Lord Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche, is the oldest, most serious, and most responsible son of the disgraced Marquess of Vegas. The daughter of an Indian Maharaja, for example.
Rani Priya Narayan was sent to London by her father, the Maharaja of Koch Bihar, to study and learn the refinements of the British ruling class. The last thing she has time for is a devilishly handsome earl with an agenda of his own.
Francis has his work cut out for him when it comes to winning Priya’s approval, let alone her hand in marriage. You never know what might happen when two stubborn enemies-to-lovers who were both born to lead end up in a sticky situation on some enchanted evening….

USA Today Bestselling author Merry Farmer lives in suburban Philadelphia with her two cats, Justine and Peter. She has been writing since she was ten years old and realized she didn't have to wait for the teacher to assign a creative writing project to write something. It was the best day of her life. Her books have reached the top of Amazon's charts, and have been named finalists for several prestigious awards, including the RONE Award for indie romance.
Lord Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche, needs to marry. He’s the oldest son and heir of the loathsome Marquess of Vegas, so it is his role to take care of his family, meaning he’s about to join his brothers in their quest to marry wealthy but unsuitable brides. His solution is a beautiful Indian princess.
Rani Priya Narayan has come to England along with her younger brother to further her education. Her family thinks she’s been learning to move in British society but really, she’s been developing her opinions on the rights of women and critiquing British rule in India. She has no time to give to a handsome earl with his own plans.
Francis definitely has an uphill battle in his courtship of Priya as she seems to openly despite him. But Priya has a secret she has kept completely to herself, but it will inevitably come out with her father’s arrival in England. Francis may just win her heart, but Priya knows they still can’t be together, even if he won’t take no for an answer.
I have to say, when I first started this book, and probably for about the first half or so, I was not a fan of Priya at all. She was ridiculously mean to Francis at first, but as her situation became clearer, it became more and more obvious that she was entirely charmed by Francis, despite trying not to be, and that she was in an utterly untenable situation. I wasn’t overly fond of Francis during this first bit either just because of how often he referred to his pursuit of Priya as a game. Thankfully, they both grew in their relationship, and I enjoyed seeing their feelings mature into something real and solidify as they decided they had to fight to be together. Priya’s family, especially her brother, was extremely annoying and I do wish she’d been able to put at least Jeetan in his place more, but I did love the ending here and was pleasantly surprised to find that Francis could be such a romantic.

Francis is the third brother to find love & what a lovely story it was – it certainly was enchanting. I loved both Francis & Priya, he started by wanting to thwart his horrid father but quickly fell hard & fast for Priya. She also fell for Francis but had a huge secret. I became totally invested in their journey to a HEA as it seemed to be impossible. The mysterious Prince Petrus also made another appearance & his secret is also revealed. Another very well written engrossing, enthralling read which I devoured in a sitting My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Wonderful, smart and outstanding women characters Francis and Priya play a bit of a cat and mouse with each other but oh when papa shows up bringing a guest well things really turn interesting. Expect some other twists to this one too great work by the author. It had a great blend of characters but the main bad guy did not show his face till the very end and it looks like the family will need to be dealing with him again. It is too bad the main dude who caused all the problems is getting away you could say scot free. Cannot wait for the next book to see what rabbits the author pulls out of her hat. This was a really good book and if you are a fan of Merry Farmer it is one you need to read. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to review it. A Love Story! A wonderful story about two characters fighting for their right to be together - against all odds. It was interesting to see how Francis and Priya were able to bridge the gap created by coming from two very different cultures, each having their own ideals to aid in their survival, with love and trust. The story shows how sometimes one needs to bend a little, to compromise and accept change too. Throughout the story, there is a strong love growing and changing lives, not only those of Francis and Priya, but the lives of family and friends too. It is a beautiful love story and it has left me with my heart feeling full.

