The nanonetwork has been upgraded. I can still access the nanobots...
But when I do, they kill the host.
Dr. Archimedes Flat is using this to bolster his case that I'm terrorist. Public enemy number one.
The resistance is scattered and on the run.
The only chance I have has is to go after the nanonetwork, itself.
Will I be able to change the code?
If not, more people will die. And I'll be blamed for it.
Nanoswarm is the second book in Theophilus Monroe's Nanoverse, an action packed dystopian sci fi thriller series. As a former soldier, suffering from PTSD, Brian Goff is not only a threat to the new system, but his very injury has given him control over the nanobots. Like Neo, in The Matrix, Goff is an unlikely hero whose "technomagic" makes him the the last hope for human liberty, freedom, and justice.
Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.
We have the future technology. Its science in the future. Can it really do this. Can Brian Goff really help? Will the resistense be able to stop Flat? Will Flat be able to expand his nanoverse? Can Goff stop him from taking over people to his new nanoverse? Can Goff live or will Flat over take him in the nanoverse? Why is he so much different then others? Can he save the people Flat has already take? What will happen to them all?

I thoroughly enjoyed this new book in this sci-fi series by Theophilus Monroe.
Brian Goff, a war veteran suffering from PTSD, is fighting another war, but this time in the form of nanobots. Everyone (or almost) in America now has had these nanobots implemented into their bodies, but little do they know the full consequences of this action. Dr Archimedes Flat, one of the inventors of this supposedly miraculous system, has plans of his own for this new nano-universe or nanoverse that he has created, but unfortunately only one person is capable of getting in his way...none other than Brian Goff himself.
Brian has to do whatever he can to bring Flat down, but it's not an easy task especially when Flat is able to manipulate more than just the nanobots! But he still has to try to prevent Flat from changing everything he believes in!
A great read and great writing. It's another of Theo's worlds that completely suck you in and leave you wanting more!
Thank you to Theo for an ARC copy of this book. This review, however, is my own honest one!
I was absolutely thrilled when book 2 in this series landed! This series has really captured me, in such a way that I find myself often experiencing sheer horror, not with the actual brilliant story, but by the possible "what if"! So many aspects to this story ring true, it was not so long ago that what was perceived as fiction actually became a reality, like smart phones, AI's, etc. This series highlights what could happen and that terrifies me! Ok, well, back to the actual book... totally and utterly phenominal! The characters are realistic, and their diversity a dream read. I loved the in-depth portrayal of each character. The bidding relationships between Brian and Liza is an interesting dimension to the overall storyline. All the characters are so awesome, I can't decide who my favourite could possibly be, from Bonecrusher to Father Ezra,to the precocious, gorgeous Susie, I'm just not sure! The battles were impressive, especially those not in the physical world, quite stunningly described. I'm neither a very technically savvy person, nor do I know much about war, soldiers or PTSD, yet Theo has managed to capture these world's so convincingly, that even I was able to relate and understand the complexities, not an easy feat, way to go Theo! I'm not a big movie or TV person, but boy oh boy, this would be a blockbuster if it were on screen, and I would definitely watch it! I definitely recommend this series!
Well, this is an excellent sequel in Theo’s mind blowing nanoverse series! We follow the resistance team in their continuing fight against Archimedes Flat, but surely it can’t get worse…right?…….wrong! I can’t wait for book 3!

