Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I'd meet someone there. This was a short and cute novella about a second chance at love. It was fast-paced and I wish we would have gotten more with the couple, but overall I enjoyed it.

Spring has been dating her high school sweetheart since she was 15 years old. It’s six weeks until their wedding day and she is now wondering if she is making a mistake marrying Mitchell.

Spring and her sister Dee have a very successful bakery in their small town. It was a quiet sleepy town, until a travel blogger highlighted its charm and now real estate is at a premium. Needless to say they sell out of food most days and enjoy coming up with new cupcake flavour creations.

When Spring decides to fess up and tell Mitchell her hesitation in marrying him, they agree to end things now - before they commit to forever. It turns out to be a good decision as once they have a truly honest conversation they realise it’s for the best or both of them. Mitchell has one stipulation though - he wants Spring to take the honeymoon in Hawaii she had planned for them.

When Spring arrives in Hawaii she is in awe of everything. She has wanted to visit this beautiful island country for as long as she could remember and it is better than she could have imagined. She does stick out a bit, most people are coupled up so a woman dining and drinking alone raises the interest of one guy in particular.

Diego lives in Hawaii, is a retired pro surfer and frequents the resort Spring is staying at because his brother owns it. He also provides surf lessons to the guests. He has recently gotten out of a long term relationship after realizing he wanted a different future than his ex. Something draws him to Spring and it’s not just how beautiful she is. He offers to show her around the island and the connection they both feel towards each other only grows.

How could this be happening so fast, Spring is feeling all sorts of things for Diego, it’s like he has awakened something in her that had been dormant. Is love at first sight really a thing? She spends her two weeks in Hawaii pretty much by Diego’s side and all they know when she boards her plane back home is that this is not over.

This was another fun addition to this light romance novella series!

This was a really cute and short love story. J. Sterling shows us how good it is to give a chance to love, when you're hurt in the past or if you wasn't sure that the person you've been with for a long time was the right person for you.

If you want to read a story with place in Hawaii, while being in the beach mentally, this book is definately for you ❤️.

Special thanks to J. Sterling for providing me with the ARC ❤️.

Spring's Second Chance is Sterling's newest standalone in her Fund For the Holiday's collection. It's a very quick, easy read.

Spring ended things with her fiancé and longtime boyfriend when she realized that her heart was no longer beating the same way. It ended amicable and they both walked away without any problems along with him telling her she should still go on the honeymoon trip to Hawaii since it's been a dream of hers.

Diego is a native islander and has finally settled down in his town after traveling the world for his job. He's been helping out around the island giving surf lessons and helping his brother out at the resort he owns. After his high school girlfriend walked away from him, he hasn't really ventured back into the romance area.

This was very cute read. It's definitely more along the lines of insta love/lust during a vacation. I enjoyed the characters as they were very honest with one another and communicated well with everything. The book moves at a very fast pace and delivers on the romance.

If you are looking for a quick, sweet romance, then this book is for you.

This one was so cute! It's a story about choosing yourself and not settling for what doesn't bring you joy. Spring gets a second chance at love and doesn't waste a second embracing it. I really enjoyed her story!

Diego and Spring's story is a quick, sweet and lighthearted one. There was an instant connection between them though they have to work on a few things such as that they live in two different places. I loved Spring's sister, Delilah's encouragement for Spring to be with Diego. And her quick friendship with Diego. I think this whole novella is a sweet read.

¡2.5 ESTRELLAS!

“Life seemed to have a way of coming together in ways you least expected.”

description

“I mean, it’s easy to say you want this and that when you’re seventeen and you haven’t really lived life or figured out who you are as a person. I think it’s easy to grow apart as a couple at the same time you’re finding yourself as an individual. Does that make any sense?”

Five weeks before her scheduled wedding to high school sweetheart Mitchell, bakery owner Spring Monroe realizes that she made a mistake when she said yes to his proposal and calls off their engagement. Mitchell's a good man and she doesn't want to hurt him, but she feels trapped by their relationship and the thought of spending the rest of her life in their small California town. Fortunately, Mitchell accepts her decision with grace and even insists that Spring go on what would have been their honeymoon trip to Hawaii by herself, knowing that it's always been her dream to visit the islands. Upon arriving at the resort, Spring meets retired professional surfer Diego Peleke and is immediately intrigued by him. Diego is equally drawn to Spring, but he fights the attraction because he's still getting over the end of his own engagement. It's not long before he gives into his feelings, but is his relationship with Spring destined to be nothing more than a vacation fling?

