I had an elder brother who was so crazy over the old Pacesetter series decades ago, especially Kalu Okpi's books, and Victor Thorpe. In those days, I was more interested in stories of romance, love and the like, and I wondered why my brother loved these books with lots of violence, death and what seemed like unnecessary cruelty. But I did read some of oOkpi 's books, including this one, and at least was impressed with the local colour. This book reads like one of the thrillers published overseas, and even a lot of the conversations. An action packed story, with standard fare: "You know as well as I (that the abducted person) will not be returned by us...". To be fair, taut, exciting stories typified Okpi's books.
