Planet of Kings #3

Brutal Capture

Rate this book
The Hunter King captures his Omega…

They call him the Hunter King. No one knows his real name.

He’s big and handsome, powerful and brutal.

And he’s just captured me.

Let me back up. I’m on an alien planet. I don’t know how I got here or who I am. I don’t remember anything but my name. Haley.

I’m the only human among many females who are part of the annual Moonlight Hunt. The warriors are the hunters. We are the prey.

It doesn’t take long for the Hunter King to catch me… and when he does, he carries me off to his secret lair. He says the same word over and over:

Omega.

I don’t know what that means. But I do understand when he growls the rest:

Mine.

Mine.

Mine.

I really am loving this series.

I love how all of the kings are so different.

I really liked this one. I loved how primal and in tune with the animals and plants the Hunter king was. I also love when there's a language barrier. I feel like Hunter/Torren was possibly autistic. He barely could speak and got upset and overwhelmed easily by crowds. My heart broke for Hunter when he struggled with how to communicate to reassure and tell Haley how he felt about her. He was so sweet and gentle yet with an intensity that was sexy as hell.

Haley was so supportive. Through their bond she could feel Hunter's feelings and intentions. She helps speak for him to the people and advisors which brings him such relief. Haley and Hunter fit together so well, like two puzzle pieces. They filled the voids in each other and met each other's needs wonderfully. Let's not forget their physical chemistry, which was scorching hot with off the chart steam. Hunter and Haley both were willing to fight the seemingly unbeatable boogeyman to protect each other and get their HEA.

I can't wait for the next one in the series.

Yes! Yes! And Yes!

Just what I needed to restore my faith in these authors and this series..

I LOVE The Hunter King a.k.a Torren 🥰🥰🥰.. And Haley, his Omega, was a breath of fresh air. The only Omega thus far who not only accepted her lot, but embraced and yearned for it. She didn't fight her feelings at all. Like I said, refreshing 💜

Look, just read it. And start at the beginning with book 1.

Book 1 is my absolute fave one thus far in this series. 🤩🥵🥵🥵😇
Book 2 left much to be desired IMO. 🥺🤐🥱

This book, 3, has set my soul to right again.🥵😍🥰😍😇

So I will be returning for book 4😊

And I really hope that Brokk gets a story. I'd be very happy with a Novella for him at least😉

I would recommend this series.

"This is an Omega. She is in my forest, on this night. The Hunt of the Moons. It is a sign. She is destined to be mine. I am the Hunter King...and she is my prey."

This is the third book in the Planet of Kings series and follows Haley and the Hunter King. We are back in the world of Alpha kings and their quest for Omegas. Haley is dropped into an alien forest with no recollection of how she got there. She doesn't remember much of her life but is somehow thrown into a hunt where Alphas chase and pleasure Betas. The chase used to be with Omegas but they have since disappeared. She is scared, confused and awed by the world around her. However, Haley has a secret. She is a human Omega and when the Hunter King catches her scent and stumbles upon her he claims her as his.

The Hunter King has lived a hard life and never wanted to be a king but the title was thrust upon him so he becomes what the kingdom needs much to his own unhappiness. When Haley stumbles into his life, everything changes and the hole in his soul is filled. But he is an Alpha of few words and most consider him to be a barbarian and a wild soul. No one truly knows the man beyond his grunts and few one or two word answers to everything. He keeps the kingdom safe and that is what matters to his people. The Hunter King never had anyone to share himself with but Haley has given him the opportunity and he does not intend on wasting the precious gift.

Haley is dismayed that while her and the Hunter King have bonded...they know very little of each other and neither is able to connect well through words. Add to that the growing discord in the neighboring kingdom and the threat it poses, will the Hunter King be able to keep his little omega that has changed his world? Will Haley be happy in this new life?

This was SO steamy and I loved it. Such a deliciously hot Omegaverse. There was a pretty good story behind the romance that added an element of action and suspense. My only complaint about this story was that I felt like there was a missed opportunity to really create a solid relationship between Haley and her Hunter. I think I needed some telepathic action or something. Thank goodness we get his point of view; otherwise, his character would have fallen quite flat and I would not have felt their romantic connection. The ending was a little abrupt and I really wanted more from the two of them because I was really enjoying their story and their growth as a couple. Overall, if you like lighter Omegaverse with a heavy dose of steam and an intriguing world then I definitely suggest this book. I look forward to the next story in the series!