I enjoyed this short, sweet, and steamy story, which featured likeable characters, low angst, and a fun tropical setting. I'm not generally a fan of the insta-love trope, but Spring and Diego seemed to make a good couple, and they were certainly cute together. That said, I was a bit bothered by how much they seemed to dwell on their respective exes. Diego in particular spent a lot of time talking and thinking about his ex, Kaylee, and I really had to wonder if he was actually over her or still on the rebound.

At any rate, I'd recommend this story for romantic comedy fans looking for a quick read and will plan to pick up the next book in the series.

Fun, sweet, and with just the right amount of spice. I read this in a couple of hours and enjoyed it very much. The book starts with Spring ending her engagement and at first I thought she was a major a-hole for that move but turns out the dude was READY to start dating. Y’all hear me, he moved on quick! Spring ended up taking their honeymoon trip to Hawaii solo and meets Diego an ex pro surfer and hot af local! I enjoyed their honestly and their chemistry! I wasn’t a fan of Spring and Diego having the exact same story line but in the end it made sense and it is what made their relationship progress in a healthy way.

Now I want to go to Hawaii to find the LOML 🤭

This is a super cute vacation novella. It’s the perfect palate cleanser if you’ve been reading anything dark or heavy. This has all the island vibes you could want and is like going on a terrific book vacation without leaving your house.

Spring realizes the future that is mapped out for her isn’t one she wants anymore. Her vacation escape provides the perfect opportunity to meet someone completely different.

Diego is a retired surfer who finds himself falling for a tourist. These two give you all the best insta-love feels and you can totally see their lives intertwining. They have a super steamy week together and the possibility for more definitely exists!

Loved this one. Spring and Diego are great together!!

I requested an advance reader copy of this book and these are my honest opinions.

These books are amazing. MUST READ! I love all the feels you get but it’s also a quick read for those that normally don’t have the time to read every day. Each one of these books is a standalone, there is no overlap in characters. We are on book 4 so far and I already want these to go on forever. Lol

Spring has grown up in a small town and has been with her Fiancé since she was 15. Now a few months from the wedding and she is questioning everything. Does she love him as a best friend or is she in love with him. Have they stayed together this whole time, because it’s comfortable and this is what “normally” comes next? She knew something was off and knew she could not marry him. One of the hardest things she has ever done was break it off, but to her surprise, he was feeling the same thing. In the end they were both happy with the decision they made and he told her to still take the honeymoon trip since it was her dream vacation. So that’s what she did, 10 days in Hawaii.

Diego was born and raised on the Island. He loved it. There was no other place he would move too and that was the reason his fiancé left him. She wanted out, she wanted to see the world, but Diego has seen enough of the world traveling as a professional surfer. He is now retired from surfing and living on the island. It’s been 6 months since he was dumbed and hasn’t looked at another woman since. Well that’s until the most beautiful woman he has ever seen walks into his brother’s resort. He didn’t know who she was but usually couples come to the resort so he kept walking and never looked back, until he saw her sitting alone the next day and could not stay away. He was being pulled to her.

They knew their time was eventually going to come to an end, when Spring has to go back to California, but Diego was not ready to ever let her go. He knew she was it, and was willing to leave the island to be with her. He had never once thought of that with his ex, so he would do anything to keep her. Spring wanted to stay, but knew with her store back home and her sister, she could not and could never ask him to leave, because she knew he loved the island. He made her a promise that he would come and visit in the next few months and that they can make this work long distance, but she didn't believe it, long distance with Diego was something she couldn’t do. He was an all or nothing guy and she wanted all.

Received this ARC for my honest review and opinion.

How does Jenn do it? She’s got me itching to go to Vail, to Ireland, and now to Hawaii to find a perfect stranger to fall in love with.

I’ve been going into the short holiday romances blind. So I had no clue what this book was about. But let me tell you! The first chapter is like a punch to the emotional gut. Spring is engaged to, basically her high school sweetheart, Mitchell and they’ve been together since they were 15. They’re both now 24. So they’re all each other has known. Spring doesn’t want to marry Mitchell. It’s not cold feet. It’s a strong urge to not tie herself to the only person and place that she’s ever known. And I had a strong relatable moment where I understood her loving the person that she was with, but no longer being in love with them.

