For Three Seconds

Rate this book

I fell in love with Gavin Dunn when I was twelve. All it took was one game of spin the bottle and I was ruined.

One kiss, and three seconds, and no matter how many boys I kissed, they didn’t make me feel like he did.

The problem? He belonged to my best friend.

I kissed him first. She kissed him last.

He once chose me, and I chose her.

When everything in my life goes wrong, somehow he’s always there to make it right. And as my best friend pulls away, he finds ways to get closer. I know that we are just waiting for three seconds before everything changes again.

DNF 85% (read some more and down ranking it even further because I absolutely didn’t believe in this couples love).

Goods= angsty and emotional

Spoilers below

Rest;
When I read reviews I need safety info first, so let me say first that, yes, he does sleep with both girls. And during their 3yr separation, he was a mega manwhore and she remained celibate. Yes, another sexist author!🤮

-story told in annoying flashbacks.
-Book is mindlessly repetitive, the fact that the H is the bff’s boyfriend is mentioned every 10pages.
The number 3 is mentioned with random events. I found it all very corny. Ie: they kissed for 3 secs, on three occasions, his football jersey number is 3..

Plot is about 2 girls - bff - but more like 2 backstabbing bitches - in love with the same boy.
MCs are in love, but the h rejects him because backstabber 1 admits to being in love with manwhore first.

The H is no better.
He says he gave the h three tries (see that number 3 again🙄), before moving on to the ow/bff.
He prefers the h, and yet he’s with the bff and has sex with both, and always puts the ow first.
I bet you’re wondering why he was with the bff? He said he only felt “blind lust” for the ow/bff.
He also got the ow, the bff pregnant, but she lost the baby, when she founds out about them cheating.
So this lust must’ve been mighty big, since he was with the ow for years, and he was having sex without a condom.
Also, he and the bff indirectly caused the death of the h’s parents.
How can there be a HEA with a story like this?
What a hot mess.

The h is literally the worst character in the book.
One of the weakest, whiniest and one of the biggest doormat martyr that ever lived in a ya romanceland.
She’s what we would call a “fake ass bitch.”

Pretends to be such a good girl, but betrays just as much 😂.
The H has sex with the h for the first time prom night, and finally takes the h’s virginity.
The h regrets what happens and leaves him in the morning.
He just lets her go.🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

There are reviews defending her disappearance.
Yes, the h lost her parents a year or 2 before, yes, she has emotional issues, but she was always spineless and wishy washy.
Losing her parents didn’t turn her into a complete loser, she already was one.

She couldn’t deal with her guilt of sleeping with her bff’s bf, so instead of staying there to deal with what had happened, she ran.
Then when the H told her brother that she might’ve tried to drunk kill herself the night before, the brother sent her to the looney bin.

Then H goes on his manwhoring ways. (So he thinks the h is suicidal, and he’s ok to just go on with his life? Not even worried that she would, kill herself again?)

“She gave me her body, and then she turned her back on me. I needed to get my head in the game, so I let her go.”

Does this sound like true love to you?😂
I gotta also mention that, the morning after the MCs cheat with each other, the bff finds out, and the H chose to go after the bff, instead of the h. .

And that morning the bff showed up at the h’s house, in her prom dress with mascara running down her face in tears, because she found out that her bff/h and the H cheated on her. Later we find out that he had actually broken up with her a week before, so not really cheating but girl coed says, the h did break it.
And the ow here was preg with the H’s baby.

I looked up and I could see it all over her face. She knew. “Out of all the guys in school, why did you have to have him?” She let out a sob. I started to cry. “I’m sorry.” There wasn’t anything I could say at this moment that would make it better. “We got into an argument yesterday, and you slept with him! You whore.”

😂😂😂

At 80%, he again chooses to go after the ow, pick the Ow, instead of remaining with the h, and this happens on their first date.
He left her stranded at the movies (because he was worried about the ow’s mental health)… this completely felt like emotional cheating to me.
He was concerned for the ow, what about the h’s health?
Doesn’t matter how many times he says he loved the h, or how he chooses her, always been her, when his actions says other wise.
That’s why this is a terrible love story, what a joke.

