I adore Mostov's little Nikola so much. His cheeky smile, his freckles and his hairstyle is a great fit. His blue outfit is very cute too. But one of the best parts of the illustration is the choice to include Telsa's black cat Mačak not only on the cover but on every page. Mačak was important to a young Nikola Telsa, referred to as his muse. Blue is the colour that is on every page, different shades but always there is blue and Mačak. Blue feels fitting for an inventor like Telsa, the colour largely associated with drafting paper is blue. The illustrations are overall just pretty and appealing.
This manages Tesla's story well. One of the interesting things about Nikola Tesla is that he was a lifelong bachelor, it doesn't appear that was meant in the way of a euphemism, as was the way of the time. Though his why for never marrying changed throughout his life. Can't honestly think he would have been a fantastic husband anyway, most scientists this devoted to their work aren't. It does however focus on the earliest part of his life, his most pivotal discovery alternate current and his fraught relationship with Thomas Edison. That is handled as best as possible, for memory it was rather spiteful. I am so glad I found this one, that I sat forever on my public library waiting list for it. It is cute and handles one of the internet's favourite people in a way that is appropriate for the intended audience.

Honestly I can see Jonathon Young's Tesla in Sanctuary. Hence the gif sorry not sorry. I love him so much.
