Duality #2

Duplicity

Rate this book
Prepare for more action, more magic, and a whole lot more steam in Duplicity, the second book in the Duality Series! Duality is an 18+ fantasy romance reverse harem series. Our snarky heroine must come to terms with her elemental powers or be trampled in the war between good and evil. Can she survive, or will she be torn apart in the process?

⚠SPOILERS AHEAD⚠

Just as our heroine is finding her feet, she’s literally and figuratively swept off them by the Kier—and one in particular.

The Kier are not at all what Jex expected. Tall-Dark-and-Handsy insists Jex’s place is by his side, fighting the villainous fight. She knows better than to fall prey to his honeyed words and tempting offers. Still, our bad guys are planning something, and she’s determined to figure out what. With hazards surrounding her, she has no choice but to adapt and be as fluid as her water elemental ability.

Can she resist the snare Derek sets before her? Even if she does, will the Clara understand?

Find out in Duplicity, the second book in the Duality Series

The Duality Series is an 18+ fantasy romance why-choose/reverse harem series. If you like unique magic systems, sword fights and action sequences, sassy heroines, and bonfire-hot spice, then this book is for you.

NOTE: Duplicity is a continuation of Jex's story and should only be read after you have read Duality. It ends in a cliffhanger. This is book two in a four-book series.

TW: This book contains open-door romance and on-page violence, including death. Not all of the love interests from this point on are men, but Jex's orientation (itself) is not a primary plot point of the series. If anything in the first book made you uncomfortable, or anything in this paragraph, then please do not buy this book. Detailed trope tags can be found on the author's website.

This series is sooo good. The concept is well thought out and it's equally well written. I'm eager to see what happens next, especially after the last chapter.

Holy shit, this book started with a twist. I was confused as hell at first.

Me in Chapter 11: whoa, whoa, whoa 🤯🥵 didn't see that coming.

Ok, aside from the smut. This book is a lot as far as new terms and rules go. It was a little much for my small brain sometimes. Maybe your brain can handle it.

Aside from terms, this book has opposing clans that are working against each other. The FMC is torn between two (and several men) so the internal conflict is great.

And the smut is 🤯🥵

4.5/5 Holy smokes this book!! 🥵🥵

We finally get to meet “tall dark and handsy” in book 2 of this series and he does not disappoint! 😈
He is SUCH an interesting character who played with my emotions. I was mad, then not, then swoon, then hot, then mad, then super hot and more swoon 😅 I really enjoyed his character development and their relationship dynamic. 🙌🏻 I’m hoping things get more figured out and “solved” with them cause I think I love him 😂

Eli… ugh.: my starssss 🥵🥵🥵 and Ryan. Just fab 👏🏻
I loved loved loved the smut in this book… and Pinch! You sneaky little devil 😈😅

The things are turning, more mystery yet to be solved and the ending ! Was NOT what I was expecting and can’t wait for more!

I really enjoyed this! 👏🏻👏🏻

I didn’t think I could love Jex more but book 2 proved me wrong. Her banter and quick wit (even when she’s just thinking to herself) never failed to make me smile or laugh. I always love a main character with sass and she definitely wears her sassy pants all the time. And the spice on this ramped up to another total hotness level. Phew! There were reveals and surprises in this that were hinted at in the first book and yet I still was totally clueless. I loved each one. Can’t wait to read the next book to see what’s to come!

This book was amazing! The growth for Jex! I didn’t think I could love her anymore in this book. I love her snarky banter. But Becaa you almost gave me a heart attack with the ending! But this book was again amazing, the spice was perfect.

I went back and reread Duality before journeying into this book and it is a journey I will take again. This series will likely become an annual read for me. Warning, the end of this book made me want to throw the book and scream NO! Major cliffhanger but worth every minute of reading time. I was given an advanced ARC so I was able to read it early so this is an honest review from a real read.I love how the reverse harem is being built and isn’t just automatic. The relationships are real and complex and the characters are real as well. No all bad and no all good. Good bad guys and bad good guys guys always makes a great read. Becca you kicked this one out of the park!

I received an ARC and can say that I loved this book. I'm going to try and keep spoilers to a minimum and vague. I love Jex just as much as in book one her banter was on point. I loved all of the POVs we got. Be warned this book does end on a major cliffhanger that had me begging for book 3 so I know what happens. The teasing of the FF relationship has me super excited to see if they catch fire (lol) in book 3.

Eli and Ryan came a long way and I loved seeing them working together in all aspects ;). Derek has some major groveling in the ropes I hope. Pinch can pinch Jex all he wants in my book; I hope he continues helping Jex in book 3 however he is able and that he can balance out Eli and Derek because they are going to need it.

Becca's writing is always a fun read but this time I was holding on for dear life as I raced through this book trying to guess and figure out what was coming only to be thrown a major curveball in ch 26 followed immediately by a hurricane sized revelation in ch27 and a massive cliffhanger at the end. I can't wait to see what happens in Discord and am beyond grateful to be part of the ARC team.

