When Maggie Lee helps an old man who’s fallen, she ends up working as a courier for his well-to-do son.
Proud of herself for landing a legitimate job that doesn’t involve a windowless office, Maggie ignores red flags and the concerns of God that all may not be what it seems. She’s too busy traversing the landmines of literacy involving a certain mobster’s grandson and juggling the two men who both want more from their relationships with her.
Maggie’s already stressed out when things go wrong, really wrong, with a delivery. A man’s dead and the police know about her involvement with him.
With the help of her pets and the two men vying for her affections, Maggie must figure out what the heck is going on…or God may be lost forever.
Maggie’s life is so complicated, but oh so entertaining! I can’t get enough of Maggie and her gang of animals. As usual she’s busy trying to help everyone. Always lots of laughs and lots of heart. JB Lynn never disappoints!
Cute. I’m just frustrated with Maggie because she is leading Gino on. She wants to be exclusive with him, but then she tells him that their relationship would be “too complicated”. It’s not right. Gino truly cares for her and even her menagerie of four-legged friends. He even knows about her animal talent that only a handful of people know. That shows he’s special right there and deep down she feels it too because she actually opened up and trusted him with her secret.
Enough with the lovey relationship stuff. Maggie picks up a part-time job… side hustle…she begins to believe may be a bit shady. She is to work only ten hours per week as a courier and she is given a rather fat envelope with cash as payment. The first delivery is a pleasant one. The neighborhood is a bit rundown, but after she knocks on the door and the man takes possession of the item she is delivering in only seconds, she turns from his door and leaves. Job is simple, right? Well, hold on because the second job is in a very sketchy neighborhood and Maggie is hesitant to make the delivery, but she has her intimidating and ferocious dog for protection so as she turns from the front door of the person she just gave her delivery to, she runs back to her car to get out of there. However, she is quickly stopped by a man who tells her not to return…ever. Maggie has no problem keeping that promise. So, the third delivery she is going to make, while she is waiting for her boss and before she can even get her payment or the item going out, her cat scans the alleyway and finds Maggie’s new boss hanging onto life. Maggie hours in to help him and get anole lizard finds a zipper bag and gets in to check out what’s inside…
Maggie gets clocked in the noggin and wakes up with throbbing pain in her head and her anole is missing. He was in the bag that was taken by the man that hit Maggie! So, it was now up to Maggie to get her best lizard friend back and she was going to do whatever she had too to do so. She called in a favor from Delvuccio the mob boss.
A bunch of cat and mouse (and pig, dog, peacock, and crow) movement later, she is closing in on the person with the bag holding the lizard. Can she do all of this without getting killed? Guess you’ll need to read this to find out.
The next book in this series is the 30th. It’ll be released tomorrow! “The Hitwoman’s Girls Night Out”. I’ll be reading that in the next couple of days, but for now 2 books from one of my favorite series was recently released and I’m going to read those now.
Next reads for me: The Ghost and the Birthday Boy (Haunting Danielle Book 28)
The Ghost and the Church Lady (Haunting Danielle Book 29)
Maggie is embroiled in a tug of war between Gino & Patrick which causes problems for her newest job that may or may not be legal. The menagerie is stepping it up when one of their own goes missing and the family is squabbling over mundane things. Maggie makes some tough decisions in this fun but darker story
Maggie has her hands full more than usual this time. Juggling her current man and one of her ex's is a struggle especially when she still has feelings for the ex. She can't seem to commit to anyone. Either way they are both there looking out for her and taking what they can get. Who knew hoping a old man up when he fell in the parking lot would lead to murder. Maggie agrees to be a courier for the old man's son. Seems simple enough but nothing ever is. This story for me was kind of a hmm whatever at first. Maggie's undecidedness about the men in her life drives me nuts but she also never seems to have any down time from mayhem. The story finally for me and my patience picks up about halfway or farther in. Lot of little connections coming together to maybe form a bigger picture with all the players in this series. The author keeps you guessing on who is doing what and with you all the time. Keeps things refreshed and interesting. In the end it really made this book good.