Priya's secret is a proxy husband that she doesn't want. Merry Farmer has written another good book. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Hiding a secret, Priya knows that she cannot have the traditional life of an Englishwoman, so when Francis Rathboure-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche starts to woo her, she quickly tries to dissuade him but ends up falling head over heels in love. I have been curious about how this book would work ever since meeting the character of Priya in the previous book. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and thought the author did an excellent job with the multiple cultures in it and in how life was for foreigners in this time period. At first, I didn't really care for Francis, he was too aloof, seeing everything as a game and Priya as a prize to be won but he came around. I thought Priya's plight was done well with the cultural pull and feministic undertones of her character, you could really empathize with her dilemma. This story was slow to get going for me and didn't pick up till nearly the halfway mark. It failed to grab my attention and I found myself skimming through pages which I never do with a Merry Farmer book. I felt the moment Priya gave in and was with Francis in Brighton seemed to happen too fast, their relationship needed more building. But as mentioned, the story after this point moves along better especially once the maharaja shows up with a surprise. And of course you can count on steam (bedroom scenes) and a sweet romantic storyline. I do recommend this book and thought it was a nice addition to the series and to the family of brothers choosing unconventional wives. I would encourage readers to read the series in order as there are many characters and backstory items that are better if you know them. I already cannot wait for the next story! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love the premise of these books that the sons of a man who has ruined his family decide to find brides who will in essence ruin the family more. I also love that authors like Merry Farmer are writing more historical romance stories that break away from the Duke/virgin type if you know what I mean. This book has a very interesting and unconventional heroine called Rani who is not white (gasp!). I love the set up that she is looked down upon in England but is is technically of much higher rank than Lord Francis. Everyone is against their getting married, even themselves at times but the pull and heat between them is just too strong. And what a pull! Let’s just say that this series has a lot of other stuff in it that’s not in a typical historical romance book. To say that this book is interesting may make it sound like a history lecture and that’s not how it comes across at all. The romance story is definitely the focus of this book but there is so much actual history skillfully woven into the tale as well that adds to the plot and becomes essential to their relationship. If you like historical romance books and want to read some terrific ones then I highly recommend this book and this series to you.

Some Enchanted Evening knocked my socks off! I wasn’t a fan of Francis through the prior books, but Merry managed to change my opinion of him. I enjoyed seeing Francis in a new light. Watching him have fun, falling in love with Priya after realizing that he wanted someone who would keep him on his toes was a revelation. I think he realized why his brothers were willing to go to the lengths that they did for the women they loved.
I appreciated the fact that Priya was a smart woman who was confident enough to stand up to her brother and father. There were a couple instances when I wished I could have shaken some sense into her! Jogendra was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed his character immensely. In fact, I wish we could read about his love story in India! I also sincerely hope we get to find out more about Prince Petrus and his love story.
Lady Vegas has found her feet and has turned into someone to be reckoned with. I hope we see her featured in upcoming books. I would love to see her face down Montrose with her newfound strength! I’m also looking forward to Joseph’s escapades with Miss Garrett. I’m here for it; bring it on!

Book three in a series where four brothers scheme to find wealthy and socially unacceptable brides. Afterall, if they ruin their own family name, then Montrose, an enemy determined to destroy them, will have no societal leverage. Francis, the eldest brother and the Earl of Cathraiche, decided that Priya would be his bride shortly after meeting her, and much of the book is him enticing her to favor him. When they finally accept their feelings for each other, a major obstacle is revealed. She is faced with giving up the love of her life in order to honor her father’s wishes, or defying her father and losing her family. To say this is an emotional rollercoaster is an understatement. Francis’s determination and commitment is magnificent. We see a very different gentleman than viewed in the previous books, and the way he enrolls his family’s assistance is heartwarming. This story has humor and heart, and you will find yourself holding your breath as you root for the lovebirds to be together. As always with this author, the story is well written, full of surprises and incredibly entertaining…..and the epilogue tees up the next book in the series. So well done! Such a good story!.

Ms. Farmer never fails to captivate with her brilliant writing and this latest installment of The Unsuitable Brides does just that! The story continues with Lord Vegas' oldest son, Francis. Lord Vegas made a mistake and his sons are paying the price. They have all been told to marry money, but they decide to strike back and marry the most unsuitable bride. While Francis is the most sensible and responsible of the brothers, that doesn't stop him from following along with his brothers to enact revenge on their father. He will follow suit and find an unsuitable bride, one such as the daughter of a maharaja. Priya is very independent and outspoken and a strong supporter of women's rights. She is seen to be somewhat of a hoyden, and Francis sees her as the perfect bride to enact his rebellion on his father. But Francis is soon captivated by her and she wants nothing to do with him. Watching these two play cat and mouse was such fun and their witty and on point dialogue was fantastic. An outstanding story full of wit, humor, culture and romance, I think this is my favorite so far! I am completely hooked on the series and can't wait to read the next one! I received a complimentary copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
O, Merry, Merry! Do you know what you're doing to a person who always remembers Lyrics?
I've been singing Each Song from South Pacific for 3 days non stop! Yes, even while reading! Now "Luck be a Lady! When am I going to be able to stop humming and driving my husband crazy with mumbled tunes, if he stuffs a sock in my mouth, I'm contacting you to save me! Not even "I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair", or the Advertisement change of "grey" will leave me be...
Okay, joking about my musical obsessions aside! Wow, a Rani, Womans Rights, Arranged Marriages and Weddings by Glove! How do you keep the facts straight if you're not a Gemini? Well, I'm glad I am one!
As always a great story, and a bit of a break from one vilain, but let us not get too exited, as it seemsca new one is born, or is it? With a twist I suspected from the Savoy with Dean and Nan's affair, a new story I can hardly wait for. Will 4 friends become an unconventional family? Suddenly The United Kingdom is shrinking considerably, and the touch of some of our old friends making cameo appearance is just what we need, lest we forget!

