Rate this book
In an instant, a time of joy and celebration turns to one of heartbreak and fear.

Tania has finally found a way to bring her two worlds together, and while enjoying a long-awaited meeting of her Mortal and Faerie families, with her beloved Edric by her side, all seems right for the princess.

But when a Faerie baby suddenly falls ill, followed by more and more Faeries—including her own sister Cordelia—Tania knows that something is terribly wrong.

With no time to lose, Tania joins forces with her sisters to find a cure before this dark plague kills everyone she loves. Yet as the illness spirals out of control, Tania realizes that what they really need is help from the Mortal World. But will bringing another stranger to Faerie only make things worse? With countless lives hanging in the balance and a fast-growing Faerie suspicion of all things Mortal—including Tania herself—Tania makes a desperate move that will either save the land and people she has come to hold dear... or destroy their only chance for survival.

Like this series has improved a lot since the first book, is it enough for a four star rating? Eh no.

One word "WOW!" As proclaimed by Connor through out the story. As many of you know who have read the "The Faerie Path" Series, Tania is continually trying to save the land of Faerie from danger after danger. In this last installment, she does nothing less. When an infant child of Faerie falls sick everyone goes searching for answers. Tania is in search of the truth that is beneath the child's sickness.

I recommend this book if you like faeries, romance, and adventure.

I like the first 3 books in the series enough for me to continue on and read the 4th book, The Immortal Realm . However I totally lost interest in this series after reading this. I found myself skipping too many pages mainly because I am quite a little bit annoyed with Tania now. I am not amused anymore in their faery world. So even though I was able to finish this book, I am now sure that I am going to drop this series completely. I just wished that I stopped reading after the 3rd book…

Though this series is proving to have smallish ideas (only in comparison to the usual of other series this length), I still like them. Sure, there's a lot of happy, and any sad is dulled and much less, but I like it that way. I like happy stories.
The humor in these is limited to Tania or others making references to the real world, and a Faerie asking what she means by words like, "okay." It does get a little repetitive, and I'd hoped for more newness as this series progresses.
Tania is finally starting to get some of her memories back, though slowly. She continues to accidentally (and deliberately) go against Faerie traditions that don't make sense, which makes her seem strong, but it also reminds the reader that Tania's only sixteen.
These books are beautiful (the covers and the way they're written), but they're not complicated. At all. There are plenty of details and some twists here and there, but not many and all the evil seems...unfrightening.
But, as I said, I like a few books that way now and then. Easy, comforting reads.

This entire series has taken a decided downhill turn. The first book was really good; the second and third were pretty decent...but this installment was so bleak, and Tania so impulsive and somewhat self-righteous, that i found it really hard to engage with the story. Tania irritated me to no end (I feel kind of sorry for Edric for being stuck in love with her, especially after his public attempt at a Define-The-Relationship moment didn't work so well), and after the first five pages or so, virtually nothing good happened in this book. People die, get deathly ill, estranged, trapped, banished, heartbroken...and it doesn't even all get wrapped up in the end - these cliffhangers are becoming abominable. The entire book felt like a cross between an unnecessary sequel to the original trilogy and a mess of really depressing groundwork for the next book. I'm hoping The Enchanted Quest provides a solid, satisfactory ending to the series, and that Tania straightens herself out by then.

These just keep getting better and better! Good plot twists and ups and downs, I am completely hooked on these characters. The only bad thing is, I will warn you, this one ends with a cliffhanger and book 5 won't be out until the end of January. Love, love, love these books!

If it weren't for the last few pages where we got new information, I don't know what I would have done with this review, to be honest. I liked the new lore, and I am curious to learn more about Faerie's past. That is my only reason for continuing this series (and because I'm almost done if we’re being fair).

I enjoyed Connor, but only sometimes. He was funny to read about because of his sarcasm (even if it was cringy occasionally) and I totally relate to him when he says that

Rathina was probably the best character in the whole book, and I still don't like her. I feel that her redemption arc just flew over my head, so I don’t get her motivations. But after all she went through, she deserved so much better for carrying this whole book and plot on her back, okay?

