It takes a killer to catch a killer.

Logan Wolf was the Behavioral Analysis Unit's most-respected profiler. Then a serial killer murdered his wife and tore his life apart. Now he's a vigilante fugitive, hiding from the FBI while he hunts the nation's deadliest criminals.

When a college student and her boyfriend vanish in West Texas, Wolf suspects the Devil's Rock killer. But the FBI hasn't captured the murderer, and after a decade of terror, the trail is turning cold.

Posing as the missing girl's uncle, Wolf investigates the tiny town of Dusk Corners, the last place anyone saw the students alive. But the local sheriff doesn't trust Wolf, and it's just a matter of time before he learns Wolf's true identity.

To solve the mystery, Wolf must dodge the FBI and power-hungry sheriff. But a killer deadlier than any he's encountered lies in wait.

In Dusk Corners, danger lurks in every shadow.

Dan Padavona writes novels faster than I can read them, in most cases. In reading "Dusk Corners," I think I had him beat. This was a 2 day read for me. Enter Dusk Corners one day and don't leave until the next. This is a pure "edge of your seat" thrill ride. It really take a lot for me to become taken in by most any story and to keep me interested to the end follows that. But if you're hard to entertain you won't be in Dusk Corners. This is an easy to follow, no holds barred mystery thriller that won't give up in the middle or leave you guessing what you just read at the end. It WILL keep you holding your breath for the second book to follow..which I can guarantee you won't want to hesitate to grab. Happy Reading..

Edge of your seat👍

This is the first book I've read from this author but definitely not the last, I can't wait to read more abou Logan and Scarlett, it's a bit gruesome but it's about serial killers so it's to be expected, I would definitely recommend.

Loved this one! Logan Wolf was one of the best Behavioral Units profiler for the FBI. When he finds his wife dead, by a serial killer, he goes rogue hunting the worst serial killers out there.

Now a college student and his girlfriend on the way to a music festival, when they vanish. Knowing that the serial killer, Devil's Rock, is out there in this region, Logan goes on the hunt to find out if the serial killer as indeed struck again.

When Logan arrives in Dusk Corners, the town that the couple was last seen alive in, he rents and room for a week and goes on the hunt!

A thrilling novel that will find you turning the pages to see if he can avoid being captured by the FBI, and also catching the serial killer!

This book was just “alright” for me. Starting off, it gave me Stephen King vibes, but after a few chapters that feeling was gone.

It seemed like not much happened in this book; no real big events, just the main characters searching for each other the whole time and just missing each other.

Honestly, I thought there was going to be a plot twist that the sheriff was in on it with the killers. Which is why they hadn’t been caught in nine years. That would’ve made it a bit better, for me.

This book was just ok. I most likely won’t continue on with the series. 3 stars.

Dusk Corners, book one of the Logan and Scarlett series, is one incredible thriller. Former profiler with the BAU, Logan Wolf has now become a fugitive. His new life is filled with the hunting and killing of serial killers. In becoming a vigilante, he himself has turned into the one thing he hates the most. He is now on the trail of another killer, one that will take all he has to find and destroy. Wolf will also need the help of Scarlett Bell, the newest star with the FBI’s BAU, and one of the few people he trusts to help solve this case. Death and danger lurk close at hand in this fantastic story. From the well-penned characters to the unstoppable storyline, Padavona has given us an incredible, compelling thriller. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Dusk Corners - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

When a young Texas student and her boyfriend go missing in tiny Dusk Corners, vigilante and rogue FBI profiler Logan Wolf goes undercover, to find out what dark secret is being covered up by the over-ambitious local sheriff.
Is there a link to the serial-killer who slew Logan's family, (and framed him) a decade before?

Scarlett Bell, who replaced Logan at the BAU understands his inner turmoil and supports him in his quest for justice - in his alter-ego as judge, jury and executioner.
Can the duo crack the case and put a stop to an evil reign of terror?
Only getting yourself a copy of Dan Padavona's Dusk Corners will give you all the answers. Get it today!

This is a new series. One FBI BAU agent, that had a cameo in the Wolf Lake series, has a role in Dusk Corners. This is going to be a good series. We are following our “serial killer killer”. Logan Wolf has been broken by the killing of his wife. Now he hunts serial killers. He is no longer with the FBI. But he has friends. But the FBI and law enforcement are looking for him everywhere. He’s Number One on the Most Wanted List! It’s a good story and cannot wait for the next installment. Will Wolf get over his illness? Will he ever get peace? Can he keep under law enforcement radar? Can’t wait to see!

dan padavona never lets me down, i swear!

i was in my biggest reading slump to date from the first three throne of glass books (they’re not all that great 🥴) and several mediocre audiobooks. all i want to do is read and read and read this series. i really enjoyed reading from wolf’s perspective, but still have characters i know and love make appearances.

my biggest complaint is the weird relationship wolf had with the girl that’s like 10 years younger than him. it felt really forced and awkward, and didn’t really fit into wolf’s character as we knew him prior. i understand it was such a major plot point, but still felt weird to me.

