Me: I’m not in the mood to read crescent city 2 rn it’s too long

Also me: reads a dramoine fic that’s almost 300k words in two days

Ok where to begin,
Overall I enjoyed this fic a lot, despite the length. It was LONG like at times I was like how much more she gonna write?!

I enjoyed the story- the characters were certainly different than other dramoine fics I’ve read- this was much more in the side of the Gloriana set (slow burn fluff) there wasn’t a ton of like banter, angst and tension which I live for so that’s why I’m hesitant to say I loved it on par with some of the others I’ve read, however, it was quality storytelling and I think the author did a great job. The concept itself of everyone getting resorted 8th year was so interesting and everyone fit their new houses so well (Ginny and Harry in Slytherin was the absolute best).

Idk man there’s just something about reading the same two characters fall in love over and over in different ways that just gives me life

✅ Characters
✅ New dynamics
✅ Smut (cute, but tame)
✅ Slow-burn and cute romance
✅ Plot
✅🆗 Pace
❗️❗️Trigger warnings: suicide, abuse of alcohol

Maybe that you're a good person hidden beneath an awful personality."
"You really know how to lay on the compliments," he drawled sarcastically.

After the end of the war, students are given the option to come back to Hogwarts for an eighth year, but with a little twist: to encourage inter-house relationships, the students are to be resorted. Ron ends up in Hufflepuff, Harry and Ginny are sent to Slytherin, and Hermione finds herself with Draco in Ravenclaw.

I really like the concept of resorting students because it allowed the author to create so many new dynamics between the characters, and it also allowed for friendships and relationships based on the characters' personalities, and not on old houses' prejudices (well, except for Slytherin, they still have a hard time to get accepted, even after being resorted).

The plot is complex compared to other Dramione fanfics I've read, and the romance is almost secondary to it. It's all about alchemy and finding a solution for a BIG mistake that happened when Hermione and Draco decided to test out something that they shouldn't have. It was detailed, complex, and intriguing, but at the same time, it felt like the romance dragged on a little bit at times because of the number of details incorporated into the plot. It's not a bad thing at all, but at one point I just wanted to have some fluff and cute moments between them, without all the complexity of their alchemy problem.

"Where have you been all day, Draco?"
He looked up to find his mother descending the elaborate marble staircase that led from the East Wing. Fixing her with a firm look, he answered, "To see Hermione. I had dinner with the Grangers."
Her expression immediately soured. "Why?"
Fearless conviction bubbled up in his chest, which was not something Draco could ever remember feeling before. He felt alive, animated… almost like there was a bright flame inside him, but one that delighted in fanciful rapture rather than the familiar fires of rage. He could have laughed in his mother's face if he dared. "Remember a few years ago when you told me to be fearless in the pursuit of whatever set my soul on fire?"
All traces of color drained from Narcissa's face.
"That," he said simply, stalking past her up the staircase without another word.

The romance is a slow-burn, even though we can feel the attraction between Hermione and Draco from the beginning. I also liked that while of course, Hermione's friends were shocked and not 100% on board when they learned about Draco and her, there was no big shaming and no unnecessary evilization of Ron in this one. Don't get me wrong, I am not really a fan of Ron, and I looooooove the angstier fanfics where there is drama, revenge, and groveling, but it also felt refreshing to have a story where Ron and Hermione didn't really share a romantic past or harbored any romantic feelings for each other.

Also, can we talk about Draco having reading glasses for a minute? How cute and so normally mundane?! It's a tiny detail, but I loved that! And I loved the characterization of Hermione and him. He wants peace and freedom, she wants peace and no more crazy life-threatening adventures, and while they both seem a little uneasy being in Ravenclaw at first, especially Hermione since she's with none of her friends, they find that this is exactly what they both needed.

