A winged, fire-breathing infant cries from within the soft basket left upon my porch.
Wow.
Why was this tiny baby placed on the doorstep of the only human female on Salo for miles? I’ll never know. Babies are completely foreign to me. But I can’t find any next of kin for this adorable infant, so I do my best to feed and care for her as if she were my own.
And soon I hear whispered footsteps and feel the faint brush of white feathers from something much larger and muscular with its own wings and black tail that silently enters my home. And then one day I fully see him—the baby’s father. My breath catches in my throat as this shockingly handsome angel wraps his wings around me.
Each night I eagerly share my bed with him. My fingers map every inch of his hot-blooded, red-skinned body. And each morning I awake to find him gone.
And I wonder—why did this magnificent Hyrrokin male leave his baby with me? And what will I do if he eventually leaves, and takes his daughter with him?
Michele Mills lives in California and leads a life of quiet, G rated desperation with her husband and two sons. In an attempt at a fulfilling, R rated inner life that does not include Disney movies and Nickelodeon; Michele reads and writes filthy romance and, well...filthy romance. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Hyrokkin with wings? Yes please! This whole story just flowed like a magical dream. I know that statement sound fantastical, but come on, he's A muscular, red skinned, single dad with giant white wings, with the bonus points of also having an adorable little cloned daughter! He's like a freedom fighter out to vanquish the bad guys on his own, like a freaking super hero! The magical comparison just builds on itself, lol! The human heroine just doesn't stand a chance of resisting him, especially when you add in the hot sexy times and the reuniting of the family, it's just all epically sweet, hot, and hard to put down!
The bare bones of this story could have made a very bittersweet tale of drama and suspense in novel form. As a short story, it was utterly unbelievable but entertaining.
Evie lives quietly on a property outside of the town, making her the perfect person to look after a baby. Evie hears a baby crying on her porch and takes her into her home and heart 💓 Isak is on the run, well aware he is being tracked. He needs to be sure his daughter is safe. As he learns more of his past he finds he needs to reconnect with his long lost brother.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and compelling story. The story is well written, fast paced with lots of chemistry between Evie and Isak. I liked how the relationship between them develops quickly and how they were able to be reunited with Isaks brother. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts, feelings and emotions. There's an epilogue 💓 and a HEA 💓
Fantastic sci-fi romance with Evie and Isak. Evie a human lives on her own on the planet Salo when one night she wakes from her sleep to hear a baby crying so she runs to her front door to find a baby wailing it’s red skinned with dainty white wings and a tail so Evie takes the baby inside once she can’t find it’s parents, there’s a note in the basket the baby is a girl and her name is Lyla but Evie doesn’t know how to look after a baby and Lyla isn’t even human. I loved this story and the characters and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Oh how I wish these Monster Bites shorts were longer because they are so good I don’t want them to end! Her Alien Angel is another winner and third book in the series. Kidnapped from his home as an infant Isak’s been used in experiments by evil Hurlian scientists in order to create a future covert military operative. Wings were grafted to his body as a young boy and his DNA used later in life to create a daughter. But this Hyrrokin has had enough! Leaving his baby girl on the doorstep of human Evie Jones sets in motion the beginnings of a wonderful, charming romance spiced to perfection and layered in well written prose which is complimented by an exiting storyline. Loved it!!!.

This book was short, but that was not a negative for me. In fact, I often think some books are too long. The problem was, I did not get a feeling the relationship solidified properly in the allotted time. It seemed rushed and there was too much emphasis on external forces. In fact, I have read plenty of Romance Short Stories where the relationship didn't feel as rushed, and even an afterthought, as this one.
Perhaps the author was using this book to wrap up the series? If the book wasn't so short, I may not have finished it.
Love this series, this one was just as great as the previous books in the series. I do think the story felt a tiny bit rushed, I think it could have been great to get more time with Isak and his brother. I did like the connection between Evie and Isak and how he just couldn't pull himself away from her and his daughter. My favorite part was the epilogue, it was super adorable. . Evie wakes to find a crying baby on her doorstep. But it’s not just any crying baby, this one is red with tiny horns, a barbed tail, breathes fire and has angel wings. Isak knows he should stay away and just let the human care for his daughter, but he can’t. He must be near her. How can he fight against his captors and keep Evie and his daughter safe?
