Eve Dangerfield has loved romance novels ever since she first swiped her grandmother’s paperbacks. Now she writes her own stories about complicated women and gorgeous-but-slightly-tortured men. Her work has been described as 'genre-defying,' and ‘the defibrillator contemporary romance needs right now'. And not just by those who might one day need bone marrow! She lives in Melbourne with her beautiful family and can generally be found making a mess.

A few years ago I read Eve Dangerfield's Act Your Age and I fell in love with Ty and Kate's story. I couldn't wait to read more about them. Getting this novella was fantastic. I love revisiting a couple you love. It's like an extended epilogue in the best way.

Kate and Ty's romance is definitely unconventional. They have a rather large age gap and their own brand of kink. But they both have so much heart, are complex characters, and are desperately in love with one another. I truly enjoyed this novella and I can't wait to go back and read more from Dangerfield's back list, as these are the only books of hers I've read. The story is fast paced, steamy, and well written.

Finally the follow up to one of my all time faves Act Your Age is here and shouldn't be missed. In this novella we get to catch up with Tyler Henderson and Kate McGrath who are back happily flying their kink flag...

"One minute her kink was niche and taboo and largely associated with incest and Freudian issues, the next minute, #daddyvibes was trending on Twitter and hot guys all over the internet were being called daddy."

After 5 years of domestic bliss, our favourite couple haven't lost their penchant for role-playing. If anything the dynamics of their relationship has only ramped up. Although hopelessly in love, neither can ignore a hint of restlessness that nags at each of them.

You have Kate, who has always battled her quirks, vulnerabilities and anxiety. But even now with Tyler in her corner, she can't pinpoint what's bugging her. The one definite is her love for him.

As for Tyler (in my opinion he really shined) he is uneasy for different reasons. In the past, age has been irrelevant, but now that he has the girl he loves, why is he so desperate to lock her down? Unfortunately for him the thought of marriage practically gives Kate hives.

As they enter a new phase of their relationship, both will need to face their insecurities and band together to create their own normal. Not Your Shoe Size was the perfect conclusion to Tyler and Kate's love affair and I am thrilled that Eve Dangerfield remained true to her characters.

"Loving someone doesn’t mean you putting up with their bullshit, though, does it?"

Sequels to books that I was previously "totally smitten" with always scare me but I think that I am going to want to read this one anyway.

4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This sequel was a brief taste of Kate and Ty's life 5 years later.
An enjoyable if unnecessary book IMO but I am happy to see Eve Dangerfield remained true to form with her impeccable writing skills and an amusing storyline. It was a quick and fun read.

I am actually more depressed by her comments in the acknowledgements, where she mentions her decision to take a hiatus from writing for the foreseeable future....whatever that means....major bummer!!!....I had so wanted to see a book three of the "Silver Daughters Ink" series ...oh, well😕

I was saving this little gem for emergency pick-me-ups. And if this quarantine-no-pay-world-ending sh*t doesn't qualify, I don't know what does.

When reading a romance book usually the epilogue is enough to tie a bow on the story and move on. I tend to avoid thinking "But would that really work out?" because that's not what romance books are about for me. They are about the suspension of disbelief, the outrageous situations that always end up in Happily Ever Afters. Because real life is hard enough and we need that sweetness and eternal love to keep us going no matter how unrealistic it is.

Daddy books tend to push the suspension of disbelief even more for me because (in my head at least) how can a relationship like that progress while the h is growing and changing too. I loved that Eve Dangerfield showed us the other aspects of relationships. And they apply to all relationships not just D/lg ones. The restlessness, the changes, the outside pressure and finally confronting past hurts that still affect in the present. For a novella this definitely packed a punch.

I really enjoyed visiting Ty and Kate and I loved the ending too. I just wish Eve Dangerfield didn't announce her hiatus after this one.. We're losing one of the good ones in my opinion. I'm sad but also glad I discovered her lovely books and I'll be here waiting if she decides to pick up a pen again.

