Am I surprised? Nope! I saw that mess coming from a mile away. This last issue was still great fun to read. And as mentioned in the first one: the art style is so beautiful.

3.25/5

Well that's a way to get out of a relationship!

Now when it comes to the whole series I'll give it a 3/5. Solid art style but predictable storyline. Bit rushed too, I never connected with the main character and she felt quite flat to me. The middle issue was a slog, something more interesting could have happened. It was an interesting but superficial way to talk about abuse.

"You know what I am. I am the something that loves you. The something that you love."

This is the last instalment of this series. Ro has finally discovered that making friends with, and loving something, which comes from the shadows is perhaps not the wisest idea. From initially drawing inspiration from the creature, she then realises that to stay with it would be to lose herself: her power, her control, her identity, and perhaps even her life. The full horror of her situation has finally dawned upon her, but will she be able to put things right?
I am swinging from 4 to 5 stars for this one, so perhaps I should just go down the middle and say it is 4.5. The reason for this is that, for me, I felt that there were still some questions that I had which have been left unanswered. There isn't truly an explanation of what the thing was. But, from considering the quote above which is its response to her query, maybe the thing is a metaphor for us loving something that can either sustain us, or destroy us. I'm not sure, but it has left me thinking...

Interesting concept, below average execution.

The switch of the protagonist was wayyyy too abrupt.

Vaya relación... buena forma de terminar?
No estuvo mal, pero sí me hubiera gustado otro final, más completo.

Really enjoyed this little horror story, wished I read it earlier because this would have been perfect to read on Halloween.

An explosive ending! This issue started off with some of the most disturbing imagery in the series. Not to spoil anything, but a corpse might have been used as a puppet. I loved how much the ghost/monster's appearance shifted in this issue. Throughout the series, the mysterious entity has become more and more revealed to the reader until it truly looked like a terrifying monster.

not sure

I devoured the five issues of this very fast but I’m unsure if the ending did the beauty of the other issues and the idea Justice. It felt a bit too cookie cutter for me, I would’ve liked to see her falling more into madness and maybe becoming somewhat of a monster herself.

The monster doesn’t always have to lose. I get it murdered someone but again it didn’t understand and yes it was made out to be an abusive sort of romance but I dunno.

Maybe I just expected more romance? It seemed to cycle through the romance so fast this ending felt hollow.

I’d still recommend it, cuz the art is great and I loved the overall idea.

Quite the allegory...

Though this is written as a review of the last issue it really is meant as a review of the whole five issue ark. Skottie Young has crafted quite the allegory in these pages and I would recommend, but, also caution their is a darkness that exists all too real places...

I just read all 5 of The Me you Love in the dark and it was very compelling. I was drawn into the story and once I started to read, I couldn't stop until I finished them. It was not my usual story, but it was very good and the art was great!

The art style you get used to it but it was interesting as well as the story.

About Ro who is an artist who is trying to find her muse in a "haunted house" and from there on she meets the one who haunts it and the story goes quite interestingly.

Really enjoyed reading this series. I found it to have a Dorian Gray esc feel to it mixed with other classics.

The Me You Love in the Dark, by Young
Intense modern ‘haunted house’ / ‘monster in the basement’ tale. ‘Beauty and the Beast’ turns ghastly.

#5 – There’s always a way out, but, gosh, costly!

All up in flames. Good open ending that makes you think about what the "ghost" represents. This series was a quick read, and I love it. It felt complete. Full circle.

2 stars for the illustrations because the protagonist was too dumb and I didn’t care about her :)

4.6| Absolutely loved it
The art style is so damn amazing. It was pretty intriguing to see how a gothic romance took a disastrous turn and how well the protagonist handled the situation.
