A captivating sequel
Not Right Now picks up where Time to Wake leaves off and keeps the plot moving at a delightful pace. All of the old characters are back, and it was fun seeing them develop throughout the story. Benny remains my favorite, although Vincent is a close second. Will definitely be continuing the series as soon as there's more to read.

I previously reviewed the first book in the series, Time to Wake, and was impressed with the fact that a book could have supernatural humans that aren't something I've seen a thousand times before. Sen and others in her circle are Nephilim, meaning that she's an extreme empath and has the ability to control the emotions and energy of those around her.
The first book found Sen and her eternal love interest Hunter getting closer to each other and Not Right Now continues with their relationship growing much deeper. However, Sen is unable to control her powers around him and they've yet to figure out a way to have sex that doesn't involve her completely draining his life force. It's a problem but it also creates some fantastic tension between the characters.
Sen is also slowly regaining the memories of her past lives with Hunter. She receives pieces of them in nightmares and is trying to fit the puzzle together. All she knows for sure is that her past with Hunter and Jonah was more complicated than she ever could have imagined, and it's catching up to her.
We follow the story as the core friend group attempts to bring Benny, Sen's brother who is now a ghost like entity, back to life through a very dangerous ritual. There is plenty of drama and action along the way. The powers and magic in this novel actually have consequences. It's so refreshing to see powers with rules and errors, magic is extremely boring when it can do anything and everything.
Not Right Now is not the kind of book that I typically pick up for myself. I'm not usually inclined to read fantasy or supernatural stories. But I met the author through my best friend and she, my bestie whom I trust very much, insisted that I start the series. Full disclosure here that I do personally know the author but I maintain my promise to be unbiased. I have also decided to rate and review this book through the eyes of its target audience.
This series has proven to break my prejudice against supernatural stories. If nothing else, it's just a damned entertaining read. The stakes are high enough to create a sense of danger but personal enough to feel invested in. These kinds of stories all too often veer into world ending territory, I try not to comprehend destruction on a scale that large. A more intimate conflict is much easier to get into. And more rewarding when it's concluded.
The characters in Not Right Now have built their bonds stronger than the first book and it's delightful to see friendships go through the ebb and flow of disagreements and reunions. Plus I always have to give points to female friendships that involve no fighting over boys or not so subtle emotional warfare.
This series delivers. It's an absolute page turner that will certainly keep you busy for a weekend. I'm excited to read the third installment when it comes out.

Great book 2! Author K. Thomas has done an awesome job continuing this series. It seems every book releases more info about Sen and her past. Does she love Hunter or Jonah? What really happened to Benny? Excited to read more from this author and hoping there’s a book 3.

Amazing
After reading Time to Wake & being blown away, I’m not at all surprised to discover Not Right Now is even better. The sarcastic wit is ever so present & the character development is just wonderful to read - such a great dynamic! The plot is really well written, keeping me hooked from the very beginning to the very end, so much so I read the entire book in one go. There’s so much more to Senlis’s story than I could’ve possibly imagined. I loved it. I can’t wait for more!

As a huge fan of Time to Wake, I was super excited to read the sequel. I'm surprised to say I enjoyed Not Right Now even more than its predecessor! It picks up right where we left off and I was thrilled that all my favorite characters were back. Benny, in particular, is such fun and had me giggling at some points!
I also greatly enjoyed how Sen's memories slowly started coming back to her in the form of nightmares. It was entertaining and riveting to learn more and more about her past with Hunter and Jonas.
Can't wait for book 3!

This is a really great series, and I enjoyed this one even more than the first book. The author left me with more questions than answers so I am excitedly waiting for the next one!

The first book took a while to build for me, but by the time the plot really got going I was emotionally engaged with the characters and unravelling the mystery.
I tend to find second books in a series often fail to grab me as much. Although this first sequel is slower paced and less edge of seat than the first book, it is no less exciting. It is simply a much more thoughtful affair. And that's its core strength - focusing on world building and character development, rather than trying to emulate the excitement of the first.
I particularly loved how it handled the consequences of characters using their powers in their grief rather than focusing on how their skills give them an advantage.
This is very character driven sequel, and a solid and enjoyable follow up.