Spring takes the no-honeymoon to Hawaii and it’s like the stress of the only town that she’s known melts away. When she sees a stranger, he elicits a part of her that she had never experienced. Diego is that stranger and he has baggage of his own. Spring and Diego have very similar backstory’s when it comes to why they’re both single. And I liked seeing how they both navigated being single for the first time in almost a decade. They don’t know what it’s like to date other people or even if being intimate would dredge up the mistake of being with someone else. I mean, both of their respective exes have already move on so why can’t they? Spring and Diego both treaded new beginnings with caution. I loved that Jenn didn’t have with of them bash their exes.

I didn’t know if this book would be dual POV. I didn’t know if this book would essentially be a fade-to-black moment. But wow! The first scene shocked me and the second scene just defined who those two were together.

Does this book have a guaranteed HEA? Yes!

Will this book make you want to travel to Oahu and stumble across a handsome stranger? Yes!

Add this to your TBR. It'll be on kindle unlimited for a short amount of time!

Spring's Second Chance was a cute short story that overall I enjoyed.

Spring and her sister Dee own a cupcake store in the small town of Lake Bliss, California. It's the epitome of small town where everyone knows everyone. It has grown over the years and has become a tourist destination. But life is pretty mundane and hasn't changed much since they were kids. Spring is engaged to her high school sweetheart, Mitchell and they are to be married in a matter of weeks and settle down in the small town that isn't bringing Spring excitement anymore. So when Spring calls off the wedding, what will become of these two? Will she give Mitchell a second chance, or has the town become too small for her??

From the beginning, I liked the possibilities of this storyline. Then when Spring called off the wedding, it was just a little too easy of a breakup. BUT I liked how they both came to some realizations and dealt with it quickly (maybe too quickly). When Mitchell has Spring still take the honeymoon, I was excited for the potential change of scenery to Oahu since it was a place I lived for 10 years. Unfortunately, there were a couple things that stood out to me that weren't true Hawaii (and they were just small details, but they bugged me since I know better as a kama'aina). For example, IF you live on Oahu and surf, you don't wear wetsuits. It's strictly your boardshorts and maybe rashguards. There were a few of those things that weren't true to Hawaii/names/culture, but when it's minor, I suppose it's not that big of a deal, but would've appreciated more attention to detail.

When Spring got to Oahu, you could already feel she was more at ease. When her love interest is introduced, it was a little too instalove/lust for me especially since both of the characters had recently gotten out of serious relationships. But when you know, you know.

Overall, it was cute and fast paced and the story takes you away on a little island vacation. I actually wouldn't mind more from them and getting Dee's story too. Sis needs an HEA too!

*this book was sent to me by the author to give an honest review in return*

This was such a cute and perfect read if you want to finish a book quickly. This book follows Spring who broke off her marriage with her fiancé and goes on the honeymoon solo only to meet this hot dude in Hawaii. I haven't read any books by Sterling but heard great things about her writing style and let me say I wasn't disappointed. I was hooked on to the story from the first chapter! First of all this book is less than 200 pages but everything is balanced out. The plot and characters are strong, the romance is cute, and there are so many details with the setting and more. I love all the details the author provided about the small town and Hawaii as it felt like I was there myself. The pacing was fast which I enjoyed. This book is written from dual perspectives.

The main characters in this book are Spring and Diego. Spring is from a small town in Cali who ones a cupcake shop with her sister. She breaks off her marriage and goes to Hawaii. I loved her character development and how understanding of a character she was. I felt connected with her story and I know many readers will be too. Diego is the main guy lead who works at the resort and has his own story. I enjoyed his development but Spring's more. There aren't many side characters but I absolutely loved Dee and I hope there is a story for her. The romance is unexpected love and love at first site which is quite steamy.

The ending was well done and I enjoyed this book. It's a book I will be rereading if I need an uplift from life because I felt very connected with the characters. I'm excited to read the other books in the series and see which characters/stories those will feature. I totally recommend checking out these books especially if you need a cute, short read.

🌸 ARC REVIEW 🌸
Review: 3.75/5 ⭐️
Steam: 1.5/5 🔥

#springssecondchance by @authorjsterling is the next book in the holiday series.