I liked the angsty bits, but I hate heroines like this (weak doormats who acts innocent), so I probably would’ve hated this book no matter what.
There are reviews saying they wanted to throat punch her lol.

If this spineless girl had not betrayed her backstabbing friend, as frustrating as I found her character, I wouldve at least respected her.
If she had stood by her man, picked him, instead of the bff, instead of being so wishy washy the whole book, I would’ve at least respected her.
But she s just as bad as her bff.😂
honestly even worse.

Skip it.

I gave my body to Gavin Dunn, wishing like hell it could have been my heart.

I say this every time, but this is my favourite book from C. Lymari yet. Scarlett and Gavin, two people who had such a strong, magnetic pull to one another, but could never be. Their story was soooo full of angst! I felt pretty much every emotion it's possible to feel when I read this. My heart broke for them both, and all I wanted was for things to finally work out, so they could be together.

The story aside, let's talk about Gavin. Every one of C. Lymari's stories has a sexy, swoony man, and Gav was no exception. A hotttt, cocky asshole, who has a caring heart underneath that exterior 🔥🔥🔥 Then we have Scarlett. I loved her, the depth of character, and the pain she went through had me rooting for her, wanting her to face her demons and come through the other side stronger and wiser.
And then. We have. Gigi. Let's just say, I have my homemade shank prepared. 🤬

I loved this book SO much. Do yourself a favour and READ IT!

My first 5 Star☆☆☆☆☆ reading of 2020!!

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

description

"It was supposed to be you, he whispered."

This sport romance was a heart wrenching and angst. The story focused more in Scarlett's POV, but Gavin's POV was brief and concise. Scarlett had my heart broke. At an early age she lost her parents and was cared for by her older brother, Nate. The loss she suffered kept her dragging the guilt and plunged into loneliness and bleakness. Her best friend, Gigi gave her support, but something happened between them and the friendship ended. Sometimes, not everything is as it seems...

Gavin lived in love with Scarlett. One moment, one second, two, three, it became an opportunity to consummate that love. However, certain circumstances led them to separate. A second opportunity presented itself but not before they facing some obstacles.

C. Lymari writing style is smooth. The way she showcases this emotional story is great! She highlighted the overcoming of a tragedy and the importance of having the unconditional love of the immediate family.

I loved Nate and I wish he had his own story. He was so protective and supportive. I need it!!!!

***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***

OH. MY. GOD!!! This book! Trust me when I say that you need this book in your life!

Scarlett and Gavin's chemistry was electric, and their story was heartbreaking. This is a story about second chances, but more importantly, it's about the importance of the truth. Scarlett and Gavin's lives were both torn apart because of lies, and when it all unravels, secrets that have been kept for years come to light, friendships are tested, and everything they thought they knew must be re-examined. I read this book in one day, because I just couldn't stop once I started. I needed answers, and I couldn't rest until I had them. Gavin's cocky and kind of an asshole at the start, but I'm a sucker for swoony guys, and he delivers that in spades too!

Oh, and for fans of Claudia's Homecoming series, there's a little treat for you in this book: Our favorite smart-mouthed football player makes an appearance as the quarterback on Gavin's football team. Yep, that's right, Quincy's in this book too. And let me just say that if I thought I loved him before, OH do I love him now!

As much as I love the Homecoming series, I have to say, this is my favorite book of Claudia's so far. Keep the awesome stories coming, Claudia! And give Quincy a book NOW!

I wished I would have known that those three seconds would change my life forever.

I wished that I had known that this book was going to change me. C.Lymari just ripped my heart out with For Three Seconds.

Sometimes all it takes is three seconds for life to change.

The story of Gavin and Scarlett was hard, it wasn’t rainbows and unicorns and I love books that push you and put you through the emotional wringer. When they cried, I cried. When they felt heart break, my heart was shattering with them. C Lymari takes you on a rollercoaster ride with the twists and turns that I should’ve seen coming but I didn’t.

“Let’s see if I can still make you feel.”

Can we just acknowledge how freaking swoon worthy Gavin was?! Like i want him to be real and say lines like this to me. Because when I was reading them, I felt them. Every single thing he said I felt it in my soul. That guy, he was so alpha and so sexy and I want him. So bad.