For anyone that read Act Your Age, Not Your Shoe Size is a delectable gift handed down by Eve Dangerfield to revisit Ty Henderson and Kate 'Middleton' McGrath five years down the line. So often books end with the HEA and 'that's all she wrote.' But anyone in a long term relationship knows they wind and turn, there are ups and downs and to reap the rewards of an everlasting one is to ride the wave, adapt, communicate and love.

Ty is now starting to feel his age, about to turn 50 and desperately wants to make it official and marry Kate. Kate, on the other hand, has never entertained marriage, period. And on Kate's end, there's something nagging at her, something unsettling that she can't put her finger on, making her restless and out of balance - a certain Je ne se quoi that she just can't find. To me, their relationship and their individual lives were at one of those crucial turning points and watching them navigate those waters made them seem all the more real and special. It was awesome to be back with these two wonderfully different but absolutely right for each other characters and although there were some really steamy scenes, I loved that this book dealt just as much if not slightly more with their feelings and emotions.

Eve Dangerfield packed into a novella all those little questions that niggle at you in life and the work in balancing a relationship. And can I just say that I loved Ty absolutely more than ever? Kate is one lucky girl to have found him and he melted my heart.

Miss Dangerfield has announced she's stopping writing so this was also bittersweet too but thank you so much for bringing us back in to check on this beautifully unique couple. I loved the ending and what I loved the most is: you're going to have to make your own mind up about one important little fact. One way or another, these two are forever but I like the fact that I get to make up my own mind and imagine which way they went.

Utterly happy to be back in their world. And to Ms Dangerfield, thank you so much for creating Ty and Kate and the whole world you built around them. And kudos to a couple centering on DD/lg where the writing has more substance and meaning about life and love than just some sensationalistic story. I hope we get to hear your voice again!

People weren’t nice, family wasn’t safe, home wasn’t a refuge, and love could twist until you felt like your partner was the biggest thing holding you back.

Confession time: I'm not a reader that gravitates towards books on additional books for a couple that's already had a HEA. Why? Because I feel like every time I have, it always ruins the first book for me. Something happened that completely takes away from all the warm and fuzzies that I had with the first book and I end up hating myself a little in the end. So yeah. I don't do it. Unless, Eve Dangerfield writes one. AND she writes it for one of my most beloved couples EVAH. Then I'm going to put on my big girl panties, suck it up, and take the plunge.

This was the perfect icing on the cake for this couple. It takes you through the struggles of their relationship and age gap after they've been together 5 years. It shows you the vulnerabilities that both Ty and Kate still continue to work through. It takes you into the true heart of them and I loved every second that I got to spend there. They're still desperately in love and as kinky as ever, but they have broken pieces they're trying to mend too. I don't want to tell you too much so not to detract from the experience, but I will tell you that it was immensely satisfying and I especially loved the cheeky way it was all brought together. I see what you did there, Eve :)

You have to read the previous book, Act Your Age, before starting Not Your Shoe Size but it's worth it! The first book focuses on Ty and Kate and their May-December romance (aka two people in a relationship with a large age gap). Oh, and did I mention that they both share a love for (Step)Daddy/Daughter role play? That definitely puts a different twist on things. Happily, these characters are fully developed complete with secondary characters, so a book that could be uncomfortable (because that particular kink does not interest me personally at all) is actually really enthralling.

Which now brings us to this novella - what happens next when even an unconventional relationship starts to hit some road bumps? Issues with both their past and their future spring up and I was interested in reading how it all turned out. I do recommend reading these back-to-back (I reread the first book before starting this one).

I think these books are definitely worth picking up. even if this particular kink is outside of your comfort zone, if for no other reason than the fact that accidentally initiating sex with your boss is hilariously cringeworthy.

A copy of this novella was provided to me for free by the author, but this did not impact my review.

"Her shame of liking dirty things went deep. She still cried almost every time she and Ty played daddy/little girl. One second she craved humiliation, the next it overwhelmed her. It was lucky Ty was so good at comforting her. She was so, so lucky."

