All Cat wants out of her life is her dream job, her dream man, and her favorite coffee. She could settle for one out of three, right?
Self-diagnosed coffee addict Cat Coleman believes her hard work as an unpaid intern for an entire year at a highly reputable interior design firm pays off when she excitedly accepts a full-time position with the company. However, instead of shadowing veteran designers, she’s still sorting and delivering mail and making coffee runs. She simply went from unpaid intern to being the boss’ personal assistant.
When a very grown-up and seriously sexy David Greenlaw from her Minnesota hometown begins an internship in the same business building, Cat tries to resist his boyish charms and flirty smiles. Because she knows his deceptively evil older sister, Gail, who made Cat’s high school years a living nightmare, would happily pick up where she left off and tear down the new life she built.
Cat desperately wants to trust her heart and David’s promises, but she distrusts Gail and her fake sweet smiles even more. When David’s loyalty is tested, should Cat trust him to make the right decision or should she sacrifice her own happiness to ensure his?
Chessa Andersen smiles any time her friends call her “a genius,” “brilliant,” “an angel,” and her all-time favorite, “a wizard.” When she isn’t arguing with her husband about being a wizard, she begrudgingly mows the huge lawn on hot summer days in Iowa and loves listening to drops of rain hit the skylight above her desk.
She believes sleep cures everything, the bitcoin system is way more complicated than it needs to be, and laughter really is the best medicine. She is obsessed with blended coffee drinks, games on her tablet, and sparkly nail polish.

Where do I start? I’m such a fan of cute, light romances that leave me feeling good afterward. It’s so hard to find sometimes, but everything about this read was perfect. From the characters, the backstory, and obviously, the love.
This amazing love story follows Cat, who escaped her childhood tormentor, Gail, and just wants to excel/grow within her company. She soon learns it’s not as easy as she thought it was.
The coffee enthusiast that she is(which I fully support) rekindles with David, who’s sister stops them from being together. She’s not just any mean girl, Gail, she’s the kind that makes you want to rip her from the pages, and throw her away. At least, that’s what I wanted to do. How did Andersen make such a crappy character? The beauty of it was that she did, and she made me hate her. Hate her words. Her outlook. And how she treats people. She ruined Cat, and you often see glimpses of the past, which I loved.
I often find it hard to love both main characters in novels. It’s either one or the other, and nine times of ten, it’s always the heroine. But somehow, Chessa Andersen made me fall in love with both of her characters. Gosh. Mr. David Greenlaw is definitely book boyfriend material. No doubt about it.
And Paige? You know how you always have a crap boss, and her character is looked at as a b!tch? Well, I LOVEDDDDD HER. Like I loved that addition, adding a chapter for Paige because…..love. Do we get a book for her? I sure hope so.
Andersen not only writes beautifully, but she paints such a perfect picture, resulting in such a swoon-worthy romance. I enjoyed Cat & David’s love story, and I can’t wait for more from this author.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a light romance read that will leave you smiling! I mean, who named their cats Johnny & Baby. The author had me at that.
This is a stunning debut by Andersen, and I definitely think everyone who likes short, sweet, and steamy novellas should give this one a whirl!
We follow Cat Coleman and David Greenlaw as they reconnect over coffee (Cat’s obsession). They come from the same hometown and knew each other in High School. But now, David is no longer the teenage boy she remembers. He’s an entirely-too-enticing grown man. It begins as a friendship, made unsteady by the obvious mutual attraction. It seems like a simple enough love story until David’s sister enters the picture. Once a bully, always a bully – and it seems that even after all these years, Gail still has a soft spot for torturing Cat. The question becomes whether they’re strong enough to endure her torments – or if Dave is even open to seeing it.
I opened this novella on a lunch break and inhaled it. To be honest, I continued reading it on the clock (please don’t tell anyone). I absolutely adored this story. From beginning to end. The characters were well-written, the dialogue felt natural and free-flowing. Further, their romance felt practical. Approachable. I enjoyed getting to know Cat and Dave (and rooting for them). Andersen wrote characters who came right off the page. I found myself seething at Gail (honestly, I probably misplaced a lot of childhood trauma in the pages of this story), and was desperately rooting for her snooty-little-demon-spawn self to suffer a comeuppance of her own.
It’s always wonderful to see new authors take the plunge into publishing. It’s refreshing to hear unique, and new voices. Chessa is one of those writers for me. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us! I can’t wait to read more of her work!