Gavin freaking Dunn was my unicorn.
Mine too, Scarlett, mine too.

All the angst ✔️
Heartbreakingly beautiful writing ✔️
All the emotions ✔️
Fantastic plot ✔️
Will make you want to scream at the author ✔️
Sizzling sexual tension ✔️
Characters that you want to maim ✔️

A story of second chances, lies and deceit.
When your past collides with your present, can you with stand the storm and find your second chance at happiness? Read For Three Seconds to find out! A must read.

✨✨✨✨One kiss, and three seconds, and no matter how many boys I kissed, they didnt make me feel like he did. I admired Scarlett for choosing her best friend feelings instead of hers, who wouldn't ? Even if it's the hardest thing you'd ever do. I think that if it's destiny , real love will find a way to makes things happen, no metter what. And so it was in this beautiful story, but the problem was only one: you can't make it work if one of them don't believe in it anymore. But Gavin made sure to believe in it and carry on for both when he understood what was the REAL END GAME.
the END WAS E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G a real SHOCK (IN A GOOD WAY FOR A CHANGE)
I GAVE IT 4.95 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🥺
( I DEVOURED IT IN ONE NIGHT)✨✨✨✨✨

Intense, Angsty and Emotional

This book had my emotions ALL over the place. The highs and lows in this story had my nerves frayed - but I wouldn't have it any other way because that's what great books do.

For Three Seconds is told by both Scarlett's and Gavin's POV and its hot, angsty, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and did I say hot? Because Gavin and Scarlett together??? Scorching! This story also had me feeling very stabby because, well, certain characters and situations kept pissing me off!

I am a HUGE fan of C. Lymari's writing style!
Her stories unfold in layers and she takes you on the same ride as the characters. If they are happy, so are you. If they bleed, you do too. I find myself constantly trying to figure out what's going to happen before it happens and she holds just enough back that I'm usually wrong but the way she does it works so well in her stories. It never fails that I want to devour her stories in one sitting.

If you love angst, For Three Seconds is a definite must read!

How do you measure time? Hours, days, weeks or months. What if you could only measure time in small increments of seconds? Precisely only three seconds. Well for Scarlett and Gavin, this is how they measure their relationships/lives.

Claudia absolutely wrecked me in the most emotional and glorious way. Scar and Gav have lived their whole life being friends since they were little, yet as children age, each respective child starts to develop different interest. Scarlett and Gavin have enormous road blocks, multiple missed connections where karma is not on their side.

Claudia is a new to me author, but she has smacked it out of the park with this book. I was obsessed, heartbroken, emotionally drained, yelled a few times 😉 and sighed. A book that should not be missed, if only for Gavin! Be still my beating heart!! ❤❤ Ms. Lymari, you have made another fan of yours! Thank you for Gavin and all the angst and heartache. These together made an exceptional book! However, I could do without Gigi!! 😡😡

This story is going to "eat you up" in 1,2,3 seconds. It will run through your veins, until will possess your mind and soul.
It's a challenge in all am for all. The story itself and it for the reader. It will break your heart so many times, and make you want to yell at those characters, or struggle with your empty hands a certain one....
It's a great escalation, an of limits stories...but not so much. It gives and takes, and when you LL think, okay I got where this goes to...boom it will rock your Earth under your feet. That's the magic, evil mind of the author, but I can promise you that you'll love every of those 3 seconds and crave for more, even if it will drive you crazy sometimes.

I was really excited for this book and what a book!!! I’m so grateful I was able to read this book early! Claudia Lymari is one of my fav authors. She is so good at building a story. I devoured this book from beginning to end in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.

The story starts with Scarlett and her bestie Gigi. Gigi has a crush on Gavin so he is off limits right? Girl code! But it all started with a kiss during a game of spin the bottle. They fell in love with each other but Scarlett is a loyal bestie and chose Gigi over her feelings for Gavin. It was heartbreaking. It would kill me to be in love with a guy and have to sit back as he dated my best friend. But that doesn’t stop the feeling they have for each other.