Richard Siken once said 'the enormity of my desire disgusts me.' Those words have never been more true to me and my dear friend Katie. It's been cemented in my hippocampus.
Katie and Ty received their happily ever after, now we are witnessing her wanting more. For herself and for life, an adventure so to speak.

"Because you don't choose what makes you feel alive. Otherwise we'd all pick the normal stuff and save ourselves the heartache."

She's given her 20's to the love of her life, only he is being insecure about turning 50 in two months.
I found that funny. Ty is living the life, but my god he is feeling old. Katie not wanting to get married, I relate to that, but my god to see Ty get gutted because of that was so nerve wrecking I kept asking my self "ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE IT??????". This novella sure knew how to keep my interest.
I loved reading this, intruding on Katie and Ty's relationship and experiencing their growth. This was more emotional than sexual, which I loved.

I'm happy that I got to catch up with Ty and Kate in this novella. I remember how the full novel and the story of their love ACT YOUR AGE made me go out of my comfort zone, like, for miles and loved it!

I realize that the steam in books is the spice that seasons the story, however, I find myself getting a little impatient when there is a lot of sex in books. And admittedly, three sexy times scenes in a short novella is a little too much for my taste but that's me. That's also the reason I don't read much Erotic Romance these days. With that being said, Eve Dangerfield manages to pack quite a lot of story in this shorty which shows us how solid Ty and Kate really are. Try grappled a little with his upcoming fiftieth birthday and Kate with a blast from the past. My heart ached a little for them but I was rewarded with a really sweet happily ever after. Ty was ready to fight for his Katie with all his might and you could really feel the love between them.

Is it necessary to read this story, you ask? Not really but it's definitely a lovely addition, sort of an extended epilogue, and adds another layer of depth to Kate's character. And can I say how much I love Eve's writing? I really need to read her other books soon!

I couldn't look away...

Eve Dangerfield has the remarkable ability to take something that I find unsettling and a little weird, and make it interesting and captivating. This story was about love and finding the right person to live a happy life with. Like all good relationships, they take a lot of work, commitment and communication to be successful. With these two, after five years it was time to reassess and make sure they still wanted the same things.

Thank you Eve Dangerfield for taking me out of my comfort zone, giving me a thrill and helping me accept and acknowledge that we are all different and my way is not the only highway.

Keep on keeping on, Eve Dangerfield and always keep striving for your happy place.

this is a follow-up novella to the "fantastic Act Your Age" and despite it being a novella it was still a decent length.
it was great to be back with Kate AKA Middleton and Ty and this to me was like embracing one of my favourite jumpers with its familiar cosiness and warmth.
I really adored their story and journey previously, so this was like getting an early birthday pressie.
Here we are five years down the line and there are slight cracks appearing in our couples relationship on both sides, Ty and Kate themselves seem to be approaching a crossroads and "Not your shoe size" explores the ramifications of these stumbling blocks and the eventual fallout.
So despite the seriousness here I was pleased that this still had the essence of what initially drew me in with these two, the super hot daddy kink and the heavy dose of dirty humiliation these two thrive on.
These two are my top-place favourite couple when it comes to this particular genre, they have such amazing personal chemistry and I adored seeing them traverse the pitfalls of there unconventional relationship.
This made me all nostalgic it was like an extra special and lengthy epilogue where I get to check-in and watch them grow.
Big thumbs up from and if you haven't read this series do yourself a favour and pick-up.

Kate is restless, she cannot pin-point what she wants. Ty is about to hit 50, he wants to marry Kate but she doesn't want to. Kate's past comes back and his spawn too. This books describes the events about what happens five years after. Ty is grumpy and agressive as ever and Kate is a little extra.

My first series from this author, really enjoyed her story and writing.

Not Your Shoe Size brings us back to Ty and Kate five years after we left them in Act Your Age. This is a quick sequel but it gives us plenty of happy, sexy, and even angsty moments between these two. I loved seeing them still so happy in their relationships and even while they were going through some growing pains they were still perfect together and I loved that. Overall, I still highly recommend reading the first book and getting all the goodness and sexy times with Ty and Kate but now I can also recommend this book so you get even more of them.