But here comes my whining:

Firstly, I feel like I read some COVID-19 fanfic, and it was written in 2009, mind you. Frewin Jones saw the plague coming, and nobody knew.

Second of all, the main couple (Tania and Edric) were seriously off the rocket with stupidity and teenage behavior on this one. Tania was insufferable all around but with him?? Goodness, gracious... But many other times I found that Edric was right, but he still behaved like a prick too. I simply cannot root for them!

Oh God, and the time skip. I was so excited to see Tania's Earth parents going hysterical, and the author puts a time skip on me of three weeks where I miss their mental breakdown and the whole proposal between Cordelia and Bryn!!! I was so mad in the span of just 20 pages that it must have been a record.

The Immortal Realm was a good book, it did say the G** word and a D** word in it. But I still wouldn't suggest this book to anyone because it will just waste your time reading the book series. If I could I would rate this book 3 1/2 because it got a little better as the series went on. But I still wouldn't suggest reading this book series. If you are going to read it I would suggest to be prepared for weird and also start from the first book so you get what is going on in the books. I would suggest 11 and older (if you are going to read this book) because I don't think little kids would get what is going on in the book series. But I would definitely suggest NOT to read this book series, because it will just waste your time.

This book was truly amazing! I honestly had my doubts since I wasn't sure how they would continue after the ending of the last book, but man was this book a ride. The amount of emotions that went through me as I read through it was amazing, and I just felt myself burning past the pages, wanting to know more about what was going to happen. I will say, though, there were some parts that got me really annoyed just because of the actions of certain characters and also, that the ending of the book was left on a cliff hanger. I just wish I could give more than just a single digit of stars. But I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who has read this series to this point and I am eagerly awaiting to start the next book as soon as I can.

I like the premise what happens after happily ever after. Tania has grown in some ways. She started playing loves Edric but Now a new problem has surfaced. The fairies are getting sick and some have died they do not know the cars as that has not happened in many many years. Unfortunately Tania sister Cordelia is now sick. With the help of her sister Rathina, and her mortal friend Connor they must now find a cure and find the last Caer.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but somewhere near the middle it became nearly unbearable how slow and boring it was. The whole debacle with the healer Hollis and Lord Aldrich was so blah. However, after struggling through that portion, the book picks back up! And that ending is super exciting! Breathing underwater, heck yes!

I finished a quite violent complex novel yesterday. I picked this up as a counterbalance. The series started with a pretty intriguing premise: normal teenage girl learns she is actually a Fae princess. However, by book four, I’m doing lots of skimming, because the plots seem so stilted and silly. I’d actually rate this 2.5.

I think it was a good book I loved how Edric propose to Tania but I can believe that she didn't accept his proposals, it was sad to see him go and how they left thing but I think it was good for them to be a part for now.

The Immortal Realm, the fourth installment in The Faerie Path series by Allan Frewin Jones, continues the enchanting journey of Tania, the long-lost Faerie princess who must navigate the challenges of two worlds. This book deepens the lore, raises the stakes, and brings an intriguing mix of political intrigue, romance, and magical conflicts that will keep readers hooked.
Plot Overview

Tania, still torn between her human and Faerie identities, finds herself facing an even greater challenge when Faerie falls into turmoil. A new threat emerges in the form of the Sorcerer King of Lyonesse, who seeks to seize power and disrupt the fragile peace of the realm. As war looms, Tania must embrace her role as a princess and leader, using her unique abilities to protect her loved ones and save Faerie from impending destruction.