In this the third book of the series it's Francis' turn to find an unsuitable bride who will help restore the family's fortunes after they were lost by his father. He chooses Priya, the daughter of an Indian Maharaja. What starts as a pure attempt to just find a bride gradually develops into real feelings between the two, however there are serious issues that might prevent their happy ever after. As usual the story also looks at social issues at the time, in this case arranged marriages. Priya is a "modern" girl, with her own mind and independence, however she is also constrained by her love for her family. Francis does appreciate her for who, rather than what, she is, not necessarily a common point of view for a man at that time, especially for one of rank. There are some definitely spicy moments, so not a "sweet" romance, but you do feel for them both, but also the third person in the relationship. The epilogue sets the scene for the next book in the series, which definitely sounds exciting. I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Lord Vegas has gotten into financial trouble, and who knows what else, and is being threatened with ruin by a wacko villain known only as Montrose. His sons plan to remedy the situation with a modified version of Lord Vegas solution. They will find wealthy, unsuitable brides.
Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche, is the eldest son of and heir to Lord Vegas. Franicis meets Priya Narayan in the park where she provides him with a lesson in how to treat an Indian princess. Right there, Francis knows he has found his bride. Priya is beautiful, intelligent, and reform-minded. Francis is the most serious of the brothers and is determined to win Priya. Theirs is an entertaining story and their journey to HEA is very interesting, jumping through hoops is one way to describe it. There is a bit of drama, but it is surrounded by humor. The characters are marvelous. Can Francis find a way to convince Priya’s traditionalist father that he is the right man for her? They get some help from an unexpected source. There are some other unexpected events, secrets that weren’t supposed to be revealed, and unappreciated appearances by Lord Vegas and Montrose (who is supposed to be broke and gone). Great story! I look forward to Joseph’s story.

What a great series Merry Farmer has given readers. The Unsuitable Brides Series is about four brothers who intend to damage the family’s reputation as much as they can by marrying the most unsuitable brides they can find to get back their father for ordering them to marry for money. So the oldest, Lord Francis sets out to find his special bride in Some Enchanted Evening. And Francis has set his sights on Rani Priya Narayan, a princess from India, but Priya has a secret that may stop her from being with Francis. As Priya and Francis treading a bumpy path in this rom-com anything is possible with the help from Francis family. With characters who found a place in your heart are back so you get to catch up with those who found a special place in your heart. Some Enchanted Evening is well-written and very enjoyable, with a cast of characters that come to life as you find yourself drawn into their story, sizzling passion, witty banter and with one fantastic plot. It leaves you eagerly anticipating the next in the series to see who their youngest brother has decided to make his bride.
We get the eldest brother Francis' story in Merry Farmer's Some Enchanted Evening. The premise of the series is four brothers are looking for brides to repair their family's fortunes. Not just any brides though - unsuitable brides to basically piss of their father.
Francis first glimpses Priya (beautiful name) in the park and is instantly intrigued by a woman who is quite different than others. Not only is she from India, she is smart, a princess, feisty when fighting for women's voting rights and beautiful. He sets his sites on her to be his unsuitable bride.
But Priya isn't really into Francis. She has a bit of a chip on her shoulder and believes that he is judging her even when he really is not.
This novel has a bit of an enemies to lovers feel without too much hatred in the main characters' hearts. More just misunderstanding that Francis is who he seems. Characteristic steamy scenes that are HOT!! Very fun read.
I love the situation set up in this series. In this particular one, the eldest brother Lord Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche, will find the perfect lady to marry. Not perfect meaning “a worthy one”, but one he finds unsuitable enough to anger their father, the disgraced Marquess of Vegas, who got them into this mess of having to restore the family fortune. Rani Priya Narayan, the daughter of an Indian Maharaja, holds scandalous views that will make Francis’ father squirm in embarrassment at her political leanings over women’s rights.
The humor along the way will keep a smile on the reader’s face as we also take note that love and feelings do sneak in when the gentlemen are not looking. This bride is no dummy and she can keep Francis well in line. Priya has a secret no one else knows and it will soon become apparent. Can Francis find a way around this impediment?
Francis is helping the family to regain some money, after his father managed to spend it all. His brothers have married for love but have chosen very unsuitable brides. Priya has been sent to England to go to a ladies college, she's keeping a secret though. She's a very forward thinking young lady, and follows Emily Pankhurst supporting women's right to vote. A thoroughly unsuitable bride! Priya's father arrives from the Indian continent and is very unhappy with his daughter's relationship with Francis, trying to separate them. Will Priya be able to marry the man of her dreams? Can Francis give her up?

