Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.
She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter: http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your efforts.
«Sei stato coccolato per tutta la vita. Sei fortunato e dotato.
Absolutely loved this book. The Barnes family holds a special place in my heart. Tess Thompson truly created something so amazing when she created Emerson Pass. This family goes through so much, but as a unit they are unstoppable. The love they have for each other pours off the pages. Whether they make mistakes in their workplace or love lives, each sibling comes together to support each other. Christmas is in the air at Emerson Pass, and for one member of the family, he has to overcome past mistakes and get forgiveness from the one he loves the most. Readers will surely fall for this town and the family that started it all.
The Seven Days of Christmas is a wonderful, heartwarming story of family, second chances, and new beginnings. I love all of the books in this series, and this novella ties a few stories up in a lovely package.
What a wonderful story about love and forgiveness! Flynn Barnes has made a reckless decision to prove he can make it on his own without always depending on his father’s wealth. Shannon, his wife, feels betrayed by his secret and doesn’t know if she can ever forgive him. Flynn with the love and support of his siblings encouraging him to open his heart and show Shannon how much he truly loves her. The Barnes family all comes together to celebrate the wedding of Cym and Viktor. This story of family and love is a joyful Christmas read!
I received this book as an ARC from the author. This review is my own opinion.
This joyful story is a gift to readers! The Barnes family truly has a place in my heart. In this novella, Flynn Barnes has a lot to make up to his family, especially his wife. As Flynn learns how to win back his wife’s heart he also shares some of his motivations with his family. I love how the Barnes’ siblings pull together to problem solve, and are on each other’s side no matter what. A tender tale about love, forgiveness and family. A must read.
With Christmas only 7 days away So much to be done. Flynn Barnes is still making up for his past mistake. Not telling his wife or family. Of the deal that was going on almost cost him his life and marriage.
Shannon, not happy with Flynn Her husband. But being a Barnes he a good man. Never would hurt a soul intentionally.
Will Shannon and Flynn Be able to patch up there life. In Emerson pass..
This is one story you won't want to miss if your a Emerson Fan. Theses Historical books of Tess Thompson.. are wonderful books. Another Series of hers . I just can't get enough of.

Assolutamente consigliato.
I've thoroughly enjoyed watching all the Barnes siblings grow up throughout this series, though I missed reading more about Flynn and Shannon's romance as their story was included as a side story in the previous two books. Now, with this delightful and heartfelt novella, we get these two front and center and I was thrilled to read about them.
Flynn made a few dangerous decisions in The Problem Child, which left him both physically wounded and on the outs with his sweet but disappointed wife. Here, we see the steps he had to take to find his own inner healing before he could work on reconciling with his wife.
I loved the gentle journey these two took, and I really appreciated the way his family stepped up to help them find their way. The author always brings such warmth and depth to her characters, and I just loved seeing Flynn and Shannon develop the strength and maturity in their marriage that they didn't even realize they were missing. It's a beautiful story, one you don't want to miss. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Just to be clear this is a novella. It only takes a little over an hour to read. It is the most recent edition to the Emerson Pass series. Now, having said that, I made the story last a lot longer than 1 hour. Simply because I knew I would have to wait until sometime in 2022 for the next edition of the Emerson Pass series, The Musician. The Seven Days of Christmas is the continuation, actually conclusion to The Problem Child. Flynn and Shannon try to work out their problems as the family prepares for symbols wedding. The story is filled with a beautiful description of the holiday season with the Barnes family. But more than that. Tess Thompson has managed to delve deeper into the feelings and emotions of this wonderful family. Like I said, even though it's a short read, somehow even that little bit of a glimpse into the life of Emerson Pass is well worth the price of paying for a novella.