Spring just ended things with her longtime partner. She couldn’t see herself marrying the only man she’s ever been with anymore, nothing personal she just felt them drifting apart. So when they mutually decide she should still take the honeymoon, it’s a dream of hers come true. She’s loving everything Hawaii offers. Somethings more than others. But is she able to enjoy the time alone or is there an islander that will keep her entertained?

Diego is an islander who’s had the excitement in his life to travel the world while being a pro surfer. Now being retired, he’s content with staying on the island. When he sees Spring at his brother’s resort, he knows there’s something different about her. Can he let himself be with another woman after his last relationship ended in heartbreak or will she fill in the missing pieces of his heart?

This book is cute. If you like insta lust/ love during a vacation fling, this is definitely for you. Spring is smart and determined but also goes with the flow in other aspects. I loved how she finally did what she wanted and wasn’t settling on what others wanted for her. There’s a couple quirky things she did/ said that I wanted to pinch her for but overall a good character. Diego was a little all over the place in the beginning with his attitude but I warmed up to him quick. I wish I got a little more of Spring’s independence after the breakup and before the “honeymoon”, but I know it probably would have dragged things out. Her sister was a great side character and I’d love to hear her story! I’m loving these quick, fun loving reads and can’t wait for more!

I didn’t actually know what to expect from this story. I haven’t read one of this authors books in years. But it was a nice story 😊

Spring was about to marry her high school sweetheart but for some reason she is just not looking forward to this wedding at all. So she decides to be honest with her fiancé and calls off the wedding. Her fiancé insists she take their honeymoon trip to Hawaii since it’s a dream of hers to visit. From the moment she arrives on the island its like she’s free and feels like she can finally just breathe and live her life. And then she meets Diego 😊

Diego was a professional surfer. After all the travelling he is just happy to be home and wanting to settle down. But then his fiancé walks out on him. Seeming not quit over the breakup, he meets Spring. And she is like a breath of fresh air to him and soon it seems like he cant get enough of her. But she doesn’t live on the island and can he trust that if this moves forward that she would want to stay with him and be happy living on the island for the rest of her life, as his fiancé wasn’t too happy about that…

It was a sweet, easy, quick romantic read. A vacation ‘fling’ turning into something so much more for both Spring and Diego. Diego had his own issues to overcome. Giving his heart to someone and trusting that they will stay. Spring had to decide if she wanted to leave behind a successful business and the place she grew up in… All in all a quick easy read

Thank you J. Sterling for yet another light, wonderful ARC. All opinions are my own.

These books are just what I need when I'm coming off of a heavy, dark read. They are the perfect length to read in one sitting and never fail to bring a smile to my face and that light bubbly feeling to my heart.

This novella is about Spring, a small town baker, recently out of an engagement and Diego, a retired surfer recovering from a break up of his own. These two were absolutely perfect for one another and the sparks between them were electric! You get witty banter, sexy times, and a happily ever after we all dream of!

The breathtaking backdrop just makes me want to hop on a plane and head to Hawaii as soon as possible. Finding yourself and your soulmate in a place like that is an absolute fairy tale and J. Sterling did a magnificent job capturing the beauty of their love.

If you haven't read the rest of the series, that's alright since they're all standalones, but I highly recommend reading all of them. Spring's Second Chance is perfect for the reader that wants a feel good love story without the unnecessary drama. Do yourself a favor, read these books and buy the paperback copies, the covers are ADORABLE!

My husband got me the set of 12 holiday books for Mother's Day and being May this is the first book I started with. The writing itself was good and the story was cute. I'm just not into the inta-love trope and the 2 main characters decided they needed to be together forever after only a week of knowing each other. There was no conflict between them but I did appreciate that they did bond over some past experiences. So that is why I went with just an average 3 stars for this book.

If you're looking for a quick, fluffy spring read this book meets that criteria. There was one spicy scene but most of the other spicy moments were off-page and just mentioned. I would recommend anyone looking to get into this series to get the books electronically. The material the actual books is made out of is very hard and my hands hurt from trying to pry the book open to read it because the binding was so stiff and not the type of binding that books nowadays come with. This reminded me of the binding of the books I used to get in school back in the 1990s where you had to pry it open and when you let go it would close the book immediately. It definitely took away from the reading experience to have to forcefully hold the book open the entire time.