Smokin' winged Hyrrokin plus his cute baby daughter! When Evie wakes up one night to find a cute red, winged, baby girl left on her doorstep for her to care for, that's not all she'll be caring for. The baby's father, Isak, is keeping close tabs on Evie & his baby - protecting and providing for them both. Their relationship rapidly develops into something more, and the action is hot and steamy. Another fun & sexy read featuring a curvy girl & her Hyrrokin mate - fun to have Cabal & Lorelei back from Book 1.
Isak, the male alien lead, leaves his baby daughter with Evie, the female human lead, as he has escaped with her from captivity and needs a safe place for her whilst he plans how to destroy his captors. He didn’t expect to be attracted to Evie or for her to reciprocate.
This novella is dual POV, well written, and ever so cute. Dual virgins, fast paced, with exciting situations and connections to previous stories in the series, this story stands alone but is even better if you’ve read the others.

While I like her books it is distracting that the author repeatedly misuses "Could care less" when they meant use "couldn't care less". This typo makes the authors words mean the opposite of what she's trying to say and is annoying to read multiple times in many of her books.
This is a good sci-fi alien romance, but I did have some minor issues with it. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.
First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I would have liked a little more backstory on both Isak and Evie.
Evie was likable, and I loved that she immediately fell in love with, and wanted to care for Isak's daughter. Even though she didn't know much about caring for babies, she was determined to learn and to keep baby Lyla safe and happy until she could be with her family again.
Isak was likable, too, but it was sad that he had been kidnapped as a child, and his family thought he died. Even though he learned to like having wings, his captors grafted them to his back without his consent as a child -- and that procedure, and others done to him, was very painful. For a child to suffer through that is terrible. Then when they cloned Lyla from him, and tried to use her to force him to kill for them, he refused, and escaped with Lyla. I was glad that he found Evie to help him until he could assure that he and Lyla were safe.
I liked that curvy girls were considered beautiful in Isak's world, since everyone on his planet was much larger than any human. I also liked that Isak was so very honorable, even though he had been raised by cruel kidnappers, who wanted him to kill for them.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
She needs a better editor and a basic grounding in science. It’s science fiction, there is some suspension of disbelief here, but what she wrote in this one was simply ridiculous. She writes many times that the MMC was kidnapped as a baby and then had wings grafted on to him.. which somehow grew as he got older? And then a clone was made from his sperm AND DNA (why would both be needed) and is somehow a different gender? And also has wings? That’s not how cloning works?! This goes in to the need for an editor. Would it not have been way simpler in the story to have the evil scientists use his sperm without his permission and the egg of another captive to create super baby? Also, a simple reread would have avoided errors like the MMC telling the FMC he met with his brother and his father was in prison for treason, her bemoaning the lack of her own family, and in the NEXT paragraph her exclaiming her surprise that he has a brother. She literally says “at least you have a brother”. The next paragraph, it’s like that hasn’t even happened. Also in an earlier chapter, she had a long term boyfriend but now has never been kissed? Ok, sure. Finally, there’s insta-love, and there is desperation. For Pete’s sake, she doesn’t even meet the guy and she harbors lustful feelings about the rando who left his daughter with a stranger and enters her house secretly. She faints at the sight of him, but his abs are great, so let’s make babies? On his part, he’s literally never met anyone outside of captivity. If you can ignore all that, it’s a decent little novella.
Her Alien Angel is the story of Isak Firestone, a Hyrrokin, and Evie Jones, a human. Isak is the previously presumed dead brother of Cabal Firestone, the hero in Her Alien Priest. Evie relocated to Salo to attend schooling and ended up staying on Salo. She and Isak meet after he has anonymously dropped a baby off on her doorstep, with a note asking her to care for the infant in his absence. Little Lyla is a Hyrrokin with wings! No one has heard of a Hyrrokin with wings. Isak quietly keeps to the fog and shadows and watches Evie care for Lyla. Until he feels a pull to Evie and needs to know her. There is an instant attraction between Evie and Isak.
Isak is running from another race of aliens, who had experimented on him for decades. He needs Evie to help him keep Lyla safe from them.
Realizing his brother and his spouse and unborn child may be in grave danger, he has to take action to protect not only Lyla and Evie but also his brother and pregnant sister-in-law as his prior captors make an appearance.
This was such a wonderful and heartwarming story of freedom, love, and reunion. Love overshines everything else in this story. Evie and Isak are both relatable characters. It is easy for the readers to connect with them. And Lylah? Who wouldn't fall for a winged baby?!
This is a fabulous end to the Monster Bites trilogy! The entire series has been wonderful!
