Welcome to Living Past, the world’s first tourism-based time travel company. Understand the culture, the politics, and the people who shape the world as it is today. Live the Past.
Elle
Why does Living Past need an obstetrician? Hell if I know, but an airtight non-disclosure agreement is keeping my questions to a minimum. Well, that and a paycheck large enough to wipe out my student loans.
It’s easy money until I meet Kol. He’s not what I expected a Viking to be and might be the reason for the final clause in my NDA: No fraternization while in the past.
Kol
It’s been two months since I noticed the eerie calm in the air. Try as I might, I can’t find the cause or get anyone in the village to care. Until I meet Elle.
She’s gorgeous, smart, and the only person who’s willing to help me. But now I’m worried she has something to do with this mystery. I think I can prove it, but she won’t like it.
The Viking and the Calm is a Time Travel Viking Instalove Romance novella that is a fast-paced one hour read. This is the 3rd book in The Living Past: Vikings series.
Well with Elle and Kol she should be the 3rd to stay then more. I enjoyed this book very much. Love all the characters and storylines so much. Magnus falling off the roof and landing on axe. Youch!!! On to the next one. 💜💜💜💜💜
The next piece of the prophesy puzzle arrived! OB duties in the past and a nondisclosure agreement sets the stage for Elle to enter the story. Living Pasts really has some interesting situations to sort out a thing just don’t go as expected. With Kol entranced by the lack of ind and the overall prophesy, it is not surprising that he is drawn to Elle. A crisis and a change of plans just increase the suspense for the next story!
This is a good series! Each book is very very veryyy short and to the point but I like the characters and plot. Of the first three I think I was most interested in these two MCs but then it ends abruptly- there isn’t a wrap up to their story, it just starts into the epilogue which is the lead in for book 4. I hope they wrap Elle and Kol up in Ann their book because their story stopped halfway through and was dissatisfying.
Very formulaic and obviously self-published or went straight from the writer's desk to Kindle Unlimited. For nearly a whole chapter, the female protagonist is referred to by a completely different name (probably copied and pasted from the previous story's female protagonist). Nothing unique or interesting which is a shame and a waste of a time-travel concept.
This felt like a first draft. There’s some punctuation errors and the main character is referenced by the wrong name at least 3 times. I did enjoy the characters but the ending felt cut off and incomplete.
This one could have had my standard 3 stars for this series but there is a whole page where the wrong character's name is used. It is still an interesting series that likely won't go in my read again pile. This one was just irritating for such a short novella to have the wrong name!
Other than some areas where the wrong names were said…just love how the stories build on each other! It’s predictable but still find myself rooting for the couple to find their way to each other.
3.5⭐️ rounded up… this story is less fun that the last 2 but only because doc Elle and Kol take a scientific approach to trying to figure out why the wind has gone…
his is my least favorite so far, in terms of romance. There's too much left hanging.
Elle and Kol begin their story and it just gives way to another without giving answers.
Elle, like her predacessors, clearly wants to stay. Since she is directly tied to Living Past she has to be a bit more diplomatic and deceptive.
As for the 'calm' portion of the prophecy, is Elle really the calm? Did Kol really find the answers he's looking for? We may never know. Like I said, it's all a bit vague.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars I enjoyed this one overall, but the author using the wrong character’s name for almost an entire chapter was definitely distracting and kind of annoying lol. Character-wise, I liked Elle more than Kennedy. Elle felt smarter and more independent while still being clearly in love, which made her easier to root for. My biggest takeaway with this series is that I really wish all these books were just one larger book instead of being split up. I think the story would feel even stronger that way.
I enjoyed this book much more than the previous two. The author did a great job. It held my attention and I like that there was more of a build up between Elle and Kol.
Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend them if you are in a reading slump.