This is book two of the Nanoverse series and sees Dr Archimedes Flat having expanded his illegal work on the Nanoverse, wanting to change it to the world he wants everyone to exist in. He believes it to be the next step in human evolution, but he is now part of the Nanoverse, having left his body behind and now only existing in a nanobots swarm, which he can use to access anyone connected to the nanonetwork. He n conjunction with Dr Larson, created and built the Nanoverse, buy Dr Flat took it much further than Dr Larson or even the President had agreed. He is following his own plan for the world and takes over the body of a young boy, wondering if when he leaves him, if the boy will regain his own consciousness back, or be separated and be part of the Nanoverse with him. He doesn’t much care for what any of the innocents he takes over think about what he does, persuading them that this new life in the Nanoverse is the best kind of life, able to have any sort of life and memories they wish. Only Lieutenant Brian Goff is able to stop him in his tracks. He was injured in an IED explosion and suffered from PTSD, which left the nanobots he was injected with, not connect to the nanonetwork in the same way. He is now with the Resistance, with his daughter Susie, and his fellow soldier Bonecrusher, the other soldier injected with nanobots as an experiment all those years ago. They stay in a lead lined building which allows them to stay free of Dr Flat’s interference with the nanobots everyone now has, apart from the very youngest in society. It seems Dr Flat has plans to attack the new President, to allow him to get access to everyone’s nanobots, all at once, through Presidential authorisations only the President has access to. Even with him being the architect of the Nanoverse, there are some parts even he has no access to. At the moment, he can only take over one person at a time, leaving each completely disconnected from their body and breaking them in a way, that doesn’t allow them to ever get their consciousness back into their bodies again, basically leaving their bodies to die! The new inhibiter that Dr Larson pushed into manufacture to keep people save, is now being used as a weapon by Dr Flat, causing thousands of deaths all over. Goff tries to stop one particular plane crash, but is gutted by the results of his actions and the inability to help the person he took over, to be able to get back into their body. Any time he had done that before, there was never any issue, but it seems the evil doctor has been adding a lot more code to the nanonetwork, making changes for his world vision. The only way Goff and the Resistance can stop him, is for Goff to go into the Nanoverse himself and fight him there. Dr Flat no longer has a body to fight and he could be within anyone they are with, at any point! Only problem is that Dr Flat is numerous steps ahead of everyone else, when it comes to the Nanoverse, and defeating him in this world will be difficult. Dr Larson now knows what Dr Flat is up to and they will all have to work together to help Goff stop his plans. He will have to grow his own army within the Nanoverse, to put a stop to his actions and only people like him or Father Ezra, with particular kinds of wounds, are impervious to Dr Flat’s interactions. Still so much more to come from this Nanoverse that could put the whole world in danger. People will need to realise the true pain of life, or accept the stylised world of their every wish no matter how unreal it really is. Dr Flat’s world does away with pain, emotion and everything that makes us human. Brian Goff was the doctor’s first experiment in to the Nanoverse and he still doesn’t understand where his code went wrong in not being able to control him, but for Goff to actually be able to control the nanobots himself. Goff has to be defeated for Dr Flat to get ultimate world domination of his ideas and wishes, but the members of the Resistance are determined to stop him, no matter what the cost may be. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I received and ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
“Nanoswarm” is the second instalment in Theophilus Monroe’s “Nanoverse” brand-new dystopian/sci-fi series, which very successfully integrates very pressing modern-day issues with futuristic dystopian tropes into a story that is both, highly entertaining and easy to read while being eerie accurate in shining a light into our modern world and some of the dangers we might encounter in our ever-faster-going race for technological prowess. Don’t make any mistakes, this is first and foremost an entertaining tale, which mixes tropes from ‘Minority Report’, ‘Surrogates’ and ‘Matrix” to a 100%-original Theophilus Monroe story. Those already acquainted with Monroe, already have learn to expect the unexpected, and this book is not exception. 😉. Those still new to the author, that rock you have been living under is undoubtedly very cozy 😉, but really do yourself a favour and come under it, pick the books (yes, the books, both “Nanoswarm” and the previous “Algorithm”), and prepare yourself to be amazed.
