This is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you turning the page. The reader will be taken on a dark and dangerous adventure where mind games are in play. The characters are well developed, and there are shocking twists, turns, and surprises. The main character, Amanda, is surrounded by deceit and terror, and nothing is certain as danger draws ever closer. Fans of thrillers will want to try this compelling and mind-bending read. As a warning, readers should be aware of a rape in the main character’s past.

I received a free copy of this book from Question Mark Press via Zooloo’s Book Tours. My review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.

My first impression of this book is that Jess Roy is an incredible writer! This book kept me absolutely hooked on it, the twists the turns the setting and the characters is perfect for this book!

In the book we meet Dr Amanda Brody , now she has the perfect life , married, the career of her dreams , two wonderful children and a beautiful house... the only problem is Amanda has a secret , one she has hidden so well , if if ever gets out it will destroy her life.... and when she finds a note on her car that says 'I know your secret' she is desperate to find out who it is and stop the secret from being revealed.

This book is very hard to stop reading, I never normally want the main characters to have their secrets revealed but I really didn't like her ! The twists in the book keep the book fast paced , a really brilliantly written book !

I must admit that prior to being invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘I Know Your Secret’, I hadn’t actually come across Jess Roy before. I do like to discover new authors and the synopsis sounded so inviting, so without further ado, I grabbed my Kindle, grabbed a cup of tea and settled down for an interesting afternoon of reading. Overall, I did enjoy reading ‘I Know Your Secret’ but more about that in a bit.
The characters in ‘I Know Your Secret’ were certainly interesting but I can’t say that I particularly liked any of them nor did I warm to them really. I just had a sneaky feeling that they weren’t who they appeared to be if that makes sense? I also got the distinct impression that each character was trying to keep certain things hidden. It could just be that I have read too many crime fiction and I believe nobody and suspect everybody.
It took me a little while to get into this book which has more to do with the fact that I was tired and finding it hard to concentrate than anything else. Once I got into the story that was it and I was away as the saying goes. I had my own theories as to what was going to happen and I had to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down another path entirely. The more of the book that I read, the more intrigued I became and the more of the book I had to read. The pages turned over at a fair old rate and I soon seemed to speed my way through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘I Know Your Secret’. I found ‘I Know Your Secret’ to be a gripping, tense and dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
‘I Know Your Secret’ is extremely well written. The author certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be a compelling read. For me, ‘I Know Your Secret’ was more of a slow burn of a read but as the story gathered momentum so did the level of tension and the story raced to a tense and dramatic conclusion. The story is written using two timelines. One timeline describes events as they happen in the present day and the other timeline is set in the past and describes what led to Amanda keeping a huge secret. This way of telling the tale works, the timelines interlink well and the story flows seamlessly as a result. I felt as though I was part of the story and that’s thanks to Jess’s very realistic and vivid storytelling.
In short, I really enjoyed reading ‘I Know Your Secret’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will be reading more of Jess’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

Dr. Amanda Brody DOES have it all, including someone who is very angry with her for something she may or may not have done.

She gets set up with drugs in her car and thrown in jail, but manages to survive the night.

What an awesome ride! I have to say, there were points where I had to stop reading during some part as the writing was spot on and was so realistic, it made me uncomfortable, even on my second read through. I would love to discuss this book, or give more of a plot summary, but I don’t want to give anything away. I was disappointed with one of her long time female friends and how she reacted to this situation, but it was probably just as realistic as the parts that made me uncomfortable, because who is comfortable with a narcissistic ass?

There were a few errors that I thought would have been picked up during the beta read, but nothing I want to ding this author for.

Having not read any of this author's books before I jumped on the chance to read and review this one (it's my place on the blog tour on the 7th November 2021) and couldn't couldn't stop reading this book. It kept me hooked from the first page to the last. I just had to find out what the secret was and was totally gob-smacked and pleasantly so because I genuinely thought I'd had it all figured out and was very wrong Indeed. A fantastic slight of hand and a truly surprising revelation with an unexpected ending. Anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller will LOVE this.