Meanwhile, her human world connections remain a source of emotional struggle. Her love for Edric is tested, alliances shift, and secrets unfold as Tania learns that destiny is not something she can simply ignore.
What Works Well

Higher Stakes and Darker Themes – This installment raises the emotional and political tension, making the story more intense and mature than the previous books. The introduction of war and the Sorcerer King adds an urgent sense of danger.
Complex Character Development – Tania continues to grow as a protagonist, becoming more decisive and courageous while struggling with the weight of her responsibilities. Her relationships, especially with Edric, are tested in realistic and emotional ways.
Expanded World-Building – The book introduces new locations, myths, and histories within Faerie, enriching the setting and making the world feel even more immersive.
Pacing and Suspense – The balance between action, dialogue, and inner conflict keeps the story engaging, making it difficult to put down.

Room for Improvement

Repetitive Elements – While the story is engaging, some aspects of the plot, such as Tania’s struggle between the two worlds, begin to feel slightly repetitive. By the fourth book, readers may wish for fresh conflicts beyond her dual identity dilemma.
Supporting Cast Could Shine More – While Tania is a strong protagonist, some of the supporting characters, including her sisters and other Faerie figures, could have had more depth and development.

Final Thoughts

The Immortal Realm is an exciting continuation of The Faerie Path series that offers an immersive and emotionally charged adventure. With higher stakes, political intrigue, and a more developed protagonist, it is a great read for fans of fantasy novels filled with magic, romance, and heroism. While some elements may feel familiar, the story remains engaging and offers enough twists to keep readers invested.

Would I recommend it? Yes—especially to readers who have enjoyed the previous books in the series. Fans of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and The Inheritance Cycle will likely find this an enjoyable and rewarding read.

Tania thought all of the threats to her beloved Faerie disappeared with the Sorcerer King of Lyonesse's death in battle; she was wrong.

Life is sweet for the Faerie princess and her family at the beginning of THE IMMORTAL REALM with the enchanted wedding of daughter Cordelia to Bryn Lightfoot, but tragedy strikes when a Faerie infant quickly succumbs to a mysterious illness. Since disease and death are unheard of in this realm of immortality, suspicion immediately falls upon Tania's mortal father for attending the wedding while sick.

As members of the royal family fall ill, those stricken flee to the Summer Palace of Verglad to prevent further spread of the disease. A new threat looms with arrival of Lord Aldrich of Weir, one of The Great Lords of Faerie and father to Tania's (banished) former fiancé, Gabriel Drake.

He insists that Faerie's current strife lies in Tania's half-mortal taint and demands either her banishment behind an unbreakable enchantment, or the removal of her ability to shift between worlds. This, coupled with sister Cordelia falling victim to the mysterious illness, spurs Tania into desperate action, putting not only herself and her family in danger, but an innocent human as well.

I have to say that THE IMMORTAL REALM is the best and my favorite of THE FAERIE PATH series so far, mostly because Tania finally breaks free of (what I've always felt is) the unrealistic "eternal" attachment to Edric, and starts discovering what she's capable of as an independent young woman. The addition of a human friend from Tania's past helps ground her in the reality that she has very little "life experience," while the separation from Edric and time spent with sister Rathina contributes to her overall growth.

I only wish there had been more of a resolution instead of a "to be continued," which lent to my final grade of four stars, rather than five.

As the festivities of Princess Cordelia and Bryn’s marriage ceremony continued, few took notice of the sick child. Being in the Realm of the Faeries, no one had been sick or died of natural causes in a thousand years, and for it to start so soon after the final victory over the Sorcerer King made the death of the first child even more pronounced. All were stunned to find out that this was only the first to fall ill. Some fingers pointed to the half-Faerie, half-Mortal Princess Tania and her mortal parents, leaving King Oberon little choice but to banish Mr. and Mrs. Palmer back to London with the hopes that the infection they supposedly brought to the Realm would quickly subside with them gone. There could always be another reason for the illness, but not knowing where to look for answers Princess Tania, along with her sister Princess Rathina takes the ‘side step’ between worlds looking for help from a mortal doctor, who could make things better or worse in the end.