This was a great little novella about my favorite Australian daddy. I soooo wish we'd gotten to see what happens at club Belladonna though cause that sounded hot.

Really happy these two stayed true to what they wanted cause not everyone wants babies and "traditional"

I was sad to read about her teen crush though although it wasn't surprising. That level of grooming is disturbingly common.

I've learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to Eve Dangerfield's unabashedly kinky, frank romances. But even then I wasn't ready for the truly deep depths Kate and Ty dive to keep their HEA from Act Your Age. And that final message from the author? Oof. Unexpected punch to the gut.
She had a job and friends and a gorgeous apartment and a boyfriend so perfect she’d never even dared to dream of him. It wasn’t right to be restless. To want more than she had.
Five years after finding each other and their mutual daddy kink, it turns out Kate and Ty didn't ride off into a Disney sunset. The love and the heat are still there, but so are questions that come from growth, maturity, and self-doubt. And a world that never quite fit Kate.
She’d accepted her ADHD, her kinks, the fact that estrangement was the only way to deal with her insane family. She’d accepted her weirdness, the way you were supposed to.
And so it turns out that five years still wasn't enough for Ty and Kate to find all the answers together. This was a brutally frank look at what happens long after a couple exchanges ILYs, even when the love is still strong as ever. I love epilogues that go beyond just a wedding or a baby, but give glimpses of the couple's life after the ILY.
She didn’t want to get married. To anyone. Not even Tyler Henderson, the most exciting, attractive, wonderful man in the universe. But how did you say that without phrasing it as a rejection? Like you didn’t love your partner less than people who got married?
The characters in Eve Dangerfield's romances often skate or buck the norm, and Kate and Ty are a classic example of finding love for yourself no matter what the world says. I'm gutted by her announcement that she will be taking a hiatus from writing romance but can only hope that she returns to give us more kinky or non-conforming romances. Romancelandia is more steamy, funny, and eye-opening with her books in it.

Man, I loved being back with Tyler & Kate. NYSS was such a fantastic follow-up to their romance from Act Your Age. We get a glimpse of what their relationship is like 5 years later, but not everything is rainbows and butterflies. Kate is feeling restless while an old crush of hers comes back into her life. Ty is about to hit the big 5-0 and wants marriage, though Kate does not. But even though there are some big decisions to be made, they can always rely on their love and their kinky, role-playing sex life.

I'm a little bit devastated that this is the last book of Eve's, at least for the time being. But I'm glad we got a little extra something of Ty (and his forever grumpy ways) & Kate (and her adorable anxiousness). They'll forever be one of my all time favorite kinky couples!

pretty unsatisfying. one of my main complaints of Act Your Age was that there wasn't enough fluff, so i thought this novella was the perfect opportunity to redeem that.

instead, we got something very strange.

this book tries to do too much and too little at the same time. a big chunk is spent with the heroine's friends and with a very unnecessary male character. who the heck wants a fake love triagle in a romance sequel?

so this could've been an actual full length book, exploring the character's traumas and insecurities in depth, or it could be a fun little novella, just some smut and fluff.

instead we got this. not bad per se, but it kinda of misses the point of a follow-up novella.

also... over 25% of this book on kindle... isn't even this book. i'm used to 5-10% of an ebook to be a teaser for something else, but a whole fourth??

I feel like I'm falling into a bit of a book slump, so naturally I decided to go for an enjoyable quickie. Wink.

I'd say the depth to this little story was shocking, but... its Ty and Kate. Everything about them is deep and honest and so, so sweet. I enjoyed getting a peek into their lives five years after the events of Act Your Age. As Ty is hung up on his future, Kate deals with a painful situation from her past. It was emotionally charged and tugged at my shriveled little heart!

I just love these two. I'd read ten more books about them if I could.