Good romance books have many elements, but at least one dynamite sex scene is essential. Romance fans might be serious about getting their “happily ever after,” but we also need physical and emotional connection, built-up sexual tension, and explosive climaxes. “I want all of my literary orgasms to be over the top, mind-blowingly transformative,” Ellie Mae MacGregor, a romance book reviewer, tells SELF. “I’m not here for ‘and then she came, the end’ sex.” Then again, too many romances suffer from purple prose, that feeling that “you don’t even understand whether they’re coming or not before it’s over,” Martine R., a reviewer known as The Romance Loving Librarian, tells SELF. At this point, the Fifty Shades of Grey are starting to feel a wee bit tired. Sorry, not sorry Christian Grey. For those looking to update their shelves with one-handed reads that hit all the erogenous zones. Don’t worry guys I have got It for you. I have got to introduce you all to this book I recently read. The book I am talking about is called “Bittersweet Confessions”. Here’s why you should read this book. I usually start with the title and the cover of the book majorly because it's the most exposed part of the book to the viewer’s eye. May be not to all but the readers do notice the appearance of the book which sets the vibe before reading. When it comes to “Bittersweet Confessions” it has that spicy feature to its cover and the title. I was attracted by the cover and the title of the book while the mind I made was mainly due to the description of the book. The description of the book tells about the story which bridged the gap between wanting to read and actually reading the book. Talking about the inner part which is the content and the story line of the book. The thing about romance which interests the readers is the feelings it expresses. The translation of the words to feelings is the part which is most important while writing romance and I would say for this book it has been taken special care of. The secret of a successful romance book is the details. The more detailed description it gives the more it makes the reader hook to it and that's the time book possesses the reader. It was just same for me I was so hooked to it that I wasn't willing to leave it and the experience was enhanced when I read it at night before going to bed. I just loved the experience. Although the storyline of the book is just as normal but the flow while reading it was smooth and for that I would say the credit goes to the editing. The story features characters like Cat and David. By the physical description both of them are perfect. Well there is a point that I would like to highlight and if you are a romance reader you would relate to it that is every book that has been written in this genre, most of them portray both the male female characters as ideals and that is something that creates a gap between reality. After reading this one you would not feel like this I can definitely say for this. As mentioned earlier the story line was short and simple, honestly I like it that way. Overall I loved the book and I would definitely want you guys to read it. This is definitely a thumbs up from my side. At last I would like to thank the author for giving me such an experience through the book. So what are you guys waiting for go grab your copy fast.
Before we start, a few questions: Do you take any opportunity to re-watch Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan rom-coms from the '90s, because they never get old to you? Have you been anxiously waiting for Netflix to continue its string of contemporary rom-coms? Do you love love? If you answered yes to any of the above, then we have good news. While romantic comedy movies eventually run out, there are practically limitless romantic comedy books. Just as the rom-com is seeing a resurgence on screen, it's also becoming more popular in print. One of such steamy romantic book is what I read recently and I am in love with that book. The book is called “Bittersweet Confessions” The book was a great deal on Instagram. I saw a lot of people posting about the book which made me really curious to read the book. The book was hyped and trust me I had a lot of expectations when I sat to read the book. The book didn’t disappoint in any way. The story being short simple and cute made it to my heart. The only thing I would say is that I didn’t want it to end. For me if it would have been a 300 page novel I would have loved it because the way book is described it just touched. This is something I would say a great achievement for the author that her book is making to the readers heart. This was what I felt now telling you about the story a bit, Cat Coleman and David Greenlaw rekindle their friendship over coffee (Cat's addiction). They both grew up in the same town and went to the same high school. David, though, is no longer the adolescent she recalls. He's an all-too-appealing adult guy. It starts off as a friendship, but the evident mutual interest shakes things up. Until David's sister enters the scene, it appears to be a simple enough love tale. Once a bully, always a bully – and it appears that Gail still has a sweet spot for punishing Cat after all these years. The question is whether they'll be able to stand up to her tortures. f you're looking for something cute to read, this book should definitely be your choice. Look forward to Chessa's work bcoz she's an angel. Love and support to you.
