A delightful mix of romance/fantasy
Kenna and Logan are back and this time Mictulant or Malik has found Kenna, not once, but twice. The first time, using the help of Asmodeus, Logan is able to bring Kenna back from a realm in the underworld or hell.
Just when things are about to get better, during Christmas, things change for the worse.
Kenna repeats a pattern which she is destined to repeat all through her past incarnations and Logan loses her again.
The story continues from there, raising the question about whether Logan is able to get her back.
Kenna came across with plenty of sass and an unnecessarily big mouth in front of her captors, which though helped her overcome her nightmares, it also caused her a lot of pain.
Logan as the lover searching for Kenna was also very well depicted.
The surprise was Griffin. The character was something of a surprise and very well written.
The romance between Kenna and Logan was the foundation of the whole story and moved it perfectly well.
Building on the partial fantasy from the first book, the book delves into many questions about the Fates, past incarnation and the many 'beings' inside Logan, which he can access, bringing in plenty of stories about the mythical characters in the story.
Nice interesting read.

An incredible tale
The love story continues between an ethereal being Logan and his mortal soul mate, Kenna. A tragic tale fated to repeat through the centuries. Part science fiction, part angels and demons but pure romance.
The author continues to grow in her craft and has weaved an incredible, compelling story. Switching to first person dual point of view was a distraction at first from the first book but added more depth to the story. I can’t wait for the future installments.

Great Continuation!
Suspended in darkness, Kenna couldn't move, couldn't breathe, Malik had grabbed her. Her nightmare returns.
The epic battle continues with Kenna, Logan and Malik. This is a great sequel, with all the usual violence, rage, betrayal torture and love. As you know all the characters from the first book, the excitement starts immediately and gallops on at a fast pace throughout. A captivating read, where your imagination runs wild as you are pulled into the story and are willing Kenna and Logan their happy ever after. Great read.

Just as good as the first book! Could not put it down, and even in the most shocking parts all I wanted was more! This series is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to read even more.

Breaking Purgatory is the second book in the Scarred by Fate Series by Marcelle Valentine. Once again, we find Kenna put to the test and forced with another difficult decision. Will she go willingly with the dark forces to save the ones she loves? And… when forced to choose between two lives, can Kenna find a way out to save them both? Breaking Purgatory takes you on a wild ride deep down into the depths of purgatory on an adventure of good versus evil. Time after time, Kenna and Logan struggle through intense battles to survive; all the while devoted to each other with undying loyalty and intense passion. Will they sacrifice everything to be together? And in the end, can death keep them apart? Breaking Purgatory is a five-star, page turning, wild ride that will keep you flipping the pages late at night to find out what happens next. Highly recommend.

This is one of those occasions when I regret the 5 star rating system, because it doesn't leave much room for finesse. Compared to Book 1, this shifted the balance of this paranormal romance heavily towards the paranormal side. In my view, that was definitely to its benefit, and made this a solid 9 out of 10.
This book fleshes out much more detail about Logan and his council. We get to see them in action and I enjoyed the worldbuilding to forge connections between other beings - friend and foe - in realms near and far.
Still not sold on Logan's approach to his relationship with Kenna, and the unwillingness in the narrative to offer a different, more critical view on this, continues to bug me. This is mostly what is stopping me from highlighting all 5 stars.
Finally, we get a cliffhanger ending. That's a risk, because I know some people don't like that. Personally, I have no objection, as I love serialised storytelling. As long as it gets resolved early in Book 3, I'll be happy.

Yikes! This ended on such a heart-stopping cliffhanger, but I hope I can guess the outcome! I adored this book. It was full of action and passion, and I couldn’t put it down. I’d definitely suggest reading 𝘙𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴, the first book in the series, before you read this, as you will better understand what’s going on. Highly recommended.

An exhilarating roller coaster of emotions!
This book took me on the most amazing journey. I can’t even explain how mind blowing it is. Such an exceptional piece of work. My emotions were twisted and turned in the absolute best way. Another exquisite chapter in the lives of Kenna and Logan. This series is 100% in my top 3 that I’ve EVER read and I’m anxiously awaiting book 3!

Million stars
This is my genre, this book is well written, and the storyline is also intriguing as it gets more interesting with every season and chapter.
However, I wanted Kenna to die, she's always acting like a child that always ends up in trouble.
She knows Logan protects her, but then she move away from his protection, and get caught by Malik.
He should have killed her.

Another one from this author. It did take me time to read, and I enjoyed it! Very well done. I love the story of Kenna. How the book focuses on Kenna, and other characters. Keeping the story interesting. So much happening all at once. So much happening with a twist of romance. I love this author!

Great second instalment.
This series is something else! A fantastic blend of mythology, romance, demons with a different spin that keeps you turning the pages. Thoroughly enjoyable read with enough twists to keep you turning the pages.

I will die for him!
Yet another novel that leaves me speechless. I seriously can’t wait to read the next one. I can only hope that the end is what I think it is but I will have to wait and see.
This book, just like the first, made me feel all emotions. Kenna is amazingly strong and she will stop at nothing to protect those she loves even if that means giving up her own life.
Logan battles the truth but will always fight for her, even after…
My lips are sealed for the rest. You have to read it.
Highly recommended.

The pages using sex (thinking, having, discussing) were so common to transition threads, they were filler since they clearly number approximately a third of the read. Approximately 50 pages are dedicated to ‘Kenna Pureheart’s ‘selflessness, total that’s half the read.
Deep theological discussions, justifications, tantrums, shocks, and plain old stupidity scenes are on hand to complete the read, these well done pieces didn’t contain enough power to satisfy this reader. Also, the tone was younger than I’d like
That said, overall, this reader wasn’t a fan of the outing. However, the paranormal component lacking in the previous outing was definitely represented here.