❗️Research age demographics, CWs, and TWs for these books prior to reading to determine whether or not they're appropriate for you.

Good mystery book to read if you have a few hours. I'm a big fan of Dan Pavona's writing so even though this wasn't the most action packed story I still think you should give it a try.

Happy Reading 📚 😊

A sad, Relentless hero who has had too many negative twist of fate in
his life for any one person to stay on their feet.
This hero has only his mind and a few close friends to keep him this
side of sane.
His role in life is just but it seems to be on the perceived wrong
side of normal justice.

Tight, creative and compelling story and characters.
A must read for the suspense seeker.

When I found out the author was going to give us more Scarlett and Logan, I was excited. After reading this first book in the new series... I'm blown away. I love the dynamic between the two characters, and the secondary characters in this first book are wonderful, too. You feel like you're in a dusty tornado-magnet Texas town, and the action and dialogue are superb, as usual. Can't wait for the next book!

Great story! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of the was the main character’s voice, as previous posters stated. Based on key phrases I can tell it was written that way on purpose and not the fault of the narrator. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I just pictured his voice to be more gruff (rode hard if that makes sense) instead of someone who should be judging wine tasting. Other than that I liked it and would be interested in reading the next one!

you have to become a killer to catch killers…

Former FBI profiler, Logan Wolf, was once on the fast track to lead the BAU. Now he is on the FBI’s Wanted list. Wolf spends his time tracking serial killers and delivering his justice. This time he is hunting a killer who targets women traveling through a small Texas town. Along the way, Wolf befriends a young woman who reminds him of his dead wife…woe to those killers who abduct her.
Good start to this new series.

It’s just okay. No wow factors which was slightly disappointing. It’s a bit wonky the way the plot plays out. I had a couple eye rolls thinking, no way she’s doing this or his approach makes no sense. There’s a bit of repetition, “visions of Renee” or “The Skinner” that don’t feel seamless to the storylines. I feel like this should be a knock out series. The pieces are definitely there and this is just a first in a series. I’ll give the next book a whirl to find out.

What a thrill ride.

This one will grab you from the beginning and won’t let go until the end. Logan Wolf is a very well developed and complex character. Having read the entire Scarlett series of books I was thrilled to discover this new series featuring both Wolf and Bell. Filled with tension and suspense, this is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Highly recommended.

Amazingly intense

No matter what series Dan Padavona writes about the same feeling is there. That feeling, that reaction is an intense need to read as fast as your mind allows. The need to hold your breath on the edge of your seat and yell at the main characters to 'look behind you'. What a great storyteller! You'll never be disappointed.

Lots of action and intrigue !

I really enjoyed this book. Can't wait to read the next Logan Wolf story. The action and suspense along with the vivid descriptions make this book a real page Turner. You can see that Dan has an excellent insight into criminal profiling that brings the believability up several notches. Highly recommend to all.

So sad; a vigilante with a hopeless mission

Antihero of sorts with a devastating past and an uncertain future, allied uneasily with FBI agents with whom he crossed paths after he suffered a shattering loss. Not sure if I cam handle the character’s dark, depressing arc.

We shall see.

I am a huge fan of Dan Padavona, I have read all his books, this wad just as good, love the way he carries at least one character from each series. Logan is list and trying to right so many wrongs, by eliminating serial killers, just like the one who killed his beloved Renee.Scsrlett,an FBI agent works with him. Can't wait for book 2

I typically don’t read novels because I’m not very imaginative, but this book made it easy for me! The details of the characters and the places made this book extremely easy to follow and the story itself was engaging from start to finish. Each person had character to them, including the antagonist. Definitely going to be reading more books by this author.

Enjoyable

I generally read and listen at the same time so I did both with this book. I wish I had saved my money on the recorded version. The narrator is certainly a good reader, she didn't the make mistakes that many do, I don't understand why she gave the male lead the voice and timbre of a ninety year old woman.
It was a distraction to an otherwise enjoyable read.

Logan has become the killer who goes after the killers who haven’t been brought to justice. Former BAU man, he now works with those who secretly assist him to stop the unstoppable. A real thriller with well developed characters that the reader can look forward to seeing in future episodes.

Overall...

...it's certainly good, even if not perfect. Among the flaws is the full book's worth (or more) of backstory crammed into the first few pages -- definitely makes you feel like you've walked in in the middle of the movie.

I read this on the recommendations of 2 Author's I follow. L.T.Vargas and Tim McBain. Talk about who's crazier the killers or the FBI/serial killer. If you are looking for a what the hell. This is it.