Bittersweet Confessions By – Chessa Andersen Format – Kindle Edition Print Length – 147 Pages Genre – Fiction My Ratings – 4.8/5 Starting with the title of the book, I believe it is particularly insightful. The Book Cover, on the other hand, is really inviting. Characters were well formed, strong, and impacting. The tale is highly differently written and portrayed by the Author, which has held my interest throughout the time of reading. Cat Coleman is the protagonist of the narrative, and all she wanted was a perfect existence with a dream job and an ideal boyfriend. However, it is uncommon for someone to achieve all they desire. Cat earned a job as the boss' personal assistant after working as an unpaid intern for a year. Now comes David Greenlaw, who started as an intern in the same corporate building. Cat and David knew each other because they grew up in the same town and attended the same high school. They met over coffee, and Cat noticed that David was no longer the youngster she remembered from high school, and that now that he had matured into an attractive man, they were both attracted to each other, and it appeared to be a cute love tale unless David's sister Gail entered the picture. Gail was a bully at school and used to tease Cat a lot. Cat remembers everything, and a bully is a bully forever, as Gail has to torture Cat even now. Cat urgently wants to believe in her heart and David's promises, but she has even more doubts about Gail and her phoney lovely smiles. Now, where is the story going to end up, and what will happen between the two? Will Gail's presence have an effect on the two's relationship? To learn more about the plot, read the book. Overall, it was a fantastic read, and the narration style was really smooth and convincing, so understanding the plot was not a problem. Cat was our protagonist, but I really enjoyed the way Andersen portrayed Gail, as though one would despise her if they read it from Andersen's point of view. I strongly suggest that each of you obtain a copy of it. Happy Reading
I’ve recently added this book named “Bittersweet Confessions” by the author Chessa Andersen to my shelf and after reading it I’m glad that I’ve it. The cover of the book is so beautiful and eye catching that you’ll want to see it again and again. The title says it all bittersweet that means ‘sweet with bitter aftertaste’ that means that the story has ot all. Cat Coleman and David Greenlaw rekindle their friendship over coffee. They are from the same town and went to high school together. David, though, is no longer the adolescent she remembers. He's an all-too-attractive adult man. It starts off as a friendship, but the evident mutual interest shakes things up. Until David's sister enters the picture, it appears to be a simple enough love story. It starts off as a friendship, but the evident mutual interest shakes things up. Until David's sister enters the picture, it appears to be a simple enough love story. Once a bully, always a bully – and it appears that Gail still has a sweet spot for punishing Cat after all these years. The question is whether they'll be able to stand up to her tortures - or if Dave will even see it. The characters were well-developed, and the dialogue flowed naturally. I particularly liked Cat's character and found her to be very relatable, especially in light of her past difficulties. Bittersweet Confessions is a work of art by Chessa, and I'm excited to see how her characters develop in future books. This is the debut book by the author, and I strongly recommend it to everyone who enjoys short, sweet, and hot novels.
I just finished this fantastic story and became completely immersed in Cat and David's lives. The story flowed so well, and it was great to see other characters' points of view as the story progressed. I particularly liked Cat's character and found her to be very relatable, especially in light of her past difficulties. Cat is a strong independent woman who works for an interior design firm and strives to achieve her goals, but she has her own past that she has fled. I admire her ability to remain focused on her work and passion in the face of adversity. I relate to her in more ways than I can count. I'll ruin everything if I start listing. David is two years Cat's junior. He's one of those lucky boys who gets to see his crush even after moving to another city. It's actually quite magical. One thing I admire about David is that his feelings for Cat haven't changed over the years, but I find him naive at times, giving certain people chances over others. David's sister, Gail, is practically the devil in this story. I won't say much, but I'm sure you'll despise her as much as I do. She had so much talent that she could have turned her life around, but she chose to throw it all away just to make people laugh. That's revolting. Bittersweet Confessions is a work of art by Chessa, and I'm excited to see how her characters develop in future books. I’m strongly recommending this to everyone.
Bittersweet confessions by Chessa Andersen is an exceptional, exciting, page-turning story. The theme is a well-known one of romance and drama but written in one of the most exciting ways ever.
This is the story of Cat Coleman, she is a hard-working girl working as an intern in a reputed interior design company. Cat life took an unexpected turn when a charming boy, David Greenlaw joins the internship in the same business building. David was two years younger than the cat and she knew him from school. Cat has strong feelings for David but she was afraid from David’s sister, Gail. Gail becomes the biggest obstacle between them.
Chessa Andersen is a master storyteller, The descriptions are breathtaking and so realistic. The narrative is transporting, the pace of the story is fast, and the characters are lovable. The cover of the book is eye-catching and attracts the readers.
Overall, this book has a good storyline, it's enjoyable, entertaining, and easy to follow. This book will appeal to all those die-hard romantics out there. I would recommend it to all and am looking forward to reading more books by Chessa Andersen.
This novella was a really quick fun read for me. I loved the romance between Cat & David and the way they see each other for the first time in the coffee shop was great. I loved how they had a bit of history from long ago and that there was a happily ever after for both of them. I could relate to the tormenter/bully story because I too was bullied in school and I was very glad Gail got the Karma she deserved. I look forward to reading Andersen's sequel to the story. I'm hoping the sequel has more of the backstory of Cat's fierce boss Paige and a happily ever after for her too.
“A book and a cup of coffee was all I needed to recharge myself for the rest of the day”
Catherine Coleman was a coffee addict and an unpaid intern. She was working in a prestigious interior design firm until David Greenlaw shown up, she felt something for him and she couldn’t deny the connection and spark she felt. But something was holding her back, perhaps the fear in her mind that her evil older sister will turn her dream into nightmare again so she was unable to trust David and was oblivion to destiny. Will destiny bring them together? Will Cat’s evil sister again invade in her life? Will David pass the loyalty test?