Scarlett went through so much during this book. I totally felt her pain, and what she went through beyond Gavin was tragic. This book includes some highly emotional subjects such as depression, loss, and death that a lot of people can relate to. Claudia really makes you feel everything with her writing and my heart completely broke for Scarlett.

Gavin... I completely loved him!! He was hot and cocky asshole football jock who when it came to Scarlett was a completely different kind of guy. He was going through his own tragedy in this book too.

Gigi made me so stabby!! I wanted to strangle her!! Grrrr!! 🤬🤬🤬 She was a complete bitch!!

If you love the angst and a book with a lot of feeling you’ve come to the right place! Claudia Lymari really knows how to bring it.

This book is the first book I've read by this author this it was a powerful read.

Imagine all it took was 3 seconds to completely change your life.
What would you do ?

Scarlet ' Scar ' has had a tough time. After her parents died she felt to blame, she felt very guilty. Nick is her brother and he's all she has left after their parents deaths. Scarlet suffers from nightmares and has therapy. Scarlet has been in love with someone she felt she could never have. The kiss.

Gavin ' Gav ' was dating Scarlet's best friend Gigi. Only Gavin has only ever had eyes for Scarlet, he's been in love with her as long as he has known her.
Gigi was Scarlet best friend but she didn't feel like she could be friends with her anymore because she was in love with her boyfriend, and Scarlet was scared of her feelings.

This story has alot of tragedy in it and Scarlet goes through alot and I really feel for her. This book is quite emotional and there is a lot of troubled times. These two both fight there feelings for each other alot.
I always love epilogue at the end of the book and I love to see where the characters are now, the author brought them to life awesomely and I kind of feel like I knew them.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.

After Three Seconds this book stole my Heart!!

This book wrecked Me and put my heart together page by page Three Seconds at a time.
I love all of C. Lymari's books but I think this is her best one yet. This book made me feel so many emotions at once that I literally had heart palpitations throughout the whole book(YES THIS BOOK IS THAT GOOD).
Scar and Gavin's story is Epic, two people that were meant to be together but couldn't.
Gavin was my perfect Hate/Love boyfriend. He was a total dutch that I love so much because regardless of his tough exterior he had a good heart.(Did I mentioned super HOT too?)
Scar was my favorite girl, who carried so much guilt and pain with her. She doesn't know how truly beautiful and strong she is.
Their relationship is tested from the very beginning and honestly their journey its not a pretty or easy one but a beautiful one at the end.
SO YES, THIS BOOK IT'S A MUST READ!!!!

I LOVED For Three Seconds so much! C. Lymari scored a touchdown with this book. Gavin and Scarlett had me hooked. I'm still trying to explain how much I love this book and how to explain it!

For Three Seconds definitely pushed me a little out of my comfort zone for a minute. But I pushed threw the part and could not have been happier I did. This story is not a happy love story, it's messy, broken, and complicated. But it also shows you what happens in three seconds. And sometimes three seconds is enough to change your life forever even if you don't know it.

Scarlett has loved Gavin for as long as she can remember, Gavin has loved Scarlett since they were kids. So what's the problem, righ? The problem is a best friend who should be anything but. I absolutely hate Gigi. And it hurts my heart that she is the reason those two were miserable for years.

Gavin is amazing and hot as hell! He refuses to let Scarlett run scared. Scarlett is dealing with things from her past and doesn't believe she deserves to be happy. She blames herself for things she should not. I screamed and cried while reading this book. The raw emotions this book evokes.

When Scarlett regains her memory of the night her parents die, secrets are revealed and lies are uncovered. So many lives change with just a few words spoken to jar her memory. In that moment my heart hurt for Scarlett finally discovering the truth, and just how betrayed she was by someone who was suppose to be her best friend. My heart hurt for Gavin and the knowledge that he mourned for something that wasn't his. That he was trapped in this guilt over something that he never should have had.

Gavin and Scarlett's relationship is messy, and beautiful. It's is full of three seconds that make up a lifetime. This book will show you what it means to love someone. Love isn't easy, and isn't rainbows and flowers, it hurts sometimes, sometimes it will make you cry. But real love survives all of that, real love gets strong with each three seconds that pass.

