Some mistakes are forgivable... Others haunt you for the rest of your life.
Julia Murphy was no stranger to magic. As a descendant of a long standing line of natural born witches, she'd been raised to respect the Old Ways. She'd known the risks, but when the magic tugged at her core like the pied-freaking-piper anyone would think it was an invitation... Right?
Wrong.
She'd trespassed.
And now she was stuck with him.
An Imp was a helluva roadblock when it came to living your every day life, but she'd learned to cope well enough over the years. She'd thought it was done. Transgression acknowledged. Price paid.
She had no idea.
Now powers well outside her wheelhouse rapped at her door – literally - and a darkness lingered on the horizon, threatening her town and her family.
And then there was Thrynn.
What an old god wanted with a simple cottage witch? Not a clue.
But there was that damn tug again.

This is more of a Fantasy Romance than a Fantasy book. That is to say, it is heavy on the romance. So if that is what you are looking to read, this book should fulfill your quest, especially if you like a strong dominant male (i.e. Celtic god) claiming his Fated magical mate.
The romance was a little too much for me and distracted from the action, as did Thrynn, the too overbearing male protagonist. While this was a distraction to me, I know others who enjoy the genre will be well-served. I did enjoy the humor sprinkled throughout. Julia, the female protagonist is very likeable and fun. Gran, the grandmother, and Rude, the imp are downright loveable. There is a lot of chin chucking, face cupping, lip biting, fang dropping, neck nipping..., that became somewhat repetitive, but again, the book is heavy on romance, so.... Also, there is a little explicit sex to go along with the romance. I only mention it because some like it and others don't.
The story is interesting and I did enjoy the writing. There is pretty good suspense as to who is the villain and how (if) he can be defeated. I detest when innocents get killed in fantasy novels and there was one such case. The villain is already shown to be pure evil, so this death was pointless heartache to me.
There is resolution to the story but the ending seemed rather quick, and I would have liked to see a little more in to the future of Thrynn and Julia. What happens when a Celtic god and a mortal, living in two separate worlds, mate? There is also some political intrigue in Thrynn's world and I would have liked the story to have encompassed what happens when the couple returns to his home. I can see weaving that into the story would have been a challenge, however.
Romance lovers are sure to rate it higher.

Awesome story
It's been years since I've read a story this compelling, imaginative, and captivating. I could hardly pit the book down to go to bed. I only see one other book written by this author. I really hope she writes a follow up to this one. I'm looking forward to it. In the meanwhile I'll just have to read her other book.

Good read
A well written fairly unique take in a genre that is getting repetitive. A good tale with the perfect touch of humor!