It’s a feel good book and it has some of the most interesting and intellectual conversations between the characters. I loved the conversations they had and how author portrayed each and every character. Read the book further to unlock the bittersweet confessions.
I could not put this book down and read it in under two days!! The sweet romance between Cat and David is what we all want in our lives, and the sexual tension radiating through the scenes made me squirm every second. The book is all about love, life, past traumas, and trusting in your happiness. It's about believing you deserve the best and knowing that true love will stick by your side no matter what!
This book was so damn cute! I absolutely loved how each character was perfectly written and their actions justified it.
Cat is a strong independent woman working for an interior designing company, working hard towards her goal, but she has her own past she ran away from. Not letting any negativity get to her, I admire how she's focused on her work and passion. I relate to her in many ways that I can even list. If I start listing, I'll be spoiling everything.
David is two years younger than Cat. He's one of those lucky boys who gets to meet his crush even when he moved city. It's sort of magical actually. The one thing I love about David is how even after years, his feelings for Cat haven't changed a bit but sometimes I find this poor guy naïve, giving certain people chances over and over again.
Gail, David's sister is practically the devil of this story. I won't be saying much but I'm certain you'll hate her as much as I do. With so much talent in her, she could've turned her life around but she decided to throw it all away just to get some fun out of people. That's disgusting.
The only thing keeping Cat from David was Gail. But the reassurances David gives and the trust they have in each other make my heart hurt, bcoz I'm single as hell.
Even the side characters will leave a mark on you. They're that amazing. There are not too many heavy scenes in the book, but even with the limited amount, you'll be craving more. Chessa did an awesome job.
If you're looking for something cute to read, this book should definitely be your choice. Look forward to Chessa's work bcoz she's an angel. Love and support to you girl.
Thanks for listening to my sob stories and giving me strength when I was about to give up.
You're a gem. AND I AM KEEPING YOU!! It's me Chessa, if you haven't figured out who.
Since I didn’t get chance to read it; because it was a lot going on with my life, reading other books, so I decided to read because Chessa and Olivia tells me to read it so I finally got a chance to read it; honestly I love that book. But I hate, I mean… I HATE Gail, because she is really mean and rude to Cat, but I’m applauding that David screamed at Gail and pretty much disowned her, which I’m so happy! Because he doesn’t need Gail at all. But I’m glad that David and Cat would get a chance to be together without Gail being involved in their relationship…
Chessa, do me favor, write other book so I can read more! And I love it a lot!
I think it's an awesome book because I wrote it. Is it the greatest book? Of course not. But if you like sarcasm, short stories, and badass b!tches then you might like this book. But if you do read it and enjoy it, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazons, if you don't mind. If you read it and don't enjoy it, you can still write a review if you want. I really can't stop you. :)
There’s something about small-town romances that always appeals to me. But ironically, it’s one of my least-read genres. That’s why it was a pleasure reading Chessa Anderson’s Bittersweet Confessions as I finally reconnected with the genre with a superbly written story. It has excellent character development and great plotting that shows exactly what the characters have experienced, what their motivations are, and how they ended up where they are right now. The small town environment provides a quaint and lovely backdrop which helps the readers instantly connect with the characters, especially the Cat as her unlikely romance with David blossoms over the pages.
Even within a contained environment, i.e. a small-town romance with characters who know each other from high school all the way to adulthood, the story has several layers that add more complexity to their relationship, particularly the negative past history between Cat and her nemesis. It’s also interesting to read how Cat deals with her own insecurities such as her strained relationship with her family which is explored into just enough detail that makes her all the more relatable. As a person living in Southeast Asia, I still find it odd that parents everywhere, even in enlightened regions, demand conformity from their children.
All in all, Bittersweet Confessions is a delightful, breezy, and engaging read, considering how anxious I was for Cat and David to have their happily ever after. Its brilliant writing and meticulous editing make it even more fun to read, and the coffee-themed chapter titles tempt you for a coffee run every time.
(Note: I received this book as a special gift from the author during the 5-Star Reads September Book Tour 2022)
I was lucky enough to get Bittersweet Confessions from Hawthorn and Aster's Holiday Giveaway in December! And let me tell you, it has the spice, the sweetness, and the DRAMA!
It is a Novella about a coffee enthusiast trying to make her way in a tough Interior Design business, they is thrown For a loop when a childhood acquaintance comes back into her life. He is hot, and playful, and Cat cannot keep her hands, or eyes off of him.
Overall it is a perfect Novella if you like familial drama, all the selections of coffee and a lol bit of spice!
This book had so much potential to be a cute love story. But the excessive repeats of fmc being constantly horny or back and forth whether she should do something or not got really boring and annoying