This one has a lot of heat but I did find Hunter to be blank at times. He is a wild one. Origins and parentage unknown which leads to his lack of communication. I mean almost no words at all. We my go pages and pages before he speaks. There is inner monologue but his lack of talking to Haley, who desperately needs someone to talk to, bothers me.

Another sexed up read

Happy reading,

Brutal Capture is book 3 in the Planet of Kings series. I really enjoyed this book and yes, the hunt reminded me a lot of the Golden Dynasty, but not as in-dept. Haley wakes up in the forest and is told the Hunt is about to begin and she needs to run. The Hunter King is on the Hunt when he catches the most delicious scent. When he finally catches Haley all he can think about is that she is his. The relationship development in this book was definitely sweeter than the previous two. "Hunter" has never had anything for himself and feels he's been blessed with this precious gift. I am really enjoying this series and can't wait to read book 4.

A very beautiful 😍😍😍and hot story🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵. I was impressed by Torren, his behaviour to the wild and the way he treated his Omega. Was proud of Haley when she killed the Stone King.
I also loved the scenes where Torren rode the Slythin, very brave and badass😍😍😍😍.
I enjoyed reading it very much.

Brutal Capture has a very different type of hero in that he’s almost feral. This Hunter King is truly a creature of the forest, barely civilized, who communicates in monosyllables. But what he can do, as an alpha king, is sense omegas. So when the human Haley finds herself in the middle of a mock omega hunt, she has no idea she’s a true omega—and that Hunter is ready to make her his queen.

Haley is a nicely rounded character—she’s confused, thrust into this world with no idea about what’s going on around her, and I loved that she was both accommodating and yet also incredibly frustrated at times. The reader gets to know Hunter through his inner monologues, and it did seem a bit facile that both Haley and Brokk, Hunter’s right-hand alpha, understood him so easily. (Brokk is a great character, and he gets a marvelous arc at the end of this book as well.) And seeing Hunter struggle as a king felt genuine to his character.

I wished that a bit more time was spent connecting some of the plot elements, though. The antagonist appears relatively late in the book, and I would have appreciated a few more portents about his plans earlier in Brutal Capture, especially when his connection to Haley is revealed. Some other characters in Hunter’s kingdom seemed to fall by the wayside a bit at the end—I needed more direct closure based on their actions against Hunter and Haley. There’s a lot of backstory crammed into the last quarter of this book, and I wanted to wallow in that more.

But this is a different type of entry from previous books in Black and Savino’s Planet of Kings series. I am loving how distinct each of the kings has been, and I’m excited to see what direction we go in with the next king!

Amnesiacs

This is a semi love story of two people from different worlds who have partial amnesia. He does not remember his name, nor where he came from. The Hunter King was an orphan who grew up in the forest. He was spurned by the same people who years later would make him a king, out of gratitude for saving their kingdom. He has a kind heart and feels out of place in his role as king.
Haley is kidnapped from earth and drugged to become an omega, but the side effect of the drug is that she remembers only bits and pieces of earth. She struggled just to remember her name.
The romance seems one sided. He finally feels like he has someone he belongs with, but his struggle to communicate verbally hinders the potential relationship. Hayley spends most of the book trying to figure not just her role and the environment she is thrust into, but also Hunter(as she calls him). She is often frustrated by his lack of verbal communication.
There is some action and a surprise new character. Unfortunately, we are left wondering about this character. Perhaps this was intentional for a possible fifth book.

This book was a wonderful and very welcome addition to this fun series. I found The Hunter King and Haley easy to like and become invested in. This is the third entry in this series, but it reads perfectly as a standalone read. I personally recommend reading all the books in this series and in order because 1. They are all just great reads and 2. Characters and events are referenced/reappear and there is a bit of an overarching story playing out. However, that doesn't stop you from getting a HEA each of these couples, so feel free to choose whichever option is right for you. I really like how each book has its own vibe. I think that adds a nice breath of freshness to each entry. The chemistry and heat sizzle and things between this duo get very steamy. The story captured my attention and kept me invested with an enticing combination of drama, action, heart, poignancy, heat, danger and humor. I loved it and am already anxiously awaiting book four! This is my independent, impartial review.

Grumpy Alphas and their sweet mates are a thing for me so that makes this book a thing! I love it when Lee Savino and Tabitha Black get together and write. The 3rd book in this series is great and each story is really good. I enjoyed the tension and steamy scenes between Torren and Haley. You can tell they belong together. Good story that kept me turning the pages and eager for the next book.