Having been kidnapped from his home long ago and believed dead, Isak, a Hyrrokin, has been held captive and experimented on by evil Hurlians as they try to create a powerful military operative for their use. They added wings to him and created a child from him. But he is not willing to allow his child Lyla to be used in this way, so he escapes and takes her with him. He has to keep running because they are after him, but he wants her to be safe while he keeps the scientists away from her.
Evie Jones is a human living on Salo. She hears a winged infant crying on her porch. Not sure why the baby was left with her, she tries to care for her. The baby's father, Isak, stays out of sight but is keeping a close watch on Evie and Lyla, protecting and providing for them. Their relationship becomes more when she hears footsteps, the faint brush of feathers, and Isak who wraps his wings around her each night. Always gone in the morning, Evie wonders why this Hyrrokin male left Lyla with her and whether he will one day take the baby away? Is there any room in his life for Evie?
This was such a good story. There is much more to learn about as well as Isak wants to reconnect with his brother. Grab your copy and see if they can avoid the danger and if Evie and the baby stay safe until Isak is finished with what he has to do.
We're back on Salo with a human woman and the alien who finds himself drawn to her. As it turns out, Isak's been isolated enough from him people that it takes him a while to realize why he's so drawn to Evie. And why he trusts her enough to take care of his baby girl when he can't.
So, yeah. Isak and Evie sort of have to feel their way along in their budding relationship. Evie is fascinated by the Hyrrokin with wings. She adores his daughter and is willing to do pretty much anything to make sure the baby is cared for and safe. Isak is a Hyrrokin on a mission and he doesn't expect to get distracted by Evie, but she not only distracts him, she also approaches the problem he's dealing with from a different perspective and comes up with a solution to his issues.
It also turns out that Isak has a connection to another Salo resident. I do enjoying revisiting familiar faces, so that was a nice treat.
A fire-breathing baby, a winged, giant of a man, a little danger, a family reunion, and a couple who found one another despite the odds stacked against them.
Michelle Mills drives me batty! The woman's got mass writing skills and an astonishing imagination. She creates incredible interconnected worlds, populates them with distinctive, bizarre and yet relatable alien species, dreams up incredible multi-stranded plots, and then... ...Instalove. That's it. We don't get the delicious deets on the neighborhood rivalries, the family feuds, the political machinations, the injustices, or any of the things that would make her novels totally stand out. We get (in this version) a Hyrokkin hero with a helluva history - and wings! (Not standard Hyrokkin equipment). We get a curvy girl with a rough start in life - who has made it on her own (and we don't know why/how) We get Wham, Bam, thank you ma'am and Poof, a pregnancy. I'm beyond frustrated. I want the full story, dammit! Now, if (unlike me) instalove is your thing, you'll love this book. it's quick, entertaining, and steamy. In fairness to those readers, I'm gonna give this three (reluctant) stars in this totally independent and voluntary ARC review.
Human Evie lives on Salo and wakes up to find a winged infant crying on her porch. Determined to do her best for the child she takes it in and starts to care for her using the supplies that were left there too. Then she sometimes hears footsteps and the faint brush of feathers before one day seeing the baby's father Isak Firestone. Isak finds he cannot stay away from both his child and Evie and he wraps his wings around her as each night they share her bed before the morning when she finds him gone. Why did the Hyrrokin male leave his baby with her and will he one day leave, taking the child with him?
This was a sweet story that seems to pull the monster bites series together nicely although I have an outstanding thought as to if they are going to meet their brothers back in their homeworld? I enjoyed the duplicitous nature of the so-called delegation and that Isak knew them so well as to see through the lies. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexual content.
Her Alien Angel by Michele Mills is the third Monster Bites story, and it was such a fun and delightful read!
Evie and Isak are so enjoyable. Their dynamic and the building relationship between them as the story develops kept me engaged and hooked from start to finish!
Evie is so caring and giving and has a lot of love to give, just wanting to be accepted for who she is and loved in return. Her nurturing nature was like a warm hug.
Oh Isak, my heart broke for him and his story even as it mended as he found what he was searching for on multiple levels.
There's some drama, some history, some redemption, and a whole lot of love and acceptance and new beginnings! So, what are you waiting for? Dive in, and find out more about Her Alien Angel!
Isak Firestone is a Hyrrokin male with unusual wings. When he leaves his infant daughter on the doorstep of a female human, it’s with the idea that she will be cared for while he deals with some pressing business. He never counted on falling for Evie…
This one is a fun short in Michele Mills’ monster bites series, which themselves are the novellas in her Hyrrokin/Swirl universe. There is a brief mention of some of the Hyrrokin and Swirl stories in this book, but this works as a standalone story (although I do recommend reading the others in this particular series for context).