I enjoyed reading this story because it is entertaining, full of surprises and you can’t wait to see what is going to happen next. I also love the devotion and support the Rathborne-Paxton brothers have for each other and their extended family when things get rough. Francis has one goal on his mind but that suddenly turns into more than he had anticipated when he falls in love with Priya. This is an entertaining romance but there are complications that puts their happiness in jeopardy. There is a HEA but danger is still lurking and a well kept secret comes to light which adds another interesting twist to the story. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Merry Farmer has an amazing talent, instead of dropping historical facts here and there, she can write a book and make it seem like a beautiful, wonderful history lesson 😜 Francis is looking for an unsuitable Bride, just to p off his father, Priya is just wanting to be a free woman and to help all women to live life as they want, not controlled by men, she fell in love with Francis but her father had control over her life, I loved how Francis supported and fought for their love 💕 this is a great read about all the struggles of being a woman and just wanting to be with the one you love, highly recommend!! It's 🔥🔥
Francis angered Priya from the start but more from misunderstandings. I think she was a little too sensitive and quick to temper. But he can’t help the attraction and she’s the perfect choice for a wealthy scandalous bride. She fights it even when she starts to return his feelings because she has a secret that will keep them apart. I was surprised her Indian royalty father with his ideas about a woman’s place would allow her to go to college in England with her brother. Priya’s intended was funny with his love of all things England, but will he stand in the way of true love? I liked her friend Charlotte and I can’t wait to see how her potential romance plays out.
The quest to find another unsuitable bride continues. NOW it's turn of lord Francis, thr heir to his father to join his brothers in finding the most unconventional bride. He zeroes in to a beautiful Indian princess priya .Priya has been sent to England to further her education but she has her own agenda.she is a strong independent woman with views of her own.she believes in women's rights and is strongly against British rule in India. Both Francis and Priya had secrets.Francis initially took winning priya's hand as a game. Both slowly fell for each other.thrir chemistry was steamy. After a few twists and turns they finally have their "happy beginning ".
This was Lord Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche and Rani Priya Narayan’s story. She’s a Princess from India and the daughter of an Indian Maharaja. They are not suited for each other status wise. But that doesn’t mean Lord Francis won’t try to make Priya his wife. Priya has become outspoken for women’s rights, which doesn’t sit well with her family. I did enjoy this story, but not as much as the others. I’m looking forward to the next book. I want to see if the younger brother gets matched up with the cattle ranch American Princess.
Wonderful story of Lord Francis Rathborne-Paxton, Earl of Cathraiche and Rani Priya Narayan, who get together for all the wrong reasons and it turns out its all the right reasons. The cultural differences between these two were very interesting, and how they learned about each other and accepted, and changed because of them. This is part of the Unsuitable Brides series but can be read as a standalone.
Francis sees Priya and he has got to get to know her . Francis is trying to keep their family afloat and Priya is not only a beauty but also an Indian princess. Their cultures and her family do everything to keep them apart but they manage to fall in love. But there is a huge complication and Francis' brothers and his Aunt and Mother join forces to get this couple a happy ending. A book with strong, opinionated women and the men who fall in love with them.
I enjoyed listening to this book via epub for sight impaired people. Absolutely fantastic book, I enjoyed hearing about different cultures wedding arrangements very interesting. As always Merry gets it right, looking forward to hearing more about this series and where it will next lead to. I am reviewing this on both here booksprout and Amzon. I would recommend this book. 👌
And very entertaining. Merry Farmer takes us on a merry romp with the eldest brother in the family as he continues in his quest to marry a completely unsuitable woman as part of the brothers' plan. Unusual excitement ensues, but can he make this woman his bride? READ READ READ It's a fun tale!
I have read all three books in this series and I’m so looking forward to the fourth book. It is very interesting with all the different twists and turns in each book and it’s also very exciting to read. This is a new to me author and I will be checking out all of her other works.

First, the cover and title of this are fabulous. Merry puts a lot of research into her books and it shows. I loved Priya and understood her secret. Shhhh…you have to read to find out. It is a doozy. This was a sweet story from beginning to end.
Oh my, what a delightful story. Another great book in this series. Merry Farmer has totally written a fantastic series. Each book has been so wonderful to read. I am looking forward to reading the next & last book in this series.