As always, the unexpected comes hand in hand with high-quality storytelling, perfect crafted-world, deep, interesting, and captivating characters, full entertainment, witty situations, a pinch of irreverence and in this particular case an extra-portion of fun bordering on occasion on the whimsical. Let me give you some prompts to enjoy the book at it fullest – yes, I know you are all already advanced fan, but allow me, nevertheless, because we tend to forget it, don’t we 😊 - you can schedule to read the book at any given time, but… should you schedule an evening lecture take some measures: re-schedule that job/zoom meeting in the morning, should you make it, you will not look your best (some aftereffect of the Nanoverse can be expected 😉). I know, I know, sleep is overrated but all-nighters still left signs… once you begin the book, you will be unable to put it down, is a proven fact… and beware of spontaneous burst of shocked expressions, unexpected expletives, and even some nervous heartly laughs… it could happen… it will…. often… respect your sleepy neighbours (the ones still living under that rock)
I refrain to give you an overview on the story, the aforeprinted blurb should suffice, but just to stress the cliff notes… the nanonetwork has been upgraded, now it is able to transfert the minds of the host into the nanoswarm, rendering the host unconscious, and expanding Dr. Flat’s nanoverse, and contributing to his dystopian social Darwinian social experiment and his futuristic nightmare of a brand-new world, who he calls it ‘human evolution’. Humanity’s only chance for survival is Brian Goff, but to defy Dr. Flat, Goff has to fight him in his own world: the nanoverse. A former soldier, suffering from PTSD against the Creator of the nanoverse: David against Goliath, doesn’t even begin to describe it……
For those of you that are not acquainted with Monroe…. I refrain to ask under which rock have you be living all this time, because that is between you and your rock, but… really? Must have been a real big rock…. 😊 Monroe is a real master when it comes to organically blending modern urban fantasy, eternal tropes, mythology, religious tropes, while easily blurring boundaries between reality and legend and transform them into a veritable smørrebrød of action, yes ‘smørrebrød’ no other word would do, Monroe offers a multitude to choose from and let the decision to you, although…. Usually you will end up, having to have it all 😉
When it comes to Monroe, I have already learnt to always expect the unexpected, puzzling twists, wonderful characters, and mind-blowing descriptions, garnished with a good dose of magic some sprinkles of mythical lore and some paranormal romance on the side, and served with very well-crafted, with an accurate world building, interesting characters, captivating writing style and carefully editing. And still…. he gets me every single time, no matter whatever high my expectations are, Monroe manages to meet them with miles to spare. I can’t hardly wait for the next instalment… really… can’t…. must, but can’t 😉
Nanoswarm is the second book in Theophilus Monroe's Nanoverse world. Nanoswarm is a fast-paced read like its predecessor Algorithm. Like Algorithm, Nanoswarm pulled me in from the first page right into its world. It was quite fun trying to picture it all in my head. You know trying to picture the Nano world where all the nanobots live.
I enjoyed getting to see everything through Dr. Archimedes Flat’s point of view with him being a part of the nanoverse world. The descriptions made it so easy to see each and every scene in my head as it appeared on the page. Oh, man I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what Dr. Archimedes Flat had planned for everyone.
Dr. Archimedes Flat is one of the creators of the nanobots and he has upgraded the nanonetwork. Dr. Archimedes Flat has entered the nanoverse himself taking over the body of a twelve-year-old boy. Dr. Flat wonders if the boy will survive when and if he leaves the boy’s body and enters someone else. Dr. Flat does not care who or how many he will kill to get what he wants. Dr. Flat is out to take over the world and everyone in it.
But I don’t think Brain Goff is a former soldier, suffering from PTSD is going to let him take over not as long as it is in his power to stop Dr. Flat. But the question is can Brain stop him? How can he stop the man who created the nanobots in the first place? Is he even strong enough? Brian will give it everything he has to do so.
WOW! What an amazing world author Theophilus Monroe has created for Nanoverse. This is definitely one for the big screen. Can you just imagine the graphics on this one? I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book Posthuman, the third book in the Nanoverse world.
As with the first book Algorithm in the Nanoverse world I highly recommend Nanoswarm as well. Check out Nanoswarm today for an amazing adventure into the future!
Nanoswarm is the second book in Theophilus Monroe's Nanoverse. This is a new take on ‘Inventing” a cure for PTSD nanobots. A soldier Brian Goff has been treated with the nanobots amd he can control them. He is still able to contact the nano bots but when he does it leaves the host unconscious. Transferring their mind into the nanoswarm. The inventor of the nanoverse considers this the next step in human evolution. Goff plans to fight this take over of the human race. He is just a retired soldier what skills does he have to fight the scientific community? How can he possibly survive? Will he find anyone to helo him? is a unique novel. Nanoswarm kept me spellbound from page one to the very last word! The tension and relationships are beautifully written and will keep readers coming back for more. I got chills up my spine more than once. I can't wait to see what happens next. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the novel.