A must read!
I’ve been eagerly waiting to read this one. Not Right Now is the sequel to Time To Wake, a book I adored. The sequel did not let me down.
Lovely to jump straight back in with the characters, plus the introduction of a couple of new ones! I am in love with the blooming relationship between Hunter and Senlis and there are some beautifully written scenes. There’s a lot of Benny is this book too, and everybody I know who has read either book LOVES Benny!
I’ve also learned what a London Fog Latte is - who knew?! Not the UK apparently 😂

Not Right Now is the sequel to K Thomas’ brilliant debut, Time to Wake. The story picks right up where the first one left us slack jawed, and it gets to the meat of the adventure of Senlis, Hunter, Benney et al. very quickly. And let me tell you, while the first book was amazing, this one is better.
First, the pacing is perfect. The mystery of Senlis’ past is unraveled bit by tantalizing bit while in the present she and her friends face a familiar danger. Yet, the author weaves it all into the slice of pie normalcy that allows us to fall even more in love with her quirky, sarcastic, banter-loving cast. And fans of the snappy dialogue and witty internal thoughts will not be disappointed by those details in this book. In fact, I’d say Thomas out did herself. There are laugh-out-loud beats, and the change in tone and word choice always match the period of time the characters are in (or from in one person’s case).
There’s fantasy, there’s romance (hello there, next-level spice!), there’s friendship, murder, and mystery. This book has it all, and it’s extremely hard to put down. It normally takes me weeks to finish a book, but this one was only a few days (and that’s just because real life forced me to put it down). If you enjoy urban fantasy, sarcastic humor, soulmates, and unique characters, pick up this book. You won’t regret it.

Not Right Now is the continuation of the book Time to Wake, a saga written by K. Thomas where the audience meets Senlis, the heroine of the story. In this book, Senlis will struggle between her heart and her brain. She will have more information yet keep searching in her past to understand her present and her relationships in this lifetime. I loved this book, I found Senlis to be such a breath of fresh air; a female that tries to keep it all together while saving her loved ones and trying to know herself better. This is such a big issue nowadays with women in general that to me it was pretty easy to relate to her. The story overall is very interesting and the characters are good.
I am very happy I came across this saga, it has a little bit of fantasy but a very believable world that took me of guard and now I am completely in love with it. Highly recommended!

K. Thomas' Not Right Now is a follow-up to the first novel in the Time to Wake series. I use the term follow-up purposefully, as Thomas leaves us with a massive cliff hanger in the first book. Luckily, chapter one of Not Right Now picks up with Hunter, Jonah, and Senlis right where we left them and jumps back into the plot just as quickly and seamlessly as Thomas accomplished in book one.
You definitely need to read the first book to understand this one, but both are easy reads. They are gripping, equip eloquent dialogue, and are written in a way that allows love to build up for Senlis, Hunter, and Benny. Also, as much as I like the book, I’m much happier with where Not Right Now ends, with a hint of more but not a pressing need.

I was so impressed with the first part of this plot that I immediately bought the second one as soon as it got launched and I have to admit it did reach up to my expectations. Author J.K. Thomas has written the characters of the book with so many details that all the interactions and monologs seem real. The protagonist, Senlis's character, grows exponentially in the second part and the whole chase sequence to bring another character, Benny, back to life has been written in an excellent manner.
The whole blend of romance and murder comes up so well that I remained hooked to the book till the end. The book is a full package of thrill, suspense, and romance. It is a must one for those who enjoy reading quality fiction.

Okay, so this was amazing. I don't want to plot-spoil since this is book two, so I'm going to try to stay vague. The character dynamics in this book were totally ramped up from the first book. It's like Krys hooked them all up to amplifiers and then dosed them liberally with caffeine--except, I mean that in a good way and that there was tons of emotion and tension. Look, I words good, okay? The flashback/memories that Sen has were great. I loved those glimpses where I had to guess what sort of historical timeframe I might be looking at. Will was a joy. Benny remains an absolute favorite.
I NEED BOOK THREE. I have so many questions and I want so much more page-time with these characters that have become close friends to me.

‘Not Right Now (Time to Wake Book 2)’ by K. Thomas is an excellent book and the second installment of the Time to Wake series. I was pulled in from the beginning and read this in no time. This book follows Senlis, Hunter, and Benny whose characters develop even further throughout the chapters. Senlis, the main female lead, has to confront her past to learn more about herself. It has both touches of a fantasy and real world that is well thought through. It is an entertaining, exciting, and witty read. I’m happy that I came across this series and this author. It’s well done, and I would recommend it to others!

