This volume describes the theoretical frameworks for coaching and meta-coaching, a higher level to a client's performance, states, attitudes, and beliefs. It explores the foundations of a coaching psychology that is preeminently cognitive-behavioral in nature and one founded on the principles of the human potential movement. Sections cover: - The models and processes of Meta-Coaching - The first and only non-therapy based Change Model in the field of Coaching -the Axes of Change model - How to enhance your skills as a developmental and transformation change agent - The power of benchmarking coaching skills to take one's skills to the next level of expertise - The transformative influence of meta-questions - Five models that establish Coaching as cognitive-behavioral based profession
Remarkable book for three reasons. Essentially this 2005 book has something new to say about NLP and human nature. Which is exciting.
There's three models presented here:
1. The Meta-States Model 2. The Matrix Model 3. The Axes of Change Model.
As memes the Meta-States Model gives a way to reflect skilfully, the Matrix provides a funnel for meaning making and remaking, and the Axes of Change provides a superb troubleshooting mechanism for helping make change stick.
If you work helping people change their minds these questions and mental structures have helpful distinctions to make.
It IS a workbook. I'd recommend taking only the most useful and operationalizing it into your experience. There's a lot of potential meaning here and a lot of words, but it's best to bite off only what one can chew.