Book 4 ….. Think, figure and try to determine the best coarse of action - that is what Tania had to do in this book. Being guided by a dream, relying on faith, making and breaking promises to her Faerie father (King Oberon). A very clear plan of action, but nothing ever goes as it was planned. The emotional tug of war with Edric in this one is another story all it’s own, sometimes I felt his pain more than I felt anything for Tania, but other times her confusion over how to fix or deal with the situation over rode all other story lines. This is such a complex series, just as you think it is about to be over, they have already walked right into another adventure (now you have to wait to read it). The way Frewin Jones can leave you (or at least me) screaming for more is a credit to him in the creation of these simple yet intriguing characters. I anxiously await the release of Book 5 - The Enchanted Quest (which is not suppose to be released till Jan 26, 2010) *sigh* - and the wait begins.

This one wasn't as good as the first couple books. I hate when an author creates characters that fall madly in love, but then never let them be together. I also didn't like that the mysterious plague takes over most of the book & then we are left hanging.

This installment in the Faerie Path series ranks lower in my mind than all the rest.

Honestly, this may be more of a 'me' problem than it is this book's fault. I recently have struggled with series and it's painful for me to get through all the books. Unless the series is spectacular, I get bored and fear never being able to finish the whole series.

In this book, I wanted to scream at Tania for not thinking of more ideas sooner and not following the dreams she'd been given. I also hated the Conclave of Earls and how heartless they were the whole time. None of their decisions held any compassion and were incredibly unfair to Tania. I loathed how long was spent on the plague and everyone pointing fingers and floundering uselessly, which did nothing to advance the plot.

The more I think about this book, having finished it, this just feels like filler to make the series longer. Barely anything seemed to happen until nearly the last fourth of the book. When the book finally starts getting to some more interesting plot points, it ends. All the other books so far have been more episodic and had nice endings, which makes it all the more obvious that the plot was stretch past it's breaking point in order to keep the series going for two more books.

I'm glad I finished this book, but it sure took some effort to make it all the way through.

well i love stories with fantasy and fairies and magic and whatever gotta do with it. i bought this book at a BIG BAD WOLF SALE from one of my fave bookstore. pretty cheap i must say. i was reading through the first chapter when i realized this is a series book and i happened to read the fourth book of the Faerie Path. DANG, i should read it thoroughly before buying it.now i need to find the other first 3 books and the sequel of this book. This story is about Tania one of the Faerie princess that lost in the human world after an incident(well in the previous book)as she has the power to travel between worlds.the fourth book is about how a disease suddenly strike Faerie world and there is no cure found to treat it. so, this start another new adventure for Tania... the rest read it for yourself.it can be boring for the few first chapters but its ok when u read more. if you are bored n happen to buy this book.you can read it.the end of this chapter makes you want to find the next book. so, i havent found it yet. happy reading y'all....

Her father gave her a really mean decision to make. Decide between living with her Mortal parents and everything she grew up knowing, remembering, or a family and world she's struggling to remember but went through so much grief when she disappeared.
And then Edric doesn't help matters much.
He obviously really didn't know her well if he thinks she wants to get married right at that point. He should realize that the way she was raised people wouldn't get married that young. So what if she was going to marry Gabriel Drake? That wasn't really her... It was her, but at the same time it wasn't. Why couldn't he just be happy with the way things were?

I hope Rathina and Connor end up together. MAYBE Connor and Tania, but I think Tania and Edric should be together, and they should get to KNOW each other better...

It has been awhile, 11 months, since I read the last book in The Faerie Path series. I didn't really remember much about the plot of the story, just the overall feeling that I really enjoyed them. And after reading this fourth book, I remember why.

The story just flows so easily. And I get so invested in the characters. I want to know what is going to happen with Tania and Edric. And what the fate of Connor will be. And if Tania will be able to find the cure for the plague.

I am having a hard time reviewing this book without giving anything away, so I will just say this:
The book ended at a place where it left me wanting more. I don't think it was a cliffhanger exactly, but there were so many questions left unanswered. I'm glad that I have the next book in the series, The Enchanted Quest, to read right away.
