Have been reading these stories here and there for quite a while now but finished the last one this past Monday. Also had the pleasure of meeting the editor last year(?) at the Indy Central Library's author fair and recall having a delightful conversation with her about short stories. My favorite stories in this volume were probably "Fate, Rewritten" by Allison Spooner, "Luxury #35" by Patricia Stover, and "The Shape of Daffodils" by the Editor. Now I'll have to go find Cafe Macabre I and read those stories. :-)

Cafe Macabre II is a great collection of horror short stories. The detailing is awesome, the progression through each story held my interest with the right blend of mystery and well-timed revelations. The stories range from the twisted and vengeful, to the sad, haunting, and compelling. The authors draw their inspiration, not just from channeled experiences, but from awesome iconic horror, as well. For example, in Luxury #35, we see a meek-mannered woman who finds her escape in a very double-edged Twilight Zone style remedy that will give her what she wants...with a cost. And in sweetly haunting stories like the Mariachi Band, an annual tradition rewards a loving family matriarch with a finish that managed to pull my heart strings. I don't want to ruin too much. There really is so much more, and I enjoyed all of it!!!