YEAH, the Stone King got his just desserts! 1 Omega 0 Creep. The Hunter King, aka Torren, had a rough life growing up, and in the way of things, it made him strong, but even the strongest needs someone to trust and Haley is the perfect Hoo-man for the job. This was a great read, as all Lee Savino and Tabitha Blacks' books are, and I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

Quiet Alpha

This one was a little different, what with the Alpha being quiet and reserved, although his inner thought process was very revealing.
Haley is his perfect match.
The imagery and contrasts between the kingdoms are fascinating.

Compared to the second book this one was amazing. 😄 Honestly I don't remember too much about either book one and two other than what I wrote in my reviews. I do remember book one being decent and book two being absolutely awful.

So, yes I was surprised this one didn't follow the same sucky vein as book two.

The hero The Hunter King aka Hunter (as the heroine dubs him) was actually pretty awesome. I was super intrigued by his character and his past. His upbringing was no picnic, that's for damn sure. It was interesting that he was nearly nonverbal. He would grunt and say one or two words but he never actually spoke full sentences. This was a side effect of growing up in the forest more or less.

But what was a massive disappointment for me was how lazy the author was with this plot point. Yes, he's nearly nonverbal and struggles with the language (whatever their common tongue is) and the ability to put together what he wants to say. So, because of this he doesn't even try. Like, at all. Oh, he told us (repeatedly) in his thoughts just how badly he wish to give the heroine the words or answers she wished for but he knew he would likely embarrass himself or get the words wrong and so therefore never tries. Ugh.

This for me was just plan frustrating. Why does he tell us this multiple times if we're not to get any sort of closure on his difficulties? 80% of the book this is a wash-rinse-repeat scenario.

One particular issues stood out to me when toward the ends of the book the hero brings up once again how one of his powers is his ability to speak to others in their mind. This far we only knew this ability was used to speak to the forest plants and animals and such. So, much to my shock he says this as if this was common knowledge because he chose to speak to Brokk (his second-in-command) mind to give him a instructions.

W H A T? All this time and he hadn't bothered to use that nifty power to speak to his goddamn mate??? Where is the logic!

Sigh. Anyway...

The heroine Haley was just plain meh for me. There was a lot of disconnect for me between her accepting being a new omega on an alien planet with no memories so damn easily. I didn't understand it. Second was her oh so forgiving nature regarding the hero's inability to speak to her. As frustrated as she was she was also too accepting of it too. She didn't try and draw him out or help him with his words, nada. Her personality wasn't special. Yes, she was likeable enough but her thoughts were a bit scattered and her need for ridiculous nicknames wasn't funny at all.

As a couple they were cute together at times. I liked some of their scenes together. I especially loved how much Hunter cared for her and the way he thought about her. That was sweet.

Was it great? Nah. None have been for me. It WAS entertaining-ish and different. So, it's definitely worth reading atleast once.

Overall I was left with more frustration and disappointment than enjoyment though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rushed Book

This book felt like a rushed job. There were parts we had wait for the entire book all I they did was glance over it and never explained how pivotal parts in the story happened. In addition, I captured some inconsistencies within their own story. And very little character development.

A wonderful sexy read, filled with action and wonderful characters thoroughly enjoyable

Her Lysia flower as he calls her Haley was the most wonderful find a gift from Ulf which he had found on the night of Hunt of The Moon which is the night that the Alpha’s are able to hunt the
Beta’s and when they have capture her, they are then able to mate with them.

He is known as the Hunter King of the Forest Kingdom of Arboron and he is known as the Ulfarri which means” The Brutal One” and even though he is the saviour of the Kingdom because he does not speak, they treat him as though he is a neanderthal but he is so special and as Haley spends more time with him, she come to understand him, her mate, her king.

Haley has no idea how she arrived in the new world of Arboron, she has no idea who her mate is and yet she knows that this man would do anything to keep her safe, since he has taken her and she has brought about his memories and he is even remembering his given name before he was an orphan. to keep her safe.

As the slythin begin to attack his kingdom and seem focused on trying to kill his Omega and now there is a mob who seem to expect their king to take everything on by himself and his second is command Brokk is the only man he trusts, standing by him on all occasions and advising as and when he needs assistance.

