires and werewolves, and super inhanced humans plus aliens was fun. I know I've read a couple of Michael Anderle's collaborations with other authors and enjoyed them too. It shows me how difficult it can be to keep track of all the interwoven story lines over a few years of writing. I think I will need to set up a timeline and put each character into it at the moment of entrance and exit; and remind myself if they have a continuing story outside the main 'work in progress'. MA is right too and thank you for the reminder. If you have an ongoing love interest, don't kill one of them off , at least not unless you create the opportunity for resurrection, it pisses the reader off. Great read and so much better than TV. (The pictures in my head are so much better than someone else's) 🚀❤️

4.5 I’m Here To Consume All The Chocolate Available Stars

Life Goes On is the twenty-first book in The Kurtherian Gambit series by Michael Anderle.

This adaptation, although extremely similar in a few scenes, of Michael and Bethany Anne’s reunion is LEAGUES ABOVE what was presented in Michael’s spin-off series. Which honestly NEVER measured up to this series, and felt so entirely compressed and disconnected. Especially in comparison.

I wonder at the mysteries TOM and ADAM are keeping form Bethany Anne. I wonder out how the story will shape Earth, and Devon, and Bad Company. The further we go on, the more this journey branches out. Sending our favorite characters, our original members into far reaches from each other. I hope to be able to check in on them all, or I will continue to miss them dearly.

Here comes a lil’ Bethany Anne baby. During a Kurtherian hunting mission. What could possibly go wrong?

When I first started reading this, I thought that my reading list had put it in the wrong order with Dawn Arrives but, as the story unfolded, I realised that it was the perfect, ultimate, final book to the Gambit arc.

Reading this was actually quite a bittersweet feeling for me. I don't know if, or when, I will read of all my fave characters, in all the new series I've got ahead of me but, on the other hand, there's so many new series to look forward to!

Whatever the case, though, this book did an excellent job of gathering all those wonderful characters together again, helping them make new starts, with new relationships, or deepening old ones, and looking forwards to their next leg of the journey, that started so many years ago on planet Earth.

I loved this, and feel a little sad that it's all over, but also looking to what's next - which, according to my reading list, is Book One of the series Bad Company: Gateway to the Universe - a great title to start off the new arc!

21 books in the series, and this one jumped around a ton for me. Half the time I had no idea what was going on... The BA and Michael reunion wasn't as exciting as I was expecting. I feel like all of these other books really explained to death all the other relationships of side characters, but when it came to the MC, it was glossed over and I wish I could've read what went on between the two of them more.
As for the series as a whole goes, (I didn't read most of the spin off books) it was good. The beginning books were better for me than the later ones. More than likely due to my unwillingness to read the side-stories. I did try the first 2 Michael coming back to life ones, but couldn't really get into them. I kind of hated Jacqueline and skimmed her POVs as much as I could before I gave up all together.

Amazing storytelling!

I just finished the entire 21 books. The storytelling is a joy to read. A wonderful blend of adventure, a lot of violence but all is interspersed with good humor. I must admit that if it wasn’t for the wonderful characters, character development and great storytelling, I probably wouldn’t have read much of even the first book - because of the language. That said, I enjoyed all the positives enough to just let the language be what it was - even some of the ways that was handled was humorous.
I must add that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael’s notes at the ends of the books. If I ever had a chance to meet him in person at a book signing, it would be a pleasure to shake his hand. It’s great that he is so engaged in being supportive to other writers.
Thank you Mr. Anderle and keep up the good work!

Love the universe

I am rating the universe rather than this particular book. I do like the book. It does tie the different sub series together. I love all genres of sf/fantasy and I get them all in one universe. Some I like better than others. I am looking forward to stories about the 2 madness and how it came about. Please hurry with those stories. To let you know this the first review of a book or series I have ever written that's how much I am impressed over aĺl with what you have accomplished with this universe of yours. I do think Nathan's daughter in the early books remind me of Hitgirll and not in a good way. She seems a little physico and her parents encourages it. Not good parenting, just saying. Keep writing!

As disappointing as the end of the Twilight Series

21 books in this first series and the author couldn't finish what he started.

That number doesn't include all of the sub books in the series of series' spinoffs.

I think he was able to take out a handful of the problems that he started writing about.

This last book was simply a setup for us to learn the author isn't done yet. This book is arguably as disappointing as the build-up in the Twilight Series in the last book to the last fight. Truly the only book I ever throughout a wall and the only reason I didn't treat this book the same way is because it is on my kindle.

You could probably skip this book no problem and move directly to the next series. Even the Michael and BA reconnected anticlimactic.

OMG and Damn this is a good book. I have been waiting for soooo long for this part of BA's story! I'm not going to spoil it for my friends (on facebook) or new friends on Amazon reviews. You will just have to trust me. I will say that there are places that made me cry with joy, (I cry easily, even at commercials. Usually the one's that come out around Christmas. My EX used to carry around a handkerchief or Kleenex for me. One of five things he used to do that made me happy. All the other stuff made him my EX.)
I identify with BA and some of the other characters, and I am glad you are starting a new Arc. Even if it is "end-game". So keep pumping out books for Mr. Brownstone, pretty please!!

I love this universe

When I started reading this series with the first book Death Becomes Her it was about 2 weeks ago... now I am at the end.. or is it still the end? This author will grip your attention and never let it go! And I don't want him too.. I live his humor, characters, and over worlds that he has created and I don't want them to stop. If your looking for a series that is good from being to the end.. ? Then you must pick up this book and the 1st one of the series and come and join the fun.. smart, compassionate but not a pushover female leads and all her friends who you will fall in love with.. you get everything in this world..

Superb series ,hilarious verbiage , great visuals.

I want you to know I had never heard of you till I started this series 2 months ago. I have read nothing else but this series and the shorts in between. I've got nothing done unless absolutely needed. I can't rave enough about how much I've enjoyed these books. Thank you from the bottom of my pea picking heart. I'd cuss but gave it up. For now. Starting your next series . Write fast I'm a fast reader. Love you Mike. I can say that with all honesty. You rock along with your tribe. Thanks to the wife for the shoes. Couldn't ware them but loved their inclusion. God bless. Thank you .

So worth the wait!

Although I wish we didn't have to. Anyway wow, I don't like it when a series I absolutely love ends but what an ending! I started to read this series from the beginning while waiting for this to go live and I noticed that not only have the characters in this series matured, but the writing has also. I am really glad that I decided to see why what I thought of vampires and werewolves was so very wrong.
You have built an impressive world and I can't wait to see where you take it from here. Bravo Mr. Author man. I know now why you are Yoda.

Hell of an ending to a hell of a series

I've been reading or devouring these books as they come out generally in 1 or 2 nights and at the beginning writing it I'd have to wait a year between books or like with my other favorite series Dresden Files the author may just disappear later in the series but that never happened, Michael consistently released quality stories in a rapid schedule and this book is a fitting end to a great series, I'm really looking forward to the continuation series

Well, I'm crazy. I just read 21 books...

Not including the side stories and complementary stories and spin off stories, which I am still working on. It is a pleasure to know that I have hundreds (actually hundreds!) more stories to read. The universe is actually a universe. It all started when Bill died and a woman in a black government group learned she was dying, and I have enjoyed the ride so much. It's been wild, I haven't liked all of it, but I was fully engaged and thoroughly entertained. Thanks to the team that got these published!