If you’re a sci-fi romance fan, and love Michele’s Hyrrokin or Swirl stories, you’ll enjoy this short. If you’re a sci-fi romance fan who hasn’t read Michele’s books, you can start with this series, but I highly recommend starting with her Swirl or Hyrrokin series mostly for context.
I love this "spin-off" series...which really can be read on it's own if you wanted. I love the story of how these poor misplaced humans are getting on in the universe. I absolutely love the Hyrrokin race, and Isak is a commendable addition to the ranks. Evie is a loving, caring woman who can't help but care for the baby Isak leaves on her doorstep while he battles the Hurlians that are trying to recapture them. It's an exciting plot, and there's barely time for their romance to bloom, but bloom it does! The only thing wrong with this book is that it's too short! I have the same issue with all of the monster bites!

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a dash of suspense and intrigue. The characters were interesting and likable. Evie wasn’t prepared for a baby to be dropped off on her doorstep but she adapted quickly. Little Lyla needed Evie to step up so she did. Isak had chosen Evie to care for Lyla while he was trying to keep them safe. Cabal and Lorelai became great allies and family. Evie impressed me with her strategic thinking about how to deal with the enemy that was hunting them. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Evie wakes up in the middle of the night to the sounds of a crying infant. Who would leave a baby on her doorstep? A baby with wings. Evie takes in the child and the adventure of her life begins. Isak has escaped the Hurricane and has come to Salon to find his brother and find freedom. Leaving his child with the lone human is the only way to keep the baby safe while setting up the downfall of his former captors. I love how the book ties into the other series by this author. The world building is consistent and easy to follow. This was a fun, steamy story. I'll be looking for more in the Monster Loves Curves series. I hope to see more stories featuring the planet Salon.
Evie is strong minded woman who has managed through hard work to build her business and pursue her passion. She has purchased her own property furtherest from the town where she enjoys living alone proud of her achievements. One night while asleep she is awakened by a noise. Once she checks and opens her door she finds a beautiful baby on her doorstep. She is surprised, as she realises that she is immediately enamoured with the baby. She feels a great connection and a strong protective bond. Isak, a Hyrrokin, who has been enslaved has escaped and left his baby on Evie’s doorstep . A lovely story of kidnapping, cruelty, secrets and family found. Lion hearted women and the unique men that are blessed with them.
I loved this story. Great world building. I loved the characters. Because it was a relatively short story, the characters didn't really have bonding time to get to know each other, so it was kind of an insta-love story. I don't usually like insta-love, but I really enjoyed this and am still satisfied with how everything played out. I haven't read the first book, but I do own it now, so I'm looking forward to reading it and getting to know Cabal- Isak's brother. Wonderful characters. I would love an additional story or even a bonus short of their happy lives afterwards, or even visiting Tarvos. A fun read. 5 stars.
These are short Firestone tales that don't hit the same way as the newer ones do. We meet the brother of the priest from the last story. He has a cloned daughter named Lyla and his love interests name is Evie. He was tortured in a lab and now wants to get his revenge. It was fine. Nothing special.
First page. I gasp and sit up in bed, trying to calm my racing heart. A palm against my chest doesn't seem to help my stuttering breaths, considering I'm half asleep and disoriented. I thought I heard...No, it couldn't be...Did I hear a...? Another sharp cry pierces the quiet darkness." Whaaaaaaaaa!
This is a short little novella filled with a lot of heart. The relationship is definitely on extreme fast forward and I was confused about time. In Isak's narration he makes references to having doing this and that and it almost makes it sound like it has been a fair amount of time. But in Evie's narration it is less than a week.
But these three are a cute little family and there is a surprising amount of background built in. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Really enjoyed this. Evie lives alone at the edge of the town and finds a tiny, super cute winged baby girl on her doorstep one evening. She’d been left there for safekeeping by her father, Isak who needs to lie low. When he reveals himself to Evie, there’s an instant attraction between them. Although short, this is packed with everything you could want - evil alien scientists, drama, peril, steamy scenes, love and family. This was a quick but wonderful read. I love the instant-love story Ms. Mills writes and this one is right up there with the best of her books. I keep wondering how she was going to make this concept work and it works wonderfully. It's definitely not what I had in mind for the Hyrrokin species of course. And oh man, I loved how this one is linked back to other beloved characters in another series even though they are but a quick mentioned in this book. The only thing I wish was for more but y'all I'm already rooting and hoping she'll write books for the kids. Fingers crossed, LOL.