Haley calls him Hunter as he does not have a given name the only thing that he is called by his people behind his back is the Feral one, the Stone Kind proclaims that the Omega is his and demands her return or else he will release the slythin army on his lands.

Haley is not at all happy about the Stone Kings claim and he gives them one day to give her up or else there will be an end to the Forest Kingdom, she believes that there will be an end to their mating and without Hunter she knows that she will not survive without him.

This is a truly wonderful read and as she begins to understand his story and learns of how he grew up and why he has such an affinity to the forest and the plants, she is so scared and she needs him to explain what is happening and he knows that he has to do better.

Holy crap on a cracker, I absolutely love this series! 'Brutal Capture' is the third book in Lee Savino and Tabitha Black's "Planet of Kings" series and they keep getting better and better. Haley finds herself on her hands and knees in the middle of what looks like a forest and trying to figure out if this is a dream or if she's had too much to drink at a party when a woman comes running up on her exclaiming the Alphas were coming and they needed to hide. Hide? Hide from what or who? Was she in the middle of a Renfaire? And why did this woman's skin look green and the plants look orange? And to top it off, why couldn't she remember anything except that her name was Hailey? The Forest King participated in the annual Moonlight Hunt each year. Traditionally, that's when the Alphas all chase down the Omegas and claim one for themselves but sadly there are no more Omegas and the Alphas are now chasing Beta volunteers to keep the tradition alive and slake their lust. His mind knew there were no Omegas but his senses were telling him otherwise and he intended to find her and when he does, he has no intention of letting her go. This one is all heart, bond, lust, and love. It was good to get brief catchup with Kim and an update on Emma. I'm hoping we get Brokk's story next. I can’t wait.

4.5 stars. Haley, the female human lead, wakes up in a forest with no idea how she got there. When a strange, clearly non-human female tells her to run, she follows instructions, not wanting to be caught but when the Hunter King, the male Alpha alien lead, catches her, she shocked to find how easily he arouses her. The Hunter King doesn’t seem to have a lot of language but he’s very clear about what he wants and what he’s offering.

But the male who brought her to the planet is looking for her and he’s quite determined to have her back, regardless of what Haley or the Hunter wants…

The story is dual POV, well written, and an interesting, erotic omegaverse romance. I enjoyed watching Haley discover the world she found herself in and appreciated how the authors wove the world building in. I enjoyed the Hunter King’s discovery of how much he wanted her and how he facilitated the things Haley wanted/needed. I appreciated the contrast of him compared to the previous story’s lead. I enjoyed the erotic intimate interactions and the way those built the relationship. I enjoyed the continuation of the overarching plot and that it was incorporated in a manner that allowed for new readers to easily join in. I enjoyed two secondary characters, Brokk and Diala, and am hoping for a story for them in future.

Haley doesn’t know where she is or even how she got there. Things are strange. She’s lucky to remember her name. She is being chased and doesn’t understand why. The Hunter King has lost the interest in these betas. They help but when he scents an omega, he must race to find her and make her his. He will fight anyone that gets in his way. The people of his kingdom however are fools. When danger comes to their border they think foolishly. It is a bit heartbreaking. The Hunter King speaks so little. He can’t seem to express emotion. Haley wants to understand what is going on but is so torn. There are times when you want Haley to stop whining too. To have a mate that expresses himself with this eyes and body can be a bit difficult but it seemed she didn’t try to be more open. We only “hear” what The Hunter King is thinking. I wanted to shake him at times and say “at least draw it out.” It takes a lot of strength of mind to finally realize that you don’t always need words. I am glad we got to read a little about Kim again. She is such fun. We do find out the Hunter King’s name which I won’t say. I am looking forward to finding out what will happen with Brokk and Diala. You know there is a story there along with the Brutal King.

Wonderful.
Bonus! ⭐️ This book comes with a short story for Kim and Aurus. (Heroine and hero of book 2)

Another fantastic addition to the series!
Highly recommended to those who likes omegaverse with a twist!
Bonus: growly possessive alphas! 😍

Steamy smex scenes 🌶🌶 knotting, heats, ruts.
(They just can keep their hands off each other!)

Fated mates trope ❤️
(No other woman/man. Insta-lust/attraction.)

Our hero has a rough childhood that left him semi-speech impaired. He speaks more with his actions and grunts. 👀
He wishes he can speak to his beloved Queen (our heroine) but he just can’t find the right words.

