She's running from one man...into the arms of another.
Budding artist Emily Moreno is running from a controlling lover. When her brother, a former Navy SEAL, whisks her away to an art colony on a private tropical island owned by the billionaire Wolfe family, she's still looking over her shoulder.
Keanu "Scotty" Scotty is a literal beach bum. He loves cool waves, sand between his toes, refreshing tropical cocktails, and—most of all—bikini-clad sexy ladies. When hot brunette Emily shows up at his bar one afternoon, Scotty is smitten. She's shy and guarded, but he knows how to handle her.
Heat sparks between them, but danger is lurking...and Scotty may not be able to protect Emily.
#1 New York Times, #1 USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Helen Hardt's passion for the written word began with the books her mother read to her at bedtime. She wrote her first story at age six and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to being an award winning author of contemporary and historical romance and erotica, she’s a mother, an attorney, a black belt in Taekwondo, a grammar geek, an appreciator of fine red wine, and a lover of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She writes from her home in Colorado, where she lives with her family.
Helen Hardt has brought the amazing Wolfe world into an even bigger stratosphere!
Escape is an amazing survivor story. It's also a bridge to the new series Gems of Wolfe Island from Wolfes of Manhattan. Emily is an artist and has come to Wolfe Island for healing and to Escape her Controlling Ex boyfriend. She's always keeping a low profile. One night she heads out of the safety of her room and exploring the retreat and all its amenities. She finds herself at one of the beach bars and a striking young bartender catches her eye and sparks fly. Scotty is a carefree roll with life kind of man with a heart of gold. He is awe struck when he sees Emily and has an instant pull to her. He wants to help her and care and protect her instantly. She's not ready yet but he's very persistent. Their chemistry grows and pretty soon its undeniable to both of them that they can't Escape the feelings for each other. The plot twists and danger once again invades Emily's life. Escape will give you a little taste of what's to come in Gems of Wolfe Island Series. It is a fantastic short Novella that brings you more into the Wolfe World.
This "Escape" features Emily, an artist and former tortured victim of an underground drug lord, as well as Scotty, whose creative bartending and hypnotic eyes lead our couple into more than "Sex on the Beach". When the past reappears unexpectedly, an island paradise becomes deadly. If you've read Helen Hardt previously, you expect abundant heated romantic scenes combined with twists and turns in a vivid storyline. Unfortunately this tale wraps far too quickly. While I'm used to a great build up of characters, chasing destiny from one page to another, this one was just over too soon. Invested in Emily's tragic development and her relationship with Scotty, their fates deserved more building. Thanks for all your great writing.
Escaping from her psycho boyfriend, Emily's brother Buck, who is security for the Woife family, got her on the Wolfe Island, where she can practice her painting while enjoying the beach life. Until she wanders into one of the bars located on the beach, and meets Scotty.
In the beginning, Scotty only sar Emily as a "hot tamale," someone to "bed." Then he gets to know her, to care for her, to want to protect her from what ever she was running from.
Helen, really wrote a great little novella here, One I have truly enjoyed reading
Make your past the fuel for your future - Maxime Lagace
Emily Moreno needed to flee from the chains of her toxic boyfriend. Her brother who works for the Wolfe family takes her to their Island so she can decompress and do what she loves, paint. She meets Scott who is a bartender at the bar on the Island. He is a free spirit and when he sees Emily, he is drawn to her timid and shy demeanor.
They are pulled to each other like magnets, but Scotty senses there is more to Emily than meets the eye. This novella packs a punch with intrigue, mystery and suspense. I savored reading every page.
Emily and Scotty’s story first appeared in the anthology Cocktails on the Beach. It was the introduction to the Wolfe family wanting to turn the Island their father used for nefarious reasons, into something positive — a colony for artists, a place where women could recover and rehabilitate. A haven for all women. That’s how Emily ended up there, she was hiding out from an abusive, overbearing ex boyfriend. Scotty & Em fall for each other quickly and when tested, their attraction to one another proves to be more than a fling! I loved the start of this storyline and these characters and can’t wait to see where Helen takes us on Wolfe Island!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Scotty is a bartender for an outside bar on Billionaire Island, owned by the Wolfe siblings. Emily escaped an evil man and her brother brought her here to the island where she paints. There is an Art Center on the island. They meet at the bar. Scott stops his playboy antics when he meets Emily. There’s an instant attraction with a spark. There’s a not so good happening to a wonderful ending. This is a great novella. This book enlightened me to the connection of the book Moonstone.
Emily a the last "victim" of Lucifer Raven's intense possessiveness and alcohol-based insanity. She gets away, hanks to her own bravery and her brother's assistance, to an island where she can practice her art in glorious surroundings. There she meets a bartender that she clicks with, though she tries hard not to get "involved" with anyone, Scott is different. But would her past catch up to her,and ruin the start of what could be a beautiful thing? Read "Escape", which is related to the "Billionaie's Island" books, as a stand alone easy read.
To be a quick read, this was awesome. Adventure, excitement, sex, and nail biting ending made me want more. Going to start reading the wolfes of manhattan series today!
I loved it ….it gave me a small interlude before I read RAVEN when it comes out next week Now I know who Luke is and hoping he doesn’t go back to his old ways Well done Helen Hardt
That was by far one of the dumbest books I have read. The only way it gets more than one star is the author must be paying for it or people are giving her a high ranking based off name alone. Whichever reason it is, she needs more people in her circle not being “yes” people to this foolishness. The story: The leading lady is in trouble from a psycho ex who is trying to get to her location. The ex is abusive and controlling. She said she fell for his charm, claims not to be naive, but has a one day/night love affair with a stranger. Then within 24 hrs of meeting this stranger, if that, they declare their love for each other. There is fast pace romances and there is this ridiculous, unrealistic story line.
The Wolfe siblings have revamped their father’s island into a 3 part artist retreat, treatment center, and soon to open resort/casino. One of the guests is in hiding from a dark and dangerous man from LA, and she is attracted to one of the bartenders, but doesn’t want him to be caught up in her drama. This is their story and it’s a good, quick read..on to the next in the series.

Love the romance mixed with action, heart stopping vibes, with lots of questions that still need answers! Can’t wait for the next ones to see who is still free to come for the girls !!
But will she ever feel safe? Emily and Scotty's love story has passion, violence, secrets and hopefully a happily ever after. This novella is only 99 pages, so it's a very quick, smile worthy read.
