Rowan faces his last week of five years in China. He must navigate the choices now in front of him and face the demons that drove him from Ireland. Should he stay in this bustling, polluted, exotic land or return to the fresh damp Emerald Isle. We follow his countdown to his flight date as he grapples with what he has learned about China and its society and tries to come to terms with turning his back his slacker lifestyle, beautiful food and women, his best friend, and the city he has grown to love. Somewhere amongst the week of food, beer, sex and cigarettes he must make the decision that will determine the direction of the rest of his life.
Romance, comedy, drama, adventure and social commentary on modern China and the western world, this short sharp novel has it all.
Yep very good. Funny and sexy in places and very interesting stuff in here on Chinese society and living abroad in general. Hard book to categorize but very different from anything else I've read lately.
