A thoroughly entertaining read with a wonderful cast of charismatic characters in caravans who romp from one dramatic catastrophe to another. Touching, captivating, and very, very funny.
A group of strangers pitching up on a Cotswold caravan site, looking for rest and relaxation but instead encountering starvation, sleep deprivation, dehydration, motorbikers, drunken yummy-mummies, the police, shredded feet, unexpected nakedness, curries, the great loo run, and a line dancing barbecue. Oh, and the creepy guy in a tent at the bottom of the field.
It was a camping trip like no other and it would change all their lives.
A charismatic cast of characters that you’ll fall in love with. It’s about friendship, the kindness of campers, and the heart-warming humor of people getting on each other’s nerves.
You’ll be so emotionally exhausted after reading this you’ll need a holiday to recover.
Good old fashioned funny memories if you remember caravaning
Loved this... Memories of caravanning as a child, the friendships your parents created and yourselves.. Laugh out loud in places, comfort between pages
I loved this book, hard to put down, an easy read. Loved getting into the characters lives however I was left wanting more at the end. I felt that the book didn’t finish properly or leave me with a promise that all will be revealed in a sequel. I have read the final chapter a few times in case I had missed a vital piece. Overall I loved the trials and tribulations of the campers from one who has never camped. Would recommend.
Often reviews say that the book is a laugh a minute...but they never are! This however, made me genuinely laugh out loud and I can't wait for the follow up.
At first this book did make me giggle, we also go camping in a Motorhome, so could see the funny side of this story. As the book went on I found it getting a bit over the top with what was happening and soon lost interest. Maybe if I kept reading it would of got better.
I really enjoyed this book, already have the sequel downloaded to read. We are campers with a 5th wheel so I always enjoy camping books but this one is really different! This one is set in England so it was interesting to see some of the big differences in the "caravans" over there compared to our trailers in the U.S. It is very British in the language and terms but most I was familiar with, if I wasn't I looked them up on my kindle. It's mainly 5 different sets of campers in various types of camping units with a few others mentioned at points. I actually found myself laughing out loud at points. I don't want to give big plot points away, I'll just say if it sounds interesting to you do yourself a favor and read it!!
Not everyone can say they’ve sat and read their aunties book! An easy read with a lovely story line, although I couldn’t help but picture my auntie & uncle as the characters ‘Faye & Brian’ capturing their personalities and accents within their roles. This is different to my usually genre of choice but it’s been a welcome change and I now must read the rest of the series! A lovely book which captures the unique friendships that can develop when leaving the comfort of your own home
Absolutely delighted have spent time reading this when I had lots of other things to do. Couldn’t wait to see what happened to everyone. Didn’t disappoint. Thank you
New to this author, this is not my normal read but something attracted me to it (I don't even go camping ) I also like story's told in the head of the main characters (this is not) This is not a love story or a murder mystery, it's based around a group of people camping, our main leads are Faye and Brian in there 50s been married 23 years got two kids (but not in the book of even on the phone) along with five other main characters some younger some about same age.
I would say this is a very British humour book, set in england with English people (Most books I read these days the characters are American, even if they are not in america) so that was fun to read. This book focus was more on being kind and new friendships. Yes a few had just broken up etc with partners and you see them finding themselves again with great new friends standing by them.
I did like the buying tipping point book in the shop (authors own book) in the book, clever.
It's a fun read loads happen very entertaining, I was routing for Olivia to make a stand.wanting to shake Jim to stop being selfish, loved Mark and was praying his ex gets nothing, loved Sophie and Tel getting closer and learning the common people are good people, even the two mums with kids surprised me, wanted to slap Richard and send him packing, wanted to shoo Julie away and tell her to find a unmarried man, let's not forget Ant really he needs a different job. I loved the journey, it's ends with a closer but a opening for more (this is book one)
I probably would not have picked this book to read, had it not been recommended by one of the librarians. A successful recommendation as I enjoyed it and found myself laughing out loud. A good laugh was just what I needed.
