قال دانيال: you have a good taste وأنا أجبت: I know!
A mother's a mirror. She's salty and sweet. Your personal driver, your roof in the street.
A mother is a house is rhyming book for early learners. It has simple and nice enough rhyming. Illustrations are rich in color. But there is nudity in the book. I don't know if it's a normal thing in kids' books these days to have nudity but discretion is required here.
This book is told in rhyming text, about how a mother cares for her child. I did not like it because the illustrations contain adult nudity. It's very inappropriate.

A wonderful, special, cute, adorable book about motherhood seen through the eyes of a baby.
I read this book in Dutch but thought it would be best to write a review in English so more people can find out about this one. It was such a pretty book and I hope more people will read it!
In this book we see all about motherhood from pregnancy to birth to first steps and first solid food, from tiny bundle to walking and crawling around. Along with seeing the baby come to the world and see him grow up we see all his thoughts on motherhood (or well someone’s thoughts on it). It was enormously adorable to read about all the things that a mom does, like being a house from the title which is about the pregnancy and how her belly is a big cosy home, to being the top of the mountain when she is wrapped in a big blanket and the tiny little human is on top. And there are many sentences more that made me go AWWW, YAS, and so cute! I love how it was first all the closeness, being a home, a safe place, but then later it grows and changes in ways. That was just perfect.
I loved seeing the little one grow up, see the parents get more comfortable with their baby, see the mom go out and have some fun.
The illustrations are just perfect and I really enjoyed the style! It fitted with the sweet messages perfectly.
All in all, a book that sings praises about motherhood, and all well-deserved! Recommended!
I’m finishing the 2024 year with a 24-page book, A Mother is a House. It feels like the perfect conclusion of a year where I indeed was a house for my children.
This year, I was a house where everyone needed support, hugs, calming down, monitoring, and organizing.
My days were filled with helping older kids, and my nights were packed with managing the chaos of bedtime routines for little one.
Unlike the previous year, when my mom stepped in as my house and gave me the space to run and listen to audiobooks, this year brought double responsibilities.
Between two full-time jobs—none of which involved reading for myself— there was little time to accomplish personal challenges.
Btw, I think it’s fair to count the books we read to our kids at bedtime, as they’ve been a significant part of our evenings.
And so, A Mother is a House feels like the perfect way to summarize a year that reflects its meaning.

This touching picture book looks at a mother through the eyes of her baby. A mother is so many things, starting by being a house that the baby grows inside. Then a pouch where the baby is carried around town. She is a fountain of breast milk, a port in a crowded room, a mirror that reflects the baby, an island in the bath. She is protection from strangers, a doctor when needed, someone to play with or on top of. She is so many things, but most importantly she is home.
Petit has created a rhyming picture book just right for toddlers. The writing celebrates the role of a mother, showing all the various ways in which she protects, embraces, adores, and supports her baby. The book moves from the mother being pregnant all the way through to the baby becoming a toddler, clearly gaining skills and age as the pages turn. The writing is simple and never sing-songy. The art is modern and bright, using clean lines and a jaunty attitude. The images show a modern mother in an urban setting along with a father who is present and contributes his share.
A colorful celebration of baby and motherhood. Appropriate for ages 2-4.
I love this vibrant ode to motherhood! With simple, yet meaningful text, it lovingly highlights the many ways in which mothers provide for their children. I personally loved the page with “A mother’s a story” as reading books to my daughter is one of my favorite things to do with her. I’ll definitely cherish reading this one on Mother’s Day and throughout the year!
This one is more for the moms than the babes. Readers see mom through the baby's eyes. It captures everything she is. Lovely emotional book for new moms. Note: There is adult nudity in one illustration.
Beautiful book that exemplifies the role of a mother with metaphors. My only gripe is that one photo of mum in the nude. I am teaching my three year old not to barge in when I am changing or showering so she was confused why the mum in this book is hopping in the shower with the baby watching..