This was also what caused the mild self induced angst by the heroine.
Their soul-bond helps since they can feel each other emotions.

At first our heroine(Haley) was bothered by the lack of verbal communication from the hero but at the end she sees past that.

“I don't need you to talk, or explain to me. Your actions and our bond tell me who you are.”

Screen time of the hero and heroine of the last book!

+1 to my list of re-reads and favorites!
Cant wait for the next book!

I Can Completely Relate to Haley!!

Haley wakes up not quite knowing where she is, in a see-through shift, and another person insisting she must run. What?!?

She has been entered into the Hunt of the Moons, an Arborii tradition. Oh, and turned into an omega. So some big, strong Alpha is coming for her.

This planet no longer has omegas, so the hunt makes due with Betas. The Hunter King is not really engaged this year; until he detects a true omega, Haley. The Hunter King cannot speak well, he is most comfortable in the forest.

Not able to give a name himself; Haley provides Grunty McGreenface, Gruntypants and more. She sees how he cares for his people, and has a big heart. Planetary rivalries, and dangers, rule the day.

This series continues to be unique in its entirety and each quadrant of the planet where each story takes place. Sensual and action-packed, with bits of humor make for a great combination.

FINALLY!!!

I fought through book 1 with Emma, felt hopeful with book 2 with Kim but book 3 with Haley was worth it!!

It started out horrible!! Almost 8 or 9 chapters of a drug induced omega human being raped by a voiceless alpha🫤 his vocabulary was that of the Hulk but his thoughts was definitely Bruce Banner.

Though this book had a cringe worthy start and enduring the brutal sexual assaults that yet another serum saturated human woman couldn’t get enough of….by the middle an actual storyline managed bloomed!! Haley showed herself to have an actual likable personality but her complicit nature unfortunately did her character development no favors.

All and all book 3 showed promise on the authors growth and I feel confident that rest of the books will keep on improving. I am glad I stick it out…..I also hope the authors stop taking the sloppy lazy route and give quality stories with developed characters and fantastic adventures.

I am now actually looking forward to book 4, 5, & 6 in this series. Well done ladies!!!!

Mine! Mine! Mine!

Brutal Capture is book 3 in the Planet of Kings series and this is my favorite so far! Each book in the series can be read as a standalone and have their own HEA but I recommend reading the series from the beginning since characters and events follow from book to book.

Brutal Capture started out with so much excitement and you will immediately fall in love with Haley a human woman who finds herself alone in the middle of the woods with no memory of how she got there… and then she is in a race for her life!

The Hunter King is a very complex character and I loved getting to know him, his story and his kingdom. I enjoyed the relationship that developed between these two characters.

There was a fantastic storyline, some secrets revealed, new questions proposed, fascinating side characters, lots of steam, danger, adventure and an HEA. Brutal Capture felt more complex than the first two books and I loved every minute of it! I am diving right into the next book in the series Brutal Beast!

I loved the previous books so it is gonna take something for me to say I think this is my favorite so far. A king who really isn’t happy being a king, and human woman lost in the forest not knowing how she got there or anything else about her past. The one thing that does come to mind is her name Haley. What else could possibly happen? If so that may be being captured by a king. He is the hunter king, understands everything but speaks very little. Haley and everyone else doesn’t know if he can’t speak completely, but he does get his messages across. He can speak words when it calls for it. Haley understands him, and has come to understand that she is his mate. Believe it or not she’s not unhappy about it, and she’s ready for a future with him. An evil unlike anything she has seen has declared that she is his. The demon king, and he wants her. Can the Hunter King and his men loyal to him save her after she is captured? I think he is my favorite king so far. Such a good ending.

Awe! I LOVED this story about the Hunter King and Haley the ‘Hoo-man’. It was definitely my favorite so far but Hunter was so different from the previous Alpha Kings that it would be hard not to have a soft spot for him. His story is reminiscent of Tarzan and it’s a bit sad. He really does not want to be king and just wants to live free among the forest. I was super happy at the ending when Haley finally seems to see and understand and accept him as he is. While he has difficulties speaking, she offers to speak for him since she knows what is in his heart.

My only complaint about this story is that it wasn’t longer because I really wanted a bit more of this sweet couple. I really hoped for a bonus story or a bit more at the end. Hunter was nervous that Haley did not want to be with him but once she cleared that up, the book ended immediately so I would have loved to get a bit more of Hunter’s happiness of finally being accepted.
