When Lorcan and I fail to dissolve the blood bond yet again (this time quite an embarrassing one), I’m at my wit’s end.
The last thing I need is my cantankerous cat delivering a wax-sealed letter that I’m worried might be from my mother. But once I open the letter, I realize it’s an invitation to a witch assembly sent from High Witch, Scarlett Velardi.
The only snag? In order to attend, I’ll need to form my own coven.
Forming my own coven aside, I quickly realize the only reason Scarlett’s invited me to this assembly is to allow me the chance to take on my mother, who has me on her hit list.
As I learn more about the situation between my mother and Scarlett, I soon realize there’s a truth even I don’t know—something so big and horrible, everyone who knows it has been bound by Mother never to speak a word of it.
Now, if there’s one thing Wanda Depraysie dislikes, it’s a secret I’m not in on. So, I’ll do everything in my power to unravel my mother’s mystery in the hopes that I’ll be able to bring her down.
J.R. Rain is the author of 110 novels and counting. He lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest, where he's hard at work on his next novel... and fighting off sparkly vampires.
This is the 16th book in the Haven Hollow series. It is a collaboration between HP Mallory and JR Rain. The book falls in the Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre.
I really enjoyed this book. It answered several questions and raised a few more.
Wanda’s life is stressful. She’s still a blood witch. She still has a seemingly unbreakable blood bond with Lorcan, which not only makes her a target for vampires and witches, who don’t want her kind to exist but which she also blames entirely for her increasing attraction to the very annoying Lorcan himself.
In the midst of all this, Wanda receives an invitation to the Witch Assembly, which she is expected to attend. The only snag is, she has to be head of her own coven in Haven Hollow; something she has been procrastinating wildly about forming.
Wanda is also made aware of a dark and terrible secret; one which is centuries old, involves her Mother and which, if revealed, could change the whole status quo. A secret which Wanda is determined to uncover.
Will the formation of a Haven Hollow coven finally allow Wanda to break her blood bond with Lorcan? Will she get to the bottom of this centuries old secret? Will she finally be free of her Mother’s manipulative reach?
You’ll have to read it to find out because I’m not giving anything away.

❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️❤️🔥❤️ LOVE ❤️ love this series. It’s entertaining and captivating. The world is too serious so escaping into an enjoyable book is just what I need. I just Wanda so much, so much spunk, emotional s and JUST LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH.. I do not want to give any spoilers… this is one book you definitely do not want to miss…
I love this whole series, can’t wait to read books 17 & 18 when they come out. The reread the whole series again…
Definitely recommend this book and their whole series, I love these two authors….
Wanda and the gang are back and this time it is to confront her mother but first they have to form a coven . And what a motely crew they are . Wanda must come to terms with her past and what is happening with her mother and what has happened to the warlocks in the past . So with the help of Poppy , Astrid and the rest of the gang are there to help fight . Will they be the winners in an a battle that might kill them all . Wanda and the gang are back and funnier then ever. Wanda is better and stronger then ever she is really coming into her own. She is one feisty witch . I love how Poppy has become a big part of the series and I love how they have entwined both stories . The characters are well written and complex and growing with each story . This is a fun fast read that will have you laughing, the authors have really built a strong group of characters that just continue to grow and become more and more complex . I truly love this series . I read this story in an evening and laughed my way through it . I can't wait to see where the authors take these characters even with the twist at the end . So if you want a great series and want a fun read check it out .
I can honestly say I didn't see most of this storyline coming to this point. There was actually a point in the book where I gasped and yelled "no". Now that I have finished it and my heart rate has calmed, I can't recommend it enough. I love Wanda. This series is one of my favorites because it brightens my day. It is fun and the characters become your friends quickly. This installment is definitely darker but also has decidedly heartwarming conclusion. As always, I look forward to my next visit to the hollow.
Wanda has been stewing over creating a coven for months, now her time is up. She had received an invitation to the Sub Rosa Assembly which was wonderful but it was only for covens. It’s time to figure out who would be included and get things done.
As exciting as the assembly was going to be there were some huge issues. Now that they were there, things were getting more mysterious by the minute.
Book 16 in the Haven Hollow series seemed a lot bigger than the previous installments... not that I'm complaining. I adore this series and all this amazing characters. There's so many spin offs that can happen from this motley crew and each would be just as enticing as the one before.
In Herringbone Hexes the readers are introduced to some new characters that bring some insane information.
It was interesting reading how Wanda formed her own coven and then took on her mother. It is interesting how the varied mix in her coven and how they stick together a d support each other. You will not be disappointed to read this book. I can't wait to read the next one in the series
I love the entire Haven Hollow series so far but this one has far surpassed the earlier ones. So many witch mysteries are solved in this book. Many I didn’t even realize were a mystery to solve. The entire series is available on KU and really needs to be read in order. At the very least read all Wanda’s Witchery and any focused on Wanda and Lorcan of the Haven Hollows.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was cute, fast-paced and I wanted to find out what would happen next. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 16 in the Haven Hollow series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by these authors.
I have enjoyed with this whole series. I’ve enjoyed watching the bond between Lorcan And Wanda develop….. As well as all the other characters in their lives. I liked the final outcome of this book. Looking forward to the next one
I’m glad she finally got the whole Wanda thing with Lorcan. It got old though I know it has to run long for the sake of the series. Great job and was runny and interesting at the same time. Looking forward to next book
What a fantastic read! I could not put this book down. Finally answers and revelations and just wow! Wanda finally confronts everything in her life and in a spectacular way! This entire Haven Hollow series never disappoints.
The writing between these two authors is beyond magical. The stories feel realistic in word and deed. The emotions were written in such a way that I felt empathetic towards the characters. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
Good book, excellent adventure, great mystery! The characters are amazing. Finally, the Vampire and the Witch got together. It took 17 books, but whose counting? Funny, laugh out loud and a good mix of not funny. Good book!
I was on the edge of my seat almost the whole time. And smiling a lot, too. There was one development that I particularly liked. Well written, as always, and I really liked it!
Thought the last 3 or 4 books were waiting to be written or published and I missed a month or two. Now moving forward abs finishing the group. Light fast reading. I feel like they are friends.
I just finished all 16 in order, and I loved the level of danger and intrigue! Lots of surprises with the covens and vamps facing off at the assembly. Love, friends, family ...Fun fun fun.
This was so intense. So, sitting on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding in your throat till the very end. Wow this is a great mystery story the kind you don't forget. You have to read this book it will blow you away.