Overall, this is another great Dramione fanfic, and while I obviously knew from the start where this was going romantically speaking, there is just something to seeing them fall in love over and over again in all the fanfics I've been reading lately that makes me feel great. 🥰

I am so torn right now, 4 or 5?! Damn you goodreads, why couldn't you have made half stars 😓💔😭

4.5 💫✨🌠

First off, the concept for this book... amazing. That's what drew me in. Hermione and Draco get resorted into Ravenclaw??!!? I'M SO THERE.

Second, I spent over 1000 pages with this book, and I really enjoyed it so it kills me to give it less than a 5. But I have to start rating more critically, and not automatically giving everything a 5 in my after-reading haze and then being like wtf 2 weeks later. 😐

This is such a Ravenclaw fic, not just because they got resorted into Ravenclaw, but just the way it's written! (The author is actually a Hufflepuff... but still) The book is more plot heavy and the Dramione romance is secondary (I STILL LOVED IT THOUGH!) And the plot was like 🤌🤌 snaps to the author. It actually focused on alchemy and I actually found it sooo intriguing!

The Dramione was great, not the best I've ever read but it did it's job and exceeded of course. The spice was there as well, but it was romantic and not too detail heavy. I actually didn't mind that, I really liked it anyways.

Hermione was so strong in this because she was portrayed so well! With flaws and all. No Ron-bashing in this fic yayyy!! I actually really liked both Harry (who was all wise and dumblydory 🪄) and Ginny (lingerie queen💃). They BOTH got sorted into Slytherin which I loved.

I love Draco and Hermione, but there was this one cute as hell angsty side character that got me.... Theo Nott 🥺 WHY IS THEO ALWAYS PERFECTION?!?! I literally loved him and I would die for him. When he said that he's destined to be miserable I was like NO 😭 THEO 😭 NO 😭

Anyways, this whole fic was gorgeous, nice writing, clever; but its strength was definitely the plot and concept because that's what did it for me.

Dramione fans, come and get it. But don't go into this expecting smut and spice, if you want that read anything by Ada P Rix. Read this for a combination of cute and angsty romance as well as a formidable plot line and representation 🙌 (loved Padma and Lisa in this, Padma never gets a character in any fic!)

Now, for some closing remarks.

Draco, you are so sexy, but especially in those reading glasses. 😎

Draco Malfoy you sexy as mf🙏🙇‍♀️

“i think the closest thing i've ever felt to religion is when i’m with you."
what a lovely + long 8th year fic! this surprised me. it was so cozy and had such a unique plot, and the writing was spectacular. i didn’t guess where the story was going AT ALL and i loved how everything wrapped up. i adored the magic in this one, as well as all of the side characters — it reminded me what i love about hp.
also, theo nott deserves better! as always!

Could not get into it. Characters aren’t themselves - different from, well, themselves. Their relationships with one another and dialogue felt awkward and their personalities were different - out of character. The writing wasn’t for me, and the slut shaming (Pansy, and degrading for like no reason, hello?) and ‘not like other girls’ depiction of hermione was not it.

I thought the beginning of this fanfiction was going to be one of my favorite, but the last twenty chapters or so just didn't fit/make sense I think.

Nothing went the way I thought it was going to, and not in a pleasant surprise at all.
It was a completely different vibe and feel, with no good transition.

Also, there was just a lot of sexist undertones in a lot of the characters (thought by female characters too) and their sayings, I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it was really off-putting.

Dramione CW: suicides (multiple), slut shaming by other characters of unredeemable Pansy. 8th year fic with a resorting. Theo is a seer. There is no smut til like the last 5 chapters and even that is pretty tame. I loved the alchemy, Rowena s secret study, and the accidental bonding. Unpleasant/unsupportive Narcissa. The writing is good. This author is really great. The story was just not my cup of tea.

This is kind of a harsh review. I thought the idea behind the fic was good and kept me interested, but could've been better executed. This isn't to say this is not a good fic or that I didn't enjoy myself because it is and I did.

enemies-to-lovers / romance / slow burn / post-war / Hogwarts 8th year / soft Draco / not so spicy / traditional views on sex and marriage / pro-level writing

The characters return to Hogwarts for the 8th year. New additions include another sorting ceremony and new school subjects. Hermione and Draco end up in Ravenclaw. Due to various circumstances, the two have to spend a lot of time together, which leads to some sort of relationship developing between the two of them and also to them deciding to do an alchemy experiment together that goes horribly wrong.