This second installment in the series is very good. Not Right Now is a book that hooked me from the very beginning. The author has a great ability to create the scenes and places where we have never been before and make us feel we already know them.
Character portrayal is something to highlight in this book. I really liked how they were shown and how they interact, too. I believe this book is a must read. I have enjoyed it immensely from beginning to end! Time to Wake and Not Right Now are books that I really recommend reading.

Time to Wake (Book 1) was always going to be a hard act to follow so it is perhaps understandable that I started reading "Not Right Now" with a certain degree of trepidation. I needn't have worried. The story once again grabs your attention right from the outset and doesn't let go for the entire book. I finally surfaced from those pages 5 hours later. It's an absolute roller coaster of a ride executed with wonderful flare (and no small amount of humour) This book without a doubt cements her place in that small exclusive pantheon of authors whose work I will read again and again and again.

After reading K. Thomas' first book in the series, Time to Wake, I couldn't wait to read Not Right Now. I loved both books so much! If you read the first book, you will know where the title came from for this book. I loved seeing the story continue with the wonderful group of characters... of course, Benny, is one of my absolute favorites and seeing his story continue to develop (along with the other characters) was fantastic. I can not wait for the third book in the series! HIGHLY recommend!

I’m… I had to DNF this one. I couldn’t keep going with Sen and her constant emotional terrorism. One second she’s angry and distrusting and uncomfortable with Hunter, making him walk on eggshells when the guy, for absolutely no discernable reason considering how MEAN she is to him for a book and half, just wants to kiss her and take care of her. the next she’s losing her virginity to him with little to no foreplay, man I just couldn’t get behind this one. Also, the implications of Ryder being ancient regardless of his sixteen year old body?? Uncomfy!

An Enthralling Page-turner
I had high hopes for the sequel and the author did not disappoint. Senlis’ tale is beautifully woven between her past and present, keeping you vested all the way to the end. The well earned romances, thrilling twists and the author’s gifted writing style make this book (and series) a must-read for fans of paranormal romance. I eagerly anticipate more from this author.

This second book in the series is very good. I felt trapped as soon as I started reading it. Author Thomas has a writing style that is inviting and that makes you read non-stop.
Although it is a middle length book I read it very quickly and I am eager to know if there’s going to be one more installment in the series. The plot is very well developed and I think there’s no loose thread; I enjoyed the story a lot. Character portrayal is another good point to mention. I would recommend reading it!

Not Right Now is the much anticipated sequel to Time To Wake. I loved Book 1 and Book 2 is even better! Thomas gives us more of the beautiful relationship between Hunter and Senlis, and best of all, more Benny! Thomas is a rockstar storyteller. This book was compelling, thrilling, had brilliant plot twists, and at times, was quite funny. The banter between the friend is the best. I’m a huge fan of this author and I highly recommended her amazing books!

This was a superb follow-up to Time to Wake! It included all the things I enjoyed about the first book (unique lore, snarky and witty dialogue, Benny) and expanded on them, making it even better. I loved learning more about the Nephilim and about Senlis’s past and her current situation and oh boy am I intrigued to see what happens next!

After devouring Time to Wake, I wanted to take the time to savor Not Right Now. Senlis' story continues in a truly thrilling and captivating way. K Thomas has created another masterpiece with this novel! I admire the way that the author weaves the story and slowly allows the reader to "wake up" alongside Senlis. The effect is pretty amazing. I absolutely love these characters and this story!

Packed with action and adventure, with a sprinkling of magic, romance and a generous dash of paranormal, this book combines all my favourite elements in a gripping and enjoyable way that not only has me wanting to read the first book, but waiting for the next in the series,

I completed both books in this series in 4 days. I am in love with everything about it! The characters sneak their way into your heart and the story is so enthralling. Now, I don't know how I'm going to be able to sit patiently and wait for the next one.

This book feels, to me, like "The Order" on Netflix. It's kind of messy and trashy, like a soap opera you can't stop watching.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series. The heart of the characters has me ready for the next entry. Well paced and written.
The only negative (?) if you can call it that is that the narrator changed from audiobook one to two. That is always jarring when binge listening.

This one was a little better. It still had moments when it just kind of crashed together. Like she expected us to know things that we had no way of knowing. However, in for penny and for a pound, I'm going to look for the other books when they come out.
