Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help!

"August Flings" is Book 8 in Eden Larsen's Calendar Romance series, a clean contemporary romance read. I really enjoyed this book, because it teaches us that we all need help sometimes, and that we can't always do everything by ourselves. This is the story of Josephine (Jo), the owner of an all-day restaurant in Seattle, Washington, and Cooper, a pediatric dentist. The story was mostly real, except for the fact that by the end of day one, Cooper kissed Jo. Even if it was love at first sight, that was a little too fast. Of course, that's just my opinion. The characters are wonderful, especially Jasmine, Jo's lead worker at the restaurant. Every day was a National Day for something: National Raspberry Cream Day, National Couples Day, and so on. This book takes place in August, so the main event coming up is on August 24th, which is National Waffle Day. It was the best day of restaurant sales 2 years in a row, but Jo has her worries. Many of her employees are leaving her to work elsewhere, mainly to Jo's rival, Carla, who is poaching Jo's workers, offering higher pay. So, besides Jasmine and her own self, Jo has nobody to trust to be there on National Waffle Day. Jo feels as though she can't ask certain people for help, and that she has to do everything by herself. This book is a lesson in asking for help. An employer needs to be able to trust his/her employees enough to delegate some of the responsibilities. When I was working, I asked a coworker to do me a favor. That person said, 'That's not in my job description.' I told her that if I was her boss, and she said that to me, I would first give her a warning, then next time she wouldn't have a job. Later that same year, my boss had everybody in the office cross-training other jobs. There was even an episode on NCIS, where each of the characters were cross-training. I love Eden Larsen's series, and this book teaches that you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help, and that it is better to delegate your workload, than it is to suffer a mental breakdown. I gave this episode 5 stars.

sweet, fast read

Small town, sweet romance… Josephine and Cooper are definitely a nuanced couple; he’s desire to take care of her isn’t quite the perfect match for a self described “control freak”. But, they really do connect — loved the ending!

This is another sweet read from Eden Larsen.

Josephine is trying to keep her restaurant afloat. Her competitor keeps pinching her staff.

Then she meets Cooper. There is an instant attraction between the two of them, but is it true love or is he just using her?

I loved this story.

Okay read

Josephine is holding on to the reins of her business with an iron fist. It takes a suitor (Cooper) to sweep her off her feet and give her the courage to let go. A decent read but the editing could have been better. Also, the characters were not well-described.