I'm really not sure what to say about this one! I really didn't like it until about 80% through. Derek is seriously problematic and I don't think I've disliked a character so much since Tamlin (if you know, you know!). The last 20% saved it and kept me interested enough to read the next one.

HOLY SHITBALLS. The first book in this series was amazing and I didn't think it could get any better but duplicity blows it out of the park. The story was so engaging and kept me hooked, I had so many theories going into this book and I couldn't figure out what was going to happen which just made me want to read more and more. As someone with curly hair the commitment to detail about curly hair care was so great. I'll try not to be spoilery but I absolutely loved seeing her connection with Derek grow (even though I kind of hate him a little), LOVED Nicky and BeBe. With the way the book ended I'm excited to see what adventures the gang is going to get up to next but WHERE IS PINCH?!!!? He needs to join up with them and then everything will be okay. Please just let them make a pit stop for him.

The scenes of Jex with the Kier and the Clara together were ROUGH to get through. I wanted to cry at least once every chapter.

The spice level is off the charts hot. That bathroom scene 🥵🔥🔥 and then the scene with Ry and Eli....sweet baby Jesus 🥵

The last chapter of this will ruin you, then un-ruin you, then ruin you again.
I'm excited to see how Derek is going to fix things in the next book, boy has a lot of work to do to make me like him. Tall-dark-handsy he may be, but we also want nice. Sometimes. I'd settle for him to just not be a dick to Jex.
Honestly if him and Eli could get past their issues I can see the two of them having the biggest bromance ever 😭

Also fuck Frank.

Some memorable quotes from the book:

"Do either of you have protection with you?"  I asked.  "I brought an extra switchblade if you want it."

And my favorite:

"I need you to trust me."  "I trust you as much as the safety cables on a final destination logging truck."

Where do I start with this one. Definitely read the first book before getting into this one you'll miss out on nuances and relationship intracacies if you haven't read Duality first.

Jex continues to be a vibrant feisty loud mouthed and full of sass main character. She's quickly becoming everyone's favorite in one way or another (wink wink, nudge nudge). My one issue with her is her sort of acceptance of everything Derek. I won't go into details but it doesn't really seem like there's much of a fight between her mind and her heart when it comes to the new people in her life.

Derek surprised the crap out of me, I'm not sure why I was surprised based on all of the things we knew about him from the start of the book. But once you start reading his thoughts and his actions it's super clear that things are going to progress in a manner that they do.

I wish there was a little more resolution about her True Pair in this book but I'm going to assume that that is coming down the road. So I can be patient.

The bathroom scene... was everything. And I thought I was shocked enough and then THE FOREST SCENE changed my thoughts. And then the WELCOME HOME... I need a glass of wine, a cold shower and a nap. Just imagine me fanning myself.

Read this. Don't expect something from it that it's not. Prepare to be surprised. Prepare to fall in love with the characters. Becca Fogg out did herself.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"A psychopath and a sociopath walk into a bar..." I can't explain how invested into the characters lives I am. The author has this amazing ability to make me love all the characters for their many flaws but also not be able to trust anyone's motives. I really am so happy to have gotten to read this book. The spunk and attitude that came from Jex in this book surpassed the first book. The first book had me rooting mainly for Eli, and this one had me rooting for everyone. There were some moments that shocked me but if you look back I love all the small little hints and clues that you can find throughout the book. There were some things in the ending that I wanted more from and some things that made me cry, but...."That's the funny thing about Endings, they don't have to be mutually agreed upon" I seriously cannot wait for the 3rd book and to see where the adventure takes this amazing group of characters.

Duplicity continues the excellent storyline that Becca Fogg started with Duality, and let me tell you, things really stem up in this book!

Jex is sassy, powerful and definitely no wilting violet. I love her! Her relationships with her love interests continue to grow and develop throughout the storyline, and I like that these relationships feel real. Not everything is sunshine and roses, and it’s nice to read a story where it’s clear that the main characters realise that relationships require work and sustained effort.

Becca has crafted a smorgasbord of sexy, complex love interests for Jex, and they bring so much richness to the story.

I loved reading this second instalment in the series. The prose felt tighter, the dialogue felt punchy and authentic, and there were some genuinely hilarious moments.

I am hanging out for book 3, and I can’t wait to see how Jex and her harem grow.

To say I devoured this book was the understatement of the century. I have been DYING for this book since the first one. I received a ARC of this book and I loved it.

Jex is taken by hot and handsy Derek. Their banter back and forth is hilarious and the tension is on point. Jex comes up with a plan to spy on them and try to feed info back to Eli and Ryan. She starts developing feelings for Derek and a special female character. That definitely being teased in so I am so excited for book 3.