Fun For The Holiday's #4

Spring Monroe, 24 lived in Lake Bliss, Ca and owned a very successful bakery with her sister Dee. She had been dating Mitchell since she was 15, they were engaged and due to be married in a few weeks but Spring doesn't want to marry Mitchell any more and feels it would be a mistake. Mitchell took it well and agreed they just got too comfortable and were better off not married. He insisted she go ahead and take the honeymoon trip they planned to Hawaii since it was something she had really wanted to do.
On her first night at the hotel she meets Diego Peleke who is a North Shore native and they hit it off. He was a famous surfer but Spring had no clue who he was. He had been engaged too but his fiance had broken it off. Spring and Diego shared a lot in common in their relationships. They ended up spending the time together and became really close. But all things come to an end and it's time for Spring to go back home. Can they both walk away from this relationship they started or will it become more?

I loved this short, sweet story. I enjoyed the fast pace, just what we need for a bit escapism.

Spring and Mitchell were high school sweethearts and going to be married in a few weeks, but Spring was having doubts. Their relationship had changed and she felt like she was being pushed into the next stage. With great courage she broke off the wedding, and much to her surprise after the initial anger, Mitch agreed that they were doing the right thing. He insisted that she take her dream honeymoon to Hawaii though.

The time of the non-honeymoon comes around for Spring and the resort lives up to her expectations. On the first night in the restaurant she meets a very cute guy who explains he is the resort owner's brother. The start chatting and find that they are both in very similar circumstances. They have both not long broke up with their first and only love.

That's not their only similarity, and find that they hit it off really well. Ideal for a holiday fling! What happens next? You will have to read to find out 😊

Having read Ms.Sterling’s work many times before i always look so forward to picking up more of her books! Having read another Fun For The Holiday’s installment i couldn’t wait to pick up another one! As soon as i read the synopsis for this one i knew i had to pick it up next. I so enjoyed it!

As Spring has just called off her engagement, she goes to Hawaii on what would have been her honeymoon. That’s when Diego comes into her life. I couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out for these two.

I really liked how i felt many things with these two throughout! They both were tackling things in their lives and i enjoyed the way that pulled me into their story even more.

With Spring’s Second Chance, Ms.Sterling has created a good read! I am so looking forward to more from her and more of the Fun For The Holiday’s stories!

J. Sterling’s Spring’s Second Chance is a heartwarming, uplifting novella that proves it’s never too late to find the love you truly deserve. With a tropical setting, an endearing heroine, and a swoon-worthy romance, this story makes for a perfect feel-good read.

The pacing is quick and engaging, making it easy to read in one sitting. The Hawaiian backdrop adds a refreshing sense of serenity and beauty, enhancing the romantic tone of the book without overshadowing the emotional heart of the story.

Spring’s Second Chance is about more than just romance—it’s about rediscovering yourself, finding strength in vulnerability, and embracing the unexpected. It’s the kind of book that leaves you smiling and believing in second chances.

I feel like J. Sterling has taken me on a trip around the world with the Fun for the Holidays novellas, and this one was to one of the most beautiful places in the world, Oahu! I actually just so happened to be there right before reading this book, but even if I hadn’t I would’ve felt like I was there just from how the author described it.

This is an insta love novella that is really sweet but also steamy! At first, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it because the guy Spring was engaged to was actually a good guy and my heart hurt for him. After seeing it that the break up was something they ended up mutually agreeing on, I was able to move on and enjoy the Spring and Diego’s story, which was really heartfelt and honest.

This book is the perfect, quick escape that left me with a smile!

This story is sweet and sexy. Spring’s struggle with ending her engagement pulled me in from the first page. Diego had a broken heart for similar reasons and they were so good together from the very start. I love how the author can make insta-love (which I don’t normally enjoy) so cute and believable yet still so steamy. This series is one of my absolute favorites and I hope we get Dee’s story next. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Spring is being to question what she wants in her future as the wedding day to her first and only love approaches as she lives in her hometown, owns a bakery with her sister and has only ever been with one man. When she decides to cancel the wedding, her fiancé convinces her to go on their honeymoon to Hawaii which is where she meets Diego.

Diego is a professional surfer who has always lived in Hawaii and his brother owns the resort where Spring is staying. He is still trying to heal from the end of his relationship with his ex but when he meets Spring he is drawn to her in a way he never expected to feel again but will what they have transcend from a fling to forever?

Fun and flirty Spring and Diego are kindred spirits and I enjoyed how close Spring was to her sister as well.
