This being the fourth book in the series, I remain impressed at how well the author is telling the overarching story, morphing it a little bit in each book but holding true to some core plot lines and character tenets. In the end, this is really one primary character’s story, with various others coming into and out of her circle. Yet Druga is able to elevate other characters at times, and bring us other distinct POVs, and I’ve appreciated her writing skill. Good stuff!
I’m kind of in shock that this book ended on a somewhat happy note. We lose more characters but minor this time but still painful given the age 😟 Heroine realizes she’s pregnant which is just the best thing in the apocalypse. To make matters even betterworse she’s having twins and her only remaining child is immune to the virus thus a government pawn. All this occurs because the heroine just can’t give up on the thought of making bonds with survivors. Considering the dead keep coming and the virus is adapting I wish they’d just stay place but then there’d be no story to tell. With one more I hope that finally things will start turning around and they can start living a somewhat normal life again!

This series should have stopped with the third book unless she is planning to write more. Lots of plots wholes left unanswered like ummm when did Nila and lev have sex? When he was dying? Why could her daughter see into the future but was all cryptic and weird about it instead of being like yo belle’s gonna die and try to eat her baby. The ending was so boring I slept through it twice and had to listen to it again and I still for the life of me can’t remember what it’s about about because some long inter dialogue by Nila that answers nothing. I did like the first book and then I was like what the hell the are 5 hours I can listen. I wish I hadn’t.

I believe my title says it all. The storyline and character descriptions kept me turning pages. However, the editing and grammar errors made for very distracted reading of that storyline. Characters misnamed, wrong verb tense, using terms like “boarder” when “border” was meant; just a few of the significant number of errors. I read the entire My Dead World lineup and found each book increased in poor proofing and editing.
This was amazingly written. i felt like i was in Nilas shoes... i talk to my mom sometimes just like she talked to her "person" (if you didnt read the previous book i won't spill) i just wish that shed have thought about everyone and just go to the colony before stuff happened. im glad the amy guy joined them i really liked him from book 3 and im excited for book 5 to see where it ends or is it????
These book's we're fantastic!! Each one was we'll written and kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning. Her writing is straight forward and not a bunch of unneeded descriptions of words! Highly recommend!! Thank you for many hours of reading...hurry up with book 5!!
I wanted to read all 4 books before I wrote a review. I've read several apocalyptic books but this was different. The characters were so real one knows them so well. The suspense never let up and one suffers with each loss. I really really recommend these books. You will not be sorry.
Jacqueline Druga is one of my favorite apocalyptic writers. She weaves a story , totally plausible and totally engaging. I really enjoyed reading this series and eagerly await the next one !! You can’t go wrong with her book and she is , fortunately, quite a prolific writer.
I liked this book better than the previous books in the series. I think Nila is finally starting to feel like a real person. Unfortunately, it took 4 books to get there. I also really enjoyed the addition of Sean and his parts of the book were another reason why I liked this one better. Interested to see how the series ends.
Lucky these books are shorter novella length. I was a little disappointed with this one, after the blow of Levs death, and initially thought it was the final and hoped there would be some happier ending. No such luck, more shocking deaths and Nila's tribe move into the Colony. No matter, onto Book 5.
It had been quite awhile since I read the previous books and I was able to pick right back up and figure everything out again. I didn’t expect a lot of what happened to happen and it kept me on my toes.
Well what a brilliant novel. The final journey travelled for an ending to the virus, but, is it really the end. Lots of wonderful characters lost along the way. Katie was portrayed as a strange weird eerie child but her ways did make me smile.
Oh wow, just wow. What an amazing series My Dead World has been, love the characters, love the ups & downs of Nila's life. Very well written, keeps you gripped, makes you sad, makes you laugh. Brilliant series again by Jacqueline Druga.
This Series more and more.!! I hope you give it a good finish.!! I really like the Series for alot of reasons. It has alot of compassion and detail. Please write another to finish on a positive ❤ Thank much. Rebecca Bennett
As I had become invested in the characters I wanted to see what happened. This was better than book 3 but I had decided to read it rather than listen to it. It was a quick easy read but feeling that it is pushing gge boundaries a little maybe one book too far
I read all 4 books in 2 days they were great hopefully there's another series with the kids going to look now kept my interest the whole time my emotions were all over the place I really cared for the people and quite a few have bad endings
The author makes this virus so, confusing. One day it's not airborne and next maybe it is. The characters have to stay vigilant. They can't just think about themselves. They have to consider everyone in their immediate family.
If you're a fan of character-driven apocalyptic fiction, this series is for you. I devoured the first four in the series in a few days because they were impossible to put down. I just started the fifth and final book and I'm already sad because I don't want the series to be over.
I binge listened to all 4 of these audio books and I have to say, they were really good. I like the dystopian genre, but it often feels like “have I read this book before?”, which basically means the military hero, prepared for anything, saves the day scenario is common. Not here! “My Dead World” series takes a different look from the viewpoint of a several characters, none of them the military hero. If you like the genre, you’ll enjoy these! Highly recommend this 4-star series.