Basically a story about a weekend on a campsite in the Cotswolds, where the campers in residence were all looking for relaxation in their own way. However it turns into a camping trip like no other with some interesting and hilarious situations arising!
I shall certainly be on the look out for the sequels. They say laughter is the best medicine and this really did deliver the laughs and will appeal to campers and non-campers alike.
Camping holiday shenanigans ensue in this funny, heartwarming tale of the friendships formed through adversity with fellow caravaners on a pretty poorly maintained site.
Brian and Faye are old school experts there to help the newbies and getting pulled into all the drama as it unfolds. Tel and Sophia are high powered lawyers trying to escape the rat race for a week, Mark is local and escaping a difficult home life, Jim and Julie are scroungers hiding in the camp site away from Jim’s wife. Olivia keeps her caravan spotless whilst her husband Richard travels to research his book.
With yummy mommies, entitled children, storms forcing a rethink, hilarious mishaps, hidden lives, secrets and deception, this is like a modern day carry on film and is an easy feel good read that made me laugh out loud in places.
A hit-and-miss comedy with reasonable characters getting themselves into preposterous scrapes. I liked Faye and Brian quite a lot, Mark seemed to be a pleasant non-entity and the relationship between Richard and Olivia was quite chilling at the beginning.
However, the gross out scenes were awful and went on too long while some characters were literally unbelievable: Olivia seemed bizarre in her childlike simplicity while Tel and Sophie were unlikely corporate lawyers. And even by the standards of farce, the resolution of the 'creepy man' plot line was ridiculous.

I'm not really sure what I was expecting from this book, to be honest.
I found it quite dialogue heavy and would have loved some more descriptive chapters of the area and places visited.
That being said, I enjoyed the characters who come from all walks of life and with varying degrees of life experiences.
I enjoyed the different relationships and friendships made throughout and the sense of community and comradery when difficult, challenging events occurred.
Overall, it was a fun, light read, one to while away a couple of hours happily.
So glad I came across this book series! One of the best, well-written books I have read for a long time. All of the characters are believable, individually funny, and I felt that I was (almost) on site with them, enjoying the ride, as it were. I read this book within 24 hours, it was, is, that good, and I can't wait to dive into the next one in the series. Long may the author continue writing books of such great content.
I can see a lot of book lovers have given this 4 to 5 stars. I I wanted a light funny book to read for the summer. I got into the characters and could see some funny bits from our own experiences as a caravan owner. But after a while I found it a bit tedious and so over the top in places. The grammar and odd mistakes didn’t help. Sorry this just wasn’t my type of book to read.
Brilliant! Nothing I didn't like. Couldn't stop reading. I could picture everything and everyone. Can't wait for the next book. So cleverly written. Great sense of humour.
Brilliant book, I have never laughed as much as I did reading this book. The characters are like real normal people you speak to on the street. I can't wait to read the next book.
Absolutely fantastic book I really enjoyed listening to this book, you will be laughing from being to end. I listened to this book via audiobooks well read. I looking forward to the next book in the series of fun. Thanks for letting me have this free book.
Littered with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, as well as random words inserted into certain sentences that made little to no sense. Once or twice I could ignore but there were too many to count.
The plot was light and somewhat entertaining in place, but very predictable.
excellent fun. if you only this happened when camping!!
Thoroughly good read. Lighthearted fun. Would love this to happen to us when camping haha ! Great characters and a semblance of truth about camping in general
Wow I loved this so much! So funny and loved the camper couples, reminds me of when I go camping with my partner if only we made friendships like these guys from start to finish it’s funny and to me a cozy read I really recommend it….cannot wait to start book 2!
I went into this book thinking it would be mini stories of different camping couples. I love that it follows the couples as a big group. The characters are so likeable and it gave me a good giggle. These are definitely the type of people you meet when you’re camping/caravaning 🤣
Don't usually read books like this but thought I'd give. It a go. I am so pleased I did it was funny, heartwarming and the characters were so like people I know so I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