I am glad I ran across Becca on TikTok and she gave me a ARC of this. Keep doing what you are doing Becca. Your characters in this story or any story you write are amazing. I feel their love and their pain, the struggles of their life. You have a way with words and I plan on reading your books every time you write them!

Duality is the continuation of Jex's story, and it is action packed! In a fight between good and bad, Jex is learning about her powers and hopefully she won't be overrun in the process.

Jex is everything. Her snarky personality speaks to my soul and she is everything I want in a Hermione. Things are slowly falling into place between her and the people in her haven. Ry and Eli have some very steamy scenes with her and I loved every part of her relationship with them. I am trying to like Derek's character, but the struggle is real with him. Im hoping he gets better through the series, but I won't hold my breath. And Pinch! I need more or him ASAP.

There is a hint of a FF relationship and I am dying to get book three and see what happens there! All in all the book is fantastic, despite that horrible cliffhanger, and I am excited to see what happens in book three!

The first part in the series set the bar incredibly high for Duplicity, and it did not disappoint. Once more the book is well-written, engaging and I simply devoured it. There were moments where it felt rushed and I would have hoped for a bit more space for the story to breathe, but overall it flowed great. The spice level went up from part 1, but didn't get too overwhelming.

I did feel like some decisions by the main character could have used more explaining, I was left frowning a couple of times and wishing to get a better glimpse inside her head. While to me Duality remains the stronger of the two, Duplicity was still a great read and I will be purchasing a physical copy of it in the future, as it deserves a spot on display in my shelf.

*check trigger warnings*
**level 4 spice**

Buckle in because this book is a roller coaster!
Duplicity is a fantasy romance reverse harem. Like the first book, this one also jumps between different points of views but it’s done extremely well that it doesn’t interrupt the flow of the story and I think actually makes it that much better.
I’m so happy I read this during Pride Month because it helped me feel seen. I had to take a moment to cry and just sit in my emotions. Representation matters.
This book has it all. I cried, I laughed, I screamed, I yelled. All the emotions? I felt every single one. The spice was *chefs kisses* and I can’t recommend the series enough.

I am still loving this series, although I would like a smidge more world-building versus smut. Right now, the series is probably 30% smut, 70% plot. We randomly get vampires and a mention of werewolves...

The relationship is currently FMMMM with a hint of a future extra F!

What to expect:

🌶 Primal kink
🌶 Double 🍆
🌶 Consensual non-consent
🌶 One of the Ms has a previous relationship with the other F and it does seem like the new F will also sleep with some of the other guys. I know some folks have a problem with that, but I'm into it 😂
🌶 Why choose NOT reverse harem

Two sides of the coin- good versus evil, yet what happens when not all are good and not all are evil?Jex has been kidnapped by the man who swears he is her true pair leaving behind her lover and the other man who claims to be the other half of her soul. More is revealed, more secrets swim to the surface and Jex does her best to follow her heart. This is a very solid second book in the series. I mean, who really wants to choose?

If I thought the first book put me through the ringer! I had no idea what an absolute rollercoaster this book was going to put me on. I held on for dear life the entire time. Jex continues her witty banter, I still wanna bang Derek in a dirty bathroom but, now I want a bunch more people to watch. The small teases of the FF relationship in the book added just the right amount of flame and I can't wait to see them light on fire...maybe literally.

Simple Perfection.

I didn't know how I would function if it wasn't for already owning book 3. Becca Fogg managed to write a book 2 that's better than book 1. I'm still trying to pick my jaw off the ground. how did your brain come up with this? my unofficial emotional support dog got triggered from all my emotions at the end, you had me hooked from page one though. I hate that I started this yesterday after work and had to sleep in-between otherwise it would have been a single sit-down read. 25⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

This is a great series! Becca has done a good job building a unique magic system and keeping us guessing. This book Jex learns more about her own powers as well as others. Lots of sass and snark. Many great one-liners. Can’t wait to see where Jex and her growing harem go from here….Hopefully I won’t feel the constant need to slap her upside the head in the next book! HAHA

Brilliant

This series is so good, so spicy, and the suspense is out of this world. I love Jex; I love that she isn’t perfect and she makes mistakes. I love that she knows she’s making a mistake sometimes and she does it anyways. She’s relatable in a lot of ways. The spice is up a level or two from book one. I’m excited to see where things go next!

Fire baby!

Jex is one of those characters you love to hate. Just bratty enough for you to sigh at her antics, but witty and intelligent enough to keep the book progressing. The Duality series is a reverse harem story with an actual plot! The sexy moments are Blush-worthy without stealing the show.
I am excited to read book 3!

ARGH! Becca has done it again. So many ups and downs, VERY deliciously spicy, and new twists to be had. This book was even better than the first and has me begging more! Characters you just want to murder, ones you end up loving when you weren't expecting, new friends, and DRAMA! CANNOT WAIT for what's to come next.

Wow that was super intense. Really dense and believable emotions and enough action to never make it too stale or too character driven without plot development. Now I'm really excited for book 3
