Best-selling novelist Bill Myers weaves a supernatural trilogy that sweeps you from the frontiers of DNA research, through mind-numbing encounters with the paranormal, to the fulfillment of end-time biblical prophecy. Meticulously researched, this is more than a last-days thriller. It is a passionate, convicting, and moving portrait of the character and heart of Christ.
In book one, Blood of Heaven, death-row inmate Michael Coleman serves as the guinea pig in a genetic experiment involving the blood of Christ. The results are astounding. But behind the scenes, a monstrous plot emerges that only Coleman and accomplice Katherine Lyon can stop.
In Threshold, Brandon Martus, troubled possessor of an uncanny gift, becomes the subject of a paranormal research project. But when the experiment goes awry, Brandon and scientist Sarah Weintraub are plunged headlong into a terrifying supernatural conflict . . . and a destiny neither of them could have envisioned.
In Fire of Heaven, Brandon and Sarah, joined in marriage, become living examples of Christ and his church. Accepting their identity as the two witnesses of Revelation, they are purified through fiery trials that show them the incalculable depths of God's love. And as hellish forces make their bid for world dominion, Brandon and Sarah must proclaim that love to an apostate church . . . and judgment on a rebellious planet.
This riveting volume will keep your reading lamp on past midnight. But to say that Bill Myers has given us a gripping, masterfully crafted tale is to tell only half the story. Fire of Heaven Trilogy is a portrait of Christ's burning love, and a message of encouragement--and warning--to his bride, the church.
Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.
Very interesting premise. When I read the second book, I wondered how it related to the first. And even at the start of the third, I was still a little perplexed, but continuing to read, it all became clear. While it is fictional, it certainly brings questions to mind about the end times; how will it all play out? and more. A good read.
This was my summer read for this year. Definitely enjoyed them. I've looked at some other reviews and feel as though I might have underestimated what the author was hoping for. Firstly, I liked the storyline, an epic journey. Secondly, lots of characters from all over the fantasy world. Thirdly, definite links with religion, no problems with that, but I got the impression that the author was open minded about full believer vs total atheist vs sceptic, the other reviewers seem convinced, I remain otherwise.
This is a work of fiction with scripture intertwined. Fire and Heaven was so fast paced that I didn't want to put it down. I did though, I would stop and re-read a section and study the scripture and think, really think about what he was saying.
Even though this a work of fiction there is plenty of meat to chew on. I would love to use this novel as the basis for a bible study. There are so many scriptures I would love to talk about with others.
I usually don't keep novels but this one I did. I plan to read it again and this time study the concepts presented. This is definately a must read.
I can't believe it has been 12 years since I read this. It is a wonderful fictional depiction of how we are to unselfishly love the Lord and how he unconditionally loves us. The two witnesses, Brandon and Sarah, must try and convey this to the world. Very well linked to Revelation it is a great love story!
What a great trilogy. Bill Myers has a way of taking storylines that sound silly or frivolous and making them just plain spectacular. A mix of DNA, end-times extravaganzas, and sincere brotherhood, it's a fantastic trilogy that nicely meshes adventure with sentimentality.
