Northampton Hearts #2

Fourteen Days of Valentines

She’s looking for closure, but he wants an opening…

For three years, contractor Savannah Chapman has carried on her late fiancé’s tradition of anonymously donating toys and cards to the Caring Heart Kids’ Club during the two weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. But knowing she needs to move forward with her life, she decides this will be her last year playing Cupid—until her identity is discovered by a volunteer. Suddenly he’s convincing her to honor a past contracting bid and tempting her to feel things she knows she shouldn’t.

Adam Kelly, a child psychiatrist and club volunteer, is an expert at helping others while always ignoring his own heart. But when he meets the beautiful and kind-hearted Savannah and learns what drives her, hurts from his own past resurface. He strikes a deal with Savannah: if she’ll complete the club’s much-needed expansion, he’ll take over her secret Valentine duties so she can move forward guilt-free.

Will the club be the glue Savannah and Adam can use to build a new life together, or will the past tear them apart?

Category Romance part of Tule Publishing’s American Heart line.
I loved book 1 in this series and book 2 was just as delightful! Such a fun, small town contemporary romance series set around holidays! I loved that this one was set during the Valentine’s Day season.

This is a sweet romance centered around the Valentine holiday. It kept my attention and I was rooting for the couple. Trust is hard for both of them. The author gives us a good plot as the couple have to overcome the guilt and disappointment of previous relationships and move on despite their fears of the unknown. A bonus character for me is teenager Audrey whose outlook is changed for the better once she gets involved in activities. Enjoyable read.

Chemistry is mixing for Savannah and Adam but the elements are battling each other. Heartache and downright fear hold both of them back from the desire they feel. An engaging romance set in a Valentine love setting with Cupid’s arrows zinging by.

This is a sweet little romance that is almost lost over angst of past relationships. Interesting characters I especially liked a secondary character Audrey, a sullen teenage girl at first but we get to see her whole personality change with some care and attention from the main characters, it’s very heartwarming.
I was gifted an advance reader’s copy of this book in return for my review.

I received this arc of Fourteen Days of Valentines from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in Charlee James’ series, Northampton Hearts. I read the first book but didn’t need it to be able to follow the new book. This is a well written and sweet romance. I’ve read many books by this author and like the others I’ve read, I loved this story too.

As the title implies, this is a Valentine themed story. The heroine, Savannah, lost her fiancé 3 years ago in an accident that she has blamed herself for. We learn that she broke up with Peter and he left their condo and ended up in a fatal car accident. Savannah owns a construction company. Her former fiancé had gone to the Caring Hearts Kids Club as a child and as an adult had continued to give back, including being a secret Cupid at the Valentines holiday. Savannah has continued to secretly bring presents for the 14 days leading up to the holiday. She has decided this will be the last year as she needs to move on from her ex’s death.

While Savannah stops for coffee she meets Adam who she learns is a psychiatrist and volunteer at Caring Kids. Later she goes to drop off her secret treats and is seen by Adam when she falls outside the building. He agrees to keep her secret. Then we learn that 4 years prior she had made a bid on an expansion project for the center for when a possible grant was received. The director was notified that they got the grant and he contacted Samantha to accept her bid. She decides to decline taking the project as she is trying to distance herself from the center. Adam suggests he take over being the secret Cupid if she will take on the expansion project.

Samantha and Adam noticed when they first met there was chemistry between the two. She is reluctant to pursue it as she hasn’t gotten over all the feelings and sadness from her ex and his death. Adam also has sadness in his past that prevents him from starting a new relationship. She decides to go ahead and take the job expanding the center and he steps up to do the Cupid tasks. They work together to plan their gifts and continue to notice their feelings toward each other. There are some surprises and angst and the reader continues to root for a happily ever after. It is a wonderful book. The characters are wonderful, so genuine and likable. I give it 5 stars.

This is Savannah Chapman and Adam Kelly's story.
Savannah Chapman’s chuckle echoed through the empty living room of her two-bedroom apartment in downtown Northampton, Massachusetts.
There’d been a time when she couldn’t read Peter’s corny jokes without tears soaking her cheeks, or that deep, crushing pull in her chest.
Now, even though her late fiancé’s words tugged her heartstrings each February, they were also a reminder of the good in the world.
“Go ahead. I have a really large order.” A deep baritone cut through the murmur of conversation and the shuffle of activity in the café.
She tore her gaze from the glazed confections and looked up into the steady eyes of a stranger.
He was waiting expectantly, but all she could focus on were his eyes.
I recommend reading.
Fourteen Days of Valentines by Charlee James is a 4 star book.

