Serena Baker is just an ordinary woman living an ordinary life. She works as a medical resident, has a little house of her own and a close group of friends. The closest thing she has to a man in her life is the portrait that hangs on her bedroom wall that she talks to when she's on her own.
Or at least that's how things used to be, until a chance meeting at a nightclub brings her into contact with Brax Evans, a handsome stranger who just happens to be a werewolf.
No man has ever gone to such lengths to impress her. He swears they're meant to be together, but she didn't even know that werewolves exist. Can she really trust him? And will she ever fit in with his world?
If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.
Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.
I love shifter books and when I got the chance to read this I took it. We start off with Brax, the Alpha, who is shocked to find his mate in a nightclub. Why the shock? His mate is a human, which in this universe is a pretty rare pairing.
Now about Serena. She's a doctor, is a bit insecure and has no idea what to do about the gorgeous man who is so very presistant to get to know her. Nor does she understand why the mere thought of him makes her ache for him. I'm not going into the plot, you really need to check it out for yourself and I don't want to spoil anything.
So why 4 stars and not 5? I liked the characters and the build up of the plot. That said certain storylines/characters dropped away when I feel they still had a part to play. Also I would have liked to get to know Serena better, what we truly know about her is pretty little in comparison to Brax.
That said I'm definitely looking forward to reading more....especially after the spooky ending.
Brax is an alpha wolf shifter. He finds his human mate at a club for his betas birthday. Serena is a hardworking human nurse with her own set of issues. Their first date goes wonderfully except for one interruption that sets off an unfortunate series of events. Can this couple survive the craziness that is their life?
This book is from a dual perspective giving the reader a look into Brandon’s and Serena’s thoughts. I really like that the author made Serena human with issues. She didn’t just hint at the problems. They actually came into play. I also loved that Brax had a past. It was wonderfully refreshing to read about a character who had a history that wasn’t all roses. This book was fantastic, and it did end on a cliffhanger. Yes, the ending was strange, but I’m intrigued to read more in this series.
I really enjoyed reading this story. I could not put the book down. Serena is human, but mated as a second chance mate to the Alpha, Braxton. This is their story on how they work through issues and come together. within this storyline there are a few other mysteries within, this is freaking awesome with wondering what's going on or what's going to happen. The emotional aspect from beginning to end is incredible. highly recommended to read, but does have some more mature scenes.
This is almost like a perfect intro-to-werewolves book since Serena knows nothing about the species and Brax has to explain it all to her. He's an Alpha, but a very sweet one, and the attraction between them is more than just the mate bond: he feels safe with her and vice versa. I liked their semi-awkward first date and her being unable to be marked was a plot point I haven't come across in the genre before. Overall a solid shifter romance.
I loved this book! I am a fan of Melody Tyden’s writing and just like all the rest, this does not disappoint. I love how the story grows and how the growth of the characters was great. It’s a modern day fairytale. You definitely will not be disappointed! It was left with a great cliff hanger making book two feel like Christmas!
I absolutely adore Serena and Brax! I enjoyed every second of their story! I couldn’t put it down, almost burned dinner LOL Cannot wait to start on book 2. Melody never disappoints! I love all her work! ❤️
I loved this story! It’s nice to have two completely different lead characters that have the blend theirs lives, The characters are made for each other! I’m looking forward to the other books in the series!
I really enjoyed this book! I love the relationship between the characters, how she bows they belong together! and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
I think the story itself could be amazing, but I personally don't find the characters' behaviours realistic enough for adults. She's a 27 year-old doctor, he's a 25 year-old alpha, I think she behaves like a 17 year-old with a death wish and as a 32 year-old myself I find it cringey. I do understand it's completely subjective and I'm sure readers who love YA stories will love it because even I might push myself beyond that to see how the story unfolds, though.
I love a good shifter romance novel and this was exactly that up until a certain point. I think for me it's hard to enjoy a book when the MC makes decisions and choices that I couldn't see myself making in real life (like forgiving someone super easily) and that's the main issue I had with it.
In the beginning the MC was super headstrong and it morphed into her being extremely empathetic towards the end. 3.5 stars
If you're a fan of fantasy, shapeshifters, and steamy paranormal romance , "The Alpha's Second Chance" is a must-read! This captivating story follows Serena Baker, an ordinary woman whose life takes an extraordinary turn when she meets Brax Evans, a mysterious and irresistibly handsome werewolf. The chemistry between them is electric, and the tension of Serena navigating a world she never knew existed keeps you hooked from start to finish.
The themes of love, trust, and self-discovery are beautifully woven into a world of wolves, pack dynamics, and supernatural intrigue. As an adult romance, it strikes the perfect balance between passion and plot, making it a standout in the genre.
I read this on GoodNovel, and the platform’s exclusive selection of similar fantasy and paranormal romance novels is fantastic. The reading experience is smooth, and the app makes it easy to dive into these addictive stories. If you love werewolves, romance, and a touch of the extraordinary, don’t miss this one!
Mom, dad... I am sorry I never got over my werewolf addiction 😔
I finally listened to myself and got myself an actual book that was coherent instead of one of those never-ending instagram stories. This story was very soft and felt like an introduction to the "omegaverse" since Serena is human and knows nothing. It gave a very delicate twist to the story that is usually not there in these kinds of books. Braxton was also uncharacteristic for a main lead in this genre, and Serena is full of "flaws" for this world. All of it created a balance I didn't know I wanted before, it was almost a light-romance-meets-omegaverse book. Not to mention, there's this thing called *healthy communication* in this story and, as a result, there never was misunderstandings for long. How refreshing. Truly a short and smooth read.
Brax is the Alpha and he goes to a club for the birthday of his best friend and beta. Serena is a human and a Dr. She's at the club with her friends. Brax of course can sense Serena as his mate . I loved this story. Brax was so sweet and wasn't 100 percent sure how to tell Serena about him being a wolf. He just knew he had to be with her. It was cute the things he would do to get close to her. She just knows she feels a need to be near him. We eventually find out he had a mate before. Once Serena moves to the packhouse with all her things her painting comes with her we don't get a lot of story about it but it's something she had to buy. I really enjoyed this!!!
This series starts off very quickly and we soon find Brax falling for Serena, but she’s not so quick to fall, being human has its difficulties when someone tells you they’re a werewolf, and then that you’re their mate. Good story and plot, and I enjoyed the characters. The love story is not always easy but very sweet, and although Brax and Serena have their challenges they both love each other. Some angst, some really sweet moments, the love scenes are steamy but not crude. Some dramatic scenes but overall a nice read which had me moving straight on the book 2.
I really enjoyed this. There was a certain predictability to it, but the ending was unexpected! Certainly I expected Percy to be relevant but this was way different to what I anticipated!
I loved Brax and Serena. There initial meeting was fun, especially the confidence/creepiness/awkwardness he acted with!
It was like reading a Wattpad book, and at first it was really weird seeing as I have put that app well behind me, but this book was really good. And I haven’t read a shifter book like this in so long and I missed it.
When the mated to a werewolf is a hemophiliac , what could go wolf? When you meet him him a night club and he follows you home, why would you meet him again? I enjoyed this book and will certainly finish the trilogy.
Wow this was just so so so good!!! I loved Brax and how he cared so much, the whole book just left me with a big smile on my face. Really enjoyed this!!!!
