A Missing Rose: Archer’s Corner Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
As a PI I always solve my cases, but being back in my hometown is turning me into a disaster who plows into pink unicorns.

Running down the beloved sculpture wasn’t the only surprising thing about my visit. I didn’t think Perry Kansas was big enough for anyone to go missing. But here I am, looking for a missing person, in a town that hates my guts.

Suddenly, I’m being dragged from my bed, falling into a handsome stranger's big arms, and getting hit with a book concealing a mysterious letter.

Being back home also means a visit to my family's archery shop. My uncle wants me to come back and take it over, but my aim in this case is way off.

The clues are elusive. And the suspect is the unlikeliest candidate I never wanted to catch.

A missing person case brings P.I. Gracie Cozy back to her hometown of Perry, KS. What she doesn’t expect to find is a long buried, shameful secret that could destroy not just the town, but her family as well. Wanting to solve the case and get out of town quickly becomes more complicated as she gets tangled up in a missing jewel case, warned off by the town’s elders, and learning that her beloved uncle is sick. Between helping her friend Leah at the library and giving archery lessons, she doggedly looks for clues. But can she face the tough decisions that returning home has brought her?

A Missing Rose is the introductory novel in the Archer’s Corner series. Grace is an interesting and relatable character, willing to buck tradition and do the right thing regardless of consequences. The story is well written and unfolds at a nice pace. The situation Grace uncovers is based on the tragic and shameful treatment of indigenous people in many places and is handled with sensitivity. The repercussions of Grace’s choice are far reaching and it will be interesting to see how they play out in future books.

First I was super excited to find a book that was set in a small town in Kansas.. not just any town but one I personally knew. I found it nice to read of towns I knew about, even if all of the setting was fictional. I personally felt like the author may have named this town Perry, but it sure reminded me of another Kansas town.
With all of that aside, I found this book so darn entertaining. I read it in one sitting and absolutely have fallen in love with the characters. I found myself so engrossed in the story and was really surprised at the end.

I give this book 4.5 stars

This was a fun little story involving some serious mysteries that have roots deep in the past. I enjoyed the characters and would like to read more of the series.