The Seven Days of Christmas is a novella book in the Emerson Pass Historical series by Tess Thompson. After the events of The Problem Child, Flynn Barnes and his wife , Shannon, and their idyllic marriage seemingly has been destroyed by a dangerous secret. Shannon is unsure if she can trust him again. With Christmas and Cymbeline’s wedding fast approaching, the Barnes children band together to help Flynn gain Shannon’s trust and win her heart again by using each of the final seven days featuring one grand gesture after another. Flynn fears it is too late. The Barnes family knows how to stick together no matter what but also know that the Christmas season is a time for love, joy and hope. Can Flynn and Shannon find a way back to each other and be stronger than ever? Will Emerson Pass’s favorite tomboy be as magical as the Christmas season? The Seven Days of Christmas is a quick and enjoyable read. Flynn is a stubborn man who made a horrible choice and wants to wallow in the aftermath in the implosion of his life. Shannon is a woman scorned, newly postpartum and experiencing a roller coaster of emotions. It seemed to be a tall order for Flynn to win back Shannon’s trust and love. I thoroughly enjoyed Flynn as he worked through the issues he caused and sought forgiveness from not only Shannon but the people of Emerson Pass. The grand gestures were sweet and I loved seeing Shannon’s heart melt again for Flynn. I also enjoyed Cymbeline’s wedding and the events surrounding it. Overall, I loved this short read and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. If you have enjoyed the Emerson Pass Historical series, I recommend The Seven Days of Christmas.
The Seven Days of Christmas is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook
Flynn, Flynn, Flynn…you are such a free spirit full of energy! You married the most perfect woman for you, the love of your life. Shannon adores you and you have everything going for you but you still feel the need to prove that you can do things on your own for the betterment of your family. This last endeavor was the topper of all. You almost lost your life and now you may be in jeopardy of losing your wife. Nobody knows if this time you can turn it around. Will Shannon forgive you? You need to figure out what steps to take to rectify the situation sooner rather than later, especially with Christmas coming in seven days. This sixth book in the Emerson Pass Historical series is a definite page turner and I highly recommend it! There is never a dull moment in Emerson Pass and this book does not disappoint at all! Thank you, Tess Thompson, for an advanced copy of this amazing book in exchange for my honest review.
In the Emerson Pass historical series, this fast paced, jam packed story closes up Flynn & Shannon’s story. Flynn realizes the secret he kept from his wife could be the one thing that may drive her away. With the help of the Barnes sisters, he tries to apologize for his mistakes. The book ends with Cym’s lovely wedding to Viktor.
I’m so glad we got these two story lines wrapped up. I was eagerly awaiting to see what happened!!
If you haven’t read any of the Emerson Pass books, I think you could read this as a stand alone because Tess does a nice job with the characters’ backgrounds. However, this series is so great, so I recommend reading them all!!!
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy. These opinions are my own.
Can Shannon and Flynn find their way back to love and trust.
I have loved the Emerson Pass series and characters. This story of Shannon and Flynn was difficult the first two chapters. I really was at the point I did not like either character and their childish behavior. There is a lot to forgive on both sides. Did love the story and the other characters. I did get to a point that I liked both characters. They will never be my favorites. A friend told me It is difficult to create characters and then gradually the story changes so the reader slowly dislike the characters. I now see that the character of Flynn was slowly woven into someone I did not like in the two previous books. Very good story.
Part of her Emerson Pass historical series and following right behind The Problem Child, this gem by Tess Thompson ties the beautiful and emotional threads of the Barnes children together. Set at Christmas and the excitement of Cymbeline’s marriage to Viktor, Flynn is working to repair his relationship with his lovely wife Shannon and gain forgiveness from his family for some poor decisions he made that put his family in danger. I absolutely love and recommend this series of books.
I read this as an ARC and wish to thank Tess Thompson and the publishers. The ideas in this review are all my own. Merry Christmas 🎄
The Seven Days of Christmas is truly a gift from an author to her loyal readers! A wonderful short story but so full with love, tenderness, family bonds and forgiveness. It starts exactly where we left at the end of The Problem Child with the promise of Cymbeline and Viktor's wedding on Christmas Eve and a stormy clouds hanging over Flinn and Shannon's marriage. It was a delight to get to see it through with all the Barnes's family involved as they usually do. Can't get enough with this amazing family Tess Thompson created along with their fantastic small town of Emerson Pass. I absolutely loved this heartfelt story. It's a must read!