I'm still trying to process this book, but I beyond words loved this! All the stars for For Three Seconds and C. Lymari.

Three seconds can change your life, three seconds can make a difference and three seconds is all it takes between life and death. What would you do if you have three seconds? Scarlett and Gavin are two people that it only takes three seconds for life to okay and nothing else matters. Gavin has all of Scarlett's first but it's only a matter of time before that is all taken away from both of them. Scarlett has suffered so much pain in her lifetime that no one should have to go through but luckly she has her brother to help pick up the pieces of her messed up life. Gavin is a hot, cocky, football player but yet underneath all of that he has a caring heart. Gavin and Scarlett's relationship is like a roller coaster ride of emotions and you don't know where it will take you next. But the past doesn't stay in the past when Scarlett's former best friend Gigi appears and causes problems for these two who can't seem to catch a break with all of the drama, lies, broken promises and secrets. Do Gavin and Scarlett get there happy ending that they both truly deserve or will Gigi ruin everything again. I would give this book more than a 5 star rating if I had the option to. Three seconds can change the way you look at life and you need to use them wisely because alot can happen within three seconds.

Overall rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Second Chances stars.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First of all , a huge thank you to Claudia Lymari for this ARC. I consider myself lucky for the chance to read and review it early.

I love all things the author writes. I am already a huge enthusiast of her books. She has an unique talent of weaving heart warming stories of love and friendship and ofcourse second chances. This book was no different. Though it doesn't take place in my beloved Sunny Pines , it was as wonderful story of second Chance romance between two people who are meant to be together.

The line feels a little cliche, but it all started with a kiss. Two teens playing spin the bottle and a kiss lasting for three seconds changed the dynamics of friendship between Gravin , Scarlett and Gigi.

I felt this story to be comparatively different than all the previous books. That being said , it handles pretty dark subjects such as death , loss , suicide , depression and mental health. Scarlett's nightmare's left a lasting impression on me. I just love the author's humor and style of story telling. The way she captured the emotions and Scar's struggle for a new beginning. Coming to the chemistry between the two leads , I have few words for it - forbidden and Scorching hot. They are like two people who couldn't stay away. I love Scarlett's loyalty to Gigi. It was commendable but not worth it. She was as strong as she was vulnerable. The story has a strong backdrop , great dialogues and one of my favourite characters from Sunny Pines - Quincy. I can't wait to explore his story. There was lot of flashbacks from the past and a lot of misunderstandings between the characters but as the story builds everything become clear. Also I got to meet new characters in this story. Nick , Issac , Audrey , Kenia , Delia and ofcourse Quincy - are some of the great supporting Charcters featuring the book.I enjoyed it immensely along with the author's humor. I personally loved it and devoured it within hours.

I had fun reading it. Totally worth my time.
If you are a fan of the author or of her previous work , you should read it. If you haven't read her books yet , again , you must read it. I highly recommend it to all Y/A sports romance readers out there. If you love second chances , angsty plot , great storytelling, even better characters dealing with pretty serious matters and last but not the least - good ole chemistry between two people who wanted to be with each other but couldn't - then you really should give it a try.
I fell in love with Gavin and Scarlett. Hope you all love it too.

Until next time. Happy reading.

P.S. Trust me, ya'll aren't ready for this story.

First off, I have loved all the books this author writes but this book may now be my favorite yet! She has a way of pulling you in so her characters are your friends/family that you love! For Three Seconds so many things can happen in your life and this book definitely shows how many times three seconds changes everything for Gav and Scar. Gav and Scar knew at 12 they had an attraction but people and situations kept getting in the way. This book takes you through so many emotions, you will not want to put it down. Definitely a book worth reading!

“𝒪𝓃𝑒. 𝒯𝓌𝑜. 𝒯𝒽𝓇𝑒𝑒. 𝒜𝓃𝒹 𝐼 𝓀𝓃𝑒𝓌 𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓌𝑜𝓊𝓁𝒹 𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝒷𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝒶𝓂𝑒.“

Scarlett & Gavin are not to be missed.
The tension, the drama, the feels, it all wrapped up in such a pretty bow, I’m still in awe.
This is so much more than a second or even third chance romance, it’s about trust, and honesty, and the importance of both of these things in life.

