Ezra Booth couldn’t handle much more. Watching his family die from cholera was more than he could bear, haunting his worst nightmares. To think he was now responsible for another life was almost too much until his bride claimed that she wanted nothing to do with him. Having another presence around could at least keep him from feeling so lost and alone during Christmastime... wouldn’t it?
Elizabeth Barren jumped at the chance to run away from everything she once knew. She never expected to be a widow, nor to live up to her surname. She’d always wanted children, and it tore at her soul to realize she would never be a mother.
When her new husband shuns her, putting her in another room and hiding away, she takes that time to discover just who she wants to be. Not only does she need to move past her own hurdles and fears, but so does Ezra and the rest of this new town.
Maybe a little love, a little magic, and a little patience, could bring the best gift she could ever ask for—a sense of peace and her husband’s heart.
*** A sweet and clean romance Mail-Order Bride series that can be read together or individually with a Happily Ever After that is legendary...
Ginny Sterling is an avid romance writer. She lives to tell sweet, inspirational, tender tales that tug at the heart, leaving the reader smiling, laughing, or crying. Her book series include many titles such as FLYBOYS, Healing Hearts, Flirt’s Battalion, Reserve Ranch, Hotshots, and more.
Each book written is sure to be an adventure, bringing laughter and love to your heart!
A simple but very sweet mail order bride novella between two grieving souls who help each other find healing & purpose - and love - by looking outward to help others in need.
At first they're just strangers reluctantly living parallel lives, & then they awkwardly stumble into friendship which gradually becomes more.
The relationship develops over months which makes it more credible. The dialogue is a little stiff & a bit talkier than is natural, but they're both supposed to be educated as well as uncomfortable with each other, so the formality of it works for the most part.
I was looking for a quick, happy read with a Christmas theme, so this fit the bill nicely for my quiet Christmas Eve!
*Romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic; does include some discreet talk about infertility & the marriage bed, but nothing at a level that would keep me from letting my teen read it
A delightful book! I have loved this series and will miss it now that this is the last book. Each story shows how both main characters are in a desperate or sad situation and don't really want to be married but do it for certain circumstances. It always starts as an "in name only" situation but after getting to know each other, love develops. In this story, Ezra lost his entire family due to cholera. It was a gut-wrenching experience, and he will never get married again. Katherine lost her beloved husband, then suddenly his lecherous brother demands she marry him! She escapes and finds herself a mail-order bride since she has nowhere to live. She and Ezra come to terms with "co-existing". I could feel the sadness and loneliness of both of them. How they come together is such a great holiday read! I would definitely recommend it! Read all the books in the series! They are great!
This is the last story of this series. It is a sweet and loving Mail Order Bride tale. Ezra is a despondent widower that has lost his wife and two children to the epidemic of cholera that has struck their small town.Elizabeth is a young widow that has lost her husband to an accident and they had no children. Grieving and loosing everything to her evil unscrupulous brother-in-law causes her to answer a mail order bride advertisement. Marriage is the last thing these two grieving people want, but is seems to be the most reasonable for both of them. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Having a spouse die, leaves her in a situation that means she can keep her home and marry her brother in law or lose everything. Her choice is to leave. As a MOB she needs a roof over her head but isn't really ready for the true commitment. He is still grieving himself but goes thru with the ceremony. Separate, quiet, people living in a house but not really talking or spending time with each other. Will they ever find a common thread, a way to communicate or possibly romance?
I could feel the pain and lost that both Ezra and Elizabeth were feeling and I wanted to cry but I knew that one way or another they would find each other through all of their pain. I really enjoy the way Ginny Sterling writes because she pulls you into the story and has you feeling what the characters feel and that is such an amazing feat for an author and that is why I truly enjoy reading her books. I received this book as an ARC for an honest and unbiased review.