A wonderful little novella that brings Kate (Middleton) and Ty back to us, showing that relationships are not always smooth sailing and that is what makes them better and stronger, wanting to make things better for each other.

Not Your Shoe Size is the companion book to Act Your Age. I enjoyed it as it gave a little bit of insight towards Tyler and Kate’s relationship five years into the future, however, if you skip this book, you won’t be missing out on anything too vital :)

Kate and Ty are living together, when Ty makes a rushed proposal. Kate declines, and she starts to second-guess a lot of things in her life. She doesn’t know what she wants out of her living arrangements, relationships, work life, etc — for some bizarre reason, she just doesn’t feel fulfilled, despite having everything she could have ever asked for.

When Ty gets an offer for a position in Paris, Kate is thrilled. However, Ty has no plans on actually accepting this offer. Kate realizes this, and begins to resent her boyfriend.

One day, Kate meets an individual from her past. She comes to understand a lot of things about her childhood and she is completely torn.

How will this affect her relationship with Ty? Will they be able to recover from the mess-up? Will Kate ever be able to feel fulfilled in her current relationship?

If you enjoyed Act Your Age and want to get a better idea as to what Kate and Ty’s future holds, then definitely check this book out! x

3* STARS!

A quickie yet good short story from the previous book, Act Your Age. Eve Dangerfield is one of the best author who can write this smoothly without being too much. As one of my favorite Daddy/lg relationship, the big age gap didn't feel 'nasty' like the others. I enjoyed the balance between Kate ‘Middleton’ McGrath and Mr. Tyler Henderson. They have a real life. Yet also still indulge with their kinks.

I think marriage is become one of the most sensitive topic nowadays. Some people wants marriage. Some won't. I understand how's Tyler feeling about his rejected proposal. Sometimes, I'm a bit annoyed with the couple but they're working on it. Love a bit drama Kate's problematic self but it's forgivable when her Daddy knows what to do. In the end, it was a good deserving HFN ending for the couple.

I'm more moved that this the author's swan song, than the actually book. Unsure if this couple needed a new book, if this was the ending we get. I might be more of a traditionalist. Whatevs. It was nice to visit with Ty and Kate either way.

Ty and Kate are back in this new novella and they are hotter than ever! I remember when I read the first book I wasn’t sure about their kink as it wasn’t one I read about a lot but the way Eve wrote about it made it accessible and natural. It felt good to see that after 5 years together these two still love each other so much.

Of course with time, questions are rising and it’s always good to be sure you are still on the same page. I love to see how they both grew and they both evolve. Their relation has a specific dynamic and it was hot to witness. The trust they have, the love they share was absolutely beautiful and I wouldn’t missed it if were you.

I make no secret of the fact I love this author!

And Act Your Age is one of my favourites! I loved Ty and Middleton the first time round so was excited to have a continuation and catch up of their story!

So Tyler and Kate have been together and committed for 5 years.

They have significant age difference - that Ty especially struggled with in the first book and still struggles with here, especially as he has recently turned 50 - and a kink that again they both struggled with in the past but have found in each other the perfect answer to that part of their life.

I was not sure what to expect with this book, and again it proves just how well this author can write complicated characters that have the same fears and insecurities as the rest of us.

Even though the love they have for each other is so strong - it was interesting to see them work through that, and for me especially from Ty - he adores Kate, she was his, he was hers and that was that.

All in an excellent 5 stars.

Eve Dangerfield writes unforgettable stories about unforgettable couples - who are vulnerable, complicated, kinky, have issues, hangups, baggage - yet are so deserving of the HEA she gives them.

4 stars. Just a quickie review for this one. This was a good book. I enjoyed this novella catching up with Kate and Ty, 5 years down the road from Act Your Age. I liked that first book about them a lot and was excited to see what they are up to. They are going through some growing pains and making decisions about what their future looks like together, but still much in love. I still love this couple and their unique dynamic. This story was enjoyable, sexy and emotional. I was sad to see it end!