Brian needs to find Flat and stop him, but how? No body, just an insane mind that has ideas that are dangerous. Through trial and error (not knowing he was doing so), Brian will learn how he can fight Flat and possibly win. The war isn't over, but this is one battle that will need to be fought.
Once again, I loved the next installment of this awesome series from Theophilus. This author has stories floating around in his head and already in print that will accomodate any and every reader. Sci-fi to the highest power. Vampires that also can do magic. Did you want some Mermaids or Druids? Got it! Wanted to know how Cane (THAT Cane) came to be a werewolf and psychiatrist? He has that one too.
Many of his series are intermix, which is a part I love. A little 'hey' from a favorite character of one of the other series. <3
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The nanobots were supposed to help humanity, but their creator has a very different agenda. Our hero is one of the very few that can oppose him, but will it be enough?
This is book two of the series. It actually does pretty well as a standalone, but you will be missing a bit of the backstory. Your call.
This is a science fiction story with a bit of cyberpunk and dystopia thrown in. The story is very well written and fairly easy to read. I say only fairly because there is a lot going on here and it occasionally takes some effort to keep things straight. Both the characters and the setting are well done with plenty of detail that brings things to life. The plot is fast paced and includes plenty of actions as well as twists and turns so there is never a dull moment. Overall, it was a very exciting read and I definitely look forward to seeing the next book.
Highly recommended

I have never read a book by Theophilus Monroe, but I absolutely loved "Nanoswarm" by the author. I couldn't put the book down it was so good. I loved how well the book was written too. It moved between characters very smoothly and made me want to keep reading.
I will now be looking for other books by this author because of how well the writing was. Even though this was the second book, I was able to read it without being lost in the story plot. I enjoy when authors thoroughly explain what is going on in a plot.
I have never been a sci-fi reader, but because of this book I may have to start reading that genre. It was very enjoyable and I could relate to how the characters were feeling.
I definitely rate this book a 5/5 stars because of how well put together it was. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
This is quite the urban fantasy cyberpunk thriller. The twists and turns in the forward motion, the sheer momentum - action thrillers fans will find this book as thrilling as anything by Tom Clancy. What really appeals to me is the way my mind is stretched by the philosophical debate. The author brings a new twist to how to think of PTSD. I had never considered PTSD as a summation of what it means to be human. Father Ezra's talk with Goff seems to suggest that I need to reconsider that point. For that matter, this novel examines what it means to be human in some detail. I wonder if Flat's nanos are in any way related to Aide (of Flint's and Drake's Belesarius series).
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nanoswarm is a fantastic addition to the Nanoverse series, a cleverly written science fiction thriller. The worldbuilding is quite creative with a fascinating and engaging premise. The storyline is fast-paced, exciting, action-packed, exhilarating, and unpredictable; it kept me thoroughly engrossed. The characters are well-developed, intriguing, and totally awesome. My attention was captured from the very start all through the end. The ending was terrific; I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
A stellar performance by Miles Meili; he literally brought the characters and the story to life. All and all, Nanoswarm is a well-written dystopian sci-fi and definitely worth the listen. I'm strongly recommending this audiobook.
They do not care what happen in their aim to gain control of the nanotechnology and if some die, we’ll it is just the way it is going to be. He knows he needs to stop them but he will have to enter the nanotechnology to fight them. He knows it will be very difficult as they know all the rules and the ways to overcome anyone who tries to stop him. Can he stop them? How will he stop them? Will he be able to get any help in it all? See if he can defeat them

Archimedes Flat has entered the mind of a 12-year-old boy named Kevin. Kevin was the first person Archimedesmade contact with after his nanobots left his body. Now Archimedes has worked out a way to get other humans to join him in his nanoverse. Look out Archimedes, Brian, and the rest of the resistance are after you. This 2nd book of the Nanoverse Series has plenty of action to go round plus a budding romance. Cannot wait for Book three. Highly recommended.