***The the following comments may contain spoilers!***

The Eagle's Nest is one of the top stories in the Dramione scene, and I can see why so many people love it.

* The tension between Hermione and Draco and how their relationship develops is captivating and wonderfully written. It's kind of a slow-burn with constant ups and downs. It's a love story between two young adults who are really discovering the topic of love for themselves for the first time in their lives, and therefore have a lot of insecurities along the way.

* The author manages to write a really great "soft Draco", who on the outside still has the typical characteristics of a mean Draco.
"He looked incredulous. "Have you met the Malfoys, sweetheart? By their standards, he's practically singing you ballads."

* Theo is probably the secret star of this story

* The experiment-goes-wrong theme is a brilliant idea, and the connection with the alchemy theme is super interesting.

* The friendships with other Hogwarts characters is really nice to see. Hermione has the opportunity to be a teenage girl for the first time.

* There is some really wonderful language used here.

I'm giving up on this story at page 215.
I probably would've finished this if it wasn't 1.067 pages long but since it is, I don't really care about it enough to keep on going.

The story is too drawn out and I there is nothing really happening in this fic.
We see the characters returning for their last year at Hogwarts and almost all of them were being resorted into other Houses. The story is mostly about the new friendships the characters have to make and how Hermione slowly becomes friendly with the Slytherins, while dealing with the PTSD that came after the war.
There is no action and no plot other than the resorting and Draco being mysterious.

I don't care to read a thousand pages of Hermione navigating her new reality, I don't particularly like her in this fic. I also don't care for the original, magical origin added in this story.
I liked the writing but I didn't like the story or the characters in it other than Draco.

I absolutely devoured this 1000 page book in TWO DAYS. I am unashamed for having the biggest book hangover about Hermione and Draco fanfic. Fight me

So many reviews said that this was too slow of a read and that it took too long to get the story where it needed to be and I could not disagree more. This was a story that took the characters that I love and allowed them to process and heal in their own time without over dramatizing anything or rushing through plot, and while also staying true to the theme and overall storyline.

This Draco and Hermione might be my new favorite just because of how quick they are to love each other but also how slow they are to allow themselves be loved by the other.

I am a Ron hater through and through and even though he was obnoxious and egotistical at times, he wasn’t ✨that✨ bad and in my opinion redeemed himself throughout this story. You will never catch me saying a single nice thing about Ron Weasley ever again.

Very heavy on the alchemy which I loved because you got to see Hermione and Draco be academic swots together but also i had ZERO idea what was going on during those scenes. I was there strictly for the academia vibes.

It's been over a week since I read anything and wanted to get back into reading with Dramione. This fic is really popular so I thought I'd try it. I might have started this before and left it or might have read it once before because it seemed familiar especially the beginning. Maybe that's why I didn't think it was as amazing as everything think it is. Something felt missing.
The plot details with the whole alchemy was really interesting and I'm in awe of the writing. I loved the relationship between Hermione and Draco. How it started, developed, progressed, it was amazing to read. The side characters, the friendships, the conversation were really good. Now I have the difficult task of finding another good HP fic to read.

The whole premise of both Draco and Hermione being sorted in Ravenclaw was really unique and interesting and that's what kept me going because, let me tell you, there were moments when I had throwbacks to my 83632 chemistry classes from last semester. PTSD is what it's called, ladies and gentlemen.

Good concept on the resorting of houses. Most characters are resorted, harry and ginny in Slytherine, Ron in hufflepuff and Hermione in Raveclaw along with Draco. Draco and Hermione true to their Ravenclaw nature is insatiably curious. They found something interesting and decided to make it a new project and it went awry, the research and pursue for the solution brought them closer.