Scarlett is broken. At least she seems to think so. Losing her parents drowns her in a tidal wave of grief that she can’t seem to escape.

Gavin is in love with Scarlett. From their first kiss to their last, you can feel it, even when he’s being a jerk.

The supporting cast took this book to a whole new height, showing the reader what could happen with a strong support system.

Hopefully we see more of this cast.
Highly recommending this read.

Sometimes 3 seconds is all it takes to change everything.

Gavin and Scarlett are made for each other but life gets in the way. Putting others first stops them from being together. They aren’t fooling anyone.

Pain and betrayal lead them back together. The path to each other is hard and not one for the faint of heart.

Truths come to light and 3 seconds is all it takes for hearts to begin to mend.

This is a short romance that packs a punch.

This is a MUST READ book of 2020!

C. Lymari has created an epic masterpiece with this work of fiction! For Three Seconds is a beautiful combination of love, teenage angst, relationship dramas, tragedy and survival. This book will make you feel so many different emotions while keeping you captivated by the storyline. I was both wanting to know how it all ends while never wanting the book to end because it was so good. There is a bit of a mystery, a bit of a second chance romance and a combination of friends/enemies to lovers but these don't really describe the story adequately.

Scarlett is not your typical main character female. She has a depth and fragileness to her that is hard to describe in a review without giving away spoilers. I related to her on a soul level and felt her pain as my own. Gavin Dunn is not the typical alpha male jock. There is more to him than meets the eye and as you read and get to know him you grow to appreciate him more.

I can't recommend this book enough! I am sending out copies to several of my friends as gifts because I loved this story so much.

This has been my favorite book this year!

I loved this book so much, I don't even know where to begin this review. Everything from the characters to the setting, to the story and the writing... was wonderful. I felt like this story was written for me. This book has a wonderful combination of some of my favorite tropes (second chance and a bit of enemy to lovers).

So, about the book:
Scarlett, Gev and, Gigi were friends since their tender age. Gigi likes Gavin but after Gavin and Scarlet exchange an accidental kiss, it's magic with sparks all around. But Scarlett can't have Gavin because her best friend (Gigi) had professed her love for Gavin long before the accidental kiss.

Many things come to pass and Scarlett has a mental breakdown. I felt so bad for her and all she went through but I was content at how the author handled this very sensitive subject. Then Gavin moved away but then he returned and started a relationship with Gigi.

As a good friend, Scarlett kept her distance until ... you have to read and find out.

Towards the end, we discover that not all was what it seemed and there were lies and manipulation to keep the pair apart. Some characters that I liked at the start, I loathed towards the end. but my love for Scarlett and Gavin was never shaken.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I loved it so much, you have no idea. Thanks to the author for this gift that I believe was crafted especially for me.

No rating for this one. DNF/semi skimmed.

I downloaded this the other day based on the blurb, but I’m not sure where I initially stumbled over it. Maybe FB—maybe GR. It doesn’t really matter.

The writing is fine, but it’s NA, it’s an OTT, angsty, hot mess. If that is your thing, this is your book.

Gavin Dunn needed a good bloody slap around the head for letting things go on as long as they did, omfg he frustrated me to the point I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. But despite the damage it would ha e fine to my wall and my kindle I refrained, as I knew later on in the story he would redeem himself, and he did.
I love a character that makes my blood boil and makes me mutter under my breath. He did.
Scarlett was such a good friend, I don’t know if I could have stuck to the “ bro code” like she did.
To me she was brave to turn up and face her fears and Gavin again at college and to keep going despite how hard she found it.
Despite the friendship fallout over Gavin I just couldn’t put my figure out the “ something else I’d going on here” theory I had going on.
I didn’t expect what Claudia dishes up to us
Omfg It was awesome and all of a sudden it all cane together.
Thank you Claudia for a well written story, that at times had me chewing the inside of my cheek, adjusting the size of my font on my kindle so I didn’t have to flick the screen pages so fast 😂🤣
Well done Chica 🥰

This is the 1st book I've read written by C. Lymari; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