Fourteen Days of Valentines (Northampton Hearts Book 2) by Charlee James follows up Twelve Dates of Christmas with a story of healing and recovery so that one is ready to find love again. Construction Contractor Savannah Chapman is a lovely character along with Adam Kelly, a child psychiatrist. For different reasons both have an interest in the Caring Heart Kid’s Club. This throws them into contact with leads to a mutual respect then love. Because of their past it is a bumpy road for them.

I liked how Savannah is matter of fact about her company, her goals, and her ability. This is not a story of a women having to fight to succeed in what had previously been a male dominated field. She is confident, skilled and knows how to run a business. So it was surprising that she allowed grief and guilt to control her for so long. Adam is not without his baggage too but his is of a different nature. These two deserve to find love so I was rooting for them all the way.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Set in Northampton, Massachusetts, Fourteen Dates Of Valentines is a charming romance with themes including guilt, trust, loss, healing and community values.
Savannah Chapman is carrying a mountain of guilt over the death of her fiancé on the night she ended their engagement. She’s reluctant to enter into a new relationship, “What was the point of love if you could lose it in a breath?” Adam Kelly is equally reluctant to get involved with anybody. He hasn’t got over the feeling of rejection after finding his girlfriend in bed with a co-worker. Despite their issues, Savannah and Adam are immediately attracted each other and discover an easy camaraderie as they work together to organise experiences for disadvantaged children at the Caring Hearts kids club where volunteers.
I liked these two. It was clear pretty early on that they both deserved a second chance and I found myself cheering for them. There were times where I thought the story pushed the boundaries of belief just a bit but it is fiction so I forgave that. Overall, it’s been a light and fun book to read and I enjoyed it.

A sweet romance of a second chance at love. Contractor, Savannah is carrying on the tradition of her late fiance by anomalously donating to the children's center for 2 weeks before Valentine's day. She creates craft boxes for all the kids but has decided this is her last year. Adam is a child psychiatrist who donates time to the center. He discovers that Savannah is thinking of stopping so he volunteers to take over the gifts if she agrees to build the addition for the center. A nice quick read that moves quickly. This is book 2 in the Northampton hearts series and can be read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This sweet, clean romance was really a wonderful delight for the approach to Valentine's Day. Savannah and Adam had both been burned in the love department before and although the attraction was instantaneous when they met, neither is even remotely interested in getting involved. They resign each other to the friend zone, but will their mutual volunteer work for a children's organization make the attraction impossible to resist? Will one or both let their past make them retreat again?

A very enjoyable story of the heart and love.

What a wonderful and enjoyable read. Savannah and Adam were a perfect match. Neither of them are looking for a relationship. They do find friendship with each other. Will their friendship help them overcome what is holding them back? Will they figure out that they are a perfect match? This is a great read from start to finish with an interesting story line and very enjoyable characters. You do not want to miss out on reading this. The perfect sweet romance for Valentine's Day. Savannah and Adam have both had relationship failures in the past and have agreed to be friends. They volunteer together at the local kids club, Savannah is playing Cupid to the kids in preparation for Valentine's Day and soon Adam is helping along. Will they be able to open their hearts up again to love?

Loved these characters, both fighting their hearts from previous failures but learn to move forward. Loved how Audrey from the kid's club came out of her shell. Loved the valentine riddles too!!

I am so happy I found this series because I have greatly enjoyed these adorable romances. This time we met Savannah, a contractor who had stepped in for her late fiancé as the secret Cupid for the Caring Heart Kids’ Club. When volunteer Adam discovered she was the undercover benefactor, he struck a deal to take over the Cupid duties if Savannah’s company would complete the club’s expansion project. What ensued was fun events with the kids as Adam and Hannah grew closer and closer. Their romance was a bit of a slow burn due to Adam’s trust issues from a past betrayal and Hannah’s guilt surrounding her fiancé’s death, but it was so lovely to watch it unfold.

My one and only pet peeve was that the author kept using psychology and psychiatry interchangeable. They are not the same. I let that go though because the romance between Savannah and Adam was precious. I also loved the 14 Days of Valentines, and all the wonderful things they did for those kids from the center. In the last book, it was all about the dates, but here, is was more about the things involving the kids. The planning and the events made me smile, and the kids were pretty cute and charming too.

Overall: A delightful small town romance featuring a couple that was easy to root for. The community element was a plus for me, and I had so much fun during those 14 days of valentines.
