(from the back cover) In "A Tough Row to Hoe" I have woven together memories of life on a family farm during the Great Depression and World War II. I am sure members of my generation have similar stories to tell. I hope this book will inspire my contemporaries to document or communicate their personal legacies for future generations to enjoy.
This was such an interesting look at the life of one man growing up in a small Wisconsin community. It felt like a grandpa sitting us down for story time at Thanksgiving. He glossed over some things in his life that I would have loved to know more about, but touched on so many things that have changed over the years. A short, interesting, and very personal read that I recommend.