Maggie is the busiest woman I "know" and she never says "NO"! When she helps an old man who has fallen in a parking lot, it leads to a courier job. A sketchy courier job... of course. In turn, she gets in jams that would have most people running. Fortunately she has Gino looking after her and taking care of her! So many family issues bombard Maggie-from Katie's request to have Dominic be schooled with her, to her brother and his mob doctor girlfriend. Maggie and her loyal pets manage to figure out most pitfalls and problems.
Wonderful characters, non-stop action, amazing conflicts and clever resolutions make this a great read in a wonderful continuing series! I can't wait to see what Maggie does next. I love the series and this book!
Another winner! Once more, Maggie finds herself in trouble while trying to do a good deed. Before long, dead bodies and suitors are all around her. Add in an irritated mobster, and Maggie is trying to figure out which way is up while trying to help everyone. This book is filled with humor, mystery, and a bit of romance - resulting in an entertaining book that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible.
Fans of the genre will love this book. While it is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, its so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
I enjoy this series immensely. I usually finish the book in one day and am always left wanting more. Even though the books show some evil in the world, it also shows the power of love and kindness. As an animal lover, I appreciate the kindness that is always shown to every type of animal and the love the animals give in return. Maggie has a heart of gold which is why she ends up in the predicaments that she does. The next book can never come fast enough!
Book 29 is just as funny and intriguing as the first 28 books. Jen has a sense of humor unequaled and she knows how to write the story to go with it all. So glad her friends suggested she try writing a book. Gino is now the ‘man of the hour’ and is helping her cope. She has a crazy family. Her grandfather can also talk to animals and the conversations are funny. I mean who has a pig named Matilda that can talk to your lizard and to you. It is all hilarious. Makes me smile whenever I think of Patrick, her first murder mentor. Loads of fun in these short novels.
As usual, a good story. Way to short. I feel jipped, cheated and short changed. Compared to the previous books in this series, it lacked substance and detail of the subplots. It is one thing to leave an unanswered question or two that were a bit mystery and adds interest in the next book, but to leave every personal plot hanging? Not a good option. I did not get my money's worth.
As usual for J.B. Lynn to turn in for her readers this book is not a disappointment to read and enjoy! Reading her Hit Woman series is a absorbing ,can't stop pleasure. As usual she leaves her readers wanting more as soon as possible! Writing each book in this series is a long process but as a devoted reader I know her next book will be equally enjoyable as the last. Thank you J.B. , I anxiously await the next book!
This series is one of the best. JB Lynn can spin a tale with such skill that you don't even know what is happening. Murder, mayhem and romance, what else could anyone want.
I have read the complete series. JB Lynn never disappoints. I enjoy the characters so much. The ups and downs of Maggie's life keeps me reading and wondering what crazy mess she will get herself into next.
Good mystery with unexpected heroes and good storyline. The only shortcoming is the author doesn't write as fast as I read. I guess that is good as I would be sleep deprived you can't put them down once you start reading them.
I enjoy this series and this book is great! I could not put it down. Lots of action and all the fun characters (human and animal) are involved in the mystery! It has some chuckles along the way. Can’t wait for the next one.
I always enjoy these stories. The gang is here and in the middle of the mess. Experience doesn’t seem to be making Maggie any smarter. I hope this character grows and changes.
This book was romantic, suspenseful and heartbreaking in some places. I love the animals! I am even starting to like Ms. Whitehat. It ended with a new twist, and I can't wait to read the next one. Please hurry!
Maggie has a lot going on. I think her and Brody are more alike than anyone wants. She needs a family member on her side and that will be hard because of the danger she is involved with. Overall I enjoyed the story and I can’t wait for the next one.
I don’t know how she does it. Maggie’s seems to find trouble around every corner. No good deed goes unpunished. I worry that the animals, especially the cat are getting very hurt in each book. Good thing Piss has 9 lives.
