Lotus Academy is fabled across the shifter lands for producing the most beautiful, graceful, perfect omegas. Taken in as children from the streets or bought from poor families, they don't have any rights. They owe a debt to the academy that only a rich alpha can repay - by bidding for a desirable omega, and eventually - hopefully - paying to Claim them as their own and lead them away to a cozy home to raise a family together.
No place for feelings, for romance.
And yet Kai feels something the first time he looks at the tall, powerful alpha in the dim light of a teahouse - and is floored when the alpha comes and introduces himself as Alexander of the famous Crown Clan, a rich heir and well-known alpha werewolf. Kai has never thought of himself as pretty or desirable in the least.
He's even more floored when Alexander bids for his First night.
And then is crushed when Alexander disappears once more from his life, having left him with a souvenir that the Lotus Academy isn't happy about. Babies are all good and nice once a Lotus omega has secured a Mate, but right now Kai is in trouble.
Will Alex come back for him in time?
* This is a 70,000-word mpreg shifter novel with humor and angst and misunderstandings and lots of steam leading to love and cute babies! Intended for adult readers.*
Oh, I enjoyed this story, with a very shy and vulnerable omega.
Kai was handed over to The Lotus academy, trained to be an obedient omega, to serve an alpha, and deliver children. At all costs, they have to stay virginal for a rich and generous paying alpha. If there ever be one.
Alexander, a rich heir, can’t take his eyes off the beautiful omega. He wants some fun and will conquer this omega. It’s a bit more complicated than that, the omega is everything, his feelings are all over the place. He tries to court Kai officially. Their first lovemaking isn’t without results, only Alex is suddenly off the radar and Kai is in deep trouble at the Academy.
The road to their happiness was a cobblestoned one. Alex has quite some troubles. I loved Kai and Alex together, they were hot and sexy. I loved the hurt comfort parts. Overall a lovely written story, clearly outlined, the area was well developed. There are a few secondary characters I love to see a story from.
Kai and Alex’s journey to their HEA wasn’t an easy one. These two had a strong bond and I enjoyed watching their bond grow deeper with every interaction they had.
An enjoyable story - looking forward to reading the next one.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
I liked that omega-mc had friends who supported him. in previous series (howl academy) omegas were loners in the beginning and only found friends after got together with their alphas. so it's positive improvement that Kai had Zach and Tate from the beginning and their bond strengthened over the course of story. Liked how alpha-mc became loving and devoted in the end. ( to be honest in first half I couldn't care less about him.) Liked that omegas in lotus academy learn weird shit in their classes. it was funny that they have lectures on how to do a blowjob and practice on dildos lol.
the sex was the same as in previous series and I got enough of it so just skipped that parts. I think I'd like those scenes more if I wasn't reading howl academy and lotus academy back to back.
I understand that author was trying to write some plot, some high stakes, drama BUT I don't understand why it was necessary to bring up heavy topics like abuse, sexual assault, slavery and do nothing with it. the story with alpha's uncle didn't go anywhere. Alex rescued Kai from being sold, but left there other 3 omegas. then done nothing about it aside from thinking "I will do something someday about it, but now I have family so kinda busy."
in third book from howl academy there also was alpha abused by relatives, but in that book we had his backstory, then his kidnapping and suffering brought the couple closer, then his abusers faced justice and as far as I remember alpha went to therapy to work through his trauma. in this book we only get to know that Alex was abused and his uncle is evil. but free. and Alex doesn't work through his feeling, only distracting himself with sex. I expected more healing on Alex's part.
I was really enjoying this but it fizzles out a bit near the end. There are a lot of plot points that aren’t wrapped up and you’re just left wondering. I suppose it may be addressed in the next book but since this was very specific to the one of the MCs and the other books are of different couples, I don’t see that happening. I wish some aspects that were brought up were developed more thoroughly. For example, the mention of the alpha’s pack. He’s supposed to be the heir and leader but there isn’t ever any mention of him actually leading in the future or anything about his pack mates. I was also a little confused as to what age our MCs were supposed to be. I assume the alpha was graduating college and the omega maybe high school? Or were they supposed to be the same age. Which really wouldn’t make sense because the omega mentioned being sold when he was young but he has only been there for six years.
A decent start to the series. This could have been better if things were better explore. This was a very fast paced book and page turner which made my rating go from a 3 to a 3.5. I love how supportive Kai and Alex friends were. I love in books where the friends go hard for each other and are like family.
The romance between Kai and Alex was insta love but I didn’t hate it, I think it added to the story and made the book better.
I’m excited to continue this series to see how it goes and what happens to Lotus Academy.
I love mpreg and omegaverse and Lotus One has to be one of my all-time favorite in this subgenre. It was well-written and has perfectly timed angst. It also has that old world culture in a modern world. This world building was original and unique and interesting to read. The characters, Alex and Kai, just gave me that sigh moment, actually many sigh moments.
I loved this book. I loved the storyline. I loved the MC's and their friends. The world building was great. My only unhappiness is the ending. Alex didn't officially mate Kai yet and they hadn't named the babies yet either. Without those two things it seemed like it wasn't quite complete.
Of all the omega and alpha stories that I've read this is the first one that mentioned a school for omegas. It was interesting but was a little out of the realm of things. It was still a good story to read.
I loved every word! It is everything I wanted it to be. They are both so sweet and stubborn. I can’t wait to read the next. All of their friends need happiness too.
This was such a sweet and tender story. Kai is a very shy omega and Alex is a very powerful Alpha. Both are young adults and when they meet sparks fly instantly. It appears to be more than mere attraction as neither one can keep their minds off each other. As they navigate getting to know one another, there are obstacles in their way. Some just based on their circumstances and others deliberately set in motion. Both Kai and Alex have suffered horrible pasts and it was absolutely beautiful seeing them fall in love. I can't wait for everyone else's story.
