A well written, action packed from the start through to the end short story that introduces the reader to the Iron Vikings MC series and acquaints them to a different lifestyle and environment. I loved the themes that were going on; tragedy, suspense, revenge, violence, family dysfunctionality, loyalty, romance. Castor certainly packs it all in as well as not just setting the scene but introducing the characters and club history, values, rules, boundaries, behaviour and club politics. The short glossary at the beginning was a nice touch for readers who perhaps do not know how an MC works and an introduction to the names and ranks within the MC.
It had already cost Zeus his fiancé on his wedding day and three club brothers but there was a feeling it was going to cost a lost more before the "saga" ends! I honestly thought it was explosive from the first page, it was extremely well written with excellent knowledge of an MC. I loved how we get to start to know a little bit about the supporting characters as well as the main to (which I am sure the main ones will all get there own story at a later juncture) and the complexity and interwoven internal politics and personal struggles of the club's members which forms and interlinks with the main storyline as well as Castor identifies behaviour, consequences and the rules for that behaviour are harsh and extreme in MC environment.
The story broke the ice, setting a really well thought out and defined scenerio and the elephant in the room! There was a huge problem that needs addressing properly and because it is at the top of the hierarchy it was dangerous, needing to be handled correctly plus then you have the cartel to contend with. Incredibly difficult and complex situation to deal with as it isn't just about justice and getting rid of the root problems and culprits but also drugs, money, power and greed. We also see deep emotions surface; trust, loyalty and betrayal of those meant to be brothers in the same "motorbike family" and also because it involves father and son. I thought Castor really brought all this out plus threw in a love interest for good measure and covered so much in such few pages as it was a prequel not a full novel.
If the next book is as good as this then readers are in for real treat! I received an ARC for free via BookSirens and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
