A vulnerable runaway. Four alien biker mates.

For as long as she can remember, Gem has been caged and exploited for her magic, but when a blackout swallows the empire, she makes her move and escapes her cruel emperor—right into the arms of a ruthless biker gang: dangerous Brand, psycho Hangman, adoring Prince, and a**hole Leviathan.

Claimed by the four men of the Stars Scourge motorcycle club, Gem can’t free herself without using her magic, revealing her whereabouts to the emperor. But life with the gang could be worse. Their manners are rough and they’re demanding with her body, but at least she’s free of the emperor as long as she keeps her magic quiet.

If these bikers keep her forever, she might be safe. But the emperor will stop at nothing to have her back.

Dark Stars is a science fiction alien romance with possessive biker men and a fierce, powerful heroine. If you like sci-fi with magic elements and a heavy dose of alien romance, you’ll love this book. This book is fast burn with moderate heat and multiple love interests. This is the first book in a duology.

A sci-fi RH romance if im honest would not be my first choice but Leigh Kelsey is one of my favourite writers and ive yet to read a book by her that i havent enjoyed. Dark Stars being was a pleasant surprise. Gem is one the run when she crashes (quite literally!!) into The Star Scourge MC - Brand, Prince, Hangman and Leviathan. A misfit band of outlaws but loyal to one another. The dynamic between Gem and the guys except Leviathan was steamy but also caring too. That ending was just knockout and i enjoyed reading this first book in this series. It was a great read

It seems like alien sci-fi books keep surprising. I don't read them too often, but this one had me intrigued. An alien MC? Sign me up.

The nice thing about this group of aliens that made up the MC was that they weren't of the same species. Brand, Prince, Hangman, and Leviathan made up their own ragtag bunch with each guy having unique physical traits (intimate moments included) and personalities. Despite being so different they were like family to one another, not clashing as you would think different species of aliens would when put together in the same group.

The fmc, Gem, is such a strong and resilient character. You'd think that marriage would have given her a happily ever after, but in her case, it just caused her physical and mental pain. When discovered that she had star-spine, an ability that allows her to produce power and enable and easy destruction of anything her power focused on when screaming, she was turned from wife to prisoner, forced to be used as a weapon and chained up until needed. She's been through so much and is still pushing herself forward so she can have a chance at freedom. It's incredible to see her remain so fierce and refusing to be caged ever again.

With the men all being different species, you see a variety of connections being established between them and Gem. With Prince and Gem you get the alpha/omega bond, the draw to one another, and the calmness that their presence can bring to the other. With Leviathan you have something similar to a fated mate bond even though he is openly against Gem remaining in their lives. I have a feeling he is going to be groveling quite a bit once he gets his head on straight. As for Hangman and Brand, the connections for them are more so based on their similar past experiences instead of something internal and instinctual pushing them towards Gem. Both men have common incidents that have shaped them into the men they are now, and Gem easily relates to those in a way that no one has before.

The cliffhanger of this book just makes me eager for more. I can't wait to see where the future takes Gem and her guys. I'm actually hoping that Gem utilizes her powers to their advantage against their enemies, especially against the "loving" husband who enslaved her as a living weapon all those years. Revenge sounds pretty nice right now.

Ok so I’m not normally a fan of space/alien/sci-fi books but I read this in one sitting it was so good! 😃
There are some dark elements to this, Gem was held captive and it makes reference to this but there are no explicit details. Sadly she was used as a weapon against her will and she has to come to terms with that!
Thankfully Gem escapes but ends up in the hands of the Stars Scourge MC, she makes it clear she will not be owned but they come to an agreement - again not normally a fan of the freaky D but wow there were some hot scenes 🥵
It’s clear though that actually feelings have become involved and Brand, Prince and Hangman would do anything to keep Gem safe 😍 but Leviathan on the other hand is determined to see her gone which leads to a calamitous cliffhanger!!
Can’t wait for the next in the duet to to see how they respond…

A great short and steamy read from Leigh Kelsey! I knew when I saw alien MC with fancy peen I was so here for it. I'm so ready for the second part of this story as I was wanting more! I dropped it to 4 stars because it's a smidge short IMO and I want more backstory, but it's well written and draws you in which is the sign of a good story.

We meet Gem as she's escaping from being a prisoner for 10 years. She doesn't really know how to drive a spaceship but she's not taking the chance to miss out on this opportunity to escape. When she lands on a planet she has a choice of fighting mercenaries or taking a chance on the back of a space motorcycle.

The FMC!
Gem has been through the wringer. Held prisoner by her husband for her powers for years. She was raised as a pampered princess but then thrown in such horrible conditions. It's very interesting to see her make her choices once she's free.

The Guys!
Brand, Prince, Hangman, and Leviathan - Prince is obs the fave out of this bunch with the resident psycho Hangman coming second. But it's an interesting dynamic with the MC. They all feel drawn to her, so I'm excited to see where this goes in book 2.

The Smut!
Fancy peens!!! This is a fast burn high heat story, so be prepared for some action! I love aliens and the description of their fancy equipment.

I couldn't get past 50% of this book. I have a hard time with books like this, and the thin or no line of consent for sexual encounters. The way they just told her she would be sleeping with them was disgusting. The way brand just took what he wanted without care. Its hard to see these men any different from the man that had already hurt her. There is a delicate balance to writing these kind of books, and this wasn't one of those. I 100% thought she should have just shredded them and anyone else who though to hurt her. Dnf

This book was a definite page turner. From the moment that I started I knew that I was in for something different. It moves along at a pace which is the perfect speed for the flow of this story. It has interesting and unique characters that you want to know more about and no matter what you want o see then achieve what they set out to do. This book needs to be read and you will not be sorry that you did.

What a disappointment!

The story is virtually non existent, weak and frankly predictable.

Characters are interesting but lacked depth or even any detail other than the basics.

Lots of sex which honestly was pretty boring and formulaic.

Seriously this was more like a synopsis or outline of a story.

Needs completely rewriting and DEPTH!!

POOR, very immature and amateurish writing style.

So so much potential but needs a lot of work sadly.

A quick read. It would have been rated higher if it wouldn't have ended in a cliffhanger and the author hadn't abandoned the sequel.

I really enjoyed this book. Alien MC is a new one for me and I loved every second of it. I usually stay away from cliffhangers but some books just suck you in and you don’t want to escape. Do yourself a favor and just read it. You won’t regret it.