Because you can’t outrun your past. Hello psychological thriller come at me. How brilliant is this read. If you haven’t already you need to. I loved the layout of this one the way you get the moments that take you back in the past really pop out through the pages. They make you start to put together the twists and the puzzles that are embedded in the pages.

Although there’s a huge issue with trigger warnings, I don’t think those that would be effected by it would pick this book up anyway but just to make you aware. Although I didn’t struggle with the topics personally this is probably because of how amazing the author was with the way the topics were approached and written.

I was taken on this huge journey and thought process on figuring out who played what part in this, what was the secret. I really felt for Amanda as a person the abuse in her relationships the set ups that have landed her in the most difficult situations. I found my self starting to second guess everything. There was a few characters that made me angry to the point I wanted to dive right in and protect Amanda myself from them.

This book goes to show you life isn’t perfect in the family house, perfect kids, perfect husband, perfect career, perfect location. This book will have you hooked from the moment you begin. An incredibly fast paced read.

Wow!! What a brilliant read. The tension started on page 1 and continued to the last page. I woke up at 6am having read until midnight the night before and I thought “Great, I can read some more”.

This thriller is about mental and physical abuse, coercion, gaslighting and rape. None of them easy subjects but Jess Roy turns them into a superb read. The story is written in two parts. The past and Amanda’s terrible ordeal and the present, where, whatever happened in the past is coming back to haunt her.

“I know your secret”, but what is Amanda’s secret? Who knows her secret? How terrible can a secret be? Someone is out to get her and it looks as though they are going to succeed but who is it? Her controlling husband Edward, who she really wants to love but he makes it so difficult? Her best friend Pri? Surely not, she has been so supportive. Her former friend Fiona from her student days with whom she has had no contact since that terrible event? Or is it a total stranger? Honestly, there were so many possibilities. I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong. There is such a twist at the end and I did not see it coming.

This book is so well deserving of 5 stars. I wish I could give it more. Jess Roy gets right inside Amanda’s tormented mind and makes this one of the best psychological thrillers I have read in a long time.

Well WOW! Just wow! Never having read any of Jess Roy’s work before, he was a totally new author to me and I’ve really been missing out! The characters had their moments where they weren’t particularly strong or interesting, and it felt like they were keeping things buried a lot of the time, but over all they were pretty likeable. I felt for Amanda-secrets are hard to keep when they could derail your life BUT the discovery of a note like that would put anyone in to turmoil!

I Know Your Secret is well written, suspense in the right places despite it having time hops, and it just works. It was intriguing and a real page turner! I think over winter break from work I’ll be reading Roy’s previous novels for sure!

I was expecting more from this book, the reviews are so hyped. It's not as dark as I hoped and the secret was quite a let down. I didn't really like any of the characters and the whole thing just didn't gel with me. Also, I felt the end was predictable.

I have rated 3 stars as it still held my interest

3***

The sexual evilness of this story is more than likely happening across the world every single day. The gas lighting of the main character is most certainly horrible but the true utter evilness is only revealed in the last chapters. An unthinkable atrocity perpetrated by a true monster.

I'm surprised by all of the 4 and 5 star ratings for this book. I wavered between 2 and 3, so let's call it a 2.5
Although published in October 2021, this book is not currently available for purchase or download. There is no audio book. In my opinion, this has saved you from wasting hours of your life. (Too harsh?)
I had this on my "To Read" shelf for over a year, and in retrospect I think I got it as an Amazon Prime Free book when it came out. The published book summary of the plot is accurate. What could have been a good psychological thriller just dragged on and on. The twists, turns, and hints just kept coming and movement toward solving the mystery was non existent for too long. I did guess the ending before finishing the book
Tons of typos, mainly spelling and the use of words that don't really exist but also "to" instead of "too" and "that" instead of "than" category of typos. I should have been a proof reader in another life I think.
Author Jess Roy is really Michael Scanlon, whose Finnegan Beck crime thrillers I just loved. I don't know what this was...
