2 a.m. is a short collection of poems about two insomniacs falling in love. The book is inspired by sleepless nights, loving the abyss, and the power darkness has on us. It is for everyone who wishes to explore the night even after we fall asleep.
Ramona Meisel is an artist, writer and mythology nerd living in Germany. She’s a strange human hybrid of mended bones and a soul ripped apart at the edges. Her tongue is sharp enough to cut and her mind keen enough to bleed. When she’s not haunting the net she’s perfectly content to lose time in prose and poetry.
"If I can't love you in the sun I will love you in my dreams."
Like what. If someone said that to me I'd combust.
The last two lines of 'Lightning Without A Sound' was raw and incredible, I loved the way it built up to that ending.
The list and the dictionary poems were most enjoyable to read (probably because they read like letters to me, and the intimacy of letters never fails to entrance me).
I've always found the night evocative and rife with opportunity for poetry, and this collection is tantamount to that. There are a few misses but that's okay because the good poems are very good.