I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Stage two (of three, I suspect) in the fight against corrupt American scientists. The inventor of the nanobot "vaccine" uploaded his memories and personality into the "nanoverse" where he continues his agenda … to bring all humans into the swarm. He is opposed by a very small group (the resistance) and the main threat to his goals remains an ex-lieutenant (one of the very first to receive a nanobot injection). Like Jesus, the lieutenant faced temptations in the desert, and like Jesus, he rejected them. The second savior of mankind? We'll have to wait and see.
I can’t tell you how much I love this series but I will try. The world building in this series is phenomenal. The plot is well written and entertaining. The characters are relatable and lovable with back histories that are complex and rewarding. If you are fans of The Matrix world then you will love this series. Theophilus Monroe, you knocked it out of the park with this series!
Thanks so much for an advance review copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review of my personal opinion.
I enjoyed this book very much except for two things first the good fast paced, there was plenty of action, the book was not that long a fun read. The bad the authors political beliefs seem to be coming through in the story. Its main protagonist who was an ex jar head acts like a jar head. I know plenty of Marines were very intelligent, and quick witted. It seems a lot of authors write their marine protagonist as knuckle dragger‘s. I think this is a disservice to the core. Still a fun story easy to read and enjoyable.
I received Nanoswarm by Theophilus Monroe (Book 2 of Nanoverse) through StoryOrigin. In this series Dr. Archimedes Flat is trying to use nanobots to collect minds to forge his idea of a utopia. He believes it's the next step to human evolution. He doesn't care if people die to make it happen. Brian and his allies are determined to stop Flat from taking complete control of human kind. How can they possibly defeat the maker of the nanoverse from within his own creation. I am enjoying this series and recommend. This book is available on Amazon
Am really loving this series!! I’ve been an ARC reader for book 1 and now 2 and hoping to definitely finish the series as an ARC. Love how Theophilus Monroe has Veterans in this series and even though they suffer from PTSD it is what makes them still heroes because they can resist the nanobots because of their trauma. Brian the first to geet Nanovex can actually control them and I can’t wait to see how much stronger he gets fighting with Flat!!! A definite must read!!!!
Nanoswarm: A Dystopian Sci-Fi Technothriller (Nanoverse Book 2), my thirteenth read from author Theophilus Monroe. My first read from author Theophilus Monroe was Algorithm. I’m glad to read the second book in the series. Another well written & enjoyable read/listen. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Miles Meili 's narration adds to the enjoyment of this book. I look forward to my next read from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
The resistance is back and Brian is fighting Flat again. Flat has a plan and so does Brian. It was lots of action, fighting and trying to survive and beat Flat in his own world. Had to see what would happen this time around and what surprises might show up. And see if Brian would be able to survive and win too. Fun and entertaining to read
3.5 Stars for Nanoswarm by Theophilus Monroehe. The world-building in this second book is much better than the first. The plot is well thought out and captivating. The character's back histories are complex and interesting. I did prefer this one to Algorithm, the first book in the series. Once again another interesting book by Theophilus Monroehe!
This is a great story with a new take on things. The characters were interesting, and the narrator did a great job bringing them to life and the world around them. I was amazed and how well the narrator was able to bring me into the world and keep me interested. I received a promo code for this book and this is my honest review.
Mad scientist Archimedes Flat fled to the nanoverse to avoid capture. There, he's manipulating the nano bots in ordinary people so they can join him in his universe where anyone can do anything they want.
Brian and the rest of the resistance are trying to stop him before he kills too many people.
Ok, so book two in the series and by god it’s so good I read it in one go from start to finish. Completely different to their other series but still as good nonetheless. Where can it go from here I wonder, I’ll find out when I get book three. Highly recommended.
Great continuation of the series. I enjoyed the characters and their continued growth. The worldbuilding is wonderful and the book has lots of excitement and action throughout. It is an interesting read that draws you in. Can't wait for more. I received this as an ARC and this is my honest review.
It took me most of a day to get through this philosophical near-future science-fiction tale which I cannot recommend for anyone under fifteen as the metaphysics are just too confusing.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is an immersive adventure into a not do distant future world in its dystopian sense. As always Theophilus Monroe is a great story teller so this book is just excellent.