The Seven Days of Christmas is a wonderful Christmas gift all wrapped up from Tess Thompson. It is a heartwarming story of family, love, second chances and new beginnings. A continuation of The Emerson Pass Historical Series, The Barnes Family have faced so much, good and bad but they get through it because they are invincible! A beautiful novella from start to finish, Thompson does not disappoint with this one!!! It is a touching story for all to read!
Thank you Tess Thompson for the gifted copy and continuation of this comforting series. I look forward to the next book in this beautiful series. #thesevendaysofchristmas #tessthompson #emersonpass
A delightful Christmas novella in the Emerson Pass Historical series! Great chance to catch up with Barnes family members in addition to a new story featuring Flynn and Shannon. When we left them in the last book (The Problem Child) Shannon was quite angry with Flynn after his secret business dealings blew up in everyone's faces. Can their marriage survive? How can Flynn prove to Shannon how sorry he is for what he's done. Get ready for the fun of all the Barnes siblings trying to help him! A perfect little story for a great family - Tess Thompson has created a magical world in Emerson Pass.
A sweet Christmas novella, with the themes of love, family and forgiveness. Flynn is working hard to try to make up for his misadventures. He realizes he needs to make it up to his wife, Shannon, after his business decisions almost wreck the community and his home life. Shannon searches her heart to decide how to proceed. Meanwhile the Barnes family offer plenty of advice to Flynn, while they also help prepare for Cymbeline’ Christmas wedding to Viktor.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Seven Days to Christmas is a wonderful Christmas story about forgiveness, redemption and love. It focuses on Flynn and Shannon with a little bit on Cymbeline and the rest of the gang, of course. If you’ve been reading along with this series about the Barnes family of Emerson Pass you’ll thoroughly enjoy it. It’s best to have read at least the prior book 4, for background. But I highly suggest reading all the books in this series by Tess Thompson. Her historical fiction just keeps getting better! I received an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review.
If you've been following along with the Emerson Pass series, you will love this book. Flynn and Shannon are at the center of this installment. Flynn needs to earn back Shannon's trust after his poor decision to run a side business that almost costs him his life. With the help of the Barnes family, Flynn starts his wooing of Shannon. I was so happy to read this book. I truly love Flynn and am so happy to see that he was able to rectify his mistake. As always, it's so much fun to see the Barnes family unite and help one another. Revisiting them is always a treat.
Flynn has been my LEAST favorite of all the siblings in this series, so the novella with his romance/marriage with Shannon was the perfect length. He's always been a troublemaker, but his last brush with drama means Shannon kicked him out of the house and he needs to figure out how to get her trust back. It's a sweet story that involves all the siblings, and some other tie-ins with family. Standalone, but you won't know who everyone is if you don't read at least one of the other in the series. HFN.
The Barnes family joins together to help Flynn out of the trouble he has gotten himself into. Flynn has kept a secret from his wife Shannon, which of course she finds out. She asks him to leave their home and their two daughters due to her anger. The family helps Flynn try to repair his broken marriage. They also get together and help their tomboy sister Cymbeline get prepared for her upcoming wedding. A fun holiday novella that is a nice addition to the Emerson Pass historicals. Thank you to the author and publisher for an advanced review copy. All opinions are my own.
"The seven days of christmas at Emerson Pass" is the 5th volume in the "Emerson Pass historical" series. The series takes place at the beginning of the 20th century in Colorado and features the Barnes family.
As I didn't read the previous volumes - which didn't bother me - I got to know all the members of the Barnes family at the same time! It’s a big, warm family! Snow, family, forgiveness and marriage...this short story of around a hundred pages is ideal in my opinion for the end-of-year holiday season. I had a great time reading. I plan to read the other volumes of this saga.
To start, STOP if you haven’t read the previous books. You can enjoy this one without doing so, but you will be in the dark about so much. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I feel a bit sorry for Flynn. He doesn’t mean to lead others astray or cause problems, he just doesn’t think about consequences before he leaps. Also in his mind, he didn’t lie to Shannon, he just didn’t tell her everything. To be honest, I wonder how many men do, especially when it comes to their business. Now normally there aren’t quite as extreme consequences. I’m really enjoying this series and this book is a good addition to that.
